IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUCS income....

there will only be two of us

Then he will need to be making at a minimum $19,387.50 per year to sponsor you, or $15,510 if he is in the military.
As long as he meets that requirement, you should be fine.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUCS income....
Here are the minimum povery guidelines for 2013: http://aspe.hhs.gov/...y/13poverty.cfm
He must make 125% of the poverty threshold income, unless your spouse is in the U.S. military, in which case it's 100%.

If it is just you and him, and he is a civilian, he must be making at least $19,387.50 a year to sponsor you on his own.
If he is in the military, he must be making $15,510 a year to sponsor you on his own (although even an E-1 with less than four months of service makes $16,836 a year with a raise after, of course, four months).
If you have kids, go to the table, add together the total members of your family, find which income level corresponds with that number, and multiply it by 125% (if civilian), and you'll have what he needs to be making to ensure a clean AoS.

You won't be able to convince the government that you won't be a burden on them no matter what you say; it's like a complete stranger knocking on your door and saying, "Can I move into your guest room, I promise I won't be a burden!" Unless you got a roommate who can say, "Hey, no worries, I know this guy, I can vouch for him," you probably ain't gonna let him past the door.

Philippinesearthquake in bohol
Hello folks!! Flew in here to Cebu at 2am, and we were awakened when our condo started violently shaking.....welcome to The Philippines. At first I thought it was a dream, or a violent reaction to my spaghetti and YUM at Jollibees after we left the airport...hahahah. We live on the 5th floor of the 12 story Sentinel Condo building here in Cebu. We ran out of the building hoping it would not fall in on us. We have some damage in our condo and all our pictures and glass vases and objects fell off the walls and shelves. There has been smaller tremors and aftershocks pretty much all day long...it's been scary. We are still waiting to hear from NVC for our case number?? Our NOA2 was August 27th....almost 8 weeks now.PATIENCE Mike, PATIENCE!! Haha. God bless us all.

PhilippinesMNL number received. Do I start processing?
Hello Hank! Just a question or 2 to the expert - YOU, from me - a struggling novice. Our NAO2 date was August 27th. On Tuesday, October 22nd I was finally able to get thru to the NVC via the telephone and a man gave me our MNL # I am here in CEBU with honey Gina, and we will go to BPI on Tuesday October 29 to pay the visa application fee. My question is..... I did not notify USCIS or NVC that I am living here in Cebu for the next 6 months till April. Will they be sending any forms, or confirmation letters to my home address in Ohio which I listed on the 129F form?? Do they also send the same forms or letters to you via your email?? So far I have NOT received any emails from the NVC. Thanks for all your help Hank.

PhilippinesAny filipinas in OHIO?
Hello fellow Daytonians? Gina and I - Mike will be flying back to our home in Dayton, Ohio in April 2014. It will be Gina's first trip to Ohio and the USA. I am sure she will get homesick from her family and friends. I'm sure she will miss them and her native Filipina people in general. I know she would welcome having have any Filipina friends in Dayton. We will look for and try to join any "Fil-Am" organizations and clubs, and look to shop at any Asian markets there. Gina said to feel free to contact her on her email at gbm_1763@yahoo.com

PhilippinesAny filipinas in OHIO?
Hello friends in the great state of OH-IO! This is Mike from Dayton, and currently going thru the K-1 process with my Cebuano Fiancée Gina. I am traveling back to Cebu in October, and then hopefully returning back to Ohio with Gina and her Visa in April of next year 2014. I am guessing that Gina will get abit lonely and homesick here in this new country and experience for her. I'm sure she would welcome the opportunity to have other Filipina friends here in Ohio. Feel free to contact us, and Gina is also on Facebook, and on this website - her member name being "Gina&Mike" Good luck to everyone, and God bless us all!

I apologize to all I offended. My "intentions" were not to offend anyone. Yes, I used a poor choice of words and wrote a sentence which I should not have wrote. My error!

I am NOT laughing at the Philippine people, nor am I laughing at the victims of the typhoon. YOU misunderstood my post sir. I love the Philippine people and country of The Philippines or I would NOT choose to live here 6 months every year. I was "making light" of my own personal events and unfortunate situations which have occurred, and which I have had to endure recently since I arrived here. I feel sorry and compassion for the Philippine people and victims of all the tragedies which have occurred here.

Yes, Hank having fun, fun, and more fun. Nothing else to do but laugh and enjoy all that has gone on since I left the good ole USA. Concerned about Filipina doctors here.....been battling a cold for 10 days now....regular cold like I get in Ohio. We went to the hospital and got examined, xray'd, etc... They would NOT give me any antibiotics?? Worried that they do not know how to diagnose and treat a simple common cold?! As far as our visa petition goes.....Embassy replied with an email that said "We referred your communication to our processing team for appropriate action." We received that on November 5th. Gina and I went to the U.S. Consulate at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu. He said nothing he could do, and has no contact with Embassy as they don't communicate with him (strange?). He said go ahead and go up there and proceed with the interview and interview date - November 25th as if Gina as the applicant. So we are going to St. Luke's next week - 13. 14 & 15. We'll see what happens?? We preregistered on line as Gina as the patient/applicant. God bless us all.

Mike & Gina here in CEBU riding the storm out. High winds but not much rain here. I'm NOT impressed!! I've been through stronger winds during tornados in Ohio. The storm path apparently went further north and missed here in CEBU more, as earlier they said the "eye" would pass over Cebu. I've been here since October 15th.....got shook by earthquake within 7 hours here, been sick for 2 weeks thanks to the Cebu germs, smog, and pollution.....messed up my interview application date page with Embassy, fell off my bike and broke my left thumb, and now typhoon which has us no TV, and no electric. Gosh, I love Cebu, The Philippines, and especially my honey Gina!!

PhilippinesUSEM Interview Experience Nov 19, 2013 , Still have Tourist visa
Hello all. Honey Gina and I have our interview on Monday, November 25th. She is worrying over what to wear?? Ladies can you please advise - nice pants or nice conservative dress??? Any particular color?? I told her to wear a red, white & blue dress - God bless the USA (also colors of The Philippines flag). I'm trying to decide what to wear myself..... My shorts and tie-dye shirt, or my pink strapless dress......joking, hahaha. Wish us luck, and good luck to everyone else.

PhilippinesCFO - CEBU Experience
Hello, hello!! The US Embassy requested, took, and kept the copy of my Income Tax Return. I only made one copy, and gave it to them. Should Gina just tell them at CFO that the Embassy has it?? Good luck and God Bless to everyone.

PhilippinesCFO - CEBU Experience
Gina is going to CEBU CFO next month. Last step before flying to USA. Just curious.... How can Gina prove to them that I have never been married before?? She should say she asked all my brothers and sisters and they all told her no, that I have never been married before??
Mike&GinaMalePhilippines2013-11-26 18:10:00
PhilippinesI need some comments...
Hello hello! I was with honey Gina for her interview at US Embassy in Manila on November 25th. They only asked her 3 simple questions, and could clearly see our love, care, and respect for each other. Gina passed easily. Good luck! Many people said up there that's it's an advantage to have your fiancée with you. We did witness a couple of girls that were sent away - not immediately approved, and we noticed that they were alone - no fiancé was with them. What does that indicate??
Mike&GinaMalePhilippines2013-12-04 05:36:00
PhilippinesHoney's CFO day in CEBU....
Honey Gina woke up this morning at 4am to ensure she got there early enough for one of the only 12 spots available for the class.......I was lazy and tired and stayed home and in bed since they wouldn't allow me in the building anyway! She finally arrived home at 6pm, finished......14 hours after her day started. She said it was a very long tiring day. They asked for my proof of being single. I had already given my tax documents/returns to the US Embassy in Manila, so she had nothing to give/show CFO except a copy of my original I-129F form. She passed and we are done.....now, on to the USA at the end of March and get married. An 8 month process to complete everything, and all capped off with a 8-10 hour long class at CFO......only in The Philippines!! God Bless Us All. And, Merry Christmas & Happy blessed New Year to all as well in 2014.
Mike&GinaMalePhilippines2013-12-20 07:06:00
PhilippinesMerry Christmas Everyone!
Merry Christmas to all, and best wishes for a blessed New Year 2014. Christmas here in CEBU is crazy!! Fireworks going off constantly, continuously, and everywhere!! I even spent about 2000 PESOS on them to bring in Christmas. From 54 years of living in the USA, my mind keeps asking me, and referring back to the 4th of July, as that is the only time we do fireworks in the USA. Having fun here but can't wait to take honey Gina to the USA......but, only in April after it warms up a little at our home in OHIO. I don't want honey to freeze her little "tushie" off....lol haha.
Mike&GinaMalePhilippines2013-12-25 03:31:00
Philippinestranslation
Greetings from CEBU! Honey Gina who speaks several languages and dialects said she can't understand it.....thinks it's "Muslim"?????? I'm not very "edumacated" myself, but I was unaware that Muslim is a language?! Hahaha. I'm from Ohio which is close to Kentucky, so we have our own language there.
Mike&GinaMalePhilippines2014-01-05 19:02:00
PhilippinesHank.... SALAMAT NG MADAMI!!!!
He's the best!! Saved me many dollars by assisting us in our journey and many questions......and my own "self-imposed" problems!! He gets my vote if he ever runs for US President. Gina and I are both in our 50's, but if we get pregnant, our first child will be named Hank......whether it's a male or female!! Hahaha. God bless to Hank and his family, and many thanks!

PhilippinesBalikbayan Visa?
Hi Don & Jenny.....Mike & Gina here. I lived there in Cebu, Philippines for 6 months last year (Oct 13 - April 14) as I hate Winter here in Ohio. Loved it there but did get alittle homesick for family and friends here, and my nice home and life I have here. To make a long story shorter...I brought Gina here to USA on K-1 Fiance Visa. We just got married on June 14th, and filed her paperwork for her green card. We expect to have the green card in November or December at the latest?? (we hope!!). We also want to return at that time back to Cebu again to live for 4 months or so till April 2015. I also have many questions as well.... Balikbayan Visa?? Should I get Gina's Philippine Passport changed now here in the USA (Philippine Consulate - Chicago)from her maiden name to her new married name?? Can we travel back to the Philippines for a 4 or 5 month stay without any problems from USA or Philippine Officials for both of us - her and I??? last year when I was there, I had to go to the Philippine Consulate twice - every 59 days to EXTEND my Visa and stay. I hope I "qualify" for the free 1 year Visa because I am now the spouse of a Philippine Citizen - my new wife Gina? Any help will be greatly appreciated....and Hank (the expert), your advise and opinions are also welcomed and appreciated!! lol Mike & Gina.... hopefully heading back to Cebu!!!

I just did XOOM. She recieved it immediately in PESOS at a pawnshop right next to her house. Sent $1,000 dollars and they only charged me $4.99 for the transaction. So easy!

PhilippinesReport of Marriage
Oh, and also - YES, ROM form needs to be notarized before sending in. Our notary just signed and stamped at the bottom of the form - there's a blank space at the bottom of the page. Good Luck!!!
Mike&GinaMalePhilippines2014-10-21 06:45:00
PhilippinesReport of Marriage

We just did ours last month - sent to Washington DC Consulate since we got married on the beach in Florida. We originally put Gina's last name - her previously married name (she was widowed). When we received the Accepted and OK'd form back we noticed they changed her name on the form (using white-out and a pen) to her birth name which they got from her birth certificate we also had to send in. So nice of them to make that change for us, instead of sending it back and making us do it ourselves and send it back in.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhats the "order" of approval ??

Hello VJ er's!

Trying to be patient and also keep a sense of humor during this long, sanity-testing process of obtaining a Fiance Visa. I filed the petition in April 2013. I am noticing almost daily that others are receiving their approvals even though they filed way after I did (am I just jealous?). How do "they" choose, or what is the process for approving one more quickly over another??

I thought my petition was put together "flawless" and the way its described to do on here on VJ. I thought I had an impeccable background and stood out amongst others who have flaws, or issues in their characters or backgrounds, histories etc... Not to brag, but..... I was a 3.8 student in high school and college while obtaining my bachelors degree. I served my country in the US NAVY proudly and left with a honorable discharge. I served my state and community proudly through 21 years of law enforcement, and now live on a very good pension which is more then enough to support a wife and family. I have never had a criminal background, or any form of financial difficulty such as a bad credit rating, foreclosure, bankruptcy etc... I have never been married before and have no children. I guess the worst thing on my record is a speeding ticket in my whole entire life of 54 years. And my one "SIN" in life......I hate to have to admit it.....chocolate!!! Yes, I'm going to hell for that!!

Now for my "lighter" side.....I have never been married, arrested, divorced, or stole a candy bar from Walmart. No children = no child support issues. I have never coveted my neighbors wife or daughter. I have never taken, smoked or inhaled any illegal substance. I have never owed anyone more than I have ever earned, or had enough in my bank account to pay for it. I occasionally but rarely used the words "damn" or the "F" and "B" words. I do "only" go to church once a week instead of the 7 days of the week that the majority of people go. I do vote every election and pay my taxes every year. I did have a garage sale this summer and gave my profits to a needy family instead of depositing them in my bank account. I do cut my grass and plant flowers in my yard. And, I always put out cookies and milk for Santa Claus when he visits my house on early Christmas morning. I guess I need to put out lettuce for the Easter Bunny's annual visit??

OK, you're right.....yes I have lived a boring life (ha, ha). But one thing IS for sure....I love my baby Gina in The Philippines and want to marry her! Met her on-line in September 2012, and lived with her 4 months in Cebu from December till April. I guess I'm just "venting" here, and like previously stated - "jealous" of others, and frustrated at ours not being approved. But yes, I am curious - really am, as to how others get chosen so quickly, and "out of order" over others???? I appreciate your answers and your own thoughts and concerns....fire away!!! And may God bless us all.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApril filer
Hello, hello...another April filer here - April 4th. Isn't so frustrating and disheartening to see May, June, & July filers get theirs approved while we sit and wait for hell to freeze over...hahaha. Trying to laugh a little at this whole agonizing and painful process. We so desperately want to be with our loved ones but can't due to a very illogical process or system. I don't know or understand the "order" in which they look at or okay the petitions, but to me it seems very wrong. My parents told me that life's not fair.....now I see they were so right. I'm just venting a little and very frustrated right now. When I go to any government agency such as post office line, or drivers license line, they process the people in line and in order. Why doesn't the USCIS process the applicants in line in the order they receive them?? Why do they jump and approve July filers when there's ones from November, December, and January waiting their turn?? I don't understand it.....can someone educate or school me on the process or logic I'm missing. I'm somewhat patiently waiting....HELP!

I believe we go to BPI and pay the Visa Application Fee. Where do I go to print out the application form?? Hang in there folks, and patience!!! Hello, hello from wonderful Cebu! Just waiting here patiently with HONEY, and enjoying the daily aftershocks and tremors still from the earthquake. Our NAO2 date was August 27. I just tried to call NVC and it's busy phone line - can't get thru. Since it's 8 weeks now, I will call everyday all day long until they give me our number....it's the only way, or they will NOT respond. Good luck to all and GOD bless!! Is persistence a good thing?! K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFix mistake now, or wait for RFE to be sent to me?
I saw on this website earlier where a member said he got an RFE...Well, dumb old me did the same thing he did (reason for RFE), so I fully expect the RFE to be coming my way soon. It's in regards to the G-325A Biographic Information where it asks: "This form is submitted in connection with an application for:" I also typed in the "Other (Specify):" box "K-1 VISA" instead of what he was advised "I-129F." Do I wait for the RFE, or take some corrective actions now? Can I "white out" K-1 VISA, and type in I-129F myself? Do I have my fiancée Gina reprint the form again with the correction made, her sign it, and send it to me from The Philippines? Or should I just sit here and wait patiently for the RFE to come and do it all then? Has anyone on here made the same mistake I made and NOT received an RFE for it? Is it an "offense" that definitely requires correction be made, or what I think it is - not that big a deal?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHead of line privileges....alittle humor today folks

Greetings! Hello fellow VJ'ers. We enjoy the site and so appreciate all the help we have recieved thus far on our journey. I'm just sitting here wondering, while pulling out the last hairs on my already old and balding head. What are the chances me (Petitioner) and my Fiancee Gina can get "head of the line privileges" due to our ages and "impeccable" backgrounds (ha-ha-ha)?? We are both soon to be "senior citizens" in our 50's, and thus "time running out on us" in life, unlike you young 20 year old petitioners. :D I turned 54 and Gina will enter her 5th decade of living next month in June (sorry Honey for revealing your age!). I am a retired police officer, US Navy veteran, never been married before, no criminal record, no financial/credit problems, no children problems , squeaky clean (and pure as the driven snow!)....ha-ha! Gina also "clean" - no criminal records, no credit/financial problems, good work history, widowed, and wants to marry this old 'lifelong bachelor." Why cant we move to the head of the line for processing from CSC on our petition request?? Ha-ha.....just joking kids.....(kinda).....we'll wait our turn like everyone else, and wish everyone the best of luck. God Bless Us All !!! dancin5hr.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow Many Bank Statements for I-134?
Ah Japan, and Tokyo. Loved it there too. I was in the US Navy from 1983-87, and stationed at and lived in Yokosuka, Japan for 3 years (even had a Japanese Fiancee while there, but never married her eventually). Spent many, many good times in Tokyo.... great, fun honorable people there. I also love the fun and friendly people of The Philippines too. I lived in Cebu from December until April of last year, and really enjoyed it except for the smog - burned my eyes and lungs when I went out jogging there! Haha. You get an interview date in Tokyo yet? Are you going to be with her for that, or fly to the USA with her?? You going to bring her to Ohio for the "harsh" Ohio Winter season?? Haha, guess it wont be too bad for her though, as she's probably used to it because I know it gets cold in Japan to. No plans to work in The Philippines, just relax, exercise, site-see, and be with honey Gina for her interviews and medicals and her flight back to Ohio in April when its hopefully warmed up around here. I enjoy the Philippine culture there, the scenery and sights, and the friendly Filipina people. I am a lucky man, and blessed by God. I was fortunate to retire early as a police officer, and now just live on a good pension. Keep us in mind in Ohio next April if we are only an hour apart. Gina said she would like to have some friends from The Philippines in Ohio there. Good luck to you, and GO BUCKS!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow Many Bank Statements for I-134?

GO BUCKS!!! (Ohioans)....Hahaha. I am ready to head over to Cebu to see and stay with my honey Gina for next 6 months. I am taking every bit of financial paperwork I can and that will fit into my luggage to show them my finances. I have past 3 years tax returns, all statements from all my banks and financial institutions, and a picture of my piggy bank I broke open to get the last $12.39 cents out of there. We got our NAO2 on August 27th, now just going over there to get the MNL# and set up interviews and medicals for honey. Hope to have fun and I hope I brought all the required information they will want to look at. Is West Jefferson close to Dayton where me and honey will be living?? GO BUCKS!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Computers down

What do they actually do at the NVC? Of all the steps the NVC appears to be the weakest and most mysterious step.

Someone, on the forums, said it is only a formality when K1 visas are concerned.

We want our wedding to be in the April, but if the NVC takes as long as others are reporting, we will not make it.

Thanx

Our petition is in the 'USCIS to NVC' black hole too. Hopefully NVC will get our files early next week.
