US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMexico Affidavit of Support not needed?

What's this I randomly read once in a while that the Mexico consulate doesn't demand a I-134 affidavit of support for the K-1 visa? Anybody know about this?

Sergio went to his interview yesterday and they didn't ask him for it. I would still take it in case they ask you for it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPort of Entry in El Paso!!!!
.My fiancé has he’s K1 visa and will be traveling to the USA next month. Last time he was here he had a B1 visa it’s a crew member visa, well here it goes, he’s job requires him to travel usually he travels with the airline that he works. There was a time when he’s company required him to travel to Louisiana on a commercial flight, he’s port of entry was Houston, they stopped him and questioned him, they even took his fingerprints and his picture. They had to call the company he worked for and also had to get faxes from them saying that all of this was true (which it was). They have him a permit B2 for 30 days. Well when he went for K1 visa interview they asked if had ever been deported (he hasn’t) he’s never overstayed also. He’s trips usually consisted of 1-3 days (except for the Louisiana time he stayed 28 days with a 30 day permit). He explained everything showed them his passport with entry dates and also his plane tickets. They said it was ok and approved our visa. Now I’m scared that they will deny his entry to the USA. Does anybody know of any similar cases or do you think I should be worried about this?? Thanks so much for all of your help. :help: :help:

No, she has not. but I read here that she doesn't have to? Or maybe I read it wrong.

Under section: "Packet 3 Contains:"
Update 11/09/07 for Immigrant visas: Embassy does not issue Packet 3.

What does that mean?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionU.S. Embassy in Singapore Interviews
Hello all, I hope I'm posting this in the right area.

My fiance is in Singapore and we have received the letter from NVC saying they forwarded the petition to the U.S. Embassy in Singapore where she will have her interview. (Yay!)

I looked at the interview schedule for the Embassy in Singapore and unfortunately our case number has not shown up, but I also noticed that all the appointments are for the first part of the month (6/1 - 6/12). http://singapore.use...interviews.html

My question is: Is it normal for embassy's to schedule interviews only at the first or last parts of the month? Is there still a chance we can get an interview by the end of this month? or do they only update monthly?

Thanks for any input anyone has. smile.gif

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionSingapore Medical Exam?
Ok, my fiancee has sent Package 3 back to the embassy and we are now waiting for package 4.

I have looked up this information in the consulates section here.

My question is, that this information is "updated" as of 2007. Is there anyone who has had a K1 interview lately (preferably within the past 6 months) at the Singapore Embassy who can confirm this information is still accurate?

Thanks!

Yes, waiting is the hard part.

PhilippinesMy wife was an OFW in Korea, police clearance issue
QUOTE (THX1138 @ Oct 16 2009, 08:50 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Like many Filipino citizens, my wife was an OFW in Korea for 3 years. Naturally, since she was gone that long she needs a police clearance from South Korea. Per the State Department website:

Police Records
Korean National Police Certificate (Crime-Investigation History Report: Bomjoi-Soosa Kyongreok Johoi Hoiboseo) is available to visa applicants of any nationality who are physically present in South Korea. The new KNPC now includes all serious crimes since 1945, regardless of expungement benefits under Korean law, and misdemeanors for five years, according to the Individual Information Protection Law of March 2003.

Applicants presently in Korea: Foreign nationals, regardless of visa status, and Korean citizens must apply in person at any local police station. The KNP checks non-Koreans according to the requestor's Korean alien registration card or passport. Korean citizens must show a Korean identity card with the Korean citizen's unique, lifetime Korean identification number, which is found on Korean national identity cards and Korean passports adjacent to the applicant's name. KNP processing is no fee and takes less than one hour. The new KNPC bears a red ink half inch square stamp on the bottom containing the Korean characters for National Police. It is issued in Korean only and applicants must attach a complete English translation, certified as true and correct by anyone competent in Korean and English, for the visa interview. A simple computer printout of criminal records is issued with the Korean annotation for information only, has no red ink stamp and is not a KNPC for visa purposes.

Applicants outside of Korea: Unavailable.

If your wife or fiancee was an OFW in Korea could you please tell me how this was addressed? I would like to hear only from those whose loved one worked in Korea please...

Your input is very much appreciated...

we still didnt get any NOA1, our docs were received by the uscis last march 02, 2009
but we have the receipt number from the immigration specialist that we hired
to do our paperwork for us, they sent it to VSC and they gave us teh receipt number for it so we can check it on the website of uscis , it says case received and pending

does anyone have any ideas about it? thanks

Unfortunately this is where the long wait begins. As long as you have a receipt number, you should be on track.

We never got a NOA1 either, but our petition was approved a few weeks ago and now we are waiting for an interview. I filed at VSC also in August of last year. It seems never ending, but it'll come through. Stay positive.

I guess people were called in the order they arrived, but you have no way of knowing how many people arrived before you. The order of people called went something like: A12, A13, C43, C44, B26, C45, A14, C46, C47, A15, B27, C48.

It was SO FRUSTRATING watching the people who worked there. YOu could see them behind their glass windows. Every time they assisted someone, they'd then take 10-15 minutes before seeing the next person. WHAT ARE THEY DOING? I wondered a million times. From what I could see, they'd talk to each other, get up & walk around, and straighten stacks of paper. I promise. I watched this one woman straighten a stack of paper at least 3 times between seeing people. SOOOOOO frustrating to see what my tax dollars pay for.

Nat, I'm in Houston also and have been to this InfoPass building twice to check on our status. Both trips were a COMPLETE waste of time. The first time I went, I went around the same time you did and had a similar experience. The second time I went, I made an appointment for 7am and arrived there at 6:30am. smile.gif There were 2 people in front of me waiting to check in. Finally around 5 til 7, they opened up the window and started checking us in. I waited about 10-15 minutes before being called up and then was told nothing new. mad.gif But at least I didn't have to wait an hour and a half to be told nothing new.

Once you get the NOA2, you will get sent to the NVC for processing. THis can take varying amounts of time, but somewhere you will want to call so you can track your petition and get its new case # (it changes when it goes abroad). Regarding what happens after it gets to the consulate is country specific, so look farther down the forums page for the regional discussion and ask in your countries area OR check the tab at the top of the page that says embassy info. There are forms that will need to be filled out for the actual application of the visa (which I can't remember the name of) and a police cert and medical will been to be obtained. Again, country specific on how to go about each of those.

After you guys get the visa and get to the US, you have 90 days to get married. As soon as you can manage after that, you will need to file for adjustment of status. That is the I485 that you mentioned. You will also want to file for Advance Parole and your temporary work permit. Look at the guides for more info on that when the time comes.

MSU Thanks for being so polite and helpful the world needs more people like you in it!! I was a little turned off to this site after the first few replies I had recieved. Everyone has to start somewhere and I need to thank you for your time and guidance. Its refreshing to know there are people who still show respect for their fellow human beings even when nobody else is, you have real integrity and I think you should know that. Thanks for "nOOb"ing me instead of ridiculing me because I am inexperienced in these forums, I really appreciate it!! good.gif

All it takes is alot of reading and getting used to how to use the boards.

I don't think most people mind answering a question unless it has been asked 30 different times, by 30 different people in 30 different areas, plus already covered under the FAQ and/or stickys (Stickys are the threads toward the top of each forum that is usually loaded with lots of good info). Most people just don't want to do the leg work most of us have already gone through. I didn't find this site until 9 months after I filed my original I-129F. So trust me, you have a head start already. smile.gif

And remember, everyone's "journey" is different, but most people try to help where they can. Good luck!

K-3 Spousal Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhich one?!
I had the same situation. Neither was cancelled and both are proceeding now. The I-129F passed up the I-130 because it didn't have to be processed by NVC. But it has stalled at the Embassy in Manila. I am now paying the fees and submitting the 2 documents required by NVC for the I-130. Soon they will forward the I-130 to Manila. So I am going to accept the first one we have interview for. I did read somewhere that if they schedule the I-129F interview, then the I-130 is ready to ask NVC to expedite the I-130 to the embassy....and keep the original appointment. I am not sure if this will work, but I will try.

It seems now the USCIS is much faster than in the past...even a few months ago. It only took them about 3 weeks to approve my I-130 and I-129. So the past timelines don't seem to me to reflect current time frames. Of course there are always exceptions.

So, since both of my husbands I130 & I129f are both approved and are being sent to the NVC, my I129f will just pass there as a pit stop get an assigned number and will go straight to the consulate. However, if i go with the I130, I will still have to receive the first packet, turn things in, wait for response, get the second packet, turn things in, and wait for another response. You don't think that by the time that whole process of the I130 is complete that my I129f would have already been at the consulate and have been scheduled an appointment?

I applied for the I130 and I129F. They were both approved by USCIS California in 3 weeks and sent to NVC. Currently the I130 is still at NVC (and has been for about 6 weeks) However the I129F is at the Embassy and we have a Dec. 11 interview. So I don't regret submitting both at this point. I haven't seen a down side to it as of yet. It will cost an extra $130, but to me it's worth that if my wife is with me a month or two sooner.

I have read "Ling Che's NVC shortcuts" and have been using most of them. I was wondering if anyone recently has been succesful doing this; or has experience with this part:
we have an interview sceduled for the K3 on Dec 11 at the Embassy in Manila
the I130 is still being processed at NVC
I would like to keep the interview date of the K3 but change it to the CR1 if it is ready at that tme
is the NVC receptive to this?
the shorcut says to speak to a supervisor at NVC, the operator cannot do this? Is it difficult to get a supervisor?
do I keep calling to find out when they are ready to send the petition to the embassy and attempt this at that time?
what if i miss that exact time and they send the I130 and schedule an interview for a later date than the K3 interview?

thanks for input.
Russell

K3 was originally designed [LIFE ACT] to shorten the time families are apart. People could apply for both K3 amd CR-1/IR-1 and take the K3 interview first, get the visa and go to the US and when the CR-1/IR-1 interview came up go back and take the CR-1/IR-1 interview and get the immigrant visa and the GC without having to do AOS.

This option is still available.

Thanks, my questions are:
1. how do you know when the CR 1 package is approved by NVC; and so when to call and discuss with the Supervisor.
2. what exactly do you ask the Supervisor? should I ask them to reset the existing K3 interview to a CR1 interview? and also to expedite the CR1 package to the embassy.
3. the shortcut page said this works with some Embassys; does anyone know if this works with the Embassy in Manila?
thanks again,
Russell

It took my petitions (I130 & I129F) a long time at NVC also. USCIS approved them after 3 weeks. But NVC took 5 weeks to post that they had them. I think NVC is currently back logged. It's frustrating that some fly through NVC and others don't. It would be nice if they were consistent.

Hello everyone! I have a question regarding the interview.. I got my NOA2 and a letter from NVC(not a hard copy) already for my K-1 petition.. And my question is that

1. What will i do next? Can we set the interview now?
2. Who will call to set a date for the interview? Are they gonna call me or my fiancee to set it?
3. When should we have the interview? Are we gonna set an appointment in MEdical of my fiancee or will the Embassy take care of it?

Thank you guys and will wait for your answers.

Hello Randy,
I have just set an interview appointment with the Embassy in Manila for a K3 (spouse) visa. This is the same process as the K1...the NVC does not set the appointment. You or your fiance need to set the appointment. But they won't let you until the Embassy has received your package from the NVC. But I did save a few days by calling the Embassy a few times and finally they said they had the package and would allow me to set the appointment for my wife. This saved the time it would have taken for them to send the letter to her. The Embassy in Manila has some info you will need. They also don't mail a package...you download the forms and info. Here is a link to info about setting an appointment....it cost $18 from the USA for a PIN. or about $1 per minute if calling from Philippines. http://manila.usemba...ov/wwwfccqa.pdf
As far as the medical...you can go on your own....they don't take appointments. But the benificary needs to print the letter from the Embassy (or email as in our case) passport photos and their passport.
let me know if you have any questions...I have just gone through all of this and tried all the shortcuts. good luck,
Russell

I am confused. My fiance' received her Visa Packet. It was sealed. She opened the plastic bag to remove her passport but my question is, attached to the yellow evelope was two documents, (1) Embassey warning page and (2) Embassey Consular information, but the consular information form was asking her to verify her visa information to ensure it was correct, but there is no way she can do that without opening the sealed envelope. Is there something missing and should I be concerned? I read someplace where there is a emigration data summary sheet that was suppose to be attached as well but I am sure if that applies. What should I do? I've already booked her flight to the USA for Wednesday 9 Dec 09. Thanks for all your help.

It has a warning so better dont open it coz only the immigration officer is authorized to open it.

Yes, I understand, she will not attempt to open the package but my question still remain the same. One of the documents attached to the envelope is asking her to verifiy her visa information. Should there be another document attached whereas she can verify if her visa information is correct?

I thought the visa would be attached to an inside page of her passport. That's where mine was when I went to the Philippines.

Hello Kevin,
I began the process by filing our I-130 on September 2nd. I suggest you file this ASAP; and then file an I-129 as soon as you get the receipt from USCIS (you have to send a copy of it with your I-129F petition). You will have a few weeks to gather the other documents. The next one you will need is your I-864 and your 1040 and W-2's.
best of luck,

That sucks; they should have told her why. It also seems strange they would give her that date. She might try going earlier anyway; maybe they will perform the exam. My wife went in before we knew there was an appointment date and they allowed her to have the exam then. She did have to go back a few days later because she was having menstruation. But she completed most of the exam on the first day.

My wife will be here soon...I live in Houston and I agree that she will like the weather here much better than north USA. But it's suprisingly cold right now. I think she will be shocked when she arrives; and she doesn't have winter clothes. smile.gif we will need to shop for some right away.

Philippineshow many days we need to wait for our passport?
I have read that it takes up to 10 business days. but looking at others results i haven't seen any that take more than 5 business days. if so that would mean you should receive it friday Dec. 11.
good luck,
Russell
