Russia, Ukraine and BelarusCertified Translations
Dave. most of the places that translate will have a notary on board.. it costs a few extra dollars to Notarize and will not hurt the process. I did that ... Another good thing... if the school records can be obtained, translated and notarized.. it will help with job or further schooling here.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusK2 in Kiev.
Thanks Guys... i understand all of that. I send Department of state a letter, stating the situation with passports that Ukrainian citizens can travel abroad with. Asked for their input on the situation. Now i have him gathering all other paperwork needed for the packet.
Last few days i been trying to find anyone there that could help. No luck so far.. even if i pay for it. This is a Very strange situation.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusK2 in Kiev.
Hi guys. Here is a rundown. Iryna came in on K1. POE date Sept 12th 2009. Her youngest son is turning 20 In June. He is finishing the 4th year of college in Kiev. He wanted to finish what he has started and we did not disturb him. The fifth year of school he has to qualify for.If he does not qualify he gets drafted in the fall. He has applied for travel passport in December 2009 and still does not have one because Ukraine is not making them for some reason. Now we are in the process of AOS and Biometrics are set for May 13th. Assuming that AP will be granted by the end of May or sooner, my wife will be traveling to Kiev to visit her Mom and sons. I have read everything i could find on K2. I know he has a year to enter US after her. But i am not sure where to start. On Initial F129 he was listed as a child as well as his 28 year old sibling. But i did not see anywhere where it says that he would follow. On the AOS paperwork he was listed on Affidavit of Support. I called USCIS to ask them ... they said to call department of state. They said that he simply should gather all the documents for F129 that my wife had and go to the consulate. Need advise.. I have a feeling that something is missing in my thinking. :-(

FedEx International overnight is 3 days to and from Chicago and Moscow.

I am not sure it it is the same.. for the Ukraine as it is for Russia.
Thanks for your thoughts guys. It almost makes me think that hand delivered with someone flying over is better :-)

Hello Gang.. My Fiance sent two packets via Air Mail from Kiev Ukraine.
One was in January and the second she sent on February 25th .. The second one is important coz it contained the divorce translations.
I have been trying to track the number they gave her with no luck. USPS said that the tracking number has not been entered in to the system.
I also have been told that DHL is not working there anymore. What am i doing wrong?
Waiting part is painfull i know.. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO GET TO THAT POINT FIRST!!! wacko.gif
Thanks
Ilya

Have your fiance scan the documents into a "file" and e-mail them to you and you can print them on a printer in Ukraine. Quicker and more reliable

Thats what i did.. she sent the divorce copies and photos and the rest of signed paperwork needed for 129-F.
This drives me nuts - not knowing

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuick question about 2007 taxes
I am in the same boat since 2006. self employed and will show income for the first time in 2008, I have decided to have a cosponsor as a backup.
Even though they may be understanding and see that "self employed people do not sit on their ####, and do feed them selves during the work hours.
Actually that should be greatfull that folks in this economy are taking a risk and starting something up hopefully resulting in the employment of others.

what i ment was that they did not keep the Affidavit of support.. or anything that was given to them..

The I-134 isn't a legally binding document, so they don't really need to keep it. You provide it only to confirm to the consulate that the beneficiary probably won't become a public charge in the US. The legally binding affidavit, the I-864, is submitted with the AOS paperwork.

I don't know what other documents were provided that they returned, but I presume they were documents needed by the consulate in deciding whether to issue a visa, and were no longer needed once the decision had been made. The stuff they kept is probably stuff that needs to be in the beneficiary's file.

If you got the visa, then I wouldn't worry too much about what they kept and what they returned.

We dont know if we have the visa.. they just took the passport .. have to wait and see.. hate waiting.

At the Interview they kept only the police report and medical... all the other papers including I-134 were returned.. do they keep copies?... or?........ why not just keep the paperwork? i don't get it :-(

Got our biometrics done today too. As we were leaving i asked the lady if we could get a passport stamp. She said we would need an infopas appointment setup for that. We went upstairs to the machine. made the appointment. As it was printing... i asked the guard that was sitting there if i could ask the girls behind the glass a question. He looked at us and said : I can't see what you are doing behind my back" :-). We walked up to the window and 3 minutes later the lady handed us a passport with a stamp for a year in it. She said " you use it as a Green card, you do not have to show your green card, have a nice vacation". I was shocked... they are pretty strict here. But over all it was a great day. :-)
