Asia: East and Pacific	Name Change	Are you Australian born? If you are Aussie born you can just change your passport name directly using your US marriage certificate. If you are not Aussie born (and obtained citizenship through naturalization) you need to change the name on your citizenship certificate, then use that to apply for your passport name change. The Australian embassy in Washington DC accepts overseas marriage certificate as proof of name change, you do not need to get the Aussie BDM involved Thanks! Yes im australian born. Asia: East and Pacific	Name Change	Hi Guys, I have been researching changing my maiden name to married name on my passport and it seems that the queensland gov doesnt recognise overseas marriages. I think i need to change my name through births, deaths and marriages, then use this certificate to change my australian passport at the australian consulate here in the usa. The reason why i am thinking hawaii is because i am from Australia and Hawaii i guess you could say is half way between San Diego (where my fiance lives) and Australia. we only plan on having a small wedding, maybe 30 people max. H, where was the reception at for the wedding you went to?? I was thinking of doing something traditional, maybe a luau for the reception but not sure. Im sure it will all work out, just dont get too stressed about it. The thing i am worried about is i have no one to shop with in the states. Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)	criminal waivers	Hey gus Thanks heaps for the replies, to answer your questions... no it was not against a woman, I am also fairly sure it counts as a misdemeanor in Australia, there was no probation, no jail time, just a $600 fine, I think that in the 'facts' of the case there may be some note of alcohol being involved but I really cant remember. Another question also, do you have to prove 'extreme hardship' as well with the criminal waiver or do you just have to prove that you are rehabilitated? My fiancee and I wish to apply for a K1 but I can foresee my one and only criminal conviction from 2 years ago being a problem. It was for assault occasioning bodily harm... though technically the uscis cimt consider assault to only be ineligible if there was intent to commit a crime, robbery or rape, or if the assault caused serious bodily harm. my charge has nothing about intent to rape, rob, or commit a crime. OR do SERIOUS bodily harm. I hope everyone waiting with me has their approvals soon One thing I'm concerned about reading from other peoples experiences is there doesn't seem to be any guarantees they will accept the co-sponsors i-134? My fiance hasn't been able to work in the US because she's been making trips out to visit me in Australia as I make reasonably ok money so it's the easiest way for us to be together.
