Here is a gift list question, maybe someone can help me with. I would like to set up a gift list in the UK so when we move over in a few years. Mostly electronic's like a kettle, toaster ect. for the kitchen. Where are some good places to register. I tried Debenhams but I can't get it to work. Any good ideas! Anyone else do is?

Important travel information
It is now mandatory for anyone using the visa waiver program, to apply online for the new E.S.T.A. (advanced travel autherisation) prior to traveling to the U.S.A. It is reconmended to be done at least 72 hours proir to traveling. Once done it should last 2 years.

May i ask what the interview is for? you appear to be married and already gone through the K1 process?


Since he was unable to find a job here and wouldn't be able to get to work instantly. His job requested he stay for another year and they would make him head of the department, we decided that if he had that extra experience that would even get him more opportunity to get a better job here. We have been doing this for 8 years, so I was willing to wait one more year. To give him the opportunity to do something so important to him. So I was being a good wife!! :innocent:

A K1 visa is a one entry visa. Once he enters the US with it, then it is done...toast...kaput. If he leaves the US, he will not be allowed back in. You could have gotten married on Visa Waiver, then he could have gone home and you started the process as a married person (K3 or CR1). Going home right after he gets here is just throwing away everything you've done up to this point.

If he needs to finish work, then he ought to just stay there and finish. His visa is good for 6 months. Then have the wedding. Will he earn enough to make it worth throwing away everything you've spent getting the K1? (and paying again for a new visa?)

This is not how I planned on it working either, but what he did was put out cv to potential companys. Then when he told his company 3 months ago that he was leaving they asked him to stay and become head of the department. Which he felt he couldn't turn down, since he didnt have any job offers here. He was really worried that he wouldn't be able to get a job and he lives for his work. So I agreed that if it only for one year I would be fine with it as long as we got married. We have been apart for 6 years already whats one more. headbonk.gif

Today Andrew actually got the visa back. I one down.

Now here is my question, and I think it will work out but I need a little reassurance.

OK! Have K-1 Visa coming over to get married. Then after several days Andrew is going back to the UK. Didn't kind a job here and work asked him to stay a little longer. Then we start the cr-1 process, so he can come over later after that is complete.

Is this OK???? Will be get in trouble?? I think its probably the correct way to go about it.

Any ideas? unsure.gif

Andrew tried to do that as well, but he got his interview date only a few days before the interview. When he call up the doctors they only had an appointment the same time as interview. They offered him one the next day but ended up getting an appointment a week after the interview, which was easier for him. At the interview he just told them his appointment was the next day.

Question: When i started this process i sent a check to us dept of homeland security for 455.00 is this statement talking about this money or do i need to pay this additional amount of 400?

Here is a question for anyone that has gone to the interview.

My company is laying off and finding reason to fire people to save money. I am really worried about all of this since I am going through the visa process.

If I become unemployed will they know? I have my w2 tax for 2008 already and ones for the past two years. Do they really look at this info? What can I do to??????/

I am writing this for others who will be trying a walk-in at the Seattle office, since I was unprepared even though I researched it throughly on here before we went.

Well tried to do a walk in today at the Seattle office for our Biometrics appointment. It was a failure!

I knew the Seattle office was one of the busiest, but thought we would try since original appointment was on my due date. Got there at 7:30am and biometrics desk doesnt open until 8am. They let me in and stated to go to that desk when it opens and they will let me know. Went to the desk and they advised they could call our name if they were able to see us. So every hour a new influx of people showed up and every hour we were waiting. If you had an appointment you were there for about an hour. You walked in with a number they called it and then they let the person who needed the bio to go back. They wait in the back for the bio and then they are done. It was hard sitting there 9 months pregnant with no food for 5 hours and seeing everyone go back and leaving within an hour. I did ask later when did they usually let people without appointments back and she said it depends on when they have one of the biometrics staff with no one to service. Not sure when that would happen with an new batch of people scheduled every hour. We watched the room fill up and empty 5 times before I finally gave up. I will just have to reschedule. At least then I know the appointment will only be an hour!!!

Just got an RFE today in the mail. Dated March 1st. we don't use a joint bank account anymore since I lost my job, but we did just have a beautiful baby boy on the tenth. I think I may call them to find out exactly what they want... I don't want this messed up, we need that card asap!



I know how you feel. We also had a RFE. My letter did state what I sent that they didnt approve and what they wanted. Along with our baby girls birth certificate I also sent pictures of the three of us! Good Luck!

The RFE advised that I submitted an incomplete 2011 income tax return, expired auto insurance, expired health insurance cards, and only utility and lease agreement for previous residence.

I submitted the info in last summer so of couse the auto insurance and health cards will expire after the new year. We moved and updated our address asap so of course utility bills and lease are from previous residence. We didn't know we were moving for his new job until after he had his biometrics. On the incomplete tax return, I didnt know how much of the tax return they needed so I only sent the front page showing both of our names and filing jointly. Also when I submitted the orginial paperwork I was pregant, so they did request the birth certificate.

We got RFE (request for evidence) in the mail on Saturday! We moved after my husband had his biometrics done from WA to MD. They stated that they needed updated evidence! I can't blame them for wanting more info with us moving to make sure we are still together and after all of the visa's I have done I guess its about time I get one of these!!! :whistle:

Finally moving along - got my biometrics done almost within my regular lunch break time - inside the ASC Tukwila/Seattle for about 20 minutes max! :dance: Now the real wait begins

New Bio appointment scheduled and added to list! Funny thing is Andrew could have made our 8/24 appointment since baby came two weeks early!:) Born 8-10-12! But it will be nice to get this part over with since I now know we are moving from Seattle to Maryland in October!

Well tried to do a walk in today at the Seattle office for our Biometrics appointment. It was a failure!

I knew the Seattle office was one of the busiest, but thought we would try since original appointment was on my due date. Got there at 7:30am and biometrics desk doesnt open until 8am. They let me in and stated to go to that desk when it opens and they will let me know. Went to the desk and they advised they could call our name if they were able to see us. So every hour a new influx of people showed up and every hour we were waiting. If you had an appointment you were there for about an hour. You walked in with a number they called it and then they let the person who needed the bio to go back. They wait in the back for the bio and then they are done. It was hard sitting there 9 months pregnant with no food for 5 hours and seeing everyone go back and leaving within an hour. I did ask later when did they usually let people without appointments back and she said it depends on when they have one of the biometrics staff with no one to service. Not sure when that would happen with an new batch of people scheduled every hour. We watched the room fill up and empty 5 times before I finally gave up. I will just have to reschedule. At least then I know the appointment will only be an hour!!!

We did a walk-in for early biometrics yesterday, 08/03. It took less than 30 minutes BUT I was given a whole spiel about how the field offices are no longer supposed to do walk-ins and I was supposed to change my appt with USCIS. However, she took one look at my 12 month old son and melted. No lecture, called us 5 minutes later. :thumbs:



Thanks for the update!! We are planning on trying our walk in on Tuesday! I figure they should understand with the 9 month belly! :blush:
