Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTSC late April I-751 filers

I'm so glad I saw this post.

We filed my I-751 at the end of April (USPS receipt says they received it on the 25th).

They have not cashed our check yet.

I have not received a receipt.

I am starting to panic. Everyone else seems to have had their checks cashed ASAP.... I need that receipt since I am planning to fly back to the UK in July for a wedding where I'm in the bridal party!

Why, oh why is this process so difficult?!?!?

Anyone else have such a long wait between filing and check cashing/receipt?

Did you file it in the TSC or some other service center? (It would allow others to be more helpful to you if you put in some of this kind of basic info in your profile.) If not, I've heard that one or two of the other service centers (VSC?) takes their sweet time cashing checks.

I filed to the VSC. Having read some posts on here since I wrote the above, it seems like it is taking Vermont up to a month to cash the check, so I'll just sit quietly until then.

I got my I751 receipt/NOA on June 1st. I also have not received anything about biometrics. When you call the customer service #, the phone system won't let you talk to a person....

IN ORDER TO GET AHOLD OF SOMEONE WHEN YOU CALL THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE, DIAL THE OPTION THAT SAYS "IF YOU ARE CALLING IN REGARDS TO A MISTAKE IN THE FORM YOU RECEIVED OR YOUR NAME WAS MISSPELLED" IF YOU HIT THAT OPTION YOU'LL GET TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE...I DID IT LAST WEEK...THEY'LL START MAKING QUESTIONS, AND THEN YOU HAVE TO TELL THEM YOUR RECEIPT NUMBER AND THAT'S IT!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

Thank you.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHas anyone been denied a driver's licence while lifting conditions?
I have had nothing but trouble with the NJ DMV since I moved to the US in 2000.

I came over on a J-1 and was told I didn't need/couldn't get a NJ license. Then I went to renew my car insurance and was told I no longer could drive without a NJ license.... Cue frantic trip to DMV, which turned into a 4 hour ordeal. I finally left with my license which was only valid for the length of time remaining on my visa (about 4 months). Even though I was in the middle of a H1B application....

Then I had to go back about 4 times in 2 years to renew my license. One time I showed up at 8.00AM to find the parking lot totally full. I had to park down the highway in an office parking lot and then walk along the shoulder to the DMV. I then waited on line outside in Feb temperatures for 2 hours. When I finally got inside the guy guarding the door told me that I should have been in line earlier and would never be seen that day. He said the people "like you" start waiting in line from 5AM onwards in order to get seen that day. At that point I almost started crying. I kept talking to him and sort of waved my paperwork at him, and then he suddenly said "oh go over to that window", I did and was processed within the hour. It's totally random.

Fortunately, they now have changed the rules so that aliens "like me" don't have to go to the Regional Service Center (which is hell on a stick), but can instead go to some of the larger offices as well.

But every time I go they tell me something different, or want something different from me. I can't wait to have an argument with them about the NOA's validity. I think my current ALIEN license expires in October.

Oh joy.

If anyone else has problems, I'd just try showing your paperwork to as many different people in each office as you can. And try other offices if possible. Sooner or later you find someone who is not totally disinterested or angry, and they'll help you out.

Good luck!

Okay, Kelly!

Hi,
I got my blue letter, I got my NOA (June 1st it arrived) but I have not received anything about biometrics appointment. Is this normal or do you think I should call and ask them?

Thanks.

This is just a WILD guess...but i'm thinking maybe it has something to do with the newark office because we recieved our NOA 1 on monday and still no word. Yet Gringa, who is following the EXACT same time line as me but lives in Philidelphia has already gotten her biometrics letter. Perhaps the newark office takes longer to schedule appointments. I don't know. Keep me posted if you hear anything, I'll do the same!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionApril filers for I-751 in Vermont

My 751 was received in Vermont on April 23rd.

I just got my blue letter today (May 21). They have not cashed my check yet.

Am somewhat annoyed that my life is constantly at the mercy of the USCIS... am going to go ahead and book my flights to england in July (am in a wedding) and if I don't get the NOA before then I'll just have to get an infopass appointment for a stamp.. that can be done, right?

I can't wait until this is all over. I came over originally on a J1 so this has been going on 7 years of forms, filing, checks and waiting in line at places like Newark INS and the DMV.. I'm done! Citizenship, here I come!

hey there.

yeah book your flights. I'm in pretty much the same camp as you except our flights have been booked for months, we are traveling back to england for my husband's sisters wedding. From everything I've read I'm sure you can get an info pass appt to get a 551 stamp in your passport. do you have a lawyer? If you do it may not be a bad idea to have them send INS a letter from your lawyer stating that you are in a wedding in england with copies of your travel recipts and the wedding invitation. I included those things in my packet hoping that it would have some affect. but if they've even opened my packet at this point i'd be suprised.

info pass appts seem fairly easy to get, if i make one i'm going to bring copies of my travel plan reciepts and the wedding invite, as well as the copy of the 751 packet i made. I'm waiting until the middle of June to get our extension letter and if that doesn't happen then i'm making an appt.

i know it's frustrating. hang in there. OH what is the difference between the "blue letter" and the green card extenstion letter? i can't believe they haven't even cashed your check....what in the world is going on in vermont?

I have no idea about the blue letter, it seems to be a receipt for the fees - but since they didn't cash the check it seems a little weird to have the receipt already....!

I have also been holding off on booking the flights until I got enough BA miles for a free ticket  which just happened so I'm going to do it soon.

How long have you been here? Whereabouts in NJ are you? I'm in Passaic county.
