USCIS Service CentersVermont Service Center

VSC Processing Time for I-129F Updated: February 27, 2012.

It is no longer listed at 5 months. This date is bologna, but it will be used to deny people service requests probably until those people are past at least 6 months.

Yeah, but apparently* these reports have been up since July 31st. Lies!
This really gets me going. :wow:

That statement on the processing time at the CSC may refer to visa K1 formalities (relying on what persons being served by the VSC are saying). In my case it is an IR5 visa petition by filling I130 and I485 forms. I can assure you that most of us, related to this type of visa processing; have to wait up to nine months, although supposedly the processing time is five months. What I mean is that it is not appropriate to generalize, saying that the CSC is more efficient than the VSC because in this way you can get a large group of people affected, who are in the CSC, join the cause. Insisting that the CSC is more efficient than the VSC in general, is inconvenient for those who are being served by the VSC and also for those who are being served by the CSC.

Sorry, I'm completely stuck in my K-1 bubble :X
You're totally right, and in that case, I would completely understand adding the over-the-projected-date forms to the petition.

If you include the CSC in the petition you can motivate people like me...

Why would we include the CSC if they are approved so far ahead of their 5 month average processing time?
The petition is for people in primarily Feb, March, and April who's petitions won't get reached for another 2-3 months (more like 3-4 if things keep going how they are), and all the others who will be waiting an extra 2-4 months because they've been so backlogged from Feb - April.
I understand that people at CSC want their petitions approved really fast (and I mean, who doesn't?), but people at VSC signed up for 5 months tops and now are waiting 7 or 8 just for an RFE.
There is no issue with the CSC processing times at the moment. If they were to suddenly drop five to eight months behind, I'm sure there wouldn't be a problem including them in the petition.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVermont Center is slow?

Omg, Vermont is getting slower and slower everyday, are you noticing that?? It just jumped up to an average of 169 days.... one months behind the other offices!! They keep stating approval dates of jan 31st and feb 1srt and are just moving forward one bit, they have been going back and forth between end of Jan and beginning of Feb for over a week now....

It's ridiculous. I've been watching my time line, and it bumped up ONE DAY, then went from October 9 to October 17!
It's really making me upset. I wish we could have filed at CSC, haha.
I don't even call yet, I'm only an April filer, but still!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVermont Center is slow?

Hey! I've been reading some posts and I saw lots of complaints about this VC being so slow on sending the NOA2? Specially January filers! Does anyone has the same complaint on any other 2012 months ?? I just filed now on June, I was hoping to be with my love late November!! :/

VSC is hella slow right now!

I would say that you getting to be with your love in late November is an incredibly generous time frame. I filed at the end of April, and according to estimated times here on VJ by my timeline, I won't even get my NO2 until mid-October.
Keep your hopes up! Maybe you'll be one of those lucky few who get through super quick!
There are some countries that get through really quick, like Haiti and the DR, but I don't know about Portugal.

Like everyone said, 6 months to NOA2 without an RFE, 1 month at NVC, 2 weeks to the Consulate, another two months for an interview date is the most likely scenario. That puts you at April 2013 or later. Or earlier, if VSC gets their head out of their you know where!

Good luck, and don't get discouraged! You can still visit, and likewise to your fiance!
I just traveled to my fiance and only had to provide a return ticket itinerary, no problems at all.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVSC..... Still Slow
I haven't even hit 5 months but it's really pissing me off seeing all these CSC people 'NOA2!!!! APPROVED!!' with a file date of April when they've barely started on Feb!
And the illegal immigrants getting amnesty? Sh!t, had I known that, I would have moved my man over here and had him put in under it.

More than likely expedited cases, but maybe not. Good to see in either case!

Welcome! You are right on with my timeline. The END of November is realistic as long as it doesn't take more than 6 or 7 months for NOA2 :o

With how slow VSC is, I sometimes feel like I'll be lucky if it takes only 6 months to get my NOA2 :bonk:
Hopefully they'll kick up and get back in order for us! Maybe they just got a load from January and February and will be in high gear for March and April!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI-129F April 2012 filers

Hello all April filers..... Isn't it a good feeling to see March petitions being processed!! And feels good to see "our thread" near the top of this forum. Gives you the feeling that we are all getting closer. FYI.....Took a small box to UPS to send to my fiancee in Thailand, it is our one year anniversary, that weighed less than 4lbs. UPS ground was the cheapest way to send it................ $163....... from Cincinnati! Ended up using the post office and priority mail......... $33.......... Now I just hope it gets there. Good luck to all.

Wow, and I thought mine was bad at $20 for <4 lbs to Northern Ireland
I'm a late April filer, so hopefully when y'all get NOA2s, the people who decided to wait til the end of April will finally have hope!
It's nice to see the VSC moving again, even if they are backlogged.
I feel like my tax money is being wasted :innocent:
Buuut... we shouldn't have too much longer to wait! Good luck to everyone!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support?
Hi, all!
This is my first post on here. I am hoping to send my I-129F by the end of March, and am trying to get all of the paperwork that I need together without having too many problems.
However, I do have an issue about financial issues. I am in the process of getting my BSN (second semester, junior), and work a part-time job that barely gives me enough money for my own payments. However, I am still living with my mother, and am hoping that by the time the K-1 comes through I will be very close to graduating.
Unfortunately, I doubt this will hold up, and I am looking for information about what my mother can fill out to help me. I have informed her that it is a 10-year contract and that she would be held responsible for any of my fiances financial issues after the marriage and while in the US. She is completely fine with this!
I don't know how I should go about doing this paperwork. Should I fill out to financial supports, one with copies of my W2, stubs, etc. and the same of hers? Or should I just send one from her, and fill out some different forms, or what? This is so confusing!
Also, any tips or experiences with this K-1 business would really be appreciated! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresReceipt Today, but Country of Origin "Unknown"?

They should probably change it to "Nation Issuing Passport" or something like that to avoid these semantic issues.

If another country asked a U.S. citizen "State of Birth" would you know to put U.S. instead of the domestic state?

The Northern Irish are allowed to get an Irish passport or a United Kingdom passport. Because it's less of a hassle - or so I've been told - a lot of NI citizens are getting Irish passports d/t the terrorist issues in the past?

Anyway, thank you guys for all the help!
I'll be sure to try and call, but if not, hopefully it won't be too much of an issue! :)

Is there any way to change/review this, or should I just wait to get the RFE?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresReceipt Today, but Country of Origin "Unknown"?
So I received my receipt for my I-129F.
I was so excited until I looked at my fiance's country of origin.
It said "Unknown".
He is in Northern Ireland, and that's what he told me to put as his country. Should I have put the UK or Ireland?
Is this just a formality? Will I get a RFE that tells me this will be a problem?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTiming when to apply for K1 Visa, still undecided!!! HELP
If you plan on marrying in the Philippines, you'll need a spouse visa, which I'm not sure you can get before you marry. I don't know anything about the country, you'll have to take someone else's advice that knows better. Otherwise, follow Harpa's post. Don't file for a K-1 if you're married.

If you do change your wedding plans to wed here, then you have 6 months while the visa is active. During these 6 months, your fiancee must come through a POE, all that good stuff. You need to marry within 3 months of her entry to your country, and before her visa expires.
I'm pretty sure that the embassy notifies you of an interview date, but don't quote me on it. She'll be sent for her medical first!
There is a sample of a fantastic cover letter right here on VJ!
When I filed for K-1, we basically just put that we had met online and dates when visited in paragraph form. We didn't have any circumstances that needed to be explained better. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to be either/or/and any information about your meeting(s), but make sure that you add an attachment if this is the option you choose.
I put about 10 pictures of us together in my packet. I don't think they'll want to look at hundreds of pictures.

Hopefully this helped you a little!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCosponsor for Support?
I recently sent in my I-129F, and figured I ought to go ahead and start on some of the paperwork for later. Not all of it, because I'm aware that it takes a good 4-5 months for anything to happen, even an RFE, so I was just thinking.
I saw all of the posts on here about cosponsorship. As I am only 20, and am in my last year of university, I neither have a full time job nor met the poverty requirements.
My mother has agreed to help me with this, as the wedding will (hopefully) be around the time I'm able to get a job and whatnot.
What do I need to do for this cosponsorship? Obtain her tax stubs as well as mine, bank statements, etc. and fill out two financial forms? Or just one?
I'm so confused, and would like to go ahead and start planning for all of this and let her know what's going on so we can continue to work at this.
Like I said, I'm pretty eager and should probably slow down; I know it's really soon, but I'm just so excited ;)
Any thoughts?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1 Received
I received the same thing! When I asked on here, everyone was kind enough to point out that the person who enters the form as accepted just goes through, makes sure they received the correct amount (of course ;)) and that all the forms are signed. I was told that unless it's just incredibly easy for them to find/enter, then they send out a country as unknown.

I suppose in my state of worry I didn't think about it through. So no worries! The worst they can do is send an RFE.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTravelling to fiance while I-129F under way?
Hello, all!
I'm travelling to N. Ireland in a little under a week for a 5 week stay in the country.
I plan to bring a copy of my NOA1, university ID, and my return travel itinerary.
Do I need to be more? If so, what?
Should I be worried about being denied entry (moreso than usual)? Or does the worry fall to him when he comes over to the US, to prove that he won't stay?

Thanks!

I sent mine at the end of April, and my dates are September 26 - October 5.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat do I do after NOA2?
Hey all.
I'm concerned about what I have to get together and all that jazz. I know I need the affidavit of support but as far as I know, that's it. I know that my fiance will get Packet 3 after it goes to London, but when do I get my NVC number? Should I have gotten it with my NOA2?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPacket 3 and Interview
Hi all!

My fiance received Packet 3 from London last week. I know that I can't file the interview before the medical results are in, but he isn't planning on doing a medical til late December/early January.

The problem I have with this is that it states on his letter from the embassy that he has four months from the 20th of October to complete the process. Is this just to schedule an interview? I don't want to be stuck until December waiting to get this medical done and wonder if I'll get an interview within the four months.
