Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Germany Embassy, what documents to send?

Hello,

My fiance and I just received our packet 3 from the Frankfurt embassy in Germany.  The instructions are sort of confusing.  Are we supposed to send DS230, DS156, DS156k, DS157 immediately, or do we wait until we collect all the required documents before doing so (police reports, birth certificates, medical records, etc)? I was thinking we are supposed to send DS230, 156, 156k, and 157 initially, then once we have all the documents we would submit DS1056 when we are ready for the interview?

Please advise if you have any experience, thank you.

Sincerly,

James

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionRe-routing Visa Package to New Embassy?

Also, I learned packet 3 has been sent out by US Embassy in Frankfurt.  I think we may be forced to go through this Embassy, but that would mean she would not be going home to Ukraine... I don't know what to do at this point unless the US Embassy of BOTH Kyiv and Frankfurt reply soon to my email.  I contacted the Visa Office that oversees the US Embassy's and they recommend doing what I already have done, and if I am unable to contact them through email my only resort would be to contact a senator.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionRe-routing Visa Package to New Embassy?

If the date is really January 27th, and not July 27th. Then your petition is already expired. Not sure if embassy will extend it, but most likely you will have to start from the beginning, as there is a time frame of 4 month.

I meant June 27th - Sorry.  Also, as a side note, I was under the impression a K-1 petition does NOT expire? So Can I have Frankfurt send the application to Ukraine? I am very worried about this.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionRe-routing Visa Package to New Embassy?

Hello, my K-1 was approved by USCIS and sent to the NVC on January 27th.  The NVC when I initially called said they had not processed it, and that it could take up to 8 weeks to process, so I should call back periodically.  I called back one week later, and they processed and shipped it to the US Embassy in Frankfurt, Germany.  My fiance was going to school in Germany.  She finished her semester just now, and is about to go home to Ukraine, and is putting her master's on hold so she can come to the USA and be with me.  I was just now looking for one way tickets from Germany to Ukraine even.  Just bad timing, I think that it was finally processed, but she is now going to be back in her home country of Ukraine.

So, can I have the embassy re-route the package to the US Embassy in Kiev, Ukraine somehow?

The NVC gave me some case number to use with usembassy.gov, but I haven't explored that site too much just yet, as I intend to call the US Embassy in Frankfurt, Germany when they open tomorrow.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionFrankfurt, Germany Timeline? (Packet 3 sent)

Hello, recently found out the US Embassy in Frankfurt, Germany has sent out packet 3, which from what I gather is the forms she needs to fill out and send to the US Embassy for her interview, and instructions, etc.

1.  Does anyone have any light on exactly what is contained in the packet 3? We're still waiting on it in the mail?

2.  Also, once received, assuming we have all our paperwork (I-134, copy of original USCIS I-129f package, supporting documents), how long until she is able to have her medical appointment? Do they speak English at the places where the medical appointment is held? My fiance is an international student from Ukraine, and is only in Germany for her Masters program.

3.  How long until she has her interview at the US Embassy? How long of a process is the actual interview in Frankfurt?

4.  How long after the interview will she receive her visa (if approved), or will it be same day, right there and then?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionGovernment Shutdown Effect on Interview & Visa issuance?

My fiance will be mailing her DS2001 stating she is ready for the interview, and has all the necessary paperwork.  What can we expect this government shutdown to affect? Will she be interviewed and issued a visa from the US Embassy in Germany as normal? Will there be any delays? I am very worried about this last step in the process to being able to see her again in the US!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionFrankfurt: Visa Interview 22OCT2013 @ 10:00am - Questions!

My fiance visa has her visa interview at 10:00 am next Tuesday in Frankfurt, Germany.  She did not receive her interview invitation letter in the mail from the US Embassy though, but I found out through email this information from them.  Will this letter be required at the time of the interview for something? Entry past security showing proof of having business there or something? She's leaving Monday by bus to Frankfurt in the morning, so I doubt she will be able to receive this mail in time.  What sort of questions will they be asking her during the interview? Has anyone gone through the visa interview in Frankfurt that can answer some of these questions?

Here is a list of questions she had for me, and my answers I sent her, can you please proof read my answers for accuracy of information? I don't want to tell her something wrong, and the it be my fault.

Address where to go?
Gießener Straße 30
60435 Frankfurt am Main

What to take with you / documents? Copies of any original documents you wish to retain.
Per their website: http://germany.usemb.../visa/iv/step7/

What you must bring to the visa interview for each applicant

·         Passport(s)

·         Immigrant Visa Fee (Fee Information)

We accept Cash (dollar & euro) and Credit Cards (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express)

We regret that due to the size of our waiting room, we are unable to accommodate friends or family members accompanying you who are not applying for visas, with the exception of U.S. citizen petitioners and parents of minor children.

Plan to spend roughy 2-3 hours at the U.S. Consulate General. If the visa interview was successfully completed, your visa will be mailed to you via registered mail (DHL) through the German postal system and should arrive within ten working days. Should any issues or delays arise, we will contact you.

How much money to bring? $400 USD plus however much money you think you need for copies if any need to be made during the interview process (fee: ?0.50 per copy).

What can you have with you, nose spray, wallet? I don't know about the nose spray, I doubt they'll think it is a security threat, but in this day and age it is a possibility they might think it is some chemical weapon.  Most likely you just need to bring it to the attention of the gaurd, and apparently have it in a plastic ziplock bag maybe? It's up to you, just know there is a chance that anything you bring, they tell you can not enter with you will have to leave outside somewhere, and there is no storage.  Wallet, is fine.  Read:
http://photos.state....r Customers.pdf

Old paperwork, denial of previous visa? Previous documents from America? These documents aren't listed as being required anywhere, but just bring them anyways I suppose to ease your mind.  Better to have documents and not need them, then to not have them, and need them.  Just don't give them any documents unless they ask you for them specifically.

Should you bring another copy of original documents? You are also reminded that an additional photocopy must be submitted for each original document that you wish to retain. Please make photocopies of these documents and bring the originals and copies on the appointment day. (There is also a photocopy machine available in the atrium, fee: ?0.50 per copy). You don't have the original documents any more, but since we sent them both the original and copy, they should return the original to you I believe without having to make extra copies.  Be prepared to make copies in the embassy though and have a few extra euros.

Pictures with you to interview? Yes, bring two, I thought you had extras? Plan for the worst, photo machine might be broken there, so bring them with you.  Make sure they meet these requirements: While waiting, if you do not already have the required

PHOTOGRAPHS, you should obtain them from one of the automatic photo-machines in the atrium. The dimensions of the facial image must measure about one inch (2.5 ? 3.5 cm) from chin to top of hair. A full-face photo including the hair, showing both ears clearly is required. The applicant should face the camera directly and not look down or to either side. No glasses, no earrings, no head coverings (see information sheet provided).

Interview invitation letter, if it is not received, is this a problem? I don't think so, but honestly don't know and will ask people on visajourney, and am waiting for the reply from the US Embassy about this question still also.

What questions do they ask in the interview? I'll ask on visajourney and get back to you...

Lastly, this website http://travel.state....tml#appointment has brought up questions I didn't have because it is so general and unspecific.  I think it is talking about non-fiance visa's perhaps for some things, but am not sure.

It says every immigration visa needs to fill out a DS-260.  We never did this, our original packet 3 instructions said this:

"FIRST: Please download and complete the original form DS-230 Part I & II, DS-156, Non-Immigrant Visa

Application (all applicants), DS-157, Supplemental Non-Immigrant Visa Application (required for all male
applicants between the ages of 16-45), and DS-156K, Non-Immigrant Fiancé(e) Visa Application (principal
applicant only)."

I now just looked on the US German Embassy website, and it has changed to...
"FIRST: Please send a copy of your passport and your preferred departure date to this office. In addition you need to
complete the online application form, DS-260. Detailed information about the process is available under:
http://travel.state..../info_5164.html. The Consular Electronic Application Center can be
accessed directly through: https://ceac.state.gov/iv/. We cannot initiate processing of your application until the
electronic form has been uploaded. Please be aware that we are unable to schedule your appointment for the
interview until you have completed all three steps. "

So should we fill this DS-260 out at the last minute although we already have been given an interview date? If so, where is this "Invoice ID Number" found for https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx ... I Have a case number, and INS receipt number, first I've heard of this though.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsTransfer Notice?

Thanks for the quick response.  I called the customer service center, and this all seems relatively normal.  Was just worried for a moment.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsTransfer Notice?

Okay, so apparently my application was received by the Vermont Service Center.  I got NOA1, December 31st, 2012 from them.  This is odd, because I'm fairly certain I had sent it to the appropriate Texas Service Center.  This is 6 months ago, and my mind is a bit fuzzy on the details, but looking back at some of the included letters, they are addressed to:

United States Department of Homeland Security
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
P.O. Box 660151
Dallas, TX 75266

So, I am inclined to believe that I routed my package properly, and am confused as to how it ended up in Vermont at all.  None-the-less, today I receive in the mail an 'I-797, Notice of Action' form stating "they have transferred my case because the record indicates that office has jurisdiction over the case.  That office will notify you of subsequent action taken on this case..."

I will definitely be calling their customer service number to request an update, and see if this will adversely affect my processing time... as it's been 6 months and I feel it shouldn't take but 2 months or so longer for this entire ridiculous process.

Has anyone had this or something similar happen to them though? How long did the process take once the correct service center received the application? It doesn't start my wait between NOA1 and NOA2 all over again does it!?

Thanks, and by the way.  They will want you to mail the original birth certificates and documents to them.  I thought we could just mail copies and then bring the originals to the interview.  Apparently not, they emailed requesting the originals, we sent them, and were quickly scheduled for an interview.  Sort of ridiculous having to mail original documents that are so sensitive.  Make sure you're emailing them anytime you have questions; I found out the interview date via email from asking before my fiance received the interview invitation letter (she got this the day before the interview actually).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 Received!

Thanks for the info.  I wonder then, if since she already has a social security number from her previous work and travel visa's here, if that same number will suffice upon marriage?  I know in Florida, where I am now, she gets in-state tuition (regardless of the usual requirement for 1 year proof of residency) since she'll be a military spouse.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 Received!

Thanks, I did make two copies of everything I submitted to USCIS for just that purpose of the interview at the US Embassy.  So school can likely be started once AOS is applied for, or once it is approved?  Also, she needs AOS to be approved to travel outside of the country right? We're planning on having the actual wedding ceremony in Ukraine, so I'm curious as to when we can expect to travel there after we marry in the US legally.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 Received!

Received my NOA2 the other day, it was dated 27 Jun 13.  I got NOA1 on 3 Jan 13.  So just under 7 months.  Now I understand that it goes to the NVC, and they send it to the Embassy (in Kiev, Ukraine) for my fiance.  My fiance is currently in Germany studying though, so are the documents she needs to fill out for the embassy sent to her Ukraine address, or if I call the Embassy, can they just email them? What documents will she need? Does anyone have experience with the US embassy in Kiev? Any rough idea of a timeline with that embassy? Just looking at the K1 Process Flowchart on here, I guestimated 3 months from now she could be arriving perhaps?

Also, once she arrives in the US, we get married, and apply for adjustment of status.  How soon can she resume school here in America.  She's in the middle of her MBA in Germany, and wants to finish as soon as possible in the US.  Can she start as soon as she arrives? Or does she need a green card? I'm military, so she'll likely get in-state tuition fees, but I'm not sure if it would help her to start school earlier somehow perhaps?

I think Akram does want him to stay in Kuwait even though he is married to a German and will be leaving himself. As far as his job, his contract ends in July and he should just put his resignation in sounds like a good idea better than doing it like the other way. I think they all want Hesham to stay in Kuwait and I would have been there but for my health taking a turn for the worst.  I agree with you all on this, it is good to hear it back, at least I am thinking clearly. lol I heard this and I am like wait a minute, I need some feedback.

Middle East and North AfricaDenied at border????????????

Hi Everyone,

I am new here, I have followed the forms for a long time, but have not participated in a long time. My husband will be here in July so I am down to a month, I can't believe it is here.  So everything is going well and yesterday he sends me a letter and with this little nugget, this is exactly as it was written to me.

"Akram told me not to resign here as he read and showed that to me yesterday that an officer at port of entry may not allow me to enter USA for any reason because I am Arab you see and he told me once I entered USA I can than resign by doing a power of attorney to him or to Hany to resign for me. He means to hold Kuwait chance in my hand they admit me to USA so I leave Kuwait".

He is just talking about not leaving his job yet and just resigning from America, and all this stuff about them denying him into America, anyone know anything about any of this.

Thanks

HI all,

Finally had some time to do more than just troll the posts looking at everyone else's notes and thought I'd jump into the right month's post.  :)

We got our NOA1 on 5/12/14 for Nebraska (like almost everyone else in this thread), so fingers crossed that they speed things up a bit.  The hubby is in the UK and the only good thing is that I travel there for work a LOT, so get to see him more than most people on here do.  After reading some of these threads, as much as I hate how long this is going to take, at least I can consider myself lucky enough to see him in person every few weeks for 3-4 weeks at a time.

Good luck all!  Can't wait to have him here with me in Dallas!!!

Welcome to the thread! Good luck to you too!
