National Visa Center (Dept of State)Is this typical?

Just a FYI from the originator of this post... I just called NVC and they finally received my case and forwarded today. Took exactly 4 weeks from my NOA2 date.

Still no news for us... :clock:
Congrats for u though!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Is this typical?

.....If you are after that either keep bugging them or as they suggested contact local immigration throught there infopass (appointment), to help track where its gathering dust. USCIS phone reps cant do anything like that. Oh yes, you need to tell them exactly what type of visa and circumstances because they are dealing with all types and can easily misunderstand you particular circumstance. They should require receipt number so they pull it up on screen to assist.

Good Luck, I'm in the same boat 19 days here..frustrating...

I second this! We had an infopass appointment. Our agent was both professional and informative. We had a written list of questions. The agent answered every question and advised us of where to find the answers to the questions she wasn't completely sure of. No grey area at all. Indeed, infopass was a worthwhile experience.

Sometimes, (unintentionally I'm sure) we get information on these forums and from other sources that isn't always 100%accurate. It is a reassuring comfort to get the well advised information from the infopass personel.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Is this typical?
You'll love this! We called the USCIS "mis"information line to find out where our file was and the person we spoke to said, " You have received your approval, your wife can come to the U.S. now". So we said, "Are you sure about that? We still have to have the case forwarded to the NVC." She said, yes, you're approved.

Can you imagine? How can a representative be so misinformed? Good thing we know better. Otherwise, we'd be making plans and setting ourselves up for quite the disappointment. Lesson learned...double check the information you receive from USCIS help line.

 Oh well. I'm sure they are trying their best.

We were approved for our K3 and the I-130 April 5th  . It's now the 19th and NVC doesn't have our file. That's 2 wks! Should it not have been received by now???

We're in the same boat but our approval wasn't until the 5th of April. Mind you, the CSC hasn't even sent out the file to NVC. I sure will be glad to get our file to NVC  Keep us updated if you can.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresodd??? I-129F (K3) CSC
Thank you everyone! Your information is reassuring. It's so hard not to question every detail especially when you hear of cases where something went wrong early and it was not caught. Every day we're apart is seemingly longer than the any when we were together. Guess it's that way for everyone...best wishes for a speedy process for all of you!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresodd??? I-129F (K3) CSC
Our 129-F (K3) was transfered to the California Service Center.

If you go to the USCIS processing time government site, the California Service Center has a timeline for 129-F for K1's and K-2's but not for K-3's. If you go to the Missouri USCIS National Benefits processing times, it show 129-F for K-3's and K-4's. Does this mean that our K-3 is sitting in a pile at the wrong location? Yes, I realize that the actually processing is done at the NVC and the service centers just doing the approvals but why did it get transferred to California and not an alternate service center if this is the case? Note that California has the longest wait time of all the centers...

Has anyone else wondered this?

Although we filed in December, our case was transfered to CSC in January so we're considered January filers. We haven't been approved yet BUT...we did a touch today (on both the K3 and the CR-1) :dancing: . Maybe next week??? We have our fingers crossed!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 transfer to NVC
We received a letter in the mail (on May 4th dated for April 30th) stating that NVC had assigned the case number and will be forwarding our case to Montreal within a week. According to the call center at NVC, our case "has not yet been received". So, for those of you still waiting, don't fret if your message says that it's not at NVC...it probably is, they just haven't had time to catch up with the info line.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 transfer to NVC
When I talked to a live person 2 weeks ago they said, "2-4wks" for them send the file to NVC. Now they say, "2-4wks but up to 90 days". Sounds like they are falling behind even more. We are at the 4 wk mark now. Actually, we are knocking on the 6 month mark for processing. Oh how I long to be a Vermont filer...

CanadaCanadian NOA2 approval!
Last night we received our approval for the I-130! Which was unexpected b/c the timeline showed that May was our adjudication estimate. We were expecting the I-129F to come first since the date on that one was/is March 10th. So good news to my fellow Canadians...we must be next for more NOA2's! Good luck  on recieving yours next!

CanadaNVC-choice of agent
It seems like most VJ'ers appoint the USC as Choice of Agent but why? Wouldn't it be just as convenient to have the mail go to the Canadian? Our baby will likely be born in Canada since the due date is July 4th (and timelines don't look to promising), therefore I will be going to Canada as soon as school is out (I'm a teacher). Any suggestions?

By the way, our VJ timeline showed the adjudication date estimate as May 9th for I-130 and March 10th for the I-129F. I noticed some people wondering how the V.J. timeline compared to actual so I thought you'd like to know (B.T.W. we still don't have the approval on the I-129F).

Consular Offices Abroad Resume Accepting I-130 Immigrant Visa Petitions

Effective immediately, consular posts abroad will accept petitions for immediate relative immigrant classification from American citizens who are resident in their consular districts, including members of the armed forces, as well as true emergency cases, such as life and death or health and safety, and others determined to be in the national interest.

As of January 22, 2007, consular offices abroad were instructed to cease accepting certain immigrant visa petitions because consular officers lacked the means to perform the required criminal background checks on American citizen petitioners, as required by the Adam Walsh Act.

Subsequently, the Department of State and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) worked to develop a mechanism whereby USCIS will perform these required "Adam Walsh Act" checks for any petitions accepted abroad by consular officers.

To demonstrate residency in a consular district, American Citizen petitioners must be able to show that they have permission to reside in the consular district and that they have been doing so continuously for at least six months before filing the petition. Individuals who are in the country on a temporary status, such as student or tourist, would not be considered to meet the residency standard.

Examples of family emergency include minor children who would be unexpectedly left without a caretaker. Examples of national interest include facilitating the travel of United States military and other USG direct hire employees assigned overseas who are pending transfer on orders and need to petition for immigrant classification of their spouse and minor children at posts overseas.

All lawful permanent residents, and American Citizens resident in the United States or with a permanent address in the United States, must file I-130 petitions at the USCIS Service Center having jurisdiction over their place of residence (as indicated on the USCIS website: http://www.uscis.gov...form/i-130.pdf).
