I know is easiest said than done, but can you get a part time job?
Anything will likely bridge the gap, your pension plus the new "future" income will get you there.
You just need to proof that you have the income now. so this projected income is in most cases accepted.
In other words, you just need a pay check and a letter from your new employer.

I asked this before but want to be clarified again. My retirement pension is only 18,000 a year. For 3 household, i need an income of 23,862. I need to have 5,862 more. Will that be x3 or x5? Will a little income difference be denied, even if my fiancee and her daughter, 20 yrs old, will be working in the US once they arrived. I am bothered that this will cause the denial. Afraid that we cannot marry here. Please give us more ideas. Also, i would like to add that i don't have savings. Only a mobile home and a car that i am still paying.

Thank you very much everyone for the input. My pension is a retirement pension. I have an inherited small house from my mother here in Florida and still paying for my own house in Georgia. I am still paying for my car and i have a small boat. But i don't have any savings. Will that help? This income requirement really bothers me and afraid my petition will be denied because of this, after spending time and money.

I don't think they wanted it that way, its messed up. They placed most of the documents in a box not in order while the pictures that we met and passport photos and my birth certificate was placed in a plastic envelope and mailed separately. I will redo it again according to my cover letter less the folder and the tags. I will just placed a big clip paper on it. I just thought that it would be easier for them to check on my papers when it is in a folder with fastener and with tabs for easy scanning. Thank you so much again for the help.

My concern now is the forms edition. The I-129F is OMB No. 1615-0001; Expires 02/29/2012 and the G-325A is OMB 1615-0008; Expires 8/31/2012. Are these the correct forms?

We both signed the letters of intent each. The G-325A each and our passport pictures. I signed the cover letter, I-129F and attachments. I write our names, the dates and place in the pictures showing we met in person with the accompanying boarding pass and travel itinerary. Our chats, money remittances, packages sent receipts. Then my birth certificate, divorce decree, her annulment decision, entry of judgment and her birth certificate.

I followed the cover letter sample here in VJ and arrange the documents as stated in the cover letter. The forms and signatures are all originals except the supporting documents (i.e. birth cert. divorce decree, money remittances, boarding pass, etc.) which are all xerox. But we have the original with us.

I will start redoing my packet again after confirming from VJ members if these are the correct forms. You are all such a tremendous help to me.

Please bear with me VJ members. I need your help again with my forms.

These are the forms that I used. I-129F form is OMB No. 1615-0001;Expires 02/29/2012 while the G-325A Biographic Information is OMB No. 1615-0008; Expires 8/31/2012. Are these the correct forms? I followed the step to step guide here in VJ in preparing the packet. I signed the forms including the attachments. The cover letter, the letter of intent. Write our names at the back of the passport photo, and write our names in the pictures, the dates and the place, showing we met in person, and all the required documents (divorce decree, birth cert. all xerox.

Will wait for your response and then I will start redoing again my packet. VJ members are a big help to newbies like me. I am so happy I found this site. Thanks again.

Removed it in folders and the tags and placed it in a box disarrange. So i have to do it all again and i am so inept. Anyway, will ask my fiancee to help me again. But for now I have to go. no, all NBI clearance should have no criminal records, if your NBI clearance say something aside from that then you have a problem. hits means there's someone same as your name that has some issue but now that you have your NBI clearance you're good to go, don't worry. you don't need affidavits. usually if you have "hit" you'll get you clearance after they check both your file and the file of the person that has name same as yours, but after some checking you'll get your clearance with the word "no criminal record" me too i always get hit everytime i get NBI clearance, don't worry too much on the NBI because you're ok, focus on more docs that you'll be needing on your medical and interview and CFO

Thanks, because there are two sentences in NBI clearances. (1) "No derogatory record" which means you have no criminal record at all, clean of any charges and (2) "No criminal record", which means you either have a case or cases that have been terminated or dismissed before and the "hit", where case have the same name as yours. But if that is the case, i dont have to worry then. Now relieved. Thanks for the help.

Hello everyone, I am not familiar on how to check VJ previous topics about NBI so I thought of posting it here. My question is, will the US Embassy require explanation or affidavit if your NBI shows "no criminal record" which mean you have hits. I secured copy of my NBI last March and got several "hits", and done all the necessary court clearances to clear my name and had my NBI issued. Now, will the US Embassy require me of any affidavit and explanation regarding the "hits". Would like to know so I can prepare as early as possible. Waiting for our NOA2. Hey Guys, I got my NVC letter 3 days ago, they gave me my case number and notified me that the application(I-129F) will be forwarded to USEM in Manila. Thank God!!
So right now I'm getting ready to complete my I-134 form and Supporting Documents, but I have some questions and concerns: ( I need as much opinion as possible please..Thanks! God Bless You All!)

1. Tax info is needed only if "self-employed"?
2. basically, Bank Info and Statement from Employer are the only two important documents needed to go along with I-134 form?
(If I'm NOT Self-employed, Do not own a House, etc...)
3. How much annual income is enough to support my fiancee?
(If I'm making 30-35 thousand a year, is that enough?)
4. How much reasonable amount of money is enough in your Bank/Savings?
5. If I own a car (paid and holding the title) is that considered as one of my valued assets?

I just sent my I-130 as well (on 11/2) and I was a little freaked out as well, but because the photo of my husband was a little bit off. I checked everything and double checked, but it occured to me as I was reading another post about someone who got an RFE about the photo. My husband gave me a passport style photo, but it was from Nicaragua. The dimensions ended up being slightly less, like about 2"x 1.5" and the shot was very close up as opposed to the way we do it here in the US. I hope its ok, seeing as how they cashed the check... would they have sent everything back if I were to get an RFE? I'm just curious and anxiously waiting for that stupid piece of paper so I can then send in the I-129F.



They would not return the package for that. Basically the only thing they return a petition for initially is a missing signature or a missing check...or a missing signature on a check (OH MY!) Anything else gets an RFE. I have heard of many people getting approved with foreign passport photos that are not US dimensions.

Your chances of getting an RFE are probably in the "bear breaks in and eats man while naked woman streaks across island" realm. I wouldn't worry.

Kay, I've read almost everything I could get my hands on for free. and I'm starting to really loss it by not understanding anything.

Could someone help me out?


My Fiance wants to do the k-1 visa instead of travling over to visit at a later point in time deciding if he likes it here or not.(So we dont commit fraud. as he'd have no intent to stay when he got here if he didn't know what it'd be like first. hense visit.)

But, he's currently in the UK. I dont understand how to do the packet. It says I need his information, pictures, and for him to sign things aswell. Can he do that at the US embacy in London? Or does he needs to mail me, those documents for me to then send to the US gov? Will i NEED them 100% when I send in the i-129f packet? Or can he do his share at the us embacy?

I'm sorry if these seem dumb questions, but no where really explains these. It'd seem to me, everything is filled out at once, but how do I do that if someone is across the atlantic??

I'm counting the fee for the 129f atm as already spent. so remaining money on my person is very low(least on my end until i get my paycheck which is this friday.). On his end, it's a long story; But he has money, but no way of getting to it at this given time(which he will have sorted out by the time it's his turn for the fees).

When I got the pictures printed they appeared alot brighter then when viewed on the screen. Couldn't see the tiny shadow on the right side anymore as well.

Reason I'm rushing is because all the paperwork was dated August 4th when I visited him. Which everything was ready aside from pictures and documents on my end. I don't know how long I can keep the paperwork without mailing the package(I believe I read 30 days but i can't find the source...).

From what I've seen from a lot of people's timelines, is about a week afterwards, around there everyone seems to get a touch I think it's just when it goes from being disassembled the way you sent it in to being put in their folders and a barcode stuck on it and then on that never ending file of petitions lol...

I just got the noa1 in the mail. So i went and signed up to see when touches happen. The noa1 says "received date 09/02/10" and "notice date 09/03/10"

On the account after i put my case number in. it has "Last updated: 09/11/10". Is that because of me putting my account in. or was my case touched on a saturday? o.o

If it's because it's been touched. is there a way to see older touches?

I physically know someone who did get a waiver because they were disabled and could not fly. They had spoken with their fiance via yahoo email and voice chat for a couple of years. They hired a lawyer however to help with this.(they ended up paying roughly 3k total before AOS).

Their fiance was from the Philippines however, so idk how hard that country is for tourist visas compared with the situation you're facing.

ONLY a USC can "cancel" or wihdraw a petition, but it is already approved, so too late for that. Your girlfriend simply needs to ignore the notice for the interview. The foreign beneficiary applies for a VISA, the USC petitions to allow her to do so. She cannot withdraw his "request" to allow her to apply for a visa, it is done. She can simply not apply for a visa. If she does not apply, no visa will be issued and the petition will expire 4 months after it was approved. It has no affect on her being able to apply in the future for a visa, BUT she may be asked some questions about it at a future interview. Just tell the truth. No harm, no foul.

Go to www.USCIS.GOV and sign up for case update. you have the choice to have it e-mailed and or text sent to your phone. I don't think they approve according to date, at this point they are doing a back ground search of the petitioner and it takes some little longer then others. Be patient, that all you really can do for now. If you have any questions you can call USCIS at 1-800-375-5283 and talk to a customer service.

My fiancee and I sent in our I-129f form for K-1 Visa on 3/31/10. On April 2, 2010, I received the NOA1 hard copy date 4/1/2010. According to the VJ timeline, They are currently processing April 7, 2010. If my NOA1 is dated 4/2/2010, when will i be notified of the status? How much longer after your processing date do you get notification? The USCIS website shows the status as "initial review". Do they contact via email before they update the website? Any help would be appreciated.

My question is this: When they received the I-129f, did they start processing then or is it touched on the day that they are processing?

Here is my timeline.


07-21-2009 - Chatted online for the first time
10-1-2009 - Visited Shanghai China for 7 days
3-8-2010 - Ellen visited for 30 days (engagement)
3-31-2010 - Mailed I129F Petition
4-2-2010 - Recieved NOA1 hard copy

My fiancee and I sent in our I-129f form for K-1 Visa on 3/31/10. On April 2, 2010, I received the NOA1 hard copy date 4/1/2010. According to the VJ timeline, They are currently processing April 7, 2010. If my NOA1 is dated 4/2/2010, when will i be notified of the status? How much longer after your processing date do you get notification? The USCIS website shows the status as "initial review". Do they contact via email before they update the website? Any help would be appreciated.

My fiancee and I sent our i-129f packet to NVC on 3/31/10 and received NOA1 on 4/6/10, dated 4/2/10. Since then, there has been no movement or "touches" on our case. I called and was told it was within the USCIS timeline and that we should wait onger. My fiancee is very impatient and told me to call and get a number from the USCIS customer service agent? What number could they give me and what difference would a number make? I have no idea what she is talking about. I have my EAC number off the NOA1 notice and use it to check updates on the USCIS website. The website still says 'initial review' and is dated 4/2/10.

Anyway, I have checked the Visa Journey forum and have seen people on here who have sent in their i-129f packet to NVC after us and have received NOA2 in as little as 43 days! One case i saw sent in forms on 4/2/10 (around the same time as us) and received their NOA2 on 6/22/10.

If there is a problem or an RFE, wouldn't we have heard something about it by now? Today is 90 days since we sent in our forms. Two weeks ago, the Visa journey timeline said that applications with an NOA1 date of 4/2/10 were being processed. Today, it says 4/26/10. Is this accurate or an estimation? How can I accurately find out what dates are being processed? Our forms were accurate and we checked them about 10 times. I have no red flags as far as criminal record, etc and either does she. Just wondering what could be taking so long while others are zipping right along. All the poeple who i checked got their NOA2 quickly were from NVC and fiancee from China province, like my fiancee. When i called, the lady was very vague, reading off a script and really didnt give me much information. If anyone has had a similiar experience please let me know.

I am in the same boat as you. Sent i-129f on 3/31/10. Received NOA1 on April 6, 2010 with an April 2, 2010 date on it. USCIS website says touched on 4/2/2010. That was the last update. Haven't received any RFE notices. Called on 6/30/10 for an update, but wasn't given any info accept that it was still being processed within the USCIS timeline of 5-6 months. gues i will have to hang in there as well. Will call again in 2 weeks if still do not have. Funny how some people apply at the same time and get thiers right away. i guess it also has to do with the background checks, maybe it takes longer for that, but i dont think so. Background checks take less than 24 hours. We will see what happens.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresClosing in on 100 days and still no NOA2
This Froday will be 100 days since we sent in out I-129f forms. Have not been "touched" by VSC since they updated site with "initial review" back on April 2, 2010. I have called but was not given any information that would make me feel any better. My fianceee is VERY, very impatient and wants me to cakll and get a number from Customer Service. She thinks that will make the approval come faster. I know this is false, but she insists that if you call and get a number they will process faster. If that were true, why wouldn't everyone be doing this.

It seems that they are processing not on a "first come, first serve" basis, but on a "whichever i grab first" basis. That's why some peo[ple are getting their approval in as little as 30 days. Heck, i say someone on here claim they got an approval after one week!

According to the USCIS representative, they are still within their timeline of 5 months. Go figure.

Will just keep waiting like everyone else until the timeline passes

Hi there! To get right down to it, I submitted all the paperwork for my K-1 visa and received the NOA1 on 4/20/10. I know the USCIS says that it can take 5 months to get through the application but on average it seems like most people on this site get it in about 60 days. Its been more than 90 for me now. I called the 800 number but they were completely unhelpful. I've seen at least two time lines here on VJ that received NOA1 on the same day or after me who already have their NOA2. I'm really starting to worry that my application has somehow fallen through the cracks. Is there anything I can do, short of waiting for the 5 months to expire?

Reading your post, it makes me think of what I went through. It was very frustrating seeing people get approved after only 30 days, while mine took over 90. I believe there may be an explanation for why it is taking so long. Outside of an RFE (Request for Evidence), I read on this site that any applications that were submitted and received prior to May 15th were processed in Vermont and the ones received after May 15th were forwarded to Texas for processing. Texas, where the workload was apparently very light, would then send those applications back to Vermont to be finalized. So my guess is that maybe your application is in Vermont, like mine was, and will be processed there. Just hang in there. I know how frustrating it is. I was on 90 days waiting and calling VSC every other day to no avail. Finally, after 98 days, I got the NOA2. Hope you can get it soon.

So anyway, I just got off the phone with the NVC and once again they did verify it left the facility on August 3rd. I told her that DHL did not verify any packages leaving the NVC on the date they have given me up until yesterday. Her reply is we have no guarantee of how long it will take to get to Morocco. I know that is bull....... cos it's only a five or six day process. She told me to call the Visa center in Washington to track down the file. ugggggggg



I had a similiar situation a few weeks back. I was told my package had left the NVC on July 19th. I checked the DHL website and put in the dates but no package to China. I called back and told them that no package had been received by DHL that was going to China. The lady then told me that they have no way of telling when DHL will picjup the package and that they tell people it left, when in fact, it may not have been picked up yet. Anyway, May package was picked up on July 23rd, not the 19th like i was told.
Keep checking and put in dates a few days after they told you it was sent. Chances are, it was not sent oput the day they said.
