Philippinesso here goes my CFO experience
QUOTE (ILoveJoy @ Jan 17 2008, 09:29 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Joy just completed her CFO "guidance and counseling" session at PRISM. After they grilled and tortured her almost to the point of tears, they finally gave up on trying to ruin our relationship and issued her certificate.

Apparently because of our age difference, and the fact that I was divorced from a Filipina last year, the CFO "counselors" ("Gestapo" is a better description!) were convinced that I MUST have been a wife beater or worse. So, they went on and on and on, ignoring Joy's pleas that she really knew me well, that I am a lawyer with an unblemished reputation, and that my former Filipina wife deserted me for her Filipino boyfriend shortly after I helped her get US citizenship (I even gave Joy a copy of my ex-wife's citizenship certificate). Finally, the "counselors" gave up on their intimidation and mental torture techniques, and agreed to give Joy her certificate if she would sign a "letter of assurance," which is her statement that she knows me well.

I think it is a good idea that the Philippine government requires fiance(e)s and spouses of foreign nationals to take some sort of seminar to provide information they may need if, among other things, the partner turns out to be abusive or worse. But who are these people to pass judgment on individual relationships, and to interrogate the Filipina endlessly in such a cruel fashion? Perhaps there is a bit of a twinge of envy on the "counselor's" part that they are not the ones who are emigrating to a new country with someone they love.

Forgive me for venting, but I am just so angered by anyone who would make my sweet wife-to-be cry out of fear of a possible roadblock to our beginning our life together. Thank God that this torturous experience is over for her.

Marc

oh, i am sorry for the experience but there's no such thing like that in SMEF-COW. The lady volunteers their were all nice and accomodating!! All they need for a fiance/fiancee whoo had been divorced is proper documentation...

Philippinesso here goes my CFO experience
I really can't wait to be interviewed and finally be reunited to my wifey!! So without my original passport and visa I took the chance to go to SMEF-COW in Quezon City and finally have my counseling session.

star_smile.gif 1. I arrived there at exactly 7:30 coming from Pasig- had to beat the traffic from Manggahan going Ligaya to get a jeepney bound for Cubao.

2. at the waiting area, names are called one by one to register. I presented my orig birth certificate, 2 IDS and copy of passport, paid 250.00, we signed registration form for counseling a few second pause in front of webcam for the digital shot, and we were sent to the viewing room on the 2nd floor at exactly 8:30for the orientation - explaining the rationale about the purpose of the counseling, the background of SMEF-COW/CFO, ETC.

3. The focus of the TV viewing is on domestic violence experienced by women.

4. By 9:30, we were sent to another for group counseling by country of destination but we were only entertained after 30 minutes of waiting for the volunteer counselor. ( Thanks God, the old lady is nice.) Here, domestic violence is reiterated, after which you are allowed to ask a question or clarification.

5. Kinds of visas were also explained one by one.

6. travel advisory was also explained. ( copies were given out, though )

7. haaaaaaaay, after an hour, the one-on-one session was given. ( FYI: the lady counselor is so particular about middle name of fiancee/fiance, all you need to do is to fill-out correctly and completely the registration form they give you. After that yo will be asked some of the items you have filled-out.

8. Finally, i had my Guidance and Counseling Certificate of Attendance. I went down stairs to submit the counseling registration form filled out earlier with the certificate ( for the complete name to be printed on the form ).
9. need to photocopy the attendance certificate in duplicates. ( FYI: PHOTOCOPY MACHINE IN THE CENTER IS OUT-OF-ORDER, SO ONE NEEDS TO CROSS THE BOULEVARD TO GET TO THE NEAREST PHOTOCOPY SHOP, around 50 meters )
10. yay!!! we have to beat 12 pm break. We ran to the CFO to pay again??????????? 400 ( prepare the exact amount ) for another certificate to secure the CFO STICKER.
11. FINISHED!!! I will be back after my visa is issued for my sticker!!! please pray for my interview on the 7th of February! I WAS STARVING blink.gif SO I BOARDED THE FIRST JEEPNEY THAT STOPPED OUTSIDE THE CENTER BOUND FOR CUBAO. I treated myself with vegemeat courtesy of BODHI and spinach... he he he he he

F Y I again:

good.gif Don't forget to photocopy all the documents required for you to bring.
( i told you their photocopy machine is not functioning - just need to be sure )

PhilippinesCarrying documents at the USEM
THERE'S NOTHING REALLY WRONG IF YOU BRING ALL YOUR DOCUMENTS. IT'S BETTER THAT WAY THAN TO HAVE REGRETS AT THE END OF THE DAY, BECAUSE ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN INSIDE. SOME PRE-INTERVIEWERS PREFER A BUNCH OF PROOF OF RELATIONSHIP AND DIDN'T EVEN ASK MUCH ABOUT MY FINANCIAL EVIDENCES. AND BE SURE THAT YOU HAVE SIGNED ALL NECESSARY FORMS. GOOD LUCK good.gif

PhilippinesTRANSCRIPT of RECORDS: do I need to have it authenticated?
QUOTE (dbears @ Jun 16 2008, 08:58 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I had my TOR, College Diploma and S.O. (Special Order) authenticated at CHED right after college graduation... after a few years I went back to college to earn 21units in B.S. Education just enough to qualify me to take the Licensure Exam for Teacher. After that, I enrolled in the graduate school taking up Master's in Education majoring in SPED.

My question: Is it a must for me to have my latest TOR authenticated by CHED or the TOR with school seal enough?

Thank you very much to those who will share inputs.

we'll it is not alwas a guarantee for you to have that authenticated credentials in the Philippines. If you will apply for a job, certification and or continue studies here, you've got to have your credentials evaluated by accredited credential evaluation companies. I used www.wes.org and I find it the easisest to comply with.

PhilippinesEVIDENCE OF RELATIONSHIP --- How much is enough?
QUOTE (ryandgracey @ Aug 20 2008, 01:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi guys...

Just how much proof should be presented in providing evidence of our relationship? I've got hundreds of photos, approximately 873 pages of YM chats (legal size paper, back-to-back...and that is just from May 2007 to May 2008), about 300 emails, 4-inch thick stack of letters/cards, the guestbook from our wedding reception as well as the financial details of it, joint bank accounts and credit cards. Oh...and a 128-picture wedding album. biggrin.gif My husband and I had been debating a bit on this issue, especially with the chats. We need some insight.

Anyone?

unsure.gif

Those would be enough for you to go on the interview, but you need to file them in a way that you could easily hand them over to the pre-interview and consul interview on the window slot. Don't ever use a photo album, better be it, paste them on a legal size paper or art paper. Just be alert to detach or draw out files they will ask you. Remember not all interviewers ask the same documents so be ready for it. Bring all evidences you could bring coz they can also ask you documents according to how you respond to their questions. GOOD LUCK !! TIRA, TIRA!!! star_smile.gif

refer to your airline online and read about check-in luggages and hand-carried luggage limits. It will tell you exactly how many pounds you are allowed to bring- usually they allow 70 lbs for check-in luggages. GOOD LUCK!! HAPPY TRIP good.gif

PhilippinesEvaluation of Phils' Educational Background
hi, just check www.wes.org- instructions are simple and easy to comply with. The only difficult part is somebody who will follow it up back in Manila when you are to send your requests coz you can't submit for evaluation whatever credentials you have now. wes.org just need your photocopied diploma if you have with you now as an initial credential to be submitted while waiting credentials coming form Manila.... here click this one http://www.wes.org/required/index.asp, http://www.wes.org/fees/schedule.asp, make sure first that you already have a target school to send your credential evaluation because sometimes they don't accept copies that is already in your hands, it should be sealed with signature on the seal flap when they will be handed to them. I hope this would help you... God bless innocent.gif

PhilippinesCFO seminar
it does not matter if your petitioner is a Filipino. Just be sure that you bring with you a copy NSO CERTIFIED birth certificate, CENOMAR ( VERY IMPORTANT ) and other documents which you may need to show them ( DIVORCE PAPERS, if your petitioner was a divorcee ) - address and contact number of your petitioner abroad, etc. I went to CFO seminar week before I received my visa, but then I need to return for the stamping of my passport. And of course money to pay your regsitration with them. GOOD LUCK good.gif

Though i'm still waiting for my NOA2 approval.. I would like to request the wisdoms of other VJ members who undergone EAD process

How did you prevented getting bored while waiting for EAD approval? How did you keep yourselves busy???

To moderator: not sure if this is the right forum for this topic innocent.gif

kung ako tatanungin mo.... nagtanim ako ng gulay at flowering plants habang naghihintay ng EAD....and my wife taught me how to sell products over ebay kaya di ako na-bored although I really want to work already.. i also opened my checking account at BANK OF AMERICA..to start building my credits and at the same time practice driving for my driver'slicense. I am dying to get back to work because I was a teacher back in Pasig City. Alam naman ng wife ko na medyo bored ako kaya, we manage to got to theme parks during her vacant days...we have a two-year pass at UNIVERSAL ORLANDO, a year-pass at DISNEY, a year-pass at SEAWORLD & KENNEDY SPACE CTR. In short, taong-husband ako but it's really worth it kasi di naman ako pabigat.

PhilippinesAre you really ready to be married, seriously?
QUOTE (HoneySkin @ Oct 10 2008, 03:05 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey K1 guys. This may sound serious and i hate drama sometimes, but are you guys really ready to be married as in seriously? How can you say that you are ready to be married? This will be my first time to be married and honestly, i am scared and nervous to death..do you feel the same?

....first time to be married? why? are you thinking that you will be having more marriages in the future? First of all you have to reflect back that the reason why you're on the K1 VISA petition is because you wanted to get married....unless otherwise you have other reasons why you are here in the US.. That question....are you really ready to get married should have been resolved before you let your SO filed petition for you..and reassess youself if you are really meant for that marriage. BUT, somewhere along the way, it's the genuiness and profoundness of our love that will give light to our hearts and minds if we are ready for a commitment or not...and will of course, eventually save our married life throughout the days of lour lives... anyway..GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS TO YOUR MARRIAGE good.gif PEACE!

- YM is excellent both for video and phone talk as well chat conference and photosharing ( the only disappointment is signal interference there coz not every household has internet connections - i was using the smart and globe wireless connections before I came here and they gave me headaches )
- VONAGE which is also connected to internet since we use comcast service a lot, the vonage phone is connected to it, the # there is US Number, we are the one's paying here.
- kung walang magagawa at walang internet doon e di calling cards he he he he he, we always get a good deal at www.hellocallingcards.com - $2 lang ayos na ang usapan

PhilippinesI-129F Filing and Filipino Middle Names
My name is Patricio Sinuto Antimano
mother's name : Carmelita Sinuto Antimano nee: Carmelita Grospe Sinuto ( + RIP ). other uses of middle name is middle initial

now my wife is Michelle Cruz Ventura
mother's name : Emma Mangalindan Cruz

:::: supposedly Michelle will use Ventura as her middle name during our wedding but she chose

officially she uses MICHELLE CRUZ-ANTIMANO - she opted not to use middle name anymore. She had to prove that Cruz is present when she filed for naturalization papers here otherwise she could have not use it.

now, the confusion is two first names which sometimes mistaken it for middle name.

Philippinesconfuse about PDOS and CFO
Yap, PDOS is for those Filipinos leaving the country for work.
Don't be confused also with CFO and PRISM- these are your two options on where to go and attend an hour of counseling wheteher you are a fiance or fiancee who is aboutt o leave the Philippines. However there are so many complaints about how the PRISM handles the counseling. the CFO- SAINT MARY OF EUPHRASIA FOUNDATION in Katipunan is the best. The heart of the seminar is exposing you to different situations about spousal abuses and how and what to do about it when such incidents occur to us. In the one-on-one session be sure to have all your documents esp your orig NSO birth certificate, CENOMAR, copy of your divorce paper, copy of your foreign SO if he or she divorced otherwise you will not be issued any certificate on that day. Going to CFO while waiting for the visa is okay so long it that your schedules and distance permits you to do so. GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND TO ALL WHO ARE WAITNG FOR THEIR CFO MOMENTS. good.gif

I am not sure if the USEM will accept co-sponsor for non-immigrant visa. I know they do accept for Immigrant Visa Applicant But you can try your luck coz I have read here that one of the VJ member it was a year ago that she was able to use a co-sponsor.
You will be fine 'coz you have a profession. Just bring all the documents that might be ask by the CO.

Good Luck! and God Bless!

My wife at the time that we are processing our papers was still a student and she had her Mom as her co-sponsor to cover up her $17,000.00 annual income as required to at least qualify. You just have to be alert and appropriate with your answers and prayer will make your day perfect!!! good.gif

PhilippinesSending money to the Philippines
Haven't had any problems sending money thru XOOM.COM whether picking it up or home delivery. It's always been reliable.

We just bought it last January but we are not using yet coz we have an existing Vonage phone of which we used its number for my job applications and other transactions. We'll definitely used it by May!!! no0pb.gif
