National Visa Center (Dept of State)Police certificate
In the LingChe_NVC_ShortCut guide there is a aprt dedictaed to the police certificate:
Police Certificate based on country: Use this link, [5] select country, and scroll down to Police Certificate section
NOTE1: Police Certificate is required for any place in their country of citizenship; the beneficiary has lived longer than six (6) months, after age of 16.
NOTE2: Police Certificate is required for any places which beneficiary has lived longer than twelve (12) months in any other country other than country of citizenship, after age of 16.
PCC can take a long time to receive, so request it earlier rather than later (for some countries, such as India, your PCC may need to be within 6 months, for most within 1 year)

Is this certificate mandatory? Anyone experinced from Italy?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Tax Returns vs Transcripts & Proving Income
We just got our I-130 approved and are now working on next steps. I was reading the Visa Journey guide and it noted that the petitioner should supply at least one year's worth of tax returns (3 years is best). Can I supply my actual tax returns (with all W-2's attached, etc) or in your opinion, is it better to request transcripts of this information from the IRS (to avoid any delays in processing)?

Also, I am the petitioner and I quit my job and am with my husband in Europe so we wouldn't have to be apart during this process. My father will be a co-sponsor so we should easily be able to meet the income requirements. Does anyone think it presents a problem if I am not currently working in the U.S. while this process is ongoing? I haven't worked since 11/25/08 in order to be with my husband so I cannot provide 6 months worth of pay stubs.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)DS-3032 Form - who should be the agent?
Actually it's the DS-3032 that seems to be outdated. The form posted on this site and on the official site for the NVC notes an expiration of 12/31/2006- is that the most recent form?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)DS-3032 Form - who should be the agent?
Our I-130 has been approved and now we are getting ready for the next steps. From what I understand, for forms, my husband will need to complete the DS-3032 (choice of agent) form and DS-230. I was reading through the guide posted on Visa Journey (which is great) and it states that usually the alien notes the petitioner as the choice of agent. But I am with him in Europe (we couldn't stand to be apart during this process) and currently our mail is going to my tenant in Florida who scans the mail and emails it to us. But we will only be able to send mail to that address until July. We did not hire a lawyer for this process nor do we plan to.

Should we note my father as his choice of agent and have all mail sent to him? My father resides in the U.S. and will also be our co-sponsor in this process. OR, can we have mail sent to my husband, at his address in Italy? The form seems to offer the choice of the alien receiving any notifications to the address he chooses, in the country he chooses. helpsmilie.gif

Also, according to the form on the guide, it looks like the DS-230 form expired on 12/31/2006 - does anyone know where we can get an updated form or is this form still good?

We need some clarification on some questions on the DS 230

Question #23 - List below all educational institution attended?
Is it enough the last one (university) or do we have to start from kindergarden?

Question #24 - Previous military service?
I did not serve in the military because i was outnumbered. Should i put not NO?

Question #25. List dates of all previous visits to or residence in the United States. (If never, write "never") Give type of visa status, if known.
I lived in the US in 2005 under J1 visa and after that i have been in the US many times with tourist visa. Do I have to list all the times? I do not recvall all the times and it's difficult to read stamps in the passport.

Question #25. Give DHS "A" number if any.
What is DHS "A" ?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Co-sponsor question on I-864
I am the petitioner and currently unemployed (as I quit my job to be with my husband in Italy). I have assets from my ROTH IRAS and 401K which total $57K...will that suffice as income (as I can't touch it until I am 65) or is it still a good idea to have my father as a co-sponsor?

My husand is working on the DS-230 and I am working on the I-864. I have a residence in the U.S. but I am currently living with him in Italy while he works so we don't have to be apart during this process. I put my address in Florida as my mailing address but for my place of residence, should I put our address in Italy? As for proof that my domicile is in the U.S., will my 2008 tax return and bank statement suffice as proof of domicile in the U.S.?

Did you receive AOS package? Otherwise, it is OK. Just make sure that you will get AOS package from NVC as it has IIN, which will allow paying bills online.
You need AOS bar coded coversheet with I-864 form and DS-230 bar coded coversheet with DS-230 form.

Thanks for the reply but my question is: will a bank statement and tax return suffice for proof my domicile is in the U.S. if I am currently residing in Italy with my husband?

For domicile, it is OK. But I think I missed the one point related to I-864, i.e., your current employment and Original employment letter that you need to submit with I-864.

Actually, unless Italy is incredibly lax regarding domicile - that won't suffice.

criandjen - The OP was not asking about pay stubs and a letter of employment - in fact they are living in Italy so that would not be useful.

You mention you have a residence in the U.S. - what type is it - do you own a home? Are you going to be living with someone else? If you own, provide a document that proves ownership - so they can see you have a physical place to live. If you are going to be living with someone - have them write a letter stating you will be living with them and that you have agreed on a rental amount.

Do you have a U.S. driver's license - that is also helpful. The bank statement is also a good idea. Can you do a moving quote online and submit that as well? Also write a note stating that you intend to reestablish domicile in the U.S. no later than the intending immigrant.

What you are trying to prove at this point is that you are planning to reestablish domicile - anything that says - hey we are moving - is good proof.

Thanks Trailmix....one more question for you or anyone else with experience in this. On the I-864, I am going to put my mailing address as Miami Beach and my residence (as that is where we have been living since January) as Italy. The problem is, my home in Miami is currently under foreclosure and either by the time this application is processed (or shortly after) the home will be owned by the bank. For the residence we plan to live in once the application is approved, should we put my dad's address which is also in Florida? And will the fact that my home is in foreclosure affect our application? My dad will co-sponsor and he has a good income and many assets.

If you think my dad's address is better for the address where we plan to live (that Cris will put on the DS-230)...should I change my address NOW to my dad's address in Florida, BEFORE I submit the I-864? I saw a warning in WIKI about not changing your address at the same time you are completing your I-864...HELP? wacko.gif

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Questions on how to fill out the I-864
Okay I finished filling out the I-864 and I just want to double check a few things to make sure we don't get an RFE.

Part 3, question 8. Myself and my dad are sponsoring my husband (no kids); so, do I check off "X" next to: "I am sponsoring the principal immigrant named in Part 2 above" and underneath there is a box marked "yes" and "no". It says after "no" that (only applicable in cases with 2 joint sponsors)....so I check "NO" here, right, since my dad is the joint sponsor? wacko.gif

21. Also, for household size, it asks you to count yourself as 1, the immigrant as 1 but then it asks you if you are married...I'm married to the immigrant so if I check that box too, that makes "3" in the household but it's just him and I so it's 2....what do I put next to c - nothing?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)March Approvals - Delays @ NVC
If you email the NVC (NVCINQUIRY@state.gov) and let them know you have not received your invoice yet, you can ask for invoice identification number. Once you have that, you can pay the bill for the DS-230 and I-864 online at: Go to www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov and click the "Fee Collection" link, then click the "Online Payment" link, and follow the instructions displayed. After a few days, you can continue to check the website and as soon as the payment is shown as "processed", then you can print out the cover letter for the DS-230 and I-864 and send in your final applications.

My husband and I have not received anything by mail...we have done it all so far by emailing the NVC directly. Email them everyday until you get an answer. You are supposed to receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of sending the email but we never got one so we just kept emailing until we got our invoice ID number.

People, this is more informative, ok?
Today was my interview and i was worry because i didn´t had the original of my fiance divorce certificate.
They didn´t even asked for any original documents from his side (just to be clear, i had to show MY originals since i´m the beneficiary) ...i had it all, the only thing that was missing was the blessed divorce certificate...not even a notarized copy i had...
That doesn´t mean that the CO won´t ask for it, or maybe i was just lucky.
So the tip is: if u don´t have a particular original document from your fiance side, DON´T EVEN mention to the CO...he probably won´t ask anyway...

Good luck for all...

Thanks for sharing! I know you said you didn't need to bring your sponsor's paperwork but if in the checklist they ask you to bring "financial evidence" - are they referring to the tax returns the sponsor submitted originally to prove the beneficiary would be financially okay?
