Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Still waiting for interview date
Hey G,

Actually I didnt wait so long. We did DCF so I sent in all of our documents on the 24th of July, they received them the next day on the 25th. Then, I waited 10 business days (August the 8th made 10 business days), but got no response. I emailed them that day and got a response on the following business day (the 11th of August). Our appointment had been scheduled for August the 20th -- 7 business days later!

So in total when you look at it, it took 18 total days (including weekends) to get a response. Totally 27 days from sending in the documents, getting and going to the appointment date.

I've found that calling the embassy is a really big waste of time because they're so "understaffed", but email was effective. You can directly email the embassy through turkey.usembassy.gov with any questions. They always got back to us really quickly.

At any rate, if there's anything I can help you with let me know. I know I'm DCF and you're K1, but I've got a lot of friends back home that are doing K1 as well.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 question
QUOTE (Thai family @ Jul 3 2008, 05:21 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The I-34 is needed at the time of the interview at the consulate. You do not need it to send in the I-130.

If I enclose photocopies of the I-134 would that help speed up the process?

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 question
Hey everybody. Trying to get a K-3 for Dear Husband. I haven't been employed for 4 years (Ive been a student in Turkey) so my dad is gonna be our sponsor. I have to fill out an I-134 and so does my dad. My question is, should I be sending those in with the I-130? I know I need to take the originals with me to the interview, but if I send photocopies would that help? Im sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo confused after having read so much information.

Your replies are always appreciated! luv.gif

Middle East and North AfricaWhy does AP in Morocco generally tend to be short?
Could it be that Ankara deals with all of the Irani applicants as well as Turkish ones? On the website I thought I saw something about all Irani applicants being required to go through AP, in which case, that could be why.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBE PATIENT AND LET THE PROCESS WORK!
People really do not have any clue as to how emotionally tormenting it is to wait for this stuff.

I also feel bad for the family members of the couples who are waiting on them to come home. For me personally, the hardest thing is not being able to have family AND my husband. I've got my husband, but I want my family back with him at the same time. It's really difficult for some people (like my friends here in Turkey) to understand why Im not satisfied with having my husband around only. I want to go home to MY country where I have more rights, freedom and respect from other people where I can do what I want when I want (within reason) and not be judged for it as much as I am here.

And most importantly, I want my husband to be able to experience this, too.

I really can't complain because we're DCF and we're together -- I could never imagine being without Oguz -- but keeping patient is really not easy. I hope everyone on here will find their happy ending much sooner than later!

I guess the question that is always in my mind would be "Is it so bad to want cake AND pie?"

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864 scares me to death!
QUOTE (silent @ Jul 3 2008, 06:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
First off, you don't need to send i-864 with your I-130 package.

Once the i-130 package gets approved, only then the next stage comes for Affidavit of support (i-864)

Secondly, for domicile, do you have any bank account in US or your driving license or your state id proof? That will work, along with your father's address, stating you will stay at his address once you and your husband lands to USA until you find a new place.

Third, your father can be your joint sponsor, when the time comes for Affidavit of support, given he earns more than the 125% of poverty level of the given household size.

I must also ask you, since you have been living in Turkey for 4 years, are you going through DCF or are you going to file your i-130 at Chicago lock box in US, please look through DCF (direct consular filling), it is much more faster.

Best of luck good.gif

Yes I will be doing DCF. Thanks to helpful members like yourself on this website, I realized that K-3 would really be a waste of time.

My driver's liscense expired in Feb 08 AND my wallet got stolen, which had the old liscense. I went home last Christmas to Pittsburgh where my family lives -- would that prove domicile?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864 scares me to death!
Hi everybody,

I've read so much information on here about the I-864 my head is spinning. If you've got any information at all that could help answer the following it would be greatly appreciated! smile.gif

I've been in Turkey for almost 4 years now. I haven't worked in Turkey at all -- I originally came to Turkey to study Turkish, but then later dropped out and stayed with my (then fiance) husband. I've given some private English lessons out of my home, but that is not enough to claim taxes for (barely over $2000).

Do I still need a Domicile? My father runs his own business and is willing to give me a job. WOuld him writing a letter of employment prove as a domicile?

also, Ive looked at the example form I-864. I have no assets, stocks, real estate, savings -- nothing. Would I just write 00.00 for everything?

And when assembling the I-130 packet (I have everything ready except the affidavit) should I put my father's I-864 first or mine?

Sorry for all of the questions -- I hope they weren't *too* terribly newbie-ish blush.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-230 QUESTION
Hey everybody -- Ive got a few questions about the DS-230. I'm doing DCF for my husband and on the form parts 12 & 14 I wasn't sure...

My husband is not working currently because he just finished his military service a few months ago and we want to re-establish ourselves in the US. Normally he would be a French teacher/translator. Should I write this under his occupation in number 12 or write N/A or none?

Also, I haven't been employed since I left the US 4 years ago. I used to give private lessons out of my home but have never made enough to file for taxes. I've prepared my tax statement and I-864 and so has my father, the co-sponsor. My question is in question 14 where it says 'spouses occupation' should I write private tutor or again N/A or none? I don't want a conflict to appear when they see my I-864.

Also on a lot of these forms in general where Ive written none (for example, children) the computer won't let me fill in N/A for date fields. Should I handwrite in N/A or leave them blank?

Thanks in advance!!! luv.gif
