This is really wonderful news and information... and Ialso read the link that Bob sent... I am so excited to know this. My only concern is what if it's stuck in administrative processing where I thought it was due to making sure youre a "good guy" because of a HIT or match with your name.

So am I right to say that 1. I can have the medical with my MNL number/and NOA 2 and 2. that I can actually schedule my interview after med exam without the appt letter as long as the Manila Embassy actually has recd our file by calling the call center and having them email us an appt letter?

Thanks everyone for all the support and guidance you've offered. I am very greatful!!! star_smile.gif

I received two letters also. Both dated a couple of days apart. Don't worry about it. If it has been 11 days since you received the first letter you should go ahead and call the embassy to schedule your appointment with your MNL #.

Bob when my fiance called NVC on the 26, they said it hasnt left yet??? Do you think I should still call USEM just to check?

Calling the NVC is not necessary. Have your fiance call the embassy to find out if they received your file. DO NOT WAIT for the embassy to contact you with a letter. If the embassy has received your file then have your fiance call the call center to make your appointment for the interview. Since you have an MNL # and your NOA2 you can go to St Luke's and start your medical. I'm not sure how far you are from Manila but plan to stay overnight.

Good luck.

I am happy to report that at 6:30 am the parking lot was almost full. So that makes me pretty darn happy. It looks like they are at work before I usually am out of bed and they are working until at least 10pm on Friday nights. Not sure how many hours a full time employee actually works there but I hope they are racking up some overtime and getting some extra money for the holidays. The more OT for them the faster we all get processed.

Unfortunately it does not seem like they work on Saturdays or Sundays. There were only 5 or 10 cars in the parking lot over the weekend. I drove by there at 9pm Monday night however and again the parking lot was packed.

I would love to know how many shifts they have and what time the begin and end work each day. Maybe I'll have time to swing by there early one morning this week.

I drove by the NVC last night, Friday Nov 14th at about 10pm. The parking lot was packed and the lights were blazing inside. About 6 weeks ago they hired another 20 people and I think they are gearing up for a huge push in processing.

I will be driving past there today and will let you all know if they are there working today on a Saturday.

4.1 NOA2 EXPIRATION DATE - Don't be alarmed if the visa interview is scheduled after the NOA2 expiration date because the Consular Officer (CO) at the Manila Embassy will automatically revalidate the petition by extend the expiration date in four months increments until all actions are finalized . Of course but do it in quadruplicate, just like the G325a itself.

Thanks for the reply.. Is there anything in particular that I need to state on the extra sheet of paper? Or should I use a blank G325A and attach it to the completed form?

Attach a blank piece of paper. Make sure you label it as an addendum to G325a Employment History. Make sure you make 4 copies.

We got all the supporting documents to prove that I am fine now..
Is this really enough for me to pass the medical examination on my X-rays?
In addition my fiance took a skin test last January this year and the result was NEGATIVE, do you think this will also help me pass my medical?

Please, I would love and very happy to hear from someone that will heartily give their advices and answers to my concern smile.gif

Supporting documents or not what really matters is the chest xray done at St Luke's. If your lungs have any scars from TB you will most likely have to undergo a sputum test. Cherel just went through all of that, and although she had note's from Dr's saying that she no longer had active TB she still needed to undergo the sputum test.

PhilippinesMaybe some valuable info for scheduling interview
I've been reading here about whether or not you should wait for the letter from the Embassy before you call to schedule the appointment. I just want to share what happened to Cherel and I with you all. The NVC received our files from VSC on 10/24/2008. I received a letter from the NVC on the 10/28/2008. The letter said that the files would be forwarded to Manila in approximately one week.

On 11/04/2008, election night here in the states, I called the embassy and spoke to Grace. She told me that the embassy had received our files but I would probably have to wait until 11/11/2008 before I could call and schedule our interview. She told me that there was no reason to wait for the embassy to send a letter.

Not being a patient sort of guy when I got home from work yesterday evening, 11/05/2008, I figured what the hell I'll buy a pin for 18 bucks to see if I can schedule an interview now. WOW I was shocked when I called. Paul at the call center was able to access all of our information. He asked me when I would like the interview. I jokingly said how about next week. He told me that he could schedule us for the 12th if Cherel already had her medical completed. (Apparently as soon as you get your MNL # from the embassy you can take that # and a copy of your NOA2 and have your medical completed). Since we did not have the medical done we scheduled our interview for November 19th. (the medical must be completed at least 1 full week before your interview).

Paul emailed us our appointment letter, I called Cherel, woke her up and told her to go ahead and go to Manila. I got her a room at the City Gardens Suites, the room was nice but Cherel said the air conditioner did not work very well.

As I sit here typing this Cherel is having her medical. She is nervous, I am nervous for her. So far the people at St. Lukes have been friendly and helpful.

So, has anybody else heard that you can have your medical done with just your NOA2 and MNL#? As far as waiting for a letter from the Embassy before you call to schedule your appointment I can only say Cherel and I did not do it and our appointment is scheduled almost 20 days sooner than we had anticipated.

Good luck to all

Dried Mangoes are not fresh fruit so there should be no problem bringing them into the country. You will only have to pay taxes on them if they are assessed at a high dollar amount. I am not sure how much money they would have to be worth before they would be taxed.

No need to Schedule the medical. In fact you can't schedule it. Strictly first come first served. Get your fiance a copy of the letter from the NVC. That is all the guard will need to see to let her into St. Luke's. Tell her to arrive early.

If you just received the letter from the NVC wait a week before you call the embassy for her appointment date.

I am confused... its not hard, I get that way a lot... blush.gif

I was under the impression that my lady only needed a copy of my NVC letter (MNL case number) and her passport to get her medical done.

I keep reading about some 'appointment letter'??

Whats this??
Where do I get it?
How do I get one?

I thought you could not set up an appointment for the medical...

GWN

You DO NOT need the appointment letter to go get the medical taken care of. The appointment letter is the letter from the embassy telling you the date of your fiance's interview date. This letter will be sent to you via email almost immediately after you talk to the embassy to make the appointment. It will also be sent via DHL to your fiance. You will also receive one via the mail. DO NOT wait until you get this letter to have your fiance go for her medical. Scan a copy of your NOA2, along with the letter you received from the NVC with your MNL# on it. Your fiance can print both of those, go to Manila, get in line at St. Luke's at 6am, show the guard both documents and have the first day of her medical complete by 2pm.

I notice you posted that the embassy has told you that there is a backlog getting cases input to their system. If that is truly the case then you could conceivably be done with the medical before the embassy has logged your file. If you do complete the medical before your file is logged then once it is logged you can ask for the first available appointment for the interview. Don't be surprised if it is only 1 or 2 weeks after your case is logged.

Good luck

Once we read it we noticed that the expiration date listed was on April 20, 2009. Is this correct? I thought that the K1 was good for entry up to 6 months after being issued and then it was valid for up to 90 days after entering the States. April 20th seems so soon.

Waiting and waiting and waiting. Seems like we have been waiting forever. Cherel checks the UCSIS website every night before she goes to bed in the Philippines, I check the website 2 times a day from here in New Hampshire. Just a touch.... Just touch the file so we know that something is happening with it. I want to call the VSC and change my address just so that the file gets touched, just to see the July 11, 2008 change to a new date.

On a less self pitying note... Does anybody know if the fact that I need to have surgery on my spine in December would help speed the process along? Nothing too serious but they will be fusing some cervical vertebrae together. I had planned on flying to the Philippines and flying back here to the States with Cherel. Now I need to have spinal surgery on December 12th and will not be able to fly for at least 45 days after the surgery. I really do not want her to fly alone especially all the way to the east coast. She really is not too keen to make that flight alone as well.

Any comments, suggestions, etc.... are welcome.

Thanks in advance

Giving her time to get ready mentally is a big part of this all. Everything happening right before the holidays probably did not help things. Let her have the holidays with her family in the Phils.

Set a FIRM date for her to come to the States sometime in January. If she tries to delay that date then you probably do have something to worry about.

Before you commit to marriage I would wait until the last possible moment before that K1 expires to actually have the ceremony. 90 days is not a lot of time to make sure you are both 100% committed to the marriage but i is better than nothing.

I've never really understood the 90 day marry or go home logic behind the K1. 90 days is just long enough to realize that you can't live without some one, another 90 after that you realize you can't live with someone.

Wow. This would be a great story about 2 cultures coming together or the problems of 2 cultures coming together. Unfortunately this is real life and not just a story.

My fiance, Cherel, who is filipana happens to agree with "GwizCraig". She feels like the GF should growup. She applied for the VISA, she got approved, she should be ready to go to the States on a moments notice. She thinks that it is ridiculous for the GF to delay this.

I happen to feel badly for the GF in this situation. I imagine that her family is putting an unbearable amount of pressure on her to just stay with them for this one last xmas. She is probably looking for some support and understanding from "GwizCraig". I imagine she is quite scared to move away from the only home she has ever known.

Why don't you just set a firm date after the New Year for her to be here. When she arrives you can set up an xmas tree together, celebrate it on the 25th of January and have a wonderful story to tell your child when he/she is older. (Santa actually came to visit you in the Phils and the States for your 1st Xmas).

I can understand your desire to be with your child for the first xmas, I can understand you not being able to fly over there due to work, but be a man about this. The holidays come every year. You have the rest of your life to be with her and the child. Make her happy. This is about her.
