US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHong Kong crime certifcate problem

Hey, I am in the same boat. What did you do in the end?

I gave up trying to speak to someone and just hoped for the best to be honest. I sent a copy of the letter from the US Embassy asking for my documents and information etc. This seemed to work from the Hong Kong end. Im not sure about the US Embassy end.

Ive just had my medical and I am waiting for the interview. So fingers crossed everything is OK.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHong Kong crime certifcate problem

Hi all,

I am in the process of collecting the documents required to take for my k1 visa interview in London.

The problem is that I need a crime certificate from hong kong as I previously worked there for a few years. In order to get the crime certificate, I need a letter from the US embassy requesting for a criminal record check and the criminal record check will be sent to the US embassy directly. As far as I'm aware the US embassy in London does not provide this letter and insists on no correspondence directly to the embassy.

Obviously, without this police check I cant proceed to the interview and I find myself in a catch-22 situation. I have emailed the US embassy a number of times and have yet to receive a reply. It has proved almost impossible to get any information until I stumbled upon this website (which is great by the way)!

Has anyone else had this problem before?

Would it be worth just filing the DS2001 form to book my interview and explain the situation there?

thanks,

Shaun
