I will send them just to make sure. I would rather have too much information than not enough.

Thank you for your help :)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 and my last years bank statements

Bank statements are only needed if your income falls below the 125% poverty line.

We just did our interview last week and I provided I-134, 3 years tax return data, letter from employer, and pay stubs. My income is way more than the poverty line, so asset data is not needed so I did not provide any thing else.

Again you DO NOT NEED bank statements if your income is more than 125% poverty line.

The guide helps also:

I only make $15,600 a year, so I am below the 125% line. My aunt is a joint sponsor though. She is way above the 125% line, even after counting my fiance and her son as dependents. So, I should fax him the bank statements for the last year?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 and my last years bank statements
I just read that someone who went into their K-1 interview did not need their last 3 years tax returns but instead was asked to give their US Citizen Fiance(e)'s bank statements for the last year.

I did not send this to my fiance, and his interview is on Tuesday. Does he absolutely NEED to have my bank statments? I sent my letter from my employer, my 3 years tax returns, and my last 6 months of pay stubs. I also sent the last 3 years tax returns, and 3 most recent pay stubs for my joint sponsor.

Do I need more information? I'm running out of time!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMy Fiance's visa interview is on Tuesday!

Hey! :) Welcome to VJ. Try not to worry so much...it'll be just fine. I don't think they would give your fiance trouble because of being turned around at the border because he had not enough ties to Canada. It's a pretty common reason. If the officer ask about this at the interview, just tell them the truth. Good luck!

Thanks! That makes me feel a lot better. Like I said, there was no malicious intent involved at all. We were just misinformed, and didn't know much about the whole process. We're just anxious to be together

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMy Fiance's visa interview is on Tuesday!
Hello!

I'm really glad I've found this forum. It will be nice to talk to people who are going through the same process that I am.
I wish I would have found it sooner, as it would have probably eased a lot of my previous worries.

A little about myself:

My name is Jennifer, and I live in the small town of Brinkley, Arkansas. My fiance is Thomas Letourneau, from Montreal Quebec, Canada.
We have been dating over 2 years. He asked me to marry him in June of 2005.

I am a little worried about the K-1 interview on Tuesday.

Before we started our K-1 process, I went to the Memphis center, and requested information on where to get started. I was told that Thomas could move here at anytime, and stay for a period of 6 months while we began the paperwork on his K-1 visa. So, he loaded up the moving truck, and was denied entry at the border, because he had no ties to Canada. If we would have been told this to begin with, we wouldn't have even attempted to move until the K-1 visa was approved. :(

I am worried that they will hold that against him at his interview. I have heard nothing but nice things about the people who work at the Consulate in Montreal, and it has given me some peace of mind. All of this happend from lack of knowledge about the process. I am just hoping all goes well.

Poor Thomas has had all of his belongings in storage since November 2005 when he tried to move. My poor baby :(

I look forward to getting to know some of you here!

Thank you guys so much. :)

Thomas and I are still on pins and needles right now. We are hoping that the financial evidence we got from my aunt will be enough. (We could not get an employer letter, so we got 3 years tax returns, a bunch of pay stubs, and her bank statements)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionJust great...

Have you researched info for the Canadian consulate?

What do they typically require?

Do you have evidence that would suffice in lieu of a letter? Such as recent paystubs, etc.

I dont even know where to begin for researching the Montreal Consulate.

I have:

her 3 most recent pay stubs. (I could get more if I need to)
her last year's bank statements
her tax returns from the past 3 years

My husband was turned away once BEFORE the visa was issued. He had no problems crossing after he got the K-1 visa :)

This seems to be pretty common from what I've read. We were told 3 different times that Thomas could come for a period of 6 months to begin our visa application. THEN someone told us that once the K-1 processing had begun, we werent even allowed to see eachother until it was done! (No visits or anything)
They even told Thomas at the border that if he tried to cross again without his K-1 that he would be banned from the US for 10 years.
It was a very scary time.

What happens at the border crossing into the US? My fiance was turned away in November 2005, before the processing of our visa began, because of a mis-undestanding of ours. They said he did not have enough ties to Canada, and to come back when his visa was issued.

Do you think he will have a hard time crossing?

Yeah that's probably what it was. You would think, since I've been in this process for a year and a half, that I would know a lot about it, but there is still a lot I need to learn.

CanadaAdditional security checks?

Contact Mtl by phone or email on Monday and see if it has been mailed out, or if it is going through further checks

Yes, we are going to call tomorrow.

Another thing I noticed, the topic is in the IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa General Discussion forum.

This is seperate from K-1 visas correct? Maybe that is why there are more security checks?
The people in this situation were already married.

CanadaAdditional security checks?
My fiance had his visa interview last Tuesday. (6th of March) The officer told him he would get his visa within a week. Friday came, and still no visa. That's ok, the guy said a week. So, I'm reading the thread about the additional security checks and people having to wait 3 or 4 extra weeks before their visa is issued.

Here's our problem. Thomas has had his stuff in storage since Nov. 2005. He went yesterday, and emptied out the locker, and packed everything in a 10ft Uhaul truck. The truck has to be returned by next Saturday.
We're very worried, that Montreal will not get his visa to him in time.

Reading these threads has really put a strain on me.

You will need the green-card extension letter (I-751 NOA1) when re-entering the USA with expired CR-Green-card.

His Green Card expires on December 4th, 2009. Our trip is from September 5th - 15th. Will I still need that form? As long as I can prove that we are going through the RoC process?
The CR-green-card will still be valid when you travel so nothing is needed to show you are processing removal of conditions.

You do not need to file I-751 exactly at 90 days before expiration, you are required to file within 90 days before, so in your case you can file I-751 after your trip.

Wonderful! Thank you very much smile.gif

My husband and I have planned a trip back to Montreal Canada to see his parents in September. This is also when his Removal of Conditions forms are due to be sent off. Will his being back in Canada affect anything? Will he have any problems at the border crossings getting into / coming back from Canada?

We had such a hard time getting him here, we want to make sure we do everything correctly!

Thanks in advance everyone smile.gif

Middle East and North AfricaThe little things your husband/wife does
My husband rubs lotion on my huge pregnant belly just about every night. I love that, because my muscles are hurting.

One thing that he does that annoys me, is he leaves candy wrappers in the cup holder in the car. blink.gif

Can't say that I've ever had him offer me unfinished fruit before though. My husband eats anything that doesn't eat him first, and is usually the one to finish everything before I do. blush.gif

Although, he is scolding me about eating healthier now that I'm carrying our son. I can't complain though. At least I know he cares.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance Coming to US before K1 is Approved on Tourist Visa

We submitted our K1 Visa application back in January. My Fiance currently has a valid multiple entry tourist Visa for the US. Can she travel into the US before the K1 is approved? What would happen if I married her while she came on the tourist Visa with the K1 application still pending?

Thanks- appreciate all the responses!

:help:

First, I would like to welcome you to VJ
Second, you wont appreciate all the responses
3) Yes she can visit you in the USA while the K1 is pending.
4) The fact that you are asking the question re:marriage on a tourist visa, puts you at odds with USCIS, do not do it
5) do a search above, using words such as, tourist, marriage, etc

Agreed. I had a few people ask why my Fiance and I didn't just get married in Canada on one of my visits. They thought that us getting married was all it took for us to be together in the United States. Getting married before your K-1 is approved will cause many problems, and just make more hoops for you and your fiance to jump through.
Good luck, and welcome. :)
