My old routine: Obsessively check the USCIS website for updates (which was an utter waste of time, since my case still shows initial review, even though I have hard copy NOA2) and then commiserate on VJ.

My new routine: Obsessively call the NVC, (redial at least 50 times, finally get through, hold for 10-20 minutes, and then be told my case is still in AP. then commiserate on VJ.

I really hope all of you get your NOA2's soon, and then fly through NVC. Frankly, as bad as 139 days at CSC was, this is somehow worse. Why, becasue almost everyone else that was approved the week I was, is already at the embassy. There are less to commiserate with B-) Its also torturous because there is no 'when' could be any day...could be months from now. At least at the CSC we all had that not so magical 5 months. This is the worst form of limbo yet.

ok, end of whine. I see lots of touches for my fellow Junies hope you all get em soon, and avoid the dreaded NVC AP.

Gap1, you took the words out of my mouth. This is the hardest, most painful thing I've been through.

YES YES YES YES! and just when you think you're getting close they throw another curve...... I littorally will weep with relief when she has the Visa in her hand...I have done a lot of challenging things in my life (including a combat tour in Iraq) and this is by far the worst, and most stressful.

That sucks and I know it probably sound ridiculous coming from someone not in your situation, but try to remain calm. You have no idea how long it's going to take, it could be over tomorrow. I know for me, I always feel like I wasted my time freaking out about something that later turned out to be a non-issue. The watch pot never boils... which is advice probably no VJers take (even me).

I hear ya! its all I can do, good news it appears in 99% of the cases its only 30 days, and I am at 15 now...

Doesn't everybody go through administrative processing? That's what's they're doing when your file is there. I wouldn't get too worried at this point since you might only be there for a few more days. No point in worrying when you don't know all the facts.

Well not really, most people arrive at the NVC, and then are forwarded to the appropriate consular agency as soon as visa slots are available, for most, this is within a week. If you are put into AP, it means there are additional checks being done, this could be random selection for additional processing, or could be because of common names etc. I have read a lot on it here on VJ and it seems to be a pretty common occurance if the USC Petitioner has been married before, which I have. It seems most cases of AP at NVC are resolved within in 30 days, however there are horror stories of as long as 3 months. So while of course there is "processing" at the NVC, AP/AR is additional processing that adds time to the wait at NVC. Here is the VJ thread at VJ for those of us enduring AP/AR. http://www.visajourn...uck-nvc-for-ap/

Well Guys, after the initial elation of the NOA2, I have been waiting on the letter from the NVC so I can schedule an interview. Thought I would get it last week and didn't, so, I called the NVC today and was told our case was in AP...Addtional Processing. :crying: The operator could not tell me why, or when it would done. I'm devastated. I cant imagine what they need or want. I was Really hoping to get an interview scheduled for December, and they may be slipping. God, this is such a horrible torturous process.

Finally got through to the NVC. Took me two days of trying (was always busy). They have my case, (got my case number) Said everything looks good, and they will be forwarding it to the Embassy in Manila. Wow....such a difference in dealing with the NVC...a real person who really answered all my questions.

Hang tough guys, it gets a lot better. (I know you probably dont want to hear that AGAIN) but it really does.

Our online case status still says "initial review". I beg to differ, since we have the hard copy of the approval in hand. Don't put too much faith in the online status thing.... you could get a very nice surprise one of these days, as we did.

I dont. But I do note that yours was at least touched prior to them mailing your NOA2. At this point, even a touch would be something. Now if they mail the NOA2 without a touch thats fine too.. :)
idaho_and_surigaoMalePhilippines2010-10-27 14:35:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJune CSC

But that's my point, the online system doesn't always get updated.

Nobody hopes you are right more then I do. I hope all 30 I129F's on the USCIS site filed between 6/1 and 6/8 that have not been updated are all in the mail.
idaho_and_surigaoMalePhilippines2010-10-27 13:07:00

Now, now, let's not jump to conclusions. Some people on this thread never saw their status change by the time their NOA2 came in the mail. And don't forget, VJ members are only a small percentage of USCIS' workload.

I'm hopeful you'll all have your NOA2s very soon.

very true, but in looking at the USCIS site, the case numbers that were posted earlier...nothing approved yet this week. Maybe today.

Well, they updated the processing times, as of October 14th, and it still says 5 months. But guess what, they added a line that says AS OF AUGUST 31st, 2010. so I guess that gives them an out.....

The thing that irritates me is that if you go look at the K1 Historical Trends chart and select stats from "all time," (of this website), you'll see the average wait time between NOA1 and NOA2 is 98 days. I know it's not 100% accurate since not everybody comes back to update their timeline, but it's at least got to be somewhat accurate.

Yesterday was 98 days for me and tomorrow will be 100. It makes total sense that it's taking so %@^#ing long because I quit my job to move closer to A while we waited....not assuming it was going to take this long just to get the stupid NOA2. Of course that was the risk I took, but jeez.

Although I want everyone here to get their NOA2, for those of you who are near the 5 month mark, please do all the b!tching you can for us to USCIS when you can. Find out if you can what the H-E-double hockey sticks is going on.

Rest assured, I will be like a bulldog that wont let go November 8th.

Well this Friday they will be posting their updated processing times (they update it every month on the 15th) I am curious to see if the dirty bastards at the CSC have the nerve to still say five months.....
idaho_and_surigaoMalePhilippines2010-10-11 23:17:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJune CSC

Has anyone ever tried sending a letter directly to the CSC for a status inquiry? I'm guessing it would get ignored. But I'm also hopeful that there might be some response if I sent a professionally written (without showing any anger) letter asking what is going on or maybe give them a suggestion about how they can better serve us as customers and US citizens by giving status updates or letting us know where we are at in the queue. Maybe I could remind them of some things off their mission statement or core values statement (http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD)... again in a non-hostile way (as hard as that would be).
Then I thought what if we got organized here on VJ and got all the May and June (and maybe July) filers to send a letter the same week. Granted us VJ members are just a small sample of the people who have file, I still think it would get their attention if they suddenly got 100+ letters of inquiry. I just don't know if it would slow them down or amount to anything good.
Curious to know what everyone else thinks.

It would go right into the circular bin. My guess is it would never be touched by anyone outside of the mail room. A different strategy (and one I am going to do) is to write a letter to the director of the USCIS, All your congressional reps, The USCIS Ombudsman, and The first lady. This is my plan for November 8th....(my five month mark) As bad as it is, I dont think we have much ground to stand on if they are under their SLA of five months.

Another newbie and May 31 filer... NOA received June 10 and no touches since June 17. Waiting anxiously to see some movement from the CSC. Actually feeling a lot better reading this forum and knowing we're not the only ones waiting... misery loves company eh? Good luck everybody.

Ok..clearly I'm new...just saw all the posts from yesterday and the day before....I feel so much better knowing that it isn't just us waiting! It's so much better to have at least this information! Even if it means more waiting!

Welcome aboard. Yes, the CSC is on some sort of hiatus with approving I129f's. For the most part if you filed after 15 May...you are still waiting. There have been some sporadic approvals of late May Filers, but very few. And even less June Filers. We are all pretty much in riot mode around here. I am at exactly 4 months post NOA1 tomorrow. At this point, I'm just looking forward to when I can call and inquire, call my congressional reps, etc.

Good luck in your journey.

Yeah, I have no idea where he came up with that particular number, but it definitely wasn't the kind of number I was hoping to hear. :(

on the one hand I want to chock it up to how pathetic the Call Center folks are....have heard so many stories of them just tell people random/mis-information. On the other hand, im scared to death the guy was actually telling the truth...Clearly nothing is getting done at CSC.... :(

(Copying this response from the 'any updates on CSC?' thread)

A little bit of discouraging news I got from the call center today regarding CSC:

I called and spoke to a representative named Christian. At first he didn't give me any more information than I could get from checking status updates online, and he was clearly just reading standard answers to me from his computer screen. I explained the situation and tried to press him for a little bit more information. He then told me that CSC was currently working on cases dated April 16th. I believe someone else here on VJ had called and got the exact information and posted it here about 1-2 weeks ago, which if that information is correct it means they basically haven't progressed *at all* in the last couple of weeks. He also said to expect a wait of at least another 42 days! I don't know if he meant that our case wouldn't be looked at for another 42 days or not to expect an approval for another 42 days...I should have asked but at that moment I was nearly in tears.

My gawd this is killing me. Our NOA1 was dated May 27th. I know we all need to wait our turn and it will happen when it happens, but :crying:

sounds realistic, but 42 days would put them over five months. Also, it appears that most of the April CSC folks are already approved. And, there have been a quite a few May filers (early May) filers approved. So Im skeptical about the April 16th answer.

In any Case, that is not good news....not sure I believe everything he told you....BUT, CSC is obviously not doing anything.
