We are July 10th transfers with our NOA2 on July 19th.

I called DOS Monday - Thursday, spoke to the same guy every day, Michael. Nice guy, he told me it still hasnt left texas yet and chuckled every day when I said thank you and ill try again tomorrow.

I missed my chance to call DOS today so figured I'd give NVC a try since they're open later. Mistake. It took 30 mins to get someone on the phone, then the lady couldn't stop popping her gum in my ear and was not very friendly. She kept asking me questions she should know, such as what I filed and when my approval was. She then gave me the spiel about it taking 8 weeks. When I challenged her to the "validity" dates on the NOA2 she got in a huff and just said it would be 8 weeks. I politely said thanks and hung up.

I won't be calling NVC again.

CanadaBooking Vancouver medical & interview
Thanks for the advice. Looks like he'll be making two trips to Vancouver, one for medical and one for the interview when I'm there or he'll be in Vancouver a few days before me.

And one more question, once we get the number from NVC, we can email the embassy and they'll email packet 3? Or do we wait until they receive the physical file?

CanadaBooking Vancouver medical & interview
Long story short, we got lucky in our k-1 journey and are doing things a few months earlier than I expected. We received notice of NOA2 on Friday. I know it will take time to reach NVC & the embassy, but we are wondering if anyone can give us some advice/insight on how long it takes to get an interview at Vancouver once they receive packet 3? I, the petitioner, really want to be there for a lot of reasons, but mainly, this is the big shebang we've been waiting for. The only thing is, I'm not out of my 90 day probationary period at work until the second week of September, and trying to find a cheepish flight.

Also, is it possible to do medical one day and interview the next? I keep seeing conflicting info on this. Or is it possible for him to do the medical a few weeks in advance and have them mail the results to him? He lives on Vancouver Island, and that would be feasible.

Thanks for any and all help. We weren't really expecting to hear anything for another month or two, so I'm a bit behind in my research, though we do have everything except for record of his immunizations. Hopefully we'll have that this week.

Canadavancouver consulate

I emailed per your suggestion and they said that she has to go through Montreal unless she has a valid work visa that has at least a year remaining, which it does, i am confused now.  CEAC even says case ready and to schedule with Montreal.  This is crazy, i dont know if I should keep inquiring about Vancouver or just move forward with Montreal.  I should be happy that it is finally case ready but the trip to vancouver was going to cost 1/3 the price of going to Montreal.  ughhhh  Plus I was going to drive up from Las Vegas to be prepared to bring her home with me after approved.  There goes that plan

What is your case number - VAC or MTL? We are Vancouver, but the CEAC said ready to book interview at Montreal. I just think that's yet another govt quirk with wrong info. As a matter of fact, our status still says that and we've got the interview & medical booked.

I would go out on a limb and say if you have a VAC number, you're definitely going through Vancouver. Unless Vancouver doesn't realize she has the valid work authorization, I'm not sure. Maybe it's because you, the petitioner, emailed instead of her, the beneficiary? It could also be because of her country of origin, where is she from?

Sorry about the lack of actual help, but I do wish you guys the best of luck!

Have the benificary send an email to Vancouver. I had B do that as soon as I saw our case update on CEAC. They replied back saying they hadn't received it yet but once they did, they would email packet 3. A few days later he got the packet 3 email and I received a letter in the mail from NVC stating they forwarded the petition to Vancouver.

CanadaImporting vehicle to Florida
Thanks for the info and how you guys were able to do it. I knew about the letter. We will be getting that in about a month or so. He's about to make his last car payment, so that should clear things up with the title/lein since he won't be crossing till Jan.

I'm just a little concerned since it will be about 3-4 months after his crossing that we will be able to get his license, get a US title, register the car and insure it. Granted its a common thing to see Canadian plates here, but they're not typically BC plates lol.

I'll also be talking to my insurance company in the next few weeks to renew my policy, so I'll ask about when and how to add him then.

And thanks again. I'm just trying to make sure we have all our bases covered for when he does get here, and know what steps to take :)

CanadaImporting vehicle to Florida
I realize I'm getting a little ahead of myself by asking now, but I want us to be prepared for when it comes time for all of this.

B is going to cross the border in January, and import his 05 Chevy Malibu. 2 weeks later he'll be able to get the SS car/number. Since Florida went wacky, he won't be able to get a Fl drivers license until after we apply for AOS & get his EAD card. Then we have to get a Fl auto insurance policy then register his vehicle with Fl. But how do we do that and what will we need? I'm not able to find much info about importing vehicles on the Florida site, everything seems to be geared toward moving from out of state, not out of country. And of course, everything is warning you only have 10 days to register once you set up residency.

I'm sure there have been a few I of you who've moved from Canada to Florida since all this went into effect in 2010, so I'm looking for a bit of sage advice. Also, another question... When do I have to list him on my auto policy? I was under the impression that I need to do it as soon as we get married, but he won't be eligible for a Fl drivers license for another 3 months... I'm at a loss.

It is to my knowledge the visa as good 6 months from the date of the medical, not the visa issuance itself. At the moment I can't recall specific threads that mention this though. As for redoing the medical, I'm not sure.

Good luck to all of you with upcoming interviews!

I have posted here twice and received no response. Third time is a charm I hope....
I received and returned a RFE. CSC received the RFE on September 30 and changed the case status to RFE under review. Case status is still the same as of today. Any advice? Should it take this ling to hear? Should I email the CSC?

If I were in your place, I would. I'd also call and speak with a tier 2. I wasn't at CSC and didn't get an RFE, but from other threads I've seen it is typically processed within a week or so. Good luck!

Do we have many still wating for NOA2? or interviews?  we need an update.

Our interview is set for Nov 25th, given he can do the medical on the 21st. We'll know tomorrow if we are going to have to reschedule. That was the first available date, and unfortunately it's a date that I'm not able to make due to work. We are hoping to have him make the move around Jan 2nd and looking to do the wedding in Vegas the week after Valentines day.

When are you planning on crossing? And how are things going with the wedding planning?

So we still haven't received packet 4. I had B email Vancouver to ask if they received the fax se sent over a week ago. Today they replied they did receive the form, but are waiting on him to fax the checklist. *facepalm* Apparently he only faxed the form. Silly silly mistake...

Also, congrats on all the recent NOA2 approvals! Though it does look like its taking just over a month for them to get sent to NVC. But we are all nearing the finish line so yay!

WE ARE APPROVED!!! In fact, I don't know if the guy was purposely flashing it at me, but the papers were stamped approved before he even interviewed me. I will post my review right away here but.. Damn, what a morning. I left Surrey at 830 and didn't get to the consulate till 11. An hour after my appointment time. Thanks to an accident on the Fraser bridge that took over an hour to get past, then an additional half hour to get to the consulate from there, but they were really good, said that they were waiting for me upstairs, they waved me through, went through security and it was less than an hour in and out. I was so stressed about being late that I almost cried when the guard said go through. then the woman at counter B asked why I was so late and as soon as I mentioned accident and Fraser bridge she held up her hand and said ,"Say no more". Everyone was so friendly, questions were easy. They never even asked for any further evidence!

Good luck to everyone still to go.

Yay! I'm so happy for you guys.

Okay, so lets see if I got everything I need:

  • I-134 signed.
  • Copy of my 2012 W2 from my employer
  • Printed the PDF version of my 2012 Tax Return
  • Letter from my employer stating salary and start date (also on paystubs)
  • Last 2 paystubs (I can scan and send him copies to print up to the date of his interview)
  • Certified original of my Birth Certificate.
  • Certified copy of of my Divorce Decree.
  • (2) copies of the DS-156 filled out & unsigned.
  • (1) copy of the DS-157 filled out & unsigned.
  • (1) copy of the DS-156K filled out & unsigned.
  • (1) copy of the DS-260 filled out & unsigned.
  • (2) of his passport pictures printed out on glossy photo paper (I have the digital copies of his)
  • (1) copy of our entire I-129F with all new (and original) signatures on everything.
  • Call logs printed right from my cell phone. It shows several calls at the beginning, middle & end of every month since I returned from my visit in Argentina
  • Screen shots of our skype conversations.
  • Text log printed from my cell phone, there's not a lot there but it's something.
  • Proof of engagement: Does a screen shot of my FB announcement count? He doesn't have a receipt for my ring, I could take a picture of it on me?
Am I missing anything? I don't have any new pictures of us together, I was there in January, applied in April and it's only September. (so not complaining)
It looks like youve got pretty much everything covered. However, to be on the safe side, I'd order your tax transcript from the IRS. That shows everything on your 1040, but also shows that you actually filed it. I'm assuming the PDF version you are referring to is from either your tax preparer or turbo tax.

Edited to say: don't forget the updated letter of intent to marry...signed and dated around interview time.

I called and got my NVC number tonight... so excited!!! They said that our petition was sent to Frankfurt on Friday... I had been prepared for a longer wait, and now this is caught me off guard! I've been trying to research our next step... do we now wait for the consulate to contact us? After we receive our NVC number are we finished dealing with the NVC?

Thanks for the help - this thread has been a god send during this process. :)

I think it really depends on the embassy. With us, we are going through Vancouver, and they take emails about k-1s but no phone calls, so we've emailed them and received packet 3 through email instead of waiting for it in the mail. But you should defiantly get started on collecting the items you'll need: police certificate(s), birth certificate, divorce decrees, I-134 & financial docs, etc.

As for NVC I do believe its the last time for the actual k-1, but not forever, AOS and all in the future...

Ok. I did that 2 weeks ago. I spoke to a Tier2 and she put in a service request for the NOA2 to be sent to me but today is 2 weeks after and I called and asked to speak to a Tier 2 given the answer they gave me.
The thing is that the Tier2 of today's phone call did not seem to know any more than a regular representative. She could not tell me what happened to the last service request. INSTEAD SHE SENT ME TO FILL OUT THE I824!  cray5ol.gif

Are you able to make an infopass appointment? I would probably go that route since calling is getting you nowhere. There, you'll be able to speak face to face with someone and hopefully get to the bottom of your NOA2 mystery. You should not have to pay that fee if you never received the original notice.

Yay! I'm so happy you get to keep your interview. We'll be sending in packet 3 on Thursday when he has time to hunt down a fax machine. Lol. Just wondering if anyone elses NOA2 said they've been sent to the US Embassy and to contact the consulate about further questions regarding our case... nothing about NVC or DOS...

That's the typical form letter NOA2 letter. I assume that back in the day, they were forwarded straight to the embassy, but they all go through NVC first now. I think, as with all things government, they never bothered to update the form letters.

And just an FYI, when you get your case number and start checking that website for updates, don't be alarmed at the status that says NVC sent/scheduled your interview. It's yet another form letter response that does not hold true for k1s.

I am not worried about them canceling it. If they do they do. I could send them packet 3 but they haven't received by file as it was only marked in Transit today. SO we will see. If they let me have the interview date then yay for me, otherwise I will rebook it soon enough. I was more wanting to get the visa fee paid. I may call them to see if they had received it tomorrow. Does anyone know if there is a way to see if it has reached the consulate?

The only way I know of is by checking the website with your case number. I had B email Vancouver on Thursday. He got a reply yesterday that they haven't received our case yet, but they'd email him packet 3 when they did. I just checked our status and its changed fron "in transit" to "ready". But it also says to schedule an interview in Montreal...but we have a VAC case number....wondering if they screwed the pooch again by sending us to Montreal or if its just an error on the website.

By the way, when you booked your interview, what did the dates look like?

D + BFemaleCanada2013-08-27 17:57:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApril Filers 2013 K1
We've been in transit since this Tuesday, August 20th. I'm not sure how long it'll take to ship, but since we received our NOA2, we've both moved. I just had him go ahead and email the embassy just in case they receive it soon.

As for the medical, he hasn't had it yet. He was unable to track down records of his vaccinations, so he's just getting the required shots again. For one, I think it's the MMR, there's 2 doses, and he'll have his second one October 1. So we will have to schedule everything for after that.

We've been "in transit" to Vancouver since Tuesday. I had B go ahead and send an email to the embassy last night requesting packet 3. Due to the fact that he needs one more shot for the medical and me wanting to be there, we are looking to schedule the interview sometime in early October.

So in the off chance that something would have changed, I called NVC tonight. They've received our file. According to the guy, "it's in a big metal shipping container out on the loading dock". I'm not quite sure how I feel about that, or how accurate that is, but at least it's somewhere, right? Maybe tomorrow we'll have a case number...

My status was just updated saying my approved case was shipped to the Department of State. I received the email for my NOA2 on July 25, so it also took 3 weeks just to ship.

Just called NVC and they said it takes up to 8 weeks, what DOS number are you calling? Why is it better than calling NVC, less wait time?

Have you received your case number or more updates to your status?

I'm calling the DOS at 202-663-1225. Press 1 then 0.

Our status changed to being shipped last week. I've called everyday, and just got off the phone with them, still hasn't been "received" by NVC yet. I'm starting to get a bit worried because most have a case number a few days after the shipped notification. But then again it could be stuck in the mail room.

Nope, every time I call I say I'm calling to check on the status of my petition, they ask for the receipt number and tell me when it was approved and hasn't been routed to NVC yet. I say thanks and that I'll call again in a day or so.

Now usually I've gotten the same guy, Michael. But yesterday I got someone different and they gave me the up to 8 week spiel.

But defiantly better than calling NVC.

Hannah, I'm so happy for you! And not to burst your noa2 approval bliss, but the wait for the case to get shipped from TSC to NVC seems to be excruciating slow and painful.

It's been 18 days and still no sign for us. And word of advice for anyone who's wanting to call, don't call NVC, call DOS instead. It's a shorter workday, I think the hours are 8-5 eastern time, but I've yet to wait on hold, and they're much nicer. I call every two days or so at about 1pm and usually speak to Michael, super nice guy.

Also, has anyone who's been transferred, gotten shipped yet, and/or a case number?

This odd, we were approved on Sunday 28th. The beneficiary moved house on the 29th, so we called USCIS to see if we could catch it before it left. They said had already gone to NVC. There was nothing they could do.

It could just be the USCIS showing their usual level of competence.

Are you sure you were approved on Sunday? Just wondering because I didn't think the government worked weekends. Lol

But yeah, I'm sure we are still at TSC. I called again today, and nothing's changed.

I've been following a thread in the NVC section and there are some late June and early July approvals still stuck there too so if yours was sent off that fast, you're extremely lucky :)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you guys though. :)

Just remember though, the waiting doesn't end at the noa2, and from what I'm reading, Texas is a bit slow sending to NVC. Personally, this waiting period is the one driving me crazy.

Also, check your status online after 9pm eastern time. Both of the Texas updates & NOA2 weren't showing at about 8pm, but were there after 9pm.

if our file is indeed on someones desk, don't you think we'd get a notification on email/text that someone has touched our file? I'm kinda freakin out our file wasn't transferred

I think the reason transfers got 3 separate status updates is something along these lines:
Update 1 - electronic file sent
Update 2 - physical file scanned to be sent from Vermont
Update 3 - physical file scanned once received at Texas

This is just me guesstimating based on how the company I work for transfers files. I could be completely off base.
