You need to make sure you have sufficient evidence that you will return to the UK-letter from your job, tenancy agreement or mortgage, student class schedule-that sort of thing. i did it, i brought letter from work, and had no problem yes, u can. i came to visit my fiance 2 weeks ago to the states, and have to go back home tomorrow.. i took all the needed evidence, but had not to show anything. i checked very well what the immigration officer has done with my passport, and i haven seen him scanning it or checking anything with the pc. i beleive they dont know that u have aplyed for a k1 visa. he never mentioned anything or questioned me. i only anwered him what he asked me, what i do, where i go, i sayed to see family friends, vaccation. thats all. i would do it again. good luck!	goldie	Not Telling	Switzerland	2006-05-01 18:18:00

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	QUESTIONS TO PREPARE PAKAGE3	thank you very much adele! so i guess it doesnt really matter which forms i use to fill out.. if the ones sent by embassy or the ones i can download online.. so i can start in advance to fill them all out. Many people have done this - used forms from websites to shorten the time required for packet 3 to arrive etc. - So, this is perfectly OK to do. Some of them just send the required forms to the consulate as soon as they know their case # and thereby cut 3 or 4 weeks from the process. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	QUESTIONS TO PREPARE PAKAGE3	as now, we got the NOA2, i want to be ready for everything...i still have a few questions.. how many footos will i need for all, the interview and medical? how many will my kids need? one is 4 one is 19. can i fill allready now the forms, or do i have to use the forms i will get with the pakage3? (even if they are the same ones?) when the affidavit of support will be needed? when i get pakage3 or at the interview? and last but not least, do i have to return ALL the forms to the embassy after p3 or only the one i have to sign? thanks a million times for ur help!! http://www.visajourn...erland&cty=Bern Embassy info says 2 for medical the children are the same as you and 3 for interview . The affidavit of support is needed for the interview. PK3 containts DS230 DS156 DS156K & DS157 (males only) and checklist and intructions on how to book your medical. Some embassies require you to return all the forms and some only require the checklist and the DS230 best check with the embassy. You can use the downloadable forms here on VJ or at the embassy's website. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	STILL NOT GOT POLICE RECORD FROM KENYA!	So you sent a written request plus fingerprints to the Criminal Investigations Department in Nairobi? On the reciprocity site it states only 2-4 weeks so your wait of even 3 months seems an awfully long time. I am thinking maybe it is lost and never reached there. Perhaps sending it again might be the best. Do you have an interview date yet? If you have the interview before you get the police certificate, your visa wont be issued until you submit it, but you will get it if otherwise approved. i just was on the phone with the kenyan embassy of swiss again, the guy told me he called again, its not even lost, they just bloody need endless time to do it. to say the truth, they really give a ###### on timelines or what they promise.. its africa.. sorry but its a fact. i stayed there for 10 years... all i can do is to push the guy at the embassy and call him daily.. its a headache. i havent got yet the interviev, the NOA 2 has just been issued on the 1. of may, but i will feel a whole lot better if i get the record soon.... not on the last minute...thanks	goldie	Not Telling	Switzerland	2006-05-11 05:08:00

Has anyone received a NOA2 approval in the last month (especially from CSC) ???? If so, has your case been received at NVC yet???? How long was it before they received it????? OR......how long have you waited??? In looking at some of the older timelines....it was only taking about a week from approval to get to NVC......that timeline has apparently slowed down quite a bit lately........I was really hoping our case would be at the embassy before the end of May since we got approved May 8...... People on VJ have reported the NVC has never confirmed their petition and suddenly the Beneficiary in the foreign country get packet 3 or some kind of notice or both get a notice the petition's at the embassy. I think possibly, even though the SC probably doesn't have a clue if they're the helpless desk because they're reading from a script they're provided and have absolutely no insight into the process, some do get sent or could get sent to the embassy directly. Does your NOA2 have a number above the fiance)e)'s name and the number is preceeded by the letter "A"? Mine does and I wonder if that's an assigned, THE infamous "A" number. Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of man! Only the Shadow!! Seriously ... I called last night after reading someone with our exact NOA2 date called and they were in the system. Why aren't we???? I also wondered if it was the A number. It certainly looks like it and I used to see alot of A numbers because I had to run SAVE on non-citizens in my line of work. i asked my fiance and he told me, no, he got no number written on the NOA2. so no "famous A nr". and yes, i checked again, and the number i acctually called, and which was written on the NOA1 together with the address of the CSC, is matching with the number of the national service center. wow. seems california got no number at all to call direct. nice. and, for sure, this woman on the phone service have absolutley no clue what is going on. wonder what for they are employed. no more help then the automated phone service!. oh, well, u have the chance of waiting min. half hour on phone and talk to a real life person!! so, theoretically, somebody can call for month every day, and all what they will do is repeating the same, "am sorry maaam, we havent got it yet, please allow us.. blabla bla." grate system!	goldie	Not Telling	Switzerland	2006-05-19 14:30:00

If you are divorced, write your ex-husbands name. I did and I had my interview last week and they didn't say anything. Hey Goldie, I have the same situation ! My fiance is going to call NVC again today, whenever he wakes up over there , and I also sent an email and still waiting for reply. I've heard that people get Package 3 within 10-14 days after their NOA2 so I'm getting worried too cause we didn't get any emails or any notice in the mail either.. I also contacted the US embassy here in Croatia and of course they don't know anything either. And we thought it was really going well after we got our NOA2 (May 2nd)! The NVC is nothing more than a point of distribution for K visa applications. All that the NVC will do is pass on your petition to the appropriate Consulate. Be patient. The next time you'll hear anything is probably when your petition reaches the consulate. Lidija, good to hear others are in the same situation.. but still, i just have no more patience now. and i hate when i cant do anything or cant get any information. well, i guess all we can do is waiting until we hear from our embassys. i thought that the NVC as well send a letter to the fiancee wher they inform them which embassy they will deal with...	goldie	Not Telling	Switzerland	2006-05-18 02:52:00

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	K-1 NOA2 Recipients: Everyone get their A-Number on the NOA2 Form?	ok, so everyone did -- well excuse me WOW! No there's no number on our NOA1 just the NOA2. Interesting. Really? That's strange... I just looked at both of my NOA's and they both have his A#. I figured they gave out the A# when they first receive and process the petition. Hmmm... did most people get their A# for the first time on the NOA1 or 2? K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Big Disappointment...	Does the consulate in Ankara have a website where you could download "packet 3" and email or fax the required checklist form. From what I hear, most people don't wait for packet 3 to arrive at their doorstep and save themselves a lot of time by doing just that. Just something that may help you out if you haven't thought of that already. Good Luck! i think i wouldnt wait so so long that my lawyer does anything. it is too long since they received the petition i think. tell ur fiance to send a mail to the embassy there and tell them to send u finally paket 3! it doesnt make sense for me, what for they are waiting. there is nothing to be done without him sending the forms so that they can go on with security checking or whatever they do. is there no phone mumber to call them directly? I WOULNDT WAIT AT ALL only relaying to my lawyer! as fari understand he s in the usa, so what he want to do from usa? is he in contact with the usa embassy in turkey?? what does he tell u? i dont know, but i have a feeling that its not even on the embassy that it takes so long.. maybee the lawyer is just tooo busy dealing with alot of other stuff, as many lawyer so.. to get as much money as possible.. maybee am wrong, maybee not. but it wouldnt harm to contact the embassy directly, no? to find out whats going on there. thats HIS right!!!!!!! he asked for a service they provide, and they MUST give him this service!! Perhaps the consulate in the UK follows the policy that you mention, but there are consulates that do not. Visa applicants need to understand policies and procedures at the consulate they will be dealing with, policies and procedures taken from other consulates may be misleading. Yodrak I have noted on previous posts that even when sole custody was granted, if the other partner had visitation rights the Consulate wanted written permission from the non-custodial parent for the child to go to USA. To prevent any complications at the interview and with immigration best get a letter done. Adele well, i called an other lawyer again, and she told me, i shouldnt border about visiting or holiday rights changing coz i leave the country. as long i got full custody, she sayed, if it was her, i wouldnt do too much and wake up sleeping dogs.. well, so i cancelled the appointment and told them i will do it by myself with the father. i wrote the embassy in bern some time ago about the issue, and all they told me was: the kid can apply with u, a final desition will be done at the time of the interview when u show original documents." whatever this means... actually not at all a response to my answer... i worte as well to the border and immigration of the usa, and they sayed as well, as long i can show i got full custody things are fine.. well, i hope so..... i only know, i will be really f.... up at the time of the interview, if they will ask me then, to get a agreement of the father....	goldie	Not Telling	Switzerland	2006-05-22 12:04:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	is it a must to change the visiting rights for the kid to holiday rights?	goldie, I understand this from your post - you've got an agreement with your child's father, worked out during the divorce procedings. Now you want to change the agreement, in fact you may need to change the agreement in order to bring your child to the USA with you. Sounds like you need to enter into some negotiations with your ex-. You may need a family lawyer to help you with the negtiations, perhaps the same lawyer who helped you with the divorce. The guy at "the office" can't help you, or predict the outcome. He can only speculate and record the change when the negotiations have determined what changes there will be. The US government can't help you either. They won't help you to negotiate a new deal with your ex, nor will they help you to break Swiss law. They may issue your child a visa, but that won't necessarily mean that you can take your child out of Switzerland under the current arrangement. Yodrak am a bit worried, if i have to change officialy the weekly visiting rights for the father of my child to longer holiday rights as its recommended? or is it enough if i talk with the father of the kid and see what we can do, if he anyway is intrested in it? at the office where they deal with this changments, they told me, that it might be a possibility that MYSELF i have to pay for all the costs that the father can take his child for holiday to swiss later on. !!! even if they say in the divorce papers, that the father has to take all the costs to visit or take the kid into holiday! they told me, its becouse its me who want to leave and go far away, so its on me to pay all the costs!! but, how could i do this? to pay for the airfare for my ex to come to usa, then pay 2 fligth back for them, then pay again to let the ex go home??? my daughter is just 4 years old. and can not travel allone... she has no contact with the father, he see her only when he feel to see her... but, i know for sure, if i have to sign such a agreement, that i have to pay all costs, only to put me in a mess, he will come...to pick the daughter.. and here we dont even talk what to do if the child DOESNT WANT to go... i dont know what the law in switzelrand says... but, i know, i will not sign such a agreement.. what if i cant pay?? i am not allowed to work at least 1 year... and, even then, its just too expensive.. anyway, my doughter has no contact anyway with the father, and i guess he will not border anyway, even if we are gone.. but, DO I NEED THIS AGREEMENT for usa??? thanks a million times.. the guy today from the office confused me just too much... what Yodrak said! plus: have you filed for a K-2 visa for your child yet? Don't you have to have the child's father's permission to do that as well? (someone who has filed K-2 needs to answer/cofirm this one for me ) i have filled already for the k2 as well, got the NOA2. i got full custody on my child, and by swiss law i can go wherever i want with the child. to change the visiting rights to holiday rights is only a request, not a order, as by the swiss law. here this office is a office from the wardship, so they are accutaly doing all the changments, not the court. so i guess, i will go there, sit down with my ex and them, and try to find a solution.. well, even if its just theoretically... practically really not possible, i doubt they will let my ex enter the usa, he is a kenyan citizen and got only a working permit in switzerland.. and, my child is not able to enter a plane allone, well i wouldnt even allow this. just wanted to be sure, that it wont be asked when i got the interview kor when i enter usa for good. thanks alot!	goldie	Not Telling	Switzerland	2006-05-18 14:03:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	is it a must to change the visiting rights for the kid to holiday rights?	am a bit worried, if i have to change officialy the weekly visiting rights for the father of my child to longer holiday rights as its recommended? or is it enough if i talk with the father of the kid and see what we can do, if he anyway is intrested in it? at the office where they deal with this changments, they told me, that it might be a possibility that MYSELF i have to pay for all the costs that the father can take his child for holiday to swiss later on. !!! even if they say in the divorce papers, that the father has to take all the costs to visit or take the kid into holiday! they told me, its becouse its me who want to leave and go far away, so its on me to pay all the costs!! but, how could i do this? to pay for the airfare for my ex to come to usa, then pay 2 fligth back for them, then pay again to let the ex go home??? my daughter is just 4 years old. and can not travel allone... she has no contact with the father, he see her only when he feel to see her... but, i know for sure, if i have to sign such a agreement, that i have to pay all costs, only to put me in a mess, he will come...to pick the daughter.. and here we dont even talk what to do if the child DOESNT WANT to go... i dont know what the law in switzelrand says... but, i know, i will not sign such a agreement.. what if i cant pay?? i am not allowed to work at least 1 year... and, even then, its just too expensive.. anyway, my doughter has no contact anyway with the father, and i guess he will not border anyway, even if we are gone.. but, DO I NEED THIS AGREEMENT for usa??? thanks a million times.. the guy today from the office confused me just too much...	goldie	Not Telling	Switzerland	2006-05-18 12:59:00

WHERE IS OUR PETITION????	i got today this e mail from the NVC. after i asked if they received now, after 3 weeks, our petition. the USCIS wrote that the petition left on the 2. may. how can it be so long only on the way? and all others which dates long after us, got at least the news, that their petition has riched the NVC! what can i do??? is it possible to send a e mail as well to the USCIS to ask what happened to our petition? coz when i called them, they where not ready to give me any answer then , if it left, it left. what can i do? thanks Dear Sir/Madam, The National Visa Center has received your inquiry regarding WAC--------. They all seem to charge different fees and you may find one a bit further away who charges less. The last time i called was on May 22, 2006 and they still havent received it or said that their is no record of it! I will call on this Tuesday after Memorial day to find out what in the heck is going on! I feel your pain, and It sucks that when we do things the legal way that we are tortured by the waiting and unfortunate happenings & on the other hand, well i am sure u are aware of all the illegals that are here and their benefits! (Sigh) Hang in there man! I am sorry you are still waiting....we had to wait about 4 weeks as well to finally hear from the NVC, but it finally happened. I'd give it another few days and then call NVC again...or call CSC again, maybe you get to talk to someone who can tell you, when your papers got sent. But I actually think, it already got to the NVC and they just haven't gotten to it yet. Don't panic!!!! When my fiance reads this, I will have a hard time calming her down, as she has been barely keeping it together lately. Sorry Jedi, but needs to also be said. The horror stories I mention are freely available on here in their own threads. Stuff ups do happen (whilst rare in these instances), and if people are not aware of them, how are they going to be responsible for their own case and know what to do from others experiences if they are not aware of them. I have seen many posts in the past where it has taken 3-4 weeks for petitions between CSC and NVC.....and then it can take a little while for NVC to acknowledge receipt of it. Give it another week and if you havent heard anything, call or email your congressman. There has been petitions in the past that have been forwarded to the wrong department (Mellie comes to mind) and been extremely difficult to trace.......there was even a whole batch that mistakenly got sent to archives from NSC Im not saying this to worry you more.....but to advise you to stay on top of it. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Going Out Of	I know people get fed-up and pissed off when the time goes beyond their strength. But you know people??? Eveything has two sides. Yea I have been through this experience still going on. We have first faced the painful immigration experince in 2003. Since then we have been running and and running. Still striving. Now lets talk about the two-side thing. Yea when things went out of our hands and we lost the patiance after waitting for long time, from Dec 2003 to March 2004, I just said to my honey, Hey Do we need a piece of paper(visa) prove our love?? She said no then i said "then why dont you leave USA and come here and stay with me. Let immigraion sort out what they want to find from our case and lets start our life properly instead of sending kisses on yahoo. She did exactly the same thing. Left her 9 years pensioned, insurnce-covering, easy and lucartive job and moved into Japan. i am proud of her. Though our case went ahs many ups and downs but the most bright thing was when I wanted to cryI ahd he shoulder and vice-versa. i know exactly how u feel... even if we got our NOA2, we are still waiting and no end... it has been now 6 weeks! since the approval, and our petition has not even riched the NVC!!!! it makes me even more mad then waiting for the NOA2, coz i know, its not normal at all.... am so helpless like u, and the worsest thing, we dont get any inromation at all about our cases, why or how long still.. that sucks. if at least we would know how long, we could focus on this date.. and, yes, it can make u sick, the stress and frustration is just too much.. i tried as well to keep away from this site sometimes, it hurts, that alot of others go on smothly, and some they wait until the end of time... has somebody a idea how to find a congressman, and how to get his help? i pray to all of us, who s petitions are stuck....	goldie	Not Telling	Switzerland	2006-06-04 03:59:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	I-129F approved, but still waiting!	My I-129F petition for my fiancee was officially approved on 21 Mar 2006. It's been over 2 months now and nothing has been forwarded to her side as of this date. I called the National Visa Center and they wouldn't even give me a timeline on when the 'security background checks' will be completed. What can I do? This is getting ridiculous! I think I am in the same boat. I checked online and our petition was approved April 27th, but I haven't heard a thing from NVC and I tried calling the Consulate in Mexico, but they don't have it. I am going through the Texas Service Center, but I think they forward our stuff the California Service Center. Maybe that's the cause for the delay! as well we are in the same boat... NOA2 on the 1. of may.. its 6 weeks now.. they havent even received ours yet!!! 6 weeks from CSC to NVC! thats real redicoulous! i would say, the NVC can help at all, as long they havent received it yet. i ve e mailed CSC several times, and my last reply was on thursday, the guy promised me to send me a e mail back, as soon he checked what date the petition has left from CSC... well, seems just to check something in a computer takes even days.. but, if NVC got it, then u can only contact them. i would try to contact a congressman, heared they can help to find out! if we will not hear anything anymore from the guy at CSC, we will definitly try to talk to a congressman. this is crazy!	goldie	Not Telling	Switzerland	2006-06-06 11:21:00
