PERFECT!!! very informative, salamat and congrats! kicking.gif good.gif

QUOTE (beng_and_carl @ Jan 9 2008, 10:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Based on my interview experience last Jan 8, 2008… here are my tips, observations and suggestions:

1. Most convenient time to arrive at the Embassy is around 5.30AM. You won’t need to wait outside for so long and spend P20 to rent a chair. Just wait at the area in front of the Miramar Hotel. If your appointment time is 6.30AM, it’s still ok to arrive there around 5.30AM. The embassy guards start to call around 5.45-6AM.

2. Eat enough breakfast before going to your Big Day! Bring some candies or chewing gum to refresh your mouth. Your fellow applicants won’t be happy if they will smell a fouling odor from your mouth. Hehe! Just a friendly reminder. You can also bring a bottle of water inside coz it’s expensive to buy inside the embassy.

3. It is suggested to wear a business attire – blouse with collar and slacks. This is to show that the embassy staff and officers that you mean business and this will also confidence. Put some make up but not too much.

4. When the guards start calling you based on your appointment time, prepare your appointment letter and a valid ID with picture. NBI clearance is accepted.

5. Just follow the line and you will get inside the embassy premises in few minutes.

6. NEVER BRING any ELECTRONIC GADGET with your like mobile phones, USB, memory cards, charger, camera and the like. They will send you outside if they saw something in your baggage from their electronic scanner (like the one in the airports).

7. Once you are inside the embassy building, you may sit down at the blue chairs and wait for the guard for the instructions or signal for you to fall in line.

8. Be patient! Remember that patience is a virtue. After all, you will be done with the K1/K3 journey in few more hours.

9. The guard will call the K applicants by row (blue chairs). Then, you will be directed to the Priority Number window. You will then be asked to submit your duly accomplished DS Forms (2 DS156 with BARCODE and PICTURE GLUED on it –with printed name, signature & date of interview at the back; 2 DS 157 – 1 on-line or from the packet and 1 from the bank with a validation code; 1 DS 156K – you can write the name of your fiancé at the lower portion of this form). Then, they will give you a priority number that you will use for the rest of the of interview proceedings. Keep your queuing number and don’t give it to the windows where you will be called. Then, have a seat and wait for your number to FLASHED at the BOARDS inside the embassy.

10. My name was called for the finger scanning – not my queuing number. So be attentive all the time. But you can chat with your seatmates, VJ sisters and fellow applicants but be attentive!

11. On finger scanning, make sure that your fingers are clean and dry. Follow the instructions carefully.

12. Have a seat and wait for your number to be flashed on the boards for the pre-screening with a Filipino officer.

13. For the pre-screening session with a Filipino officer, greet him with your smile and compose yourself. For my case, he spoke to me in Tagalog so it’s easier. And I heard from the others that they were talking as well in Tagalog. But the thing is, if they ask you in Tagalog, answer them in Tagalog. If in English, then answer them in English. Listen carefully with his questions and answer them clearly and you may give them supporting documents for your answer such as your SO’s employment record, tax documents, photos, communication correspondences, etc. Then, he will instruct you to sit down and wait for your number to be flashed on the boards again.

14. On arranging your documents, it must be organized, neatly done and easy to access. If you will use clear books or folders like I did, it should be also HALF an INCH thick, with cover page and tabs on the side for easy reference. I will post a picture of my folders here soon.

15. While waiting for your number to be flashed on the boards, internalize the basic and personal information about your SO, your relationship and everything about you (you and your SO). Remember all the happy moments with your SO and start

16. They will start calling the K applicants around 10.15-10.30 AM and it will start with queuing number 7001. With this, compose yourself, have some retouch with your make-up or powder and PRAY HARD!!!

17. And now, it’s the time for the consular interview. TAKE A DEEP BREATH and release all your nervousness and worries before entering the room of the consul.

18. Greet the consul with a smile. If there’s any occasion in line like Christmas, New Year, etc, don’t hesitate to greet him/her. In this way, you will add a happy ambience for your interview. Let the consul start the conversation. In answering the questions, look into her eyes to establish eye contact. For questions that you really don’t know the answer, simply say, “I don’t know the answer for the moment” or “We never talked about that yet.” The consul knows if you are lying. So, answer truthfully. You may present additional documents or folders for your answers as supporting docs. if the question needs to answered with Yes or No, simply answer with a Yes or No. If the consul asks for your SO's job, simply state his job and company. At the end of the interview session, you may ask the consul politely if you’re approved though I didn’t do this she told that my documents are fine and they will just do some document verification. Then, thank the consul and exit properly.

19. While waiting for your number to called in Windows 37 or 38, thank God for a wonderful time with the consul.

20. When you’re called at Window 37 or 38, they will give you a pink slip, your appointment letter, another document from the embassy, all the documents that you submitted to them earlier like photos, communication correspondences, etc. Then, they will tell you that wait for few weeks coz they need to do some document verification. This time, if you paid beforehand the P650 document verification fee in Metrobank, show them the original copy of the deposit slip and give them a photocopy of it. Have the receipt photocopied before you go to your interview, which I forgot to do. Hehe! Then, include on the paper the ff details: date of your interview, case number, passport number, petitioner’s name and beneficiary’s name. Then, thanked them.

21. If you will need a visa pick up, prepare a letter before the interview. This letter must be addressed to the Consular Officer and you may give it to the consul before you leave his room and ask him if you can do a visa pick up. If the consul didn’t approve it, try again and ask the officer at Windows 37 or 38 and present to them your letter or request and wait for the result of your request.

22. For visa delivery, pay at the Delbros booth. They will give you a sheet of paper that you will fill up. Put your delivery address – your residence or office address. Then, pay the P165 delivery fee.

23. Exit the Embassy with a short thanksgiving prayer and wear your sunglasses if it’s hot outside. CALL YOUR SO and tell him/her your good news! Then, call/tx your loved ones! Woooohhhhhhooooooo!!!!!!

24. Post your interview experience, tips and suggestions here in VJ! Yebah! Hehe!!!

Im in manila now and looking for a person{ physical office} of some one that can help my fiancee with her k-1 visa in manila. Does anyone know of a businees over here that does this at a reasonable price. I will only be here for a few more days and if anybody can help that would be great. An actual name or phone number would be fantastic.

the only form she has to fill out is g-325a, and it will be all up to you to start your petition. just read the guides and follow them. in my opinion i don't think i will trust any other person or even a lawyer that is to work on my papers. i have read lots of posts about lawyers screwing up making the waiting time longer compared to doing it on your own. following the guides are the easiest part of the journey but waiting for the uscis to approve your petition will make you want to pull your hair out. just my opinion whistling.gif

I agree! good.gif not only that it's cheaper cuz u will not need to pay lawyers or service charge to travel agencies, but also u'll be sure that your process is in good hands since you're the one working on it, it's not really hard though, like what's written above, THIS SITE IS VERY HELPFUL AND INFORMATIVE, so just keep on visiting, posting and asking questions cuz people here will be very willing to help you and assist you 24/7 without service charge wink.gif all the forms u need can be downloaded here, all informations can be ask and read. good.gif

QUOTE (Sha and Scott @ Jan 20 2008, 11:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Heheheh... djturbo is funny...:-)

Well, marie_9, if you love beaches, I'd say Bantayan Island is the best place to see. I had visited the island and really enjoyed coral watching. I've seen the most beautiful coral in the area... more beautiful than the one you'll find in Camiguin (had visited there too). There is also Malapascua island which is the "little Boracay" here in Cebu province. And if you don't want to travel long hours from the city proper (most beautiful beaches are 3-4 hours from Cebu City), you can stay in Plantation Bay (Mactan), very expensive though, but also a beautiful place to spend a vacation. There are many resorts in Mactan island but their shoreline is not that beautiful, and very expensive.

As to places to visit in the city, there is Magellan's cross, Basilica de Sto. Nino, and the Taoist Temple. wink.gif Don't know much of the rest coz I really prefer island hopping. smile.gif

wow, thanks for that wonderful info.. no plan yet of visiting soon cuz we're on the last part of our visa process but at least i have ideas now. It's really my dream to see Cebu someday.

hi marie, dont be. just check your visa interview appointment from this link: http://203.177.135.1...tment/login.asp print the results and show it to SLMEC. i'm betting it will be somewhat similar with mine--medical-12:00am; interview-6:30am of the same date. but don't fret you can always go for an early medical.

i noticed from you sig that your interview will be on Feb 14, 2008, you might want to go in for your medical this week or the week after, for your own peace of mind. Goodluck!

lani

can't even check on that site cuz it says "Case Number Not Found on Appointment List".. I know i can go for an early medical but my question is what APPOINTMENT LETTER can i show the guard since our packet 4 doesn't include one.. no medical exam date either.

When my wife called the medical center and explained what had happened, they told her not to worry, just come in anytime prior to 1 week before interview and to bring the appointment letter. So, if this happens to you, no need to panic.

Same as mine but I just ignored it..I don't even bother to call them..lol

PhilippinesAt my Interview
QUOTE (aynaku05 @ Jan 25 2008, 03:52 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi Everyone,

I had my interview last Jan. 4, 2008. My fiancé is with me the time I was interviewed. The Consul ask me where i meet my fiancé which I answered, how did we meet and I answer too. If both of us is single which we said yes. His follow-up question is if i had kids which i said yes as it is included at my appointment for the interview. I made it clear that they will not accompany me nor will follow me. My question is did this affect in releasing of my visa. As every thing seems to be okey. After the interview the Consul told me to proceed to window 37. There a staff gave me a paper that said document verification. I don’t have the idea what documents to be verified. He said it will take 2 to 3 weeks to release it. I paid Php 650 for the verification. And Php 165 for the Delbros delivery but until now i have not been notified by the NVC. It is hard on my part contacting the visa call center as my landline is bayantel. I am not a PLDT subscriber. I tried to buy a smart prepaid sim but it did not go thru. I ask our GM at the office if I could use our phone (as we are not allowed to place a personal call) so I could contact them. A visa call center agent said according to their system it will take 6 weeks. If there I couldn’t hear from the USEM I should contact them so they could help me. How long will it take for me to wait for a notice at USEM.

I had this idea that maybe it is my kids surname that affects the releasing of the visa.. My kids surname is different from mine as they uses their father's name although we are not legally married. In their birth certificate their father put the date and place of marriage even though no ceremonies happen. He did this for the kids to use his surname as before the civil code don’t allow to use the father’s name if the parents are not legally married. I bring the original birth certificates of the 2 kids with me should they want a proof, though the Consul did not ask for it and I am willing to explain why did this happen. I gave my CENOMAR that I get from the NSO to prove i was never married.

Anyone had similar problem with mine. What steps did you do. My fiancé was here last Jan. 1 so he could go with my interview. He is about to leave at the 18th and he get me a reservation ticket which we had it open should my visa arrived. We even work on his extention visa waiting for the approval so we could fly back to the US together. But until he leave now notification has not arrive yet. His lawyer in the US was able to talk to one Consul here in Manila but he said the Philippine document that I submitted is still verified. My fiancé already seek the help of their congressman and we are waiting for the reply yet. I feel depressed. I don’t know what to do to prove that I never married. I tried to get true and legal copies of my documents to prove that all the intentions are true. I just pray that there is still hope for me to be with my soon to be husband in the US. crying.gif crying.gif innocent.gif helpsmilie.gif

aynaku05

If your kids will not come with you nor follow you in the near future, I don't think it will be the cause of the delay of your visa. The way i see it, maybe it's because of the documents verification. Like they always say/advise here in visajourney, we must pay the documents verification ahead of time (like 3-4 weeks before the interview date). Maybe you were not informed, or you never read a topic like that here in the forum but there's been a lot of discussions about that already. In my case, My interview will on Feb. 14 and I already paid the PHP650 verification fee at metrobank this afternoon, it's so easy though cuz i got the instruction here in vj also. Don't worry, just hope for good things to come and keep praying.. Hope your visa will be release soon. Goodluck!! smile.gif

hey can anyone tell how to download a copy of the appointment letter?

She will take her medical early. Someone said you can download a copy of the letter for this if you have not received your packet. Most of the 3/10 interviews seem to have received their packets now , but she has not.

Please let us know if you know how to do this if you have found the link of if it is really possibel to do this. If not does she call St Lukes and they will take care of it?

We cannot find a place on the consular section to do this.
Only the section for the forms to fill in online.

thanks Guys

Hi.. here's the link.. all you need to do is to supply your case number and your appointment will appear if your case is already in US Embassy Manila.

Thanks a lot sis! Well, normally, it takes 2 days. first day - xray, laboratory - urine and blood, vital stats, physical exam and immunization interview. second day - immunization and releasing.

HAPPY NEW YEAR po!

you can add me on your ym list. just check my ym id in my profile.

Thanks po ulet! God bless...

HI THERE! THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR EXPERIENCE AT THE MEDICAL, i will have my medical on March 6.. i just want to know if its ok ba that my appointment letter is only PRINTED on the internet? I dont have my packet 4 yet but i had checked my case already and saw my appointment. ANd is it ok to go to the medical earlier than the appointment date???

Hope you can help me for this.... And I know GOd is so good all the time... thats why GOD uses YOU for you to shared the good things he had done to both of you..GOD BLESS!

YES, as for other people's experiences and suggestions, it's better to have atleast 2 weeks to a month of medical exam before your date of interview.. good for you that your medical is yet on March and you can already check your appointment online good.gif they will honor that.. its ok. Goodluck to us all! smile.gif

marie_9,

alright then. call the embassy and ask them if they can deliver your packet to you coz you are the applicant, not your fiance. you may also print the schedule on-line and present it to SLEC and even to the embassy for your interview if you won't be able to receive your packet or appointment letter from them.

and please lang... PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY THE K1 GUIDE posted by Sheriff Uling to avoid these confusions...

actually, i was surprised that there's an argument going on on this post.

PEACE! SPREAD LOVE!!!

thanks beng, actually its clear to me now. can't believe people are making issues of answering in this forums..

there's only one appointment letter attached in the packet 4 & such appointment letter includes the medical & interview schedule..

this info is clearly stated in sheriff uling's MANILA K1 VISA GUIDE (pinned thread)..there's even a sample of packet 4 in such thread...

honestly, that was only my guide during the entire K1 Visa Application..for new applicants, take time & patiently review sheriff's guide..its a great help..PROVEN! good.gif

ok thanks.. but sad to say, my hubby's packet 4 only includes interview schedule, no medical. it will work anyways i hope. salamat

ok, ok, well enough of those exchanging offensive words, the lesson here is that we must learn how to reply without offending other people.. and stay inline with the question being asked.. I felt there are people here who always want to argue and that's not good.. we're here for information and nothing else. My main concern for refreshing this topic is to know if there's really a separate appointment letter for the medical and for the interview but so much arguing have been going on and yet my question is not answered CLEARLY, thanks for spending time anyway! unsure.gif

Hi beng and carl.. pls make it clear to me what kind of APPOINTMENT LETTER is that, u said its from the USE? is that really an appointment letter for the medical exam? Am asking this because my husband (in US) received the Packet 4 but no medical date and no appointment letter like that for the medical. Am just really confused cuz i always in medical experience posts that the guard will ask for that appointment letter. wacko.gif

Hello Marie_9...that appointment letter is included in ur packet which states the time and date of your medical and interview. You have to present it at the guard when u're ready to have ur medical so make sure to photocopy it.

I didn't get my packet yet but my husband got his already, is our package not the same? cuz he got his but no medical date and no appointment letter. I read in some post that husbands who receives packet first send a copy to their wife in the Phil. since mails here in the Phil is always delayed..
