USCIS Service CentersElectronic Notification
Hello All,

Question, I filled out the paperwork for the electronic notification and submitted it with our packet, but we never received an email or a text about our paperwork. Is that usual?

Our NOA 1 was April 13th.

Thanks!

USCIS Service CentersWrote the check to "USCIS" - not Dept. of Homeland Security!

Dear Vjers,
Do you read every reply to the thread prior to posting your comments? How many threads have I read where the answer (or advice) was giving correctly within the first several replies, but then there are 2 pages of nonsense arguing about incorrect answers. Here again is another case in point. JimVaPhuong is one of the most reliable sources of information on VJ. He doesn't randomly come up with an opinion. If he states something, you can give it a fair amount of credence. In post #3

Posted Image I've read it before myself....

It is the discussion. Just because an answer is given (that you think is correct) doesn't mean it can't be discussed further and debated. Most people are bored and waiting for their approvals. Let them have fun. I enjoy reading all the comments to hear different views.

Also, my 2 cents, USCIS is a Dept within the DHS, so the DHS should have authority to cash checks made out to the USCIS. With that being said, some other poster said he did the same and they sent back the whole packet, so I guess not.

USCIS Service CentersCSC has recently implemented new procedures for K1
In a way this is weird because last year when we got our K1 from CSC, everybody was complaining that CSC was too quick and that VSC was dragging their feet. The tables have turned.

Wow, I feel sorry for all you people still legally waiting while others can jump ahead for cheating the system. There are days I wish we crossed my wife illegally because it just seems like it is easier and more rewards for us. In the end though we are Christian and moral people and couldn't live with ourselves if we did that. I had visas while living in both Mexico & Peru. I respected their immigration laws.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaTimeline Questions

Once you get the NOA2, it will be sent to the NVC and then onto Juarez.

You can call the NVC to see if it has arrived in Juarez. You need to get your CDJ case #, invoice # and beneficiary ID # from the NVC before you can fill out the DS-260: 603-334-0700

Juarez will send a letter. The letter you receive points you to the sites where the instructions, forms and place to schedule your appointment and interview is. The letter is the only 'packet' you will receive. You should go to the links listed in the letter. The letter will be needed by the K-1 applicant at their ASC, medical and interview in Juarez, along with the confirmation page from the DS-260.

Here are the forms: http://ciudadjuarez....ianceforms.html , instructions (very important to follow and they explain a lot): http://photos.state....acketk10412.pdf , and CDJ info: http://www.visajourn...xico&cty=Juarez

The ASC and interview must be scheduled, but the medical is still open and you just show up the morning that is best for you. I doubt you will be in and out of Juarez in 2 days. You could possibly manage only 3 days, if you set it up for DHL to mail your visa and sealed envelope to the city where you live instead of waiting in Juarez to pick it up. You can read the reviews from CDJ to see how other people arranged their schedules in Juarez and it went for them: http://www.visajourn...age=1&dfilter=5

they don't give the visa same day? we got ours the same day before... Realistically how long will we be there then?

Ok, we filed and got NOA1, I know what happens at NOA2... but what about when it gets to the Consulates office? What happens next?

We are in Tijuana. The consulates office we would have to go to is in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. How does it work with the medical? Will we just show up and do the medical there and then the interview? It is too far away for me to be able to afford two trips. Like how does this work exactly?

In 2003 when I was approved with my first marriage... she NEVER got anything in the mail... but I did. We called a 900# in mexico, made an appointment and went to Juarez, did the medical one day and the appointment the next day. Later that evening we were in El Paso. Is it the same procedure? Will she have forms to fill out prior to going to Ciudad Juarez now? Does she have to mail them forms? Please give details for Juarez because the step by step guide confused me.

Thanks!

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaFinal I-129F Question - Packet 3
Ok, we got all the paperwork we think we need. The police certificate FINALLY arrived from Peru today.

We called the consulate office and they said they mailed out the Packet 3 like 2 weeks ago from Juarez. It's never arrived as of yet. They told us to go ahead and make the appointment.

Are all packet 3's the same? There won't be anything different on hers since she is Peruvian living in Mexico? If that's the case we have everything and we can go ahead and make the appointment, but I wanted to find out if EVERYBODY gets the same Packet 3 or if they are customized meaning it could say she needs a document we don't have all ready? The Consulates customer service pretty much told us to view it online and to make the appointment telling us that it should be here any day as it can take up to 3 weeks for delivery.

What say you guys? Thanks!

not to get off topic, but can somebody please verify something for me...

I seen in the letter for Cd. Juarez that it says you have to pay $350.00... is that in ADDITION to the $340 you are paying up front when you file the i129f so a total of $690?

also approximately how much do we need for vaccinations in Cd. Juarez, my fiancee has all the shots, but no proof so I guess she will have to pay for it all again.

Thanks!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPolice Certificate, Mexico & Peru - K1 Visa

The guide doesn't need to be updated because this is a consulate-specific practice, as you've just seen. What you're quoting from the guides above has to do with IMBRA guides for the K-1. These are two separate issues in two different steps of the process (namely, the I-129F filing with USCIS and then the visa application with the Consulate of choice). The consulate-level requirements change often as well, which is why you may not have needed a police certificate in 2003 but need one 2012.

I wish you luck in figuring it all out. You can still get married, even if you can't migrate to the US yet.

Actually you still don't need one in 2012 if you are Mexican and in Mexico. It is throwing me off a little bit the Peruvian part. So we figured it out. We have to push our estimated plans back.

She has to take an overnight flight to Guadalajara. She arrives and goes to the Consulates office where she has an appointment set for Tuesday at 9 AM. She can file to get a power of attorney letter to give to her sister. She flies back to Tijuana that night. We overnight the papers to Peru for $80 with her DNI, passport photos and all and the estimated cash needed.... but in Peru when using the power of attorney for these types of things, it gets pretty tricky, many things are needed and not guaranteed to be completed successfully. Total cost: $700 approximately

Total cost to fly to Peru and do it herself? $1,200. Either way it is ridiculous. Why do they have to be like this to get what should be simple public documents available upon request?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPolice Certificate, Mexico & Peru - K1 Visa
Apparently PERU won't give it out with a power of attorney or being in Person.

We aren't going to get married it looks like. It is impossible for us to get. It's like $1,200 round trip from Mexico to Peru.

You have stated that the interview will be in CDJ, so what Lima requires does not apply to your case.

Thank you. So she just needs police certificate from Lima, not the other documents and one from Mexico.... This will be fun.

Thank you.

David

According to Packet 3 on Ciudad Juarez's website, it says: "Police certificates are also required from all
other countries where the applicant has resided for at least one year, except for Mexico."

So she only needs Peru.
dstrausser83MalePeru2012-08-15 23:59:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPolice Certificate, Mexico & Peru - K1 Visa
I just posted the link above that states that police certificates aren't required from Peru, but penal and imprisonment records are required.... So are they the records I have to bring with me to Mexico?

Also, shouldn't somebody update the Visa Journey K-1 Visa guide so that people know they will need police certificates regardless of being arrested or not so that people like me can be better prepared? As of right now it only states: "In regards to Section C Question 2, if applicable provide certified copies of all court and police records showing the charges and dispositions for any specified conviction(s) (in accordance with the IMBRA). See section 9 of the I-129f instructions for more information."

Also reading the instructions, it also says the same thing, that its not needed because she has no criminal record. 9 years ago, February of 2003, I did my first i129F with my ex-wife. No police certificate was asked for... That's why this is shockingly new to me.

I'm not attempting to debate what you are saying, just looking for full understanding.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPolice Certificate, Mexico & Peru - K1 Visa
Ok guys, I am totally confused now, after seeing another thread on Police Certificates...

Is a police certificate needed for Mexico? She is Peruvian. I am also mixed if she needs one from Peru as I didn't understand the explanation on the website. According to the K1 guide here: http://www.visajourn...content/k1guide it said only get one if she was arrested. According to http://travel.state..../info_3195.html she does need one.

So what is it? Also it didn't say she needed one on the application.

To be clear, she is PERUVIAN... but we live in MEXICO (2 years) and will be handled at the Ciudad Juarez Consulate?

So what do we do? What do we need?

Thanks!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS260 Quick Question
The question asking if she has ever been denied a visa for entry, should she put yes? She applied and wasn't given a visa, but was given a list of things she needed to provide, proof her mom owned the house, proof she lived there, etc. She never went back with the correct documents because we just decided Mexico instead of the hassle. So she wasn't approved, but she really wasn't denied. So what should I answer?

Also the the fiancee visa, I only have to do the DS260, not the DS160, right?

ALSO... it asks:

Petition is my: There is nothing that says fiancee. Only spouse. Is that what we select?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionJuarez - Support (I-134/I-864) Conflicting Info

You only need the most recent tax transcript. You want the tax return transcript, not the account one. But, like you said, they are free and you can just keep the account ones for your own records. Also, if you are not using assets to make for a shortcoming in your income, no need for a letter from the bank or bank statements. If you need to prove you have savings or certain income deposits, bank statements will do it.

They will go by your current income, not the past years. Take a letter from your employer and most recent pay stubs to prove your current income. List your current income as what you make hourly multiplied by how many hours you work per week, then multiply that by 52 weeks to get your current annual income. Taking the extra pay stubs from your previous job won't hurt either.

If you are self-employed, they will go by line 22 of your most recent 1040.

Awesome Jay-Kay.....

When you say tax return transcript, are you talking about the 1040? I have a copy of that I can just print out. I did convince the bank to give me a letter saying that I have had an account open with for 18 months and for balance inquiries to view my statements. I don't get paid hourly. I get paid on an annual salary plus bonus. They wrote me a letter only including the base salary, but well enough to cover what I need.

So this is what I will bring:

1. Employment Letter
2. Letter from Bank verifying I have an account
3. 10 months of bank statements (do I really need 12?, I think its overkill. I'm just printing this years statements).
4. Current pay stub, plus last pay stub from previous job (Sprint Store Manager).
5. I-134
6. 1040 for 2011

That's it. So can you confidently say I am covered?

My appointment is in mid October. Wells Fargo should be able to something similar. Ask to speak to a manager. Explain how important it is. The teller is trained to do the minimum. It shouldnt be that hard for them to do. It will take them more than 15 minutes which is why they dont want to do it.

I got an Oct. 11th date. & a no go with WF... just an account verification form from the local branch that is made out to the Consulate and signed by the manager. They said if the bank wants to know the totals that I should bring my statements and let them add it up. Doesn't make sense, you'd think they'd have that access at their fingertips.

Yes, it states the I-864 is not needed. And you are correct, it does not state the I-134 is needed. However, they do seem to expect it, so it is best to have it ready along with your other financial documents. It has been a couple years, but there was a case where someone did not take the I-134 and they did ask for it. The info on the VJ Juarez consulate section comes from the Juarez instructions and member's first hand experiences. Better safe than sorry.

Yea understood. Thanks. I just wanted to double & triple check. So lets see, what type of proof of income should I bring? I have an "Employment Certificate" from my boss, last 3 months pay stubs... 3 months worth of Checking & Savings account statement pages. Oh and I have the last pay stub from the job I held until April of this year, showing I earned $20k in the first 4 months of 2012. My current position from May - Current shows a grand total of $12,000 earned so far this year). Should I bring more?

Last years tax return (because I was on unemployment) is under the amount needed. I was on unemployment for like 10 months of the year. I would prefer not to bring that, although I did have $22,000 made, so I would only be about $1000 short. The year before that I think I earned $23,000 but lived in Peru for the first 6 months out of the year. Finally the year before that (2009) I made only $8,500 as I was in Peru living for pretty much the whole year, this was primarily left over commissions from 2008. 2008, 2007, 2006, I made an average of $76,000.

What do you think?
