K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsGreen form 221g refusal

They gave my husband the same green sheet. Do they instruct him/her send the passport and paper back with the documents needed? If not, what they will do is putting him/she in Administrative process. When they are ready ,then they will call you(beneficiary) to send passport and green sheet. You will be approved

yes he was told, and the paperwork states, to send the green form and his passport with the newest documents and visa will be issued 1-2 weeks later. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsGreen form 221g refusal
I sent so much proof of our relationship i guess i figured they had enough, not totally thinking that some wasn't the most recent. minor set back i guess. she loved that we had our wedding invitation included. so now our last year of phone, text and Skype records are on the way and he was told to send his passport with the paperwork so i take that as a good sign.
she asked him how we met, if he's ever been to the US, where am i from, how many times i visited turkey, how often do we use skype and sms and lastly she asked him how soon he wished to go to the US, and he said as soon as possible :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsGreen form 221g refusal
my fiance had his interview today in Ankara Turkey and they gave him his passport back and a green 221g refusal form stating they needed more recent phone and skype records. I printed everything today (over 200 pages) and sent UPS to my fiance in Bodrum Turkey. it cost me $100.00. he will get the documents on monday and send to embassy same day (they gave him a special UPS envelope with a code on the front). the green letter says after the documents are received (he has to send his passport also) they will issue the visa between 3 days and 2 weeks.
** anyone else go thru this and have a good positive result? **

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsBlue slip section 221g .. from Juarez
my fiance got a green slip 221g during his interview in Turkey asking for more evidence. and they gave him his passport back. the green paper asked for more phone and skype records and for him to send the documents and his passport to the embassy and the visa would be approved in 2 weeks. we did as they said, i sent them an additional 225 pages of communication (probably overkill) but almost 2 weeks to the day later his passport was sent to him with the visa stamp, he was approved and now he is here with me in Pennsylvania, USA and we are married one month and everything worked out fine.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsGot I-797 "notice of action" in mail (we're approved) what is this

I-797C is your NOA1

I-797 is your NOA2

they then forward your case from USCIS office to the NVC (national visa center)

you will get a case number (usually first 3 letters of case number are where the consulate is)  example, my husbands was Ankara, Turkey so his case number was ANK##########

i got a letter when NVC received my case, thus assigning the case number, then i called to verify the date that NVC sent it to the consulate

after that steps 3 & 4 leading up to the interview (packages) were actually just emails with instructions and links to websites and paperwork, not sure if every consulate is like that

i got an email from consulate, filled out some forms, sent them to the hubs, he sent to consulate, they set his interview date, he did his medical, got his visa and now we are living happily ever after in the middle of his AOS (adjustment of status)

anything else i can help ya with just send me a note :)

CONGRATS !!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsk1 Application Rejection
the only thing I can think of by googling "classification sought message for I129f" leads me to another post on this site where at the bottom of the G325A form they ask for what you are applying, the choices are

THIS FORM IS SUBMITTED IN CONNECTION WITH AN APPLICATION FOR:
NATURALIZATION
STATUS AS PERMANENT RESIDENT
OTHER (PLEASE SPECIFY)

when we filed, we checked the OTHER box and put K1 visa as our reason
Kelli and OzzyFemaleTurkey2013-02-18 14:42:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsImmigrant classifications

I believe but I'm not positive.     at first you are a non immigrant until marriage.    from the point of marriage until the AOS you would be referred to as a resident alien.   after the GC is issued you are considered a permanent resident.    after citizenship you would be considered an American citizen.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThings to get done while claim is in processing
thank you for the link, very nice to be able to prepare ahead of time. just a little confused on some items, most seem like they need to come from him as the beneficiary. as the petitioner i think i only have to fill out the I-134 and photocopy my passport, does that seem correct? or do i have to have passport photos to send as well? just want to get it right the first time. thanks :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThings to get done while claim is in processing

Hello,

We are K-1 October 2011 filers and this is the beneficiary. We went thru Vermont.

After your case is approved by USCIS, it is forwarded to National Visa Center where you get a Case number. This takes around 15 days. After NVC reviews your case as well, they ship it to the US Embassy Ankara via DHL. When Ankara receives and reviews it, they will send you an email regarding documentation needed. This is called the packet 3 on VJ. And here's the link they will want you to visit in the email. http://photos.state....ions_042012.pdf

Once you gather the required documents, you send it to the US Embassy Ankara via UPS. (It has be to sent via UPS) Well at the mean time you can see the link and start gathering your tax forms such as W-2 and 1040. On the instructions, it is very clear what to do. I suggest you read it very carefully.

After the US Embassy Ankara receives the documents you sent (if your documents are all set), they will schedule you an appointment by an email. This is called the packet 4 on VJ. (Do not expect any real mail nor packet. Ankara communicates you by email.)

After you are scheduled it is time to go get the physical done. Unfortunately you can not go to any doctor for that. Only doctors authorized
by the Embassy can examine the beneficiary. They say it is best to go get this done 10 days before your interview. I did it one month before. Oh also I know you didn't ask anything about how much it had costed, but I will tell anyway :) It was 370 Turkish liras. Where I got examined, you can pay in liras or in dollars, they even accept credit cards. The beneficiary must take his/her passport to the medical interview with him/her.

You can see my timeline how long this whole process took. It is very long but to be patient is the best we can do. The closer you get to the end the more excited you get. Hope this was helpful. I wish you a pleasant day.

Does it have to go to Ankara, we were hoping to use embassy in Istanbul?

I am wondering about a couple of things to make this process as smooth as possible. my claim might be processed soon for my fiance. what is the next step? how long between claim being processed and the interview? what things all need to be done in the meantime? he needs to review passport. can you go to any doctor for the physical?

just need general advice, i'm in the US, he is in Turkey, thank you

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust starting on K1
I sent you an email outlining everything i did to file my I-129F, its a long hard road but totally worth it in the end, I've been waiting almost a year and he is finally going to get his interview date soon. :)

I've been to various forums and read a 1000 sites and even considered getting a lawyer but it seemed that when my fiance talked to one lawyer, they really won't do more than what we can so we just opted to do it ourselves. ^_^

We held our engagement party last august 2012 and now we would want to file for the K1. most of the evidence however is with him and also i am aware that there are forms that need my original signature. What are those forms and documents that need my signature? Can you please enumerate them?

these is the overview of what i know is to be sent and questions i have for them and i also got this from visa journey:
1. Payment for filing fee
2. Cover Letter (can you please give a copy of this and the table of contents?)
3. Form I - 129F ( the non US citizen fiance doesn't have to sign anything here right?)
4. Declaration of how you met in person for the last two years (can someone please show me an example if this?)
5. original statements indicating intent to marry (do i make two of this in one packet like a statement from him and one statement from me?)
6. proof of having met in 2 years (we talk a lot on YM and that's everyday for almost a year. I took snapshots of the log dates in my YM account and the paper is already 60+ pages. also we skype if not on YM but i only started saving logs last September 2012 and i just copy paste the date of call and duration. is there any specific way for skype logs? also during our engagement, my aunt in California sent us a card and check as a gift. can we add that for the proofs?)
7. G - 325A by US citizen
8. passport type photo of US citizen
9. G - 325A by non US citizen fiance
10. passport type photo of non US citizen fiance
11. Copy of birth certificate or naturalization paper or passport of US citizen

I only have this because we were both single ever since and no name changes nor criminal case.

if any comments or help or corrections please feel free to give them. i just am so scared to make a mistake and end up spending a lot because money is really hard to come by and also i would want to start right and be with my love. thank you in advance for any help.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTurning a Wedding Into an Unofficial Ceremony As a Backup Plan
check out my timeline, i filed on 2/6/11 and just got married yesterday to my Turkish husband in the states. He got his visa on thanksgiving and arrived here 11/27/11. i was trying to plan ahead too but got shot down every time and I wasn't even planning a big wedding.
Yesterday I got married with about 20 family members in a restaurant and since we ate there we didn't have to pay to rent the space. Everything was beautiful except my photographer cancelled via text 2 hours prior but since I'm a professional photographer I trained all my family on what to do in a pinch and it worked out fine.

Best of luck to you with all your plans, use your happy days :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSo confused about several things... please help

Rachel, I just sent you a huge email thru this website along with my contact info, we live about 15 minutes apart and I'm in the adjustment of status phase for my husband so I have a wealth of information I can share with you, my best advice, right now, breathe deep, pray, believe and read everything you can find here on VJ and the internet 3 to 4 times and when you think you understand it, read it again :)

p.s.   I did everything myself and never got an RFE (request for evidence), you don't need a lawyer if you pay super close attention to instructions and detail

Kelli and OzzyFemaleTurkey2013-06-25 23:15:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs it?

just keep in mind the price to file for adjustment of status is $1070.00 which includes application for green card, work permit, biometrics and ability to travel (advanced parole).   I filed 4/19/13, had biometrics done 5/24/13 and my hubby should be getting his work permit any day now (timeline here estimates today) :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat are the costs "after" entering on a K-1

The one thing I'll miss about Europe is medical bills are much lower than the states and we don't have to worry about insurance. I'm going to have a hard time adjusting to these kinds of things. But can I ask why he needed a second round of shots? I hope I won't have to do the same and so I'd like to get everything covered over here first because shots here cost no more than 20 bucks a shot.

there are a couple of vaccines that require more than one shot in a series (which i wasn't aware of prior).  he received the first shot in Turkey at the time of his medical exam and they gave him a vaccination record to bring here, then we had to find a civil surgeon and get the second shot in the series to be considered complete and able to apply for adjustment of status.

the shots she gave him here were for Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and Varicella

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat are the costs "after" entering on a K-1

I just went thru the AOS process for my husband, the fee is $1070.00 for green card application, work permit and advanced parole (ability to travel)    but............   before that we had to see a civil surgeon and get a second round of immunizations.   i already had added him to my insurance and they got billed as routine so my insurance covered them at 100% (she billed about $600.00 for 3 different shots)   but she charged me a $200.00 paperwork fee and put all details in a sealed envelope that i sent to USCIS with the AOS application.

we filed on 4/19/13, biometrics was done on 5/24/13 and we got work permit and advanced parole on 6/29/13

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures( K1 approved) petitoner is On SSDI and depressed, 2012 Earnings only $15K but 2013 $20k!

also, you stated once she comes to america, they would marry and she would work asap.   that won't be able to happen because after marriage you need $1,070.00 to file for her AOS (adjustment of status) which includes her application for the green card, ability to travel outside the US and the ability to work, until you have this approval she won't be able to work.

I don't mean to rain on any parade, just wanted to give as much facts as i'm aware of since i brought my husband last November, we married in December 2012, i filed for AOS in April or May of 2013 and he got his work papers and ability to travel around the beginning of July 2013.    still waiting for green card.

as always, good luck and if there is love, there is a way :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVaccinations & Medical Exam

my now husband came from Turkiye last year, he got shots at his medical exam in Turkiye but had to get a second round of a couple of those shots once here in the US.  We went to a civil surgeon, at this point we were already married and he was on my health insurance plan and it all got covered as "routine".   only thing we paid for was the paperwork for AOS by the civil surgeon, she charged us 200.00 cash which I'm sure was a made up too high price but we needed what we needed and had to get it done.   she then gave us all the paperwork in a sealed envelope just like the K1 visa info and we mailed that with our forms for AOS.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 visa questions/problems

on the form, the part that says "information about your alien fiance"   the section that starts with #15, it states, if your fiance is currently in the United States, complete the following, that is where they ask for the passport number but she is in mexico so you are safe to file, no number needed, but she will have to have a passport for the interview.    my hubs, then fiance, had an expired passport and he didn't renew it until about 2 weeks before his interview.

I say NO LAWYER, if you read the instructions thoroughly 3 times, and when you think you understand it all, read it again, you will be fine.   I did all my own paperwork from day one, never had an RFE and my husband (then fiance) had no troubles and is now here with me, married over a year, already did AOS and got his green card.  no worries ever, you can do this, we have faith in you and are here to help :)     Good Luck

Caribbeanquestion about co-sponser

ok, finally got a co-sponser, hubby confirmed today that his auntie is gonna do it for us :) so this is good :) now my question is... she has a son who is grown and in college in FL.. and i think a daughter.who is also grown.. in order to NOT get RFE or if you even do I'm not sure, does she still have to put down their info on the I-864 form or whatever one it is (I dont have it in front of me) I know you have to put down children living with you and that you claim on taxes, but how does it work then they are grown adults and they have own jobs etc?

Thanks in advance :)

only kids under 21 are counted in i 864.....

CaribbeanJAMAICA: Starting Shots BEFORE Medical

Not all these vaccines are age appropriate, so No not everyone will need ALL these vaccines. It will depend on Age, and the 18-64yr old catagory does not need this amount. Just an example; Haemophilus Influenza B vaccine is not given to anyone over the age of 5yrs (kids in the US have 4 before age 5 normally). Here is the actual post from Kingston Embassy RE:Immunizations #3

http://travel.state....L-0001-1002.pdf

Here is London's List of US Immunization Schedule (can't imagine it will vary much from country to country since it's all based on US Immigration laws) Read Page 7-8

http://photos.state....18a_medical.pdf

did you read my post. it included:- so if you do not have a record of these vaccines, you will be required to retake SOME. my wife had to take 4 vaccines and hepatitis b requires 2 shots 6 weeks apart
A doctor will tell you which ones. Also as an example, hepatitis B is mandatory in the us for kids and medical and hospital professionals and recommended for other at risk groups. if you are immigrating to the us it is mandatory

CaribbeanJAMAICA: Starting Shots BEFORE Medical

Your wife's interview has just been scheduled, right? How soon will she be doing her medical? Has she spoken to anyone at the facility to find out if they will accept the shots that she's gotten already?

congrats on your cc. my wife will get her second hepatitis shot on monday and have medical on wed 4/18. will keep you informed..
abgMaleJamaica2012-04-12 20:53:00
CaribbeanJAMAICA: Starting Shots BEFORE Medical

This is strange, I have never heard of an adult whon had to take that many shots. If you would look at the sho5ts that are required most of them are required as a child so an adult would only be taking those that are requirements for an adult. Also, never knew anyone who had to take a series of shots, unless your wife showed signs of TB that would be different.

ok doc read,
Background
Under the immigration laws of the United States, a foreign national who applies for an immigrant visa abroad, or who seeks to adjust status to a permanent resident while in the United States, is required to receive vaccinations to prevent the following diseases:
Mumps
Measles
Rubella
Polio
Tetanus and Diphtheria Toxoids
Pertussis
Haemophilus influenzae type B
Hepatitis B
Any other vaccine-preventable diseases recommended by the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices
so if you do not have a record of these vaccines, you will be required to retake some. my wife had to take 4 vaccines and hepatitis b requires 2 shots 6 weeks apart according to her doctor to prevent possible complications. and doc the treatment for tb is a 6 to 9 month regimen of pills.

CaribbeanJAMAICA: Starting Shots BEFORE Medical

Question to Jamaican filers who've gone through this before:

I'm approaching the end of my NVC processing. I figure that at BEST, I'll get an interview date for at LEAST one month away. Should I start getting my shots now, or should I wait on the medical? I have no vaccination records from school days, so I'll have to start all over again. I'm in my early 40s ( I'm told that age determines what shots/boosters are needed).

my wife had the same issue. lost her vaccine card and could not find records in buff bay, so she took them again. its about 4 or 5 shots. there is one that has a 6 week period between first and second shot. my wife will get the second in 2 weeks. you should start right now...

USCIS Service CentersCali Service Center SLOW!

Filing I-130 for brother or sister is at FEB 16, 2010 in CALI SC :(((( why so slow???!!

Texas SC is 5 months

Is there any way the filer can change service centers??

No it cannot be changed. It does not matter how long it takes, because as of july 2014 visas are being issued for brother/sister F4, who filed before December 2001. If the past is prologue you have a 13 year wait.
