K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	America/Australia March Posting	You can get your SSN as a K1....BUT in regards drivers licenses...check with state requirements. I had to wait to get my drivers license until I had my GC here in Ohio. Bank account it depends on the bank & if they will allow you to be added as per their system. We waited until we were married to have my added to bank accounts & credit cards. Yes the PCC (police clearance certificate) we have to have from my understanding but I have read even in the reviews that people are finger printed at the consulate. You can just get a PCC for $50 or fill in the form for the PCC and fingerprints which is $154.00 .... THe PCC you need to have is the more expensive one -- it is a total police clearance on your name AND fingerprints. Not sure if i can leave them that way or need to "staple" them . I will at least leave the originals/copies in the folder and take with me just in case. Cheers and thank you Ok in regards to seeing if you had been touched -- go to the USCIS website & sign up for updates..when you log in you can see the date your case was last touched. I presented all my stuff in a ring binder folder....not the big lever arch one though. I had everything in those plastic sleeves so it was protected...when I sent the original documentation in with packet 3 (birth certificates,divorce decrees,police check etc) that way they were not mixed with stuff they needed to keep in the file. I know Vermont is taking longer to process K1 NOA2 than California but I am seeing were some couples are receiving their NOA2 and they submitted their application to Vermont after us. I have been checking if our application has been touched and it was only once on the 17th Jan 2010. We received our NOA1 on the 13th Jan 2010. Hope someone could put my mind to rest. Kathy Kathy I understand & know how frustrating it is to see others receiving the NOA2's before you get yours especially when or if they filed after you. We waited for what seemed an eternity but eventually it did show up. I had noticed Vermont was processing slower the California and I do not understand the rhyme or reason or behind it. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	America/Australia March Posting	Hey all -- I arrived in Ohio on Saturday 10th April....I am still pinching myself that I am actually here with my man. It made me giggle to wake up yesterday morning to him uttering 'You are real..this isn't a dream' We are settling into a routine and getting everyone settled into the house and a wonderful life together. We have been exploring a little, taken heaps of photos and basically just enjoyed being together as a family. Nothing could be better then this. We now settle into preparing for our wedding in June. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	December 2009 Filers - CSC!	Hey everyone, It has been a long time since I have logged in. I am glad to read everyone is loving life in their new homes. Life here has been hectic as always. After my medical issues were resolved life returned to the usual rushed pace that it has had since I started working. The only difference was instead of working part time my work had me working 40+ hours every week and with Eric on 3rd shift and Bek in school I was not seeing my family a great deal. The kicker came when Bek told me she felt abandoned because I was working 6 days a week and Dad was sleeping through the day because he worked nights. I went into work that Monday and told my boss I want back to part time hours from 8-1 and every other weekend off. He was fabulous about it and finally got the district manager to approve hiring of support staff. I am now loving my hours and enjoying life with my family once again. This winter has been beyond brutal. I am permanently numb with how cold it gets lol. I know most people on this thread are used to the cold from their home countries but this Aussie girl is not used to it in the slightest. I had never seen snow until I got here let alone had to drive in it or plow a driveway. Though it was fun to build my first snowman,have a snowball fight & wrestle in the snowbanks. I am just looking forward to spring! Hope everyone else is doing as well...It is almost my 1 year anniversary of arriving in Ohio to be with my husband and I truly can not wait. Caspar I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving...we enjoyed our very first Thanksgiving & we were surrounded by family and an abundance of food. Today saw my daughter and I experience our first ever snow! It is absolutely beautiful to wake to see the yard covered in a dusting of snow...though in a couple of months I will be aching to see green peaking through LOL! An update on us....I am now working...I love my job & the people I work with. I am feeling semi normal now. Life is still very busy and I dont think I would want it any other way. I still have to pinch myself some days to remember the journey we have been on over the last couple of years to get where we are today..seems kind of surreal. I want to wish you all a wonderful festive season with your loved ones. May your blessings be all you can handle and your lives always be filled with love, laughter & happiness. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	December 2009 Filers - CSC!	Thanks all. I received my 'Welcome' letter today in the mail. Interview was fairly easy. Here is the link for the review I put up: http://www.visajourn....php?entry=6649 It was a stressful process that I would not ever ask anyone to do UNLESS they are truly in love with the person involved. We all know how stressful and anxiety riddled the process is and it is not for those with doubts or who are feint of heart. There needs to be changes made to the process that much is for certain but that is somethign for someone in a little cubicle somewhere to deal with when the time comes...for now...I am going to continue living & loving my life with my husband and share that life with our family & friends who support us. I will not say I have had a charmed time of it all. My family back in Australia have given me untold amounts of grief, guilt trips and stress. I was told 'that I should not be enthusiastic about my new life in the USA' by my parents & my children in AUS because it makes them feel 'upset that I am not missing them' All this was played out on my facebook wall over the last few months. I have since been ignored by my parents, my children & I talked it through...and thankfully they understand that I am happy & admitted that they were jealous not to be here with me even though they chose to stay there because of jobs & schooling. I have spent so many days crying because of it & have once again suffered migraines to the point of not being able to get out of bed...and here I can not get the over the counter medications I am used to using to deal with these migraines. All I can say is thank heavens for each & every one of you for being there as a support...I may not have said much but knowing you were all there going through this right along side me gave me untold strength to fight another day. Hey all, Caspar I am glad you had a great honeymoon Well today is our AOS interview up in Cleveland, we have a folder larger then the K1 full of evidence, photos & assorted paperwork. Life has been plodding along here...I have been actively looking for work but not having a work history here in the USA makes filling out applications a joy (NOT!) We have also been preparing for Winter...wood pellets are stacked in the basement ready for the stove to be on..the yard is all winter ready for the most part. The USA allows you to use your license from Canada so you can still drive on it while living here. I drive on my Australian license daily..but then again it could also depend on your car insurance carrier & their policy too. Got married at 9:30 am went for a nice lunch at 11:00 Drank till 3:00 pm to 1 am. LOL Best wedding ever! Some bad news though. I have spoken to many people and they will not allow me to get a SSN until I have completed the AOS. I mean it is not a big deal I just really wanted to get my drivers license. Anywho we are just enjoying married life and just hanging out together. Things couldn't be better Good luck on the interview I doubt you guys will need it though! Meggy you CAN get your SSN without doing AOS. I got mine within 10 days of being in the USA. You CAN NOT get your OH drivers licence UNTIL you have the NOA2 for AOS. I sat the tests and everything...I rang state head office in Columbus to argue the point only to be told that until I have that I can not be given my license. Frustrating process all round. Stephanie-- I sat here & read your update & cried. Eric asked me what was wrong & I read it to him & he jut sat in his chair speechless. I really wish there was soemthing, anything we could do for you. Know that we would love for you to stick around as you are one of the group regardless of the outcome. Emma I am glad you have found somewhere for you to teach Gymnastics. I have not even started looking yet. i should have looked earlier...maybe we could have co-ordinated & met down in Cinncinati when you were there. We have been slowly but surely painting the house...changing colours etc. We painted our master bedroom this past weekend. We used a Granite Textured Paint...never again!!!! Oh well - Indy is the back of beyond for anything international in the food line (although we did find a British section (2 shelves) at Mejier). I will just have to pine like I do now and get my Mum to bring me things. Are you going somewhere for a honeymoon, Terri? This is great. We can talk about stuff other than waiting for visas now. Especially next week when Meggy and Caspar will have theirs. And then we can all talk about the joys of AOS No honeymoon for us...kinda hard with my 13 year old daughter for us to get away alone...but we are planning a bit of time away as a family in July which will be lovely. There are various online site where you can get foods...I just placed an order tonight for some Aussie foods from a company based in Cinncinati in Ohio....cant wait for it to get here now LOL! We are filling out forms for AOS so we can send it off by Monday at the latest. I can not wait for the madness to be over so we get some time off from dealing with all the USCIS crapola! Edit to add: Caspar, the NZ version are called Chit-chats but they're not as good as Tim Tams I wish I knew why ..Pepperidge Farms here (the company who sell them in the USA) market them as a festive cookie. Of course they are festive -- they are Tim Tams!! I know they have the plain ones, the caramel & the dark ones...not sure on the double coat. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	December 2009 Filers - CSC!	WOOHOO Emma -- CONGRATS on visa in hand!! Sorry for being so MIA everyone -- we are now wading through AOS paperwork. Also trying to settle again now that my daughter is out of school for the summer...what to do with a 13year old girl for 3 months!! We have taken up Geo Caching as a family -- and we all love it. We tend to head out at least 3 days each week...wonderful way to get to see other part of the countryside that you normally wouldnt stop to see. For work -- not sure if I will return to work here in the USA for some time yet. Eric works third shift, so that makes it difficult if I went to work on day shift...means we would not see each other a great deal at all...but we have been looking into me continuing studying for my photography & eventually opening our own studio (long term goal!) Financially we dont need me to work at all but for my own sanity (what little I have left LOL) I would like too. For foods from AUS for Eric we brought over Tim Tams, Cherry Ripes, Pascall Marshmallows, Allen's lollies, Iced Vovo's and some other stuff...its almost all gone now after 2 months. We have found some stores both online & bricks and mortar stores that have some aussie foods...so that keeps everyone happy lol. The whole Fahrenheit thing drives my daughter nuts....so I told her if it is around 72F -- it means 20C..it helps her cope I think Being from Australia the heat doesn't bother so much here, winter will be a struggle LOL Our play list will be a mix of songs that are special to us as well as others mixed in for general entertainment. The song I will walk down the 'aisle' as such is George Strait's I Cross My Heart. Emma I look forward to your update...I am sitting here on eggshells watching my email hoping its something from you in reply to this thread LOL! After reading over the last few pages I am so happy that everyone is in the final stages of the K1 process....soon everyone will have an amazing summer with their loved ones here in the USA. We only have a few days left to our wedding -- everything is pretty much done. No big flash event, though I am wearing a black gown for the day. We will marry in a very simple ceremony on our new back deck with our closest family & friends in attendance followed by a cook out here at home...once the ceremony is done & the photos are taken, changing into jeans & shirt LOL. I must admit I am nervous as all heck especially considering the weather radar keeps saying rain on the day *pout* Will peak in again in a few hours for any more news. I kinda thought it would be just the same as at the k1 interview except asking questions about how life is now with your new husband. It is just gorgeous in Ohio I miss it every day! Oh right on that is a plus. I am nervous about getting to Boardman and being alone when Angelo goes to work. I mean the grocery store is literally a 3 minute walk from the apartment but everything else I haven't really explored. I know they don't have sidewalks in Boardman. ####### is up with that!? K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	December 2009 Filers - CSC!	WOW I am so glad to see Meggy & Emma with interview dates (finally!!) I am sending warm happy wishes to you both for the days. Caspar I am so sorry for all you have gone through -- I have sat here reading & I am totally gob smacked!! Bureaucracy at it's finest! Fingers, toes & anything else I can cross is crossed for a June interview date for you both & then a reunion here in the USA soon after I apologize for not being around a great deal -- I have been busy with settling in here and getting all our last minute wedding plans done -- we marry in 16 days and I can not wait. I have been thinking over the last week that we should have gone to the courthouse for a quick ceremony & kept our big day as a celebration with everyone else. Only reason I say that is because with me still being a K1 visa holder trying to do anything such as getting my license, opening bank accounts etc has been more red tape then I wanted to deal with on a state level. So now I wait for us to marry so I can actually receive my license and open bank accounts etc..I detest being totally dependent on Eric for everything -- especially money! I am allowed to drive but knowing I have passed the tests for my license and can not get the actual thing is maddening. Anyway enough of my whinging. Hey, I bet it beats me down to Ecuador and about the time I get there it will be showing up in their computer system just waiting for us to send in the paperwork! The question is....will Guayaquil, Ecuador be ready to interview him BEFORE I am set to leave the country July 6th??? To be determined. Oh, happy dayyyyyyyy Interestingly enough, no touch except for middle of last month....then no touch today...just a text at 9:30pm Central Standard Time.
