K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNo Status Change
My fiance's status hasn't changed from "CASE IS OPEN" and READY. It said to check back in 2 business days. I did and still no change. What's the next message I should receive after this one? Why again no status change?

My fiance's status just changed to "CASE IS OPEN" and READY! We are assuming that is great news. That's what her friends told her.

That's true; it's indeed good news that she wasn't handed a 221G and her passport was not given back. And this means her case is being looked into.

You're right, the medical's expiration corresponds with the visa's, that is: visa is valid only for 6 months after the medical date.

I don't mean to rub it in, but honestly, US Embassy doesn't take note who undergoes medical considering the number of visa applicants. I don't think the embassy would bother calling every single applicant who doesn't have the initiative of having their visa scheduled in time. I, myself, had my medical 36 days after I had my medical. Not a single call, text, email that I should have my interview done soon. In fact, a valid appointment confirmation  is one of the basic requirements at the medical.

Maybe you can share here how the BIO/FP done paper print-out looks like?

I agree that they wouldn't call every single applicant. Like I mentioned before, the USEM told her to just mention his name when she got to the embassy. I know it sounds way out of protocol, but that's how it went down.

The USEM contacted her just a few days after she attended the required 3 hour seminar. She only has to return with her visa to get it stamped to show that she already attended the seminar.

As far as the BIO F/P paper, it was just in bold print, followed by the current date, just above the center of the page.

Honey, I'm not making it up. I wish I am, really. Just trying to help out by making you see the big picture. I'm not a pro here either. In fact, I just had my interview last week. Based from what I read in blogs and visajourney and from my experience. There's only one way of going inside the embassy (Ok, maybe this is just for K-1, like your fiancee's case and mine).

Entering the US Embassy is very straightforward: Show passport, DS-forms and appointment confirmation (The rest of the requirements are not yet asked for). They will then stick a pre-printed barcode sticker at the back of the applicant's passport. This unique barcode sticker includes the applicant's name and passport number. They don't print barcode sticker on the spot for walk-ins. Here's the clincher: if an applicant doesn't have a barcode sticker pre-printed for him/her, he/she can't go in.

There are no special cases and there's no other way going around it. Mind you, there are atleast 5 applicants who were denied entry because they don't have an appointment letter. One fiancee who was escorted by her disabled USC petitioner (as in, in a wheelchair), was asked to look for an internet cafe to have their appointment confirmation printed out.

If one spend enough time reading around visajourney, they will have enough information to the roundabouts of the USEM interview experience.

If you don't mind me asking, when did your fiancee had her medical?

Again, I thank you for replying. At the time of her interview she did hand them the (3) DS forms and her NBI. I'm not sure how I can make it much clearer that she did actually have an interview. As soon as I speak to her again, I will ask her about her passport and bar-code sticker. I'm pretty sure the embassy already had her passport. The good news is, they didn't hand it back to her and didn't issue her a 221(G) form.

Her medical exam was on or about August 27th. If memory serves me right, that is when the expiration date of her medical is counted from.

Probably it is the reason why she wasn't in the system for interview. But the best is just trying to reach embassy and tell them the proof that she's already did her interview. Good luck

"Probably it is the reason why she wasn't in the system for interview":

That is what we are thinking also. Unfortunately, her paperwork may be sitting on someones desk. I have tried to call and email the embassy in regards to this. I did speak with someone at the embassy recently and told her about the "bond paper" they handed my fiance after the interview. She said that she will make a note of it. I hope that was sincere.

If we don't hear something this coming week, I will give them the name of the USEM that spoke to her. Maybe that could get the ball rolling.

Thank you for taking the time to read and reply to our situation

I'm sorry ... But I don't think there is even a remote possibility that a K-1 interview is scheduled by the USEM making a call to the applicant.

And nope again, nobody can enter the embassy without a print-out of their interview schedule. Dropping names is never any embassy's protocol. I think you might consider calling USEM regarding her case.

Is there any valid reason why she couldn't schedule an interview after she had her medical?

First off, I'm not sure where you attained your facts about embassy protocol. It's my belief that you are only assuming the statements that you made. I have called and email the embassy in regards to this.

As far as entering the embassy, she was able to enter the embassy by just mentioning the USEM by name, in which I was quite amazed, being security levels you would think would be at a high. I guess you can assume that an embassy would have a protocol, but with the diversified applicants and cases, it would be hard to believe that there such regiment protocol throughout.

As I mentioned above, my fiance was handed a bond paper by the consular with the words "Bio F/P DONE, September 26,2013. I know this, because I have seen the paper. I know you don't know her, but I can tell you that in no way is she making up a story about attending the interview. Besides, there are too many details to the interview that she just couldn't make up. I will not mention the name of the person that called her from the USEM, since it's really immaterial.

Answer to your last question:

The USEM told her it was best for her to appear for the interview as he instructed her, because of the quickly approaching medical deadline.

My fiance had her interview on September 26, 2013. Since then her status hasn't changed when we visit the CEAC site. It says "Ready" (blue letters), but in the first line of the first paragrarph it says,"Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section." She has already had her interview, why hasn't it changed? She wasn't handed a 221(g) form, but was handed a bond paper with "BIO F/P DONE September 26, 2013", printed on it. They told her to "go home and wait for the delivery of her passport." At no point did they say" Congratulations you will get your visa."

Is there something we should be worried about?

Can anyone tell me where we are in the process?

I thought you would like to know how my fiance's interview appointment came about without an actual scheduled appointment.
She received a call from the embassy in mid-September to appear for the interview as soon as she obtained a current NBI, which she had previously submitted an application for. She was told to also submit forms DS-156, DS-156K and DS-157 at that time also. She told the caller from the embassy that she didn't have time to schedule an appointment for an interview because her medical would be expiring on November 27th. To my best recollection the earliest appointment at that time was 10/16/13. Recognizing the soon approaching deadline, he then told her to just show up at the embassy and mention his name and they would interview her on the spot. So that's what she did.

You should call and find out.  It looks as if maybe it's just waiting at the bottom of a pile on someone's desk.  Did they tell her she was approved at the embassy?

Thank you Romm63. I have called several times with no avail. She received a call from the embassy in mid-September to appear for an interview as soon as she obtained a current NBI, and would submit forms DS-156, DS-156K and DS-157 at that time also. She told the caller from the embassy that she didn't have time to schedule an appointment for another interview, because her medical would be expiring on November 27th. Recognizing the soon approaching deadline, he then told her just show up at the embassy and mention his name and they would interview her on the spot. So that's what she did.

I read a similar post like this before. The guy checked his fiancee status and says ready for the interview though according to her she's already did it. After a few times checked the guy found out his fiancee never went there for the interview. But I am hoping it is not your situation and only some glitch on the website. I hope you can get an answer very soon.

Take a time read this post.

Thank you for taking time to answer my post. In my situation, my fiance did show up for her interview. Believe me,  I just know. The glitch is that it's probably still sitting on someone's desk. And yes, I did read that post from the Ukraine. He's old and she's young. Sounds like 90% of the K1 visas...lol In my case, we are almost the same age.

The first time i called, a few days after her interview, they had no record of her having her interview. They said they would make a note of it. I tried to call earlier this week and tonight and unfortunately, the automated phone service has a glitch in it now and it won't give you the option of choosing any of the menu items. So I emailed them at IVManilaReplies@state.gov. The autoreply said I should get an answer in 4- 7 days.

He never told her she was "approved" or congratulations". He just told her to go home and she will recieve her passport by courier. They did hand her a bond paper with "BIO F/P DONE September 26, 2013", printed on it.

Thank you Ronn63 for your response. It's gladly appreciated

I read your previous post. Seems like nothing is changed at all. Sorry to hear that. Have you tried to reach the embassy and asking about the consular officer who interviewed her?

I have called them several times and they still can't give me an answer. They tell me just to wait :( Her medical expires in 1 month, I don't know what to do now.

My fiance's interview was almost one month ago and still her K1 status says open. Getting a little nervous because her medical expires on November 27th. Which means she has to be in the US by that date. What can I do? Why isn't there a status change?
Thank you

I can't tell you how relieved we are that the status finally changed to issue. with her medical expiring this November 27th. The status AP was only for one day and then it went directly to issue. I sent many emails and made many phone calls to the embassy I like to think that's what helps push this through. let's not forget a lot of praying.its been a long two year process and it is finally coming to an end, but a whole new beginning for us.thank you everyone best wishes.I will be back soon.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNo Status Change; Medical Expires Soon :( I'M DESPERATE

another medical

I am afraid of that. There have been 3 medical exams already over the past year or so. The last and first one she passed. The second medical she failed the sputum and had to go to St. Lukes for 6 months of treatments. She had to take the second medical because her medical expired the first time because we were waiting for paperwork from a previous country she resided in. The last medical she passed following her visits to St. Lukes.

Her 2nd interview was September 26, 2013, everything went well. They didn't hand back her passport, nor hand her a 221(g) form.

Before they issue the visa they'll ask if they can travel by that date. but if they do not issue you your visa before that date, you'll have to submit another one then they'll issue you your visa.

Thank you for your reply. I will have to submit another what?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNo Status Change; Medical Expires Soon :( I'M DESPERATE

My fiance's interview was September 27, 2013. It was10/23/13 the last time there was an update, to which the status says READY, case is OPEN and October 23, 2013. The problem is that her medical expires 11/27/13. I have called and emailed the USCIS and USEM several times. All I get told is that her visa is still under processing.

Does anyone have any idea what may be going on? Even my lawyer hasn't been able to help me. Is there something he can accomplish that I can't?

PLEASE HELP
