This is the status of our case ....

U.S. Department of State
IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION
Ready
Case Creation Date: 16-Aug-2013 Status Updated Date: 30-Aug-2013
Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at: http://travel.state..../info_3731.html

For more information, please visit TRAVEL.STATE.GOV.

So my next question is .... How long are we going to have to wait or should we be telephoning the Embassy to schedule the appointment ourselves? we have tried various ways to do this online but have been unable to find the correct way forward, we appear to keep hitting dead ends.We have followed every link we can find on many various sites including London Embassy and travel State etc.. Any advice is truly and greatly appreciated. Thank you x

How long in advance did you get to know about your appointment date and time? I have seen differing time frames and you guys in here will know best for the London Consulate. i have had my medical and am excitedly awaiting the interview.  We have one suggestion that the Interview is 4 weeks from receiving our packet 3 back at the consulate. That would be a wait of 2 more weeks if true.  My baby is just as excited but we just want a guide to help us through the wait times ... Thank you Janie x

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAdvice Needed

I have sent numerous emails through the contact form, they appear not to get through to them, comes back message deleted, just happened again. I am getting so frustrated right now. I would love to just be able to have a talk to someone, get the answer and get on with it. The problem seems to be we do not have a DS 160 number as our case was pre the new system. These things are sent to test us i guess and i feel really tested right now. Help!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAdvice Needed

Hi everyone,

We received an email stating that we had an interview date and time set for London Consulate. The email said that a letter had been posted out to us on 22nd of October. This letter hasn't arrived and the interview is in just over a week. We cannot proceed with paying for the interview until certain numbers from that letter can be added to the sign up proceedure. Does anyone anywhere have a actual contact number where we can speak to a real life person as the email contact form isn't working for us. We are becoming very anxious about getting this all done in readiness for the interview. And thank you all in advance

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLondon Interview on Friday, Nov 1 but still no letter

I am in the same situation, I had an email stating that our letter was posted to me and that My interview was set for 7th of November. No letter has arrived and i also found i couldn't pay fee's as we do not have a DS-160 number.

Anyone else here finding they are having difficulties due to the transition? If so have you found any way to be able to deal with this?

The appointment letter didn't arrive, it was posted out on the 22nd of October. We did the older forms as we were told to, the 230 and others that had to be filled in and returned. The new way appears to be easier to keep a track of but we had to do it the older ways. I am glad they will take the money on the day as without a DS-160 number the online way just wouldn't do.

man i am so frustrated right now, we have spent the day chasing up one lead after another to keep hitting dead ends. :(

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 denied due to stupid USCIS office mistake

I had a similar situation where they made a mistake and denied us due to abandonment. We emailed the ombudsman and after a little over a month USCIS approved our petition. Ombudsman coordinated with them and USCIS corrected their mistake. Submit a report here. This is what we did. https://www.dhs.gov/...case-assistance

here is our post http://www.visajourn...e-error-merged/

POA,

Did you end up having to file the I-130 again ?

But a formal complaint over the phone is not mailing back the RFE, right?

True, I guess I learned the hard way, but it's still very sad to me that they are this hard to deal with. We had a very straightforward case with everything sent in at the very beginning...I guess no news is bad news with the USCIS....oh well. Attorney will be filing a motion to reopen on the grounds of new evidence (additional affidavits and documents establishing residence and marriage (lease/rent agreements, etc) as well as blatant erroneous information used for the decision on the part of USCIS. I will also be going to the local field office in person with the same paperwork in hand as well as everything else I can bring with me. I won't go down without a fight....

You can keep checking the website to book an infopass.  The appointment dates and times change all the time.  You could possibly get a sooner one.

Also, calling and talking to a Tier 1 or Tier 2 on the phone does NOT mean that you made a formal complaint.  Talking on the phone to anyone at USCIS is pointless... they all just make stuff up.  You need to do everything formally through documentation.

If they made up something about someone that does not exist, then the onus is on you to write a very formal letter in rebuttal to the RFE.

I know it's a broken system and that it just plain sucks... but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Good luck!

I now realize calling them is 100% pointless, they all blurt out the same speech every time. I will be going forward with an immigration attorney to get this sorted out.

Yes, but you didn't reply at all? Just ignored it?  You could have sent an explanation?

Actually, I made a formal complaint twice.

Cutting it close is better than missing the deadline.  Go to that appointment armed with all documentation.  If you can remember details of the phone calls or if you happen to have notes take those along as well.  One thing my Mother taught me was to sit down, write the date and time on the top of a notebook and when the person answers you write down their name.  If transferred you write down that person's name and the time of the transfer and the time when they pick up the phone.  You make notes of your questions and the answers given.  That way you have a detailed record to show someone at a later date.  It is all about documentation throughout this entire process.  You never rely on the person on the phone doing anything for you.  Always send in a piece of paper. Granted that piece of paper has to get put with your file, but if you can show that on such and such date I mailed this to you (show a copy you made and the receipt showing delivery) you have a much stronger case.

You failed to send in the requested document asked for in the RFE. By the USCIS' rules that implies that you abandoned the petition.  Now you have to fight to get the petition re-opened or start all over again.  So I would go to the infopass appointment with what they asked for in the RFE and more and see what happens.

I hope it all goes well for you,

Dave

the only problem is the thing they ask for does not exist. They want paperwork for a divorce between me and an imaginary person....

the soonest date at the local office is  Feb 26th....that's cutting it waaaaay too close, don't you think? I am terrified this is going to go terribly wrong ...I'm crying daily about this already.

No, I did not send any additional documentation in as I was told not to by the USCIS workers I spoke to (the second said it was too late to do anything when I called). They had the document already with the initial filing. I feel it's not appropriate that I have to re-file (or pay the large fee to re-open) because they are incompetent.

Make an info pass and bring ALL your evidence in person!

the only thing, is can this be done in the 30 day window they give? Looking at the wait times with USCIS, it would be weeks at the least to see them in person. They don't even seem willing to let me talk to the local field office (on USCIS worker simply hung up on me).

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 denied due to stupid USCIS office mistake

We received a denial notice Feb 8, 2014 stating that we abandoned the petition since we did not submit a document they asked for Dec 10, 2013. Now let me explain, on Dec 10th, I get a letter asking for a divorce decree/death certificate to proof that I am not married to an imaginary person. The had my previous married name (first marriage-ended back in 2007) noted to be married to a man that was made from the first and middle name of my current husband (beneficiary) and the last name of my ex husband. I called them the moment I opened the letter and reported the insane error. The say they noted it and I will get a letter in about a week notifying me that they had been made aware of the error. A month passed and I got nothing. I called in and asked again and was told that  a typo was noted, but that it had gone on to adjucation already. Then about a month later,  we get the letter from the local field office and I'm optimistic until I'm hit with the worst. They say that they have denied us because we abandoned the petition by not submitting the document...I was livid...and that is putting it lightly. I am scheduling to meet with an immigration attorney asap. I am baffled as to how they can choose to ignore the multiple corrections and just push it through anyhow. We started this Dec 2012...I really, really do not want to start over because of their error.  Anyone had this happen before or anything similar?
