I just shared my experience.. since we moved here now in MS and soon LA..im glad my husband found a good job here with insurance that includes my pregnancy..thank God! But i had my first check up in Denton,TX the social worker filled up the CHIPS application for us just few questions then they will tell you to wait for your CHIP Card in the mail.. Philippines	Building and Extension on house in Philippines	I built a small house on Mindanao. I've built numerous houses in the USA, log structures in Alaska, and this reinforced concrete block house there in the philippines. I mean I built them myself, not paid a contractor to do it. I run heavy equipment, do carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical - all of it. Your question is pretty broad - there are some structural issues and some cost issues that are pretty big-picture items like whether the existing foundation contemplated a second story and how much reconstruction you have to do in order to get the second story in. It might be cheaper to build a place from scratch or just buy one if there is too much involved. You can have a structural engineer look at the foundation and whatever is involved in the second story and give you an opinion on that. Yes, absolutely there is an Americano price and a Filipino price for everything. I wouldn't touch anything with a ten foot pole if I wasn't there doing the construction myself. I want to see receipts and pay the other men on the job with my own hands. I ran into minor corruption and cronyism on things like electrical and phone but my family knew who and how much to pay to speed things up. I couldn't imagine building in Metro Manila. I'm a country boy and cities here are bad enough with ridiculous building code/inspection tyrannies. I would do some study on what it is like in metro manila. Permits, delays, inspections, bribery - that's where it can become a big hassle and I don't know Manila. But I would sure want to find out. Labor is really, really cheap there. We were paying 200 pesos a day plus snacks for unskilled. 250 for someone with masonry skills. I paid an electrical contractor 350 pesos a day after I left because I had not finished all of the wiring, but he was the most expensive guy, and there wasn't much left to do. So I do think that if you oversee it tightly you can build very cheaply there. Philippines	All pregnant Mommies	@Kaibigan, ako dati merong iron, prenatal at calcium pills pero bihira kong ininom yung mga yun Tamad kasi ako at malilimutiin sa pag-inom ng gamot hehe. Depende yata sa prenatal vitamins mo kung meron na cyang kasamang calcium. Calcium is important din kasi si baby eh inaagaw ang calcium mo. Kung kulang ang calcium mo sa katawan eh ikaw ang mahihirapan kasi nga si baby ang kumukha ng calcium mo. Ang isang bad result ng kulang sa calcium eh maaaring masira ipin mo or mabungal ka. Yung pinsan ko sa pinas, twice cya nagbuntis at kada pagbubuntis nya eh natanggalan cya ng wisdom tooth. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pink - salamat ulit, one thing din kaya di ako mahilig sa gatas kc nagloloko ang tyan ko pag umiinom ako deretso agad sa cr.. sabi ng byenan ko bilhin daw namin yung 1% or 2% nakalagay wag whole milk..bakit kc walang anmum dito katulad sa pinas eh yung prenatal vitamins ko meron naman syang 15% calcium dahil kay baby kaya pinipilit kong i take ang vitamins everyday pipilitin ko na ring uminom ng gatas,takot akong mabawasan ipin ko sakit kaya un. Philippines	Got a GC, but my passport will expire this year do i need to renew it before taking a 3 week vacation?	The 6 month requirement by immigrations has nothing to do with you traveling now. As long as it is valid its good for travel. Re-newing your passport while in the Phils sounds like a good idea and a lot simpler than trying to do it here.. Yes, Thank you! i hope 3 weeks is enough for me to renew my passport in the philippines. Also, I noticed your signature says that you will be filing the I-751 in April of this year? The Bureau of Immigration strongly recommend and requires Filipinos(though a PR here you still hold a Phil passport) traveling to have a passport that is valid for at least 6months.You might not have a problem returning here since they just usually check your GC . Renew it as not to encounter any problems at the airport. Better be safe than sorry. GC will allow you entry back into the USA but you will need a valid passport for travel as well, as long as you return before it expires I don't see the issue. For peace of mind I would get it renewed. Philippines	Anybody here traveled with their babies? please give me some tips	My baby was only 2 months old when i brought him here from the Philippines. I had a safe easy flight. Tips that i can share:. 1. ONLY buy bottled water inside the airport facilities if u are bottle feeding since water is not allowed unless bought inside the airport. 2.Make sure she has something to chew on when the plane is taking off to prevent ear ache..it worked for me and my baby. 3. You can bring a handy stroller with u just check the airline. 4. If the child has no ticket of his own make sure u have to be there early and look for vacant seats at the back of the plane so u and ur child can sleep better.If she don't have a ticket and bassinets is not provided u will have to have the child on ur lap the whole flight. 5.Last but not the least inform the airlines that u need assistance that way they will give u an assistance or an airline personnel to walk u through till boarding without getting in line. I did that and it was free. Happy Trip and be safe P.s I see u are due on May?? Make sure u have the doctor's permission to fly as u are only allowed to travel at 7 months. thank you for your reply i will not bring my infant baby when i go back to the phillippines for a vacation but my daughter which is more older. by that time she'll be 1 year and 10 months old. for sure the airline will provide whole milk or 2% or bottled water that she can drink if they will not allow me to bring some..included for her meal..me and my husband decided to get her own seat. bringing a handy stroller is a good idea. Philippines	Anybody here traveled with their babies? please give me some tips	my baby eat solid food so it is more easier and she drinks lots of juice and water. i think i will just bring plenty of healthy food and snacks for her and prolly bring only her stuff. like important things(diapper,few clothes and medicine just incase).
