US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDifferent Packet 3 Instructions for Bangkok Consulate (K1)
Hi Alan,

I'm glad you responded. I thought I was the only one who got confused with the different info. It's a pity that very few people responded to this question. Well, I have only a week before I get the police clearance so I have left with no options but to send all required documents.

Thanks again for responding and good luck to you and to us!

Hi all,

I just want to ask those who have done all the paper works for K1 in Bangkok Consulate.

In the Packet 3 checklist that I received it says:

First: Obtain all documents on this list that apply to your case.

Second: As soon as you have obtained ALL the documents required to process your case, you must send them to this office with a completed and signed Form DS 2001.

But in this website : http://bangkok.usemb...isa_packet3.pdf, it says:

Step 1: prepare all documents on this checklist. All documents must be obtained and in your possession before the
interview can be scheduled.

Step 2. Once you have all the documents in your possession, complete and sign this Checklist of Documents and
return it with your DS 230 Part 1, a photocopy of passport photo page for each applicant and two
photographs for each applicants to the embassy by mail..

Step 3. Your interview will be scheduled when we received the items in step 2. You
must bring all of the other items on the checklist with you at the time of your
interview.

In this above mentioned website, I understood it to mean I only need to sign the checklist of documents, and send in two documents; the DS 230 Part 1 and DS 156 so the consulate can schedule the interview.

I have all the papers ready except for the police clearance from Bangkok Police which would be released on August 25, 2009 (3 weeks from application date). I want to send the Packet 3 documents now to get an early interview appointment date rather than wait for August 25.

Is it possible to send only the signed checklist, DS 230 Part I and DS 156 and bring all other documents on the day of the interview? Is there anyone out here who have done this? Please help and thanks in advance for the response.

Hey Brother Joe,

First of all, I did my Package 3 paperwork a few years ago, but I believe that the process is still 'overall' the same now as it was then.

Back then, I did not wait for my package 3 paperwork to come in the snailmail for my 'now wife'. I followed the internet instruction 100%. I still chat with a lot of Thai couples on VJ and I would speculate that the majority of those folks also follow the website instructions. In fact, I know for fact of several couples who also did not wait on the snailmail Package 3, and did as I did by downloading the forms from the internet and following those instructions from the internet.

In fact, I remember that it was almost a month after downloading the forms from the internet and sending them in, before my 'then fiancee' received the Package 3 in snailmail. I remember we looked at it together, and it really was a sloppy package. Some of the forms were even outdated! However, I kept this Package 3 as a 'souvenier' <haha>

You'll do fine following the instruction and downloading the Package 3 forms from the the BKK consulate website.

Peace to you and your fiancee and congrats on your visa journey thus far! Sounds like it is going well!

Hey Mark, Thanks so much for the response and peace to you too, Brother..

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMedical Exam Experience in Bangkok

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMedical Exam Experience in Bangkok
My daughter and I, just had our medical exam yesterday at Bungmungrad Hospital in Bangkok and would like to share our experience to other applicants filing in Bangkok Consulate.

I did as what was instructed in the Packet 3, that is, to download medical forms forms: DS2053, DS3024,DS3025, and DS3026 and fill up all the forms. I also brought 3 pcs of ID pics. When I got to the hospital, the guy at the counter in the 10th flr of Bungmungrad told me that the medical forms at the USEM websites are already outdated. So he gave me the new ones but it I have to pay 200Baht for the new medical forms. That was ok with me, but when I asked him if I could only pay for one and photocopy the other form for my daughter, the guy said, cannot photocopy. So, with a heavy heart, I paid 400Baht for the medical forms and he didn't even issue a receipt. Also, only one pic was needed as they took picture of us and printed on the forms.

Overall, the medical exam in Bangkok wasn't as rigid/scary as compared to St Luke Medical Center in the Philippines. As what Ive heard from my friends who had undergone med exam in the Phils., they have to get undressed to check the breast, the #######, and the genitals. In Bangkok, they examined only my eyes, ears, throat, took my BP, weight, height, heart/pulse, knees/joints, X-ray (with the hospital gown on), took blood for HIV, 2 vaccinations for me, and 5 for my daughter.

The medical exam result were all good but very expensive. I paid a total amount of 12, 783.00Baht, excluding the 400 Baht medical forms. Plus, the nurse/attendant told us to come back after 4 weeks to get two more vaccine shots. I asked if I have to pay again, and she said yes. Pay another doctor's fee, and vaccine fee. I asked her again what will happen if we wont come back to get the second dose. The nurse said, it's ok, the vaccine shots can be done in the US once we get there.

I have to ask this question here in VJ, what will happen if we wont take this vaccine shots (second dose of MMR-Measles-mumps-rubella)? will it affect our application?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsQuestion About number of photographs required in Packet 3 forms
Can anyone please help me about this bugging question of my day?

In the list of documents required for K1, it asked for two (2) pcs of photographs. In DS-156 page 1 application form, there is a portion at the lower end that says "staple or glue photo here". Do I need to attach one of the 2 photos there, or leave it empty or attach one photo on the form plus 2 more photos.

Thanks to those who find time to respond to this very elementary question. blush.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK-1 Petion Expiry Date Versus Visa Expiration Date

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK-1 Petion Expiry Date Versus Visa Expiration Date
Hi all,

Our K1 visa was finally approved dated Nov. 24, 2009 but was only released last December 22, 2009.

There's one thing that I want to ask about the visa. While it says the visa expiration date is 22 May 2010, there is a portion below the annotation that says: "K-1 petition expires on March 09, 2010". I am not sure what that date means.

We (my daughter and I) intend to travel to the US on the first week of April 2010 because I still have to finish my work contract and also my daughter has to complete high school in order to get her diploma and other academic certificates. I have to clarify this said expiration date to make sure there won't be any issues to contend with once we are set to go..

Please, can anyone here help clarify this for us?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresProcessing of Petition in Other Country
QUOTE (Lancelotte25 @ Jun 23 2009, 10:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am married to a US citizen and on July 11 is our one year Anniversary. I'm currently working in Saudi Arabia for 8 years now. Me and my wife is having some arguement about the filing of my petition here in Saudi Arabia instead of going back to the Philippines, I told her that it can be done here, but she is keep on insisting that it's not possible. I don't want to go back in the Philippines once the petition is being processm, It's because I know it will take more time to get an approval and I can't stay in the Philippines without a job while waiting for the interview and the whole thing to get it done.

Please, if there's someone knows here or have experience just like mine, please let me know, I need to make sure that it's ok to process the petition here in Saudi Arabia instead of going back to the Philippines, besides I know the processing here is a bit faster than in the Philippines.

Hi Lancelotte25,

Im fromt he Phils and my fiance and I filed our application (k1) here in Thailand. I also knew of two other pinays who filed their petition (K3) here in Thailand. They are now happily living in US. Tell your wife it's possible and it can be done. Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiling K1 for foreign fiancee who is working abroad
QUOTE (simbolo @ Aug 8 2009, 01:59 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all,

I have searched for information regarding my question and found none thus I must post...

I have filed I-129F for my Filipino fiancee about a month ago. She is currently working in Dubai UAE and I was wondering if this will be a problem once the time comes for her to do the medical part and interview. Will she have to go back to the Phils to get these things done? Anyone have experience with a similar situation?

thanks a lot...

______

Hi Simbolo,

I am from the Philippines but working in Thailand. My fiance also filed for I-129 F for me and I did all my paper works without going back home to the Philippines. For my NBI/police clearance , Birth cert and other documents, I asked my relatives back home to process the papers for me. I just sent them an authorization letter, copy of passport, id pic and money of course.

Now, Im just waiting for the interview date. Good luck to all of us.
