Middle East and North AfricaWhat to Expect at Your K-1 Fiance Visa Interview??

If she gets here.. trust me she will laugh so loud as she reads the things people wrote about me and her.. which is not good thing to read.. hope you understand
and some people like mirtha i'll let them Judge me if they want, but they should not forget to keep the verdict to themselves..

It's kind of weird... I didn't realize how much .... until someone else did too

Your fiancé has gotta have tougher skin than that though Zagray. If you feel like she can not handle the honesty or even questions here on visa journey then how on earth will she handle what may come out of the Consulate Officers mouth. You are going to get asked a lot of questions & some more than likely pretty off the charts. Your fiancee is going to want to know what was asked by them to you.

We try to speak to the US female on here because she will understand us more especially since we are mostly all women on this forum. She might have questions for us that she will understand where we are coming from and our point of views. Mirtha is a great person, trust me I know. She is being honest with you & trying to get you to understand how it very well could end up. Ive been on visa journey for 5 yrs now & can honestly tell you that us who have been here for that long do have good intentions and advice for people that are about to go through what we already have been through.

Zagray, is there any way that your fiancé could come on visa journey even if its like 1 time a week? That would give her a chance to hear our stories, get an idea of how its been for us who have gone through the process and been on visa journey for 5+yrs. I know you said she's busy but so are the rest of us. Some of us work a lot and have children/families that we give a lot of time to but we still get on visa journey to read up on stuff that we might need to know for the process we are about to go through. This is my advice for her.

Middle East and North AfricaWhat to Expect at Your K-1 Fiance Visa Interview??
This is part of how the interview for my hubby went back in 2007 in Egypt:

The officer asked him: When did we meet, when did we marry, where did he take me, where do i work(2jobs), where was i born, did my family meet him(yes grandparents) maybe a few other things that I couldn't remember. He looked at a couple of wedding party pictures and wanted to see me with his family in pictures too. He didnt look at my phone bills or emails.

And as Im thinking about it now, its interesting they ask Adam over in Egypt if my family met him bcz when we went to get the permission to marry letter from the US Embassy in July 2006 and they was asking me if I am sure I want to marry? I had told the guy yes and even my grandparents met him here in Egypt and approved of us together and he was typing something into the computer but I have no idea if it was that comment or not.

I know Im pretty convinced that whenever Adam & I do have a baby that they will have super curly hair. In my mind theres no way on earth we will get out of that!

The only thing I MUST use is baby detangler in my hair due to the curls getting so knotty. Everything else is optional. And I do own a flat iron. Takes about 40 minutes to flat iron it all out.

Night & Day
Day & Night
I was chatting online & found Mr Right

It was love at first smile
I hadn't had that in awhile

With his emoticons & I love you's
I couldn't stand not to do it too

So we planned on a date
to see each other would be great

I hopped on a plane
While peeps thought I was insane

For a love that was sure
And would forever endure

We became man & wife
Oh what a life

Only to come home
and be all alone

To wait for some time
I nearly lost my mind

It was all worth it in the end
to marry my best friend !

Not the best poem but I tried

How many times did your wife visit you over there? Do you have pictures of you & her together or with your family? Do you have pictures of a wedding party? Does she send you letters in the mail? Those are things called proofs of times together and bonding.

Egypt's high court ordered the entire Egyptian parliament dissolved on Thursday, saying the January elections held there were unconstitutional.
The constitutional court in Cairo declared that one-third of the lower house of parliament was elected unconstitutionally, according to the Washington Post.
[Related: Egypt extends military police powers ahead of vote]
"The makeup of the entire chamber is illegal and, consequently, it does not legally stand," the court said.
The high court also ruled that Ahmed Shafiq, an ally and former prime minister to ousted president Hosni Mubarak, can run for president against Mohamed Morsi, a Muslim Brotherhood candidate.
The rulings—both of which favor Mubarak supporters—were met with an immediate outcry from protesters, who clashed with police outside the courthouse.
Egypt's historic presidential election—the first since Mubarak's ouster—begins Saturday.
[Related: Ousted dictator Mubarak in poor health]
"Both decisions empower the Mubarak status quo," Omar Ashour, director of Middle East studies at Exeter University, told the Post, "which is no surprise, as the judges of the court were appointed by the latter, and represent a part of the so-called 'deep-state.'"
Islamists secured a majority of seats in the lower house of parliament in the Jan. 7 elections.
Mubarak stepped down in February 2011 following more than two weeks of anti-government demonstrations—part of the so-called Arab spring.

I'm 5'6 and Dh is 5'6 and a half (that's according to HIM)

Lol to the and the half... A nurse at a doctors office asked me my height and I said 5'6 then when she measured me I said 5'6 huh. .... She said no your not your 5'5 1/2! Ooooh she was so wrong for that!!!!

Yah even with me being 5'6 I have to get petite in jeans/pants bcz im shorter from waist down. I don't mind bringing up the weight convo bcz I'm confident per se about it just need to loose weight for health sake & it was said to me by the doc that it would possibly be easier to get pregnant if I could loose weight.

More shocking for me is that I'm 20lbs more than hubster! I'm trying to get under his weight! Last month some of my brothers & their spouses came over to moms house. The guys were playing basketball then my brothers & Adam thought it would be cool to try to see who was strong enough to hold me... Like carry me in their arms! I was yelling, laughing & crying at the same time it was so hilarious. I have got to get this weight off!

This question was asked over in Facebook in our group of women married to Egyptian men & I was surprised at how many women & men were over 6ft tall.

I'm 5'6 and Adam is 5'9.

And for those women that may be taller then ur hubby does it bother him? And for those much shorter than hubby do you wear high heels to be close in height?

I called our insurance company about the water heater & they said they cover the amount after the deductible if we have to replace the wall or floor. The water did go through the wall and out the back bricks of the house but it doesn't look like its that damaged. I'll check into it more tomorrow when the plumber moves it away from the wall. We had a year of paid for home warranty from Nov 2010 when we bought the house but never needed it or extended it.

Ahhh makes me remember again the situation from up in NY in 2010 with the guy that was attempting the car bomb. Adam had a co worker that made a comment to him that his cousins were trying to blow up NY.
And there was the day he went from 3 years of working over night to starting his first day of the 5am shifts. His first break in that shift was mostly older men & they were speaking about how indians and pakistanis work at gas stations & f'n arabs this and that. He responded back to them that he's an arab too & thats part of his family & he doesnt appreciate them talking like that.

I am more so proud of how Adam handles himself in those moments when people speak ignorantly to him or about him.

I know we have talked about getting a camera system to monitor stuff outside. We live around cops, cows & chickens but yet we still have 2 neighbor houses that are known for theft and drugs.
The first thing that ever happened to us was minor bcz nothing was stolen just that someone had went through both of our vehicals looking for stuff and left both of them a mess with everything from the glovebox scattered in both cars. Thats when we put up the motion light at our front door.

Then the incident 2 weeks ago where the young men cut out Adams gas cap out of his car and threw a beer can in our yard & a couple of opened packets of condoms. Adam was pissed off. I did go to the police dept to report it and show them the pictures from my phone. Justice was done the other night when the kids were back and pulled their car next door to us in the vacant house and was drinking alcohol. Adam called the poice out and got to hear the cops ask them how old they were & tell them they were all under arrest. Still I think we need to get a monitor regardless for our own peace of mind.

Very sorry to hear of this happening to you & your hubby Kara! Glad to hear that ya'll reported it! And I do recommend ya'll get cameras set up!

Another thing I do remember was when Adam applied for the water company about 2yrs ago and he had an interview with the manager. The manager questioned him about his name being Ahmed & told him he would have to be called something else bcz that wouldnt work out here. When I heard about that I was ready to meet the manager myself! Adam never got a call back from the manager and he should be quite glad he didn't... I would have picked up on that phone call!

walking!!! Love it.

Ladies, I found I miss my treadmill and because of all this posting on exercise I think i will buy another. It has been a while...anyone have good ideas of what kind to get? Or has anyone used the manual ones??

I found while walking on my previous one...reading the garbage tabloids killed the time and never noticed I brisked walked for over an hour!!

Oooh reminds me of back home in Georgia when I was single. I used to go out with my girlfriends all the time and run around Stone Mtn & I would also walk/run at my local park & I would even go to a close by churches gym and use the treadmill. Adam & I have already talked about buying a treadmill & putting it in our spare room. Need to make that happen. Due to a lot of heavy stress through out the years with work, I think the stress has hindered me from loosing weight. I gotta get that treadmill!

Today I've had melon, pancakes (no syrup, light butter, whole grain), and cottage cheese. Yesterday i had a vegetable stir fry and beets.

Being that we just found out he is officially scheduled for his naturalization interview we are now getting exciting and prepped for that moment. He should have all 100 questions nailed down for the 6-10 they ask about. I sure do need a vacation asap so Im ready for this new waiting period process to be over.

We just got back from trying out this middle eastern restaurant about 40 miles from our house... That may be a close running tie with the other "close ones" It was a small restaurant but the room was painted & designed really nice. Its owned by a Lebanese family.

Once Beths hubby gets his visa they will practically be our neighbors out in the country... I think she's only 15 miles or so from Adam & I. Anyways, thats whats up for us today. Time to chill with the hubster once again!

Well, heres a little something from hubster & I. A week ago our neighbors son and his friends were over out in the street and front yard and next to our house til 1-3am. A few days ago Adam noticed his gas tank cap had been cut off & stolen out of his car plus we had beer cans & used condoms in our front yard after those kids left the neighbor guys house at 330. I was pissed when I heard his gas tank cap was cut out Adams car so I had him send me pictures to my phone from the gas tank, beer cans & condoms in our yard. After work I went to the police station to report all that & show them the pictures. Adam was pretty upset about it all. Since then they haven't been across the street... until tonight. Adam calls me and tells me to hurry up and get home bcz he called the cops out bcz there was a car parked next door in the vacant house to us. He said the cop came out and asked the guys in the car how old they were and they said 19 and the cop told them they were under arrest. By the time I got home at almost 12am there was 2 cop cars, and a tow truck blocking my driveway. I parked my car behind all that and went to say Hello to the cops lol ... Adam has been so excited to know all 3 guys got arrested and the car is being towed. He's like a kid in a candy store!!! loooool

Alex was 4yrs old. Adam & I got him right after he first got here & he was just a kitten :( Im pretty sure it was from either stress/heart attack from being stuck in the curtain all day or from suffocating :( Still terribly sad to think he was like that for hours. I agree with inluvwaiting, let your dad co-sponsor if he is willing. It is important to visit more then once.

I dont necessarily agree with this... your dad is not working and disabled.... you can work alittle bit more and make enough money to do the sponsoring yourself.

Ok everyone, just stopping by to give an update.

A lady from this forum who's in Egypt had a male friend call him. He says he is fine! Phew!

So that just leaves the question of why he was MIA for a while... Very strange and unlike him. More than a bit inconsiderate, in my opinion. Usually, when one of us knows we will be gone for a while, we let the other know when, why and how long. So this was just strange. They asked him to contact me, so we will see if he does.

Part of me is very thankful that he is ok. But another part of me says "Ok, but what was going on then?" All we know is that he is "fine". But I guess only he can answer that...

As others have suggested, I might like to think good of him, yes. But still I have been worrying all along about all kinds of things, like does he just not care if I worry? What does that say about his seriousness? Is he there visiting a wife or something? Is that why he can't talk to me? Is he REALLY completely and legally divorced??

But see I wouldn't be freaking out about things like that, if he hadn't disappeared that way, lol.

I'm guess I'm just going to have to be cautious. I won't assume anything, or accuse him of anything unless I see some very solid proof, because that's just wrong. But at the very least, I have reasons to wonder...

Has he contacted you yet or explained why hes been MIA? and did I miss out on you answering how long you havent heard anything from him?

Everytime someone tries to say what a culture "norm" is for Egypt and I look back on our situation.... I guess we broke all the rules! We held hands in public, we kissed on our wedding day in front of family, i wore skirts, shorts to the knees, coulottes, tshirts, wore sleeveless shirt to swim in over my bathing suit with short shorts, looked at male relatives and friends in their eyes without being thought of in a wrong way, slept in the same house as my husband before we were married (just slept in the room with his sister & mom) while he slept on the living room mattress, introduced to his family fairly quickly via webcam & phone, was known as a christian from the get go, was myself and didnt act like i was someone else trying to step on eggshells around him & his family. Oh well.... screw whatever the norm is. I love my life...
