After giving it some thought, do you now have any regrets with how you answered the CO in the interview? It might be worth spending some of your time right now to think of how you could have handled the situation better so that in future, you'll have a more positive outcome.

Steve

your making her out that is is at fault. Sounds like this guy is a bitter old man. I think she did find and I do not think in any other way. Even she did some things differnt I think it would be the same result. I think he is a bitter person and very rude and has very bad costomer skills. I can tell the way she describe him he was sour face right from the begining.

Take care

PhilippinesSnowing in Texas
It is not Rare that is snows in Dallas.. I lived in Dallas from 2000 to 2003.. It snowed there every year I was there. one time it snowed for over 24 hrs without stopping. The bad part of that is that it will turn to Ice.

SO I am not excited about that.

PhilippinesMy boyfriend is coming to Manila

Are you aware of just how difficult it is for a pretty young female from the Philippines to get a Visitors Visa? You'll have to demonstrate that you have very strong reasons to return to the Philippines such as a very good job, owning land & businesses etc. Having a USC boyfriend/fiancé will actually work against you as it is a compelling reason for you to overstay or try to marry him and adjust status without returning to the Philippines.

You'd be better of just applying for the K-1 after he returns to the US.

Yes that is 100% true. Try to get the k-1 route. If he wants to come back maybe you can marry there. but if you go K-1 who knows, maybe god be on your side and you will have it by winter. :)

Good luck

PhilippinesDelta flight issue

Delta did refund 100% of the purchase price plus the change ticket fee but it required alot of effort on my part. Delta said that I checked the box agreeing to this but I dont remember it.
She just landed in Honolulu leaving in another hour or so for Houston. I'll see her in 13 more hours.

I am happy things worked out for you. Today you should have your lady with you. It was a long trip she will be tired. I just want to tell you I hate Delta and I will not fly them anymore. Last time i was on Delta, my seat belt broke I just tugged it and the flight attendent was a snotty old maid who thought she could fix it. Mind you I have 10 years of Aircraft maintenance exp. and I told her, it needed to be replace.

I am happy for you

Yes the BIG mistake was the unused marriage certificate. Too bad you didn't know about this website before your interview and then you could have followed the guidelines here.

So is all that is needed to a document proving the license has not been used? How tough is that to get?

Coz if he was serious and if he meant that, that's too shallow.

True Filpinas are sensitive, but that is not very nice thing to say either joking or being serious. He should be ashamed of himself.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNotice of intent to deny
QUOTE (ronaldo @ Dec 27 2009, 08:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I received NOID saying that:
....under the provisions of section 101(a)(15)(K)....the petition....shall be approved only after satisfactory evidence is submitted by the petitioner to establish that the parties have previously met in person within 2 years before the date of filing the petition....

I met my fiance September 1 2007. I applied for 1-129F September 15 2009. So it's been 2 years and 14 days. I followed step by step all the process for K1 Visa. I submitted the following for evidence of meeting each other:
*copy of 1 of the airline ticket leaving Lebanon.
*copy of translated passport entering and leaving Lebanon.
We never took a picture of me and her together because I didn't know I needed it.
But I had 2 pictures from a party were me and her were present at that time: The first picture was me and her cousins. The second picture was her and the same cousins.

Questions:

Do you think I got the NOID because it's been just over 2 years that I met her or I didn't have a solid proof of me seeing her?

Yeap The law states within 2 years. Not 2 yrs and 3 days or 14 days.. Within.. SO better plan a trip back and have a visit

Middle East and North AfricaAdvance Parole

OMG! I just checked the USCIS update page for about the 4th time today and they touched our EAD and AOS today!

Then I checked the e-mail we use for that, and they sent us the e-mail 5 times telling us Abdel's work permit has been approved and will be mailed shortly! Wow, that was the boost I needed. I was feeling totally drained about the tires and now I'm not tired at all.

Jenn, you should be hearing something shortly. I must say Charleston is really on top of things. I hope they do all our files!

that is great.. how long did it take for the AP..I just mailed one this weekend.. I didnot expect that i would need one for my wife, but her son's case came faster then I expected.

are you seeking advance parole? if so why are you going thru security checks? do they always perform them?

I applied for AP for my wife, they said it takes 30 to 60 days to get a aproval or anwser so they call it.. It is almost 60 days now. I am about to pushing the issue now.

Could they be denied?

This is not Advanced Parole this is Administrative Processing after the interview for the visa. Before he can get his visa they do security checks and when they are cleared he will get his visa.

QUOTE (doodlebug @ Nov 3 2007, 02:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It looks awesome! Telephone/internet and tv bundled at the basic price is $99.99/month with the first month free. http://www22.verizon...t/consumerfios/ you can input your zip to see if you're eligible.

Beyond being able to bundle, and to get the arabic station and fox soccer without having to use a satellite, they also have a dvr box that lets you watch your programmed stations on any of the tv's that you have hooked up AND you can load your videos from your computer and watch them on your tv. (no i don't work for verizon. lol.)

I'm just wondering if the added price of the arabic station is worth it. I guess if nothing else if he feels homesick he can flick it on.

I tried to look up my address and it said it is not aviable in my area.. I know that is not true cause they just put the fiber in my apartment complex in the last 2 months.

I mean that alone in itself brought tears to my eyes.

JP

I swear, for the rest of my life, this is something I will never ever forget having to watch. My husband is very prideful and I've only seen him cry once before in the whole 8 years that we've been together. It was horrifying. And you know what, the whole time that he was telling his father this, his father just nodded his head and never showed emotion. He was strong and kept his pride. And I know that he did that for us...that's just the kind of man that he is.

Your Father in Law is a Very Classy person. That is how your husband got his pride from his proud father.

I hope someday I will have the honor of meeting your Father in law.

I'm just now seeing this thread, allousa. What a terrible, sad story!

I am confused though - is it actually CUSTOMS agents who boarded the plane and etc. or was it immigration agents? I always thought customs got involved second - only after the person had cleared immigration - at the point where his parent's would have been recovering their bags. I really don't understand how or why customs agents would be involved the moment the plane landed. Unless maybe they suspected them of smuggling or possessing something illegal. That's the part of the story that I really can't get my head around (not that I can comprehend their behavior in most of it).

They were actually Homeland Security officers, all of them. There were never any officers labeled from another department or section.

Since we don't know what they denied him entry for and none of us were ever told...I'm at a loss as much as you!

Hi Allousa,

how is your family holding out now? Is your husband still mad? I can tell you I am in no way involved is this horror story and I am still upset at the way he was treated. I hope they get fired, all of them. I would not pitty them one bit.

Have them check with the Consulate to run their passports and try to get an explanation as to what happened..

Contact your Congressman also, and try to get an answer...someone who has been here before with no overstay problem, etc., this is absolutely unacceptable.

This is no way to treat a senior citizen from any country!!!!!...that also had been interviewed by the Consulate and he was satisfied that they was no problem.

QUOTE (polarbear @ Oct 14 2008, 08:40 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
So I got sent home on the spot yesterday morning pending investigation and my boss is absolutely side-swiped - he had no idea this was coming.

With the budget cuts and losses of revenue lately, all of the departments have been reviewing costs and finding spending that can be cut back. The IT department reported me for excessive personal use of telephone. blink.gif

I have no idea what they consider excessive, and I'm fully aware that some companies say it's forbiden, but I didn't think I was doing it that much. My husband called everyday, but that was for help on little things and never more than a minute or two. I occasionally call my mom or a friend for a minute, but its nothing that anyone ever noticed. I did make a few doctor's appointments or a few emergency calls for my hubby from that phone blush.gif but I really didn't think it was that bad. I'm going in this afternoon to meet with HR and my boss, but I'm not very optimistic. I'm actually kinda wondering if the chefs or cooks were using my telephone at night bc I know for sure they were using the desk (it's a shared office with about 15 people, 3 computers, and it never closes wacko.gif ) but I'm certain I did contribute at least a little.

I've decided if I'm not fired on the spot, I will hand in my two weeks notice anyway. My personal life has been getting the better of me for awhile and it seems like every week there is a crisis or something I have to deal with and I will be the first one to admit it is affecting my work. My reviews have all been good, I was put into the management training program, and really did try to put my job first - my chef is shocked by the posibility of me getting fired. But despite all of this, I am being pulled in too many directions and its taken a toll on me and is effecting my health. I have to get my sh!t pulled together and take care of myself before I loose my health completely, my 4.0 in school, and let my husbands company go down the drain in paperwork not done. unsure.gif

This choice is just so scarry with the current economic situation. I'm also scared about loosing my health insurance. I know that if I leave with notice I have the option of paying to extended the coverage for another 6 months, but I don't know if I will have that option if I am fired. What happens to the 2 weeks vacation I never got to use? Will that get paid out if I'm fired?

I friggin hate not knowing and the wait until this afternoon is killing me..... I think I should just go write my resignation letter and have it ready to take with me blush.gif

even if you were fired, they have to offer you COBRA. It is a federal law. So you will still get health insurance. It has to be offed to you.

they should pay your 2 weeks vacations and what ever. Dont worry too much.

I tried to send one to Cairo in the mail and the customs people confiscated it. They told my husband they were mailing it back to the person who sent it, but I never got it back. 40 bucks down the drain.
I did bring one with me when I moved here so that's fine, as I left one for family back in the states.
I know some people had no trouble mailing the magic jack here, so who knows, maybe you'll be able to do so.
Something else to consider is that at times, the sound and connection aren't that great. I get a lot of static or the line cutting in and out. Not always, but when it happens you really can't have a conversation.

yeah right, the told him they sent it back, but I bet you they kept it.

I would just bring one with me if I went there. My wife is going back to the Philippines, I may get one so she can call me when she gets there, and when she leaves give it to her sister so she can call her for free.

take care

Holy Cow.. that is so sad. Such a nice looking lad and such a cute daughter that now has no father.

I hope they catch the shooter, then shoot he dead then give him a trial.

He is a loser and has no value for human life

you have my prayers

There is 'right' and there is 'policy'.

I've no interest in digging up the policy references.

This does get 'harder' though, when the clearance is 'higher' ...

I have a DOD sercet Clearance. They do ask you to list any NON-USC. I had to put my Wife and step son. It will inculde if you live next to someone that is from say Iraq, but you do not know him or are not friends but you have to list him care you are in presence of a non usc.

I do not think they mean you have to sevare ties with someone that is a international couple.

I went there .....2 times. The first night and the second night. I felt I had to be there.

Ryan my heart goes out to you and your family, especially your sweet mother. I know she won't see this, so will you please tell her I think about her often? Thx.

Jackie

HI Jackie,

Yes it is sad. I am very sad that this happen to a very kind person. I my heart goes out to her family.

I think about this every once in awhile and it gets me upset. This is one death that should of have never happen.

I just wish that I could give her mother a big bear hug.

Just hope you and Ryan keep us all up to date. The 28th is day after my birthday and I hope this thread will start to jump with more info.

I am thankful for the people who held the Scum Bag Chop F##k Drunk until Police arrived.
