VietnamMistake in the original I-129F form
After I found out about my mistake, I wrote a letter explaining the mistake + a corrected I-129F form + some evidence to back up my statement. I mailed them to the CSC office, and three weeks later, I got back everything I sent with a general inquiry response letter telling me how to go online to check my case status, etc. I was confused on what happened, so I called them up and they told me that I shouldn't include an I-129F form in my correction letter. So I removed that form that mailed everything back again. It has been more than 3 weeks now and no letter back, so hopefully they accept it this time. I really hope it won't get delayed by a month or two because of my silly mistake.

I called them earlier today, and they said I can mail in a letter with the corrected information. I will try that and to see if it helps. I have no one to blame but myself for not reviewing my information carefully before submitting :(

VietnamMistake in the original I-129F form
Hi all,

I just discovered that I have made a mistake in the date I first met my fiancee. In section 18, I listed it as 10/7/2012 when it should be 10/7/2011. Is there anyway to correct this? Will I get an RFE about this?

Thanks in advance!

VietnamI-129 or I-130 ?

I filed an I-129F application last september, and now we are waiting for packet 4 to arrive. We haven't heard anything about them not approving k1 visa any more.

USCIS Service CentersNo luck looking for help

I have contacted my Senator's office and two lawyers for help. No luck. Here are obstacles they present:

#1. "CSC is doing fine, there is nothing wrong." How to respond. You can't say there are a bunch of people complaining on the internet. This response does not fly and makes you look inept. All I have been able to find are statistics from USCIS through January. Their stats show approvals dropped to the lowest level in the last two years, about 400 per month. Plus, comparing the completions to receipts show a shortage of about 1000 per month. However, some months the CSC completes almost 4000 I-129s in one month. So, they conceivabley catch up in 1 month. Which makes our complaint very weak. The problem is we do not know what happened in February or March.

#2- You can't in line, it wouldn't fair. This is what the Senator's person told me and one lawfirm. So, how to respond to this??

#3- You can't even complain unless you are beyond the normal processing time. I know the July 18 date has been stated for a month or two. Does anybody know how long this has been their position? I can't beleive they are allowed to leave this date in place for more then one month.

Here is what I thought was a good question for the senator's office. If she won't help me now ( I am at 6 months), at what point would she be willing to intervene? 7 months, 8 months etc. She didn't answer this question. I have decided to follow up in writing with her on this point.

Anyway, I don't know if this post is clear or inchorent. I am pretty wiped out tonight. But, at least I have tired. And, now you know what to watch out for if you do get somebody on the phone.

I spoke with a guy from my Congressman's office, a representative at a local USCIS office, and several tier 1 representatives. They are all completely and utterly useless. If they are not willing to help you, then no matter what you say, they will just give you stupid excuse. You can't reason with them, just like you can't reason with a kid who haven't done his homework and is trying to make up silly excuses for his irresponsibility.

There is a popular VJ thread about emailing the CSC director: http://www.visajourn.../page__st__120. I encourage you to join the effort. It may help, or it may not. But it is probably more effective than asking some useless person for help.

USCIS Service CentersI Cannot Believe It!!
I used an infopass to go to my local USCIS office in San Jose a few weeks ago. I waited for about half an hour, and finally had a chance to speak to a lady there. I asked her why CSC is taking so long to process, and I showed her the stats and timeline published from USCIS, but she wouldn't even listen to me. She said that CSC is working on things that are not published on the web. I asked her what they have been working on, and she said she does not know. There is one useful thing that she said that day - she has access to as much information as I do, and she can only do as much as what I can do. That almost made me cry that day. I felt so desperate because I realized that these people from the local offices and tier 1 representatives are basically hired to help those people who don't know how to use the internet. They are completely useless, and they can't help anyone. They operate like machines, and helping people is not part of the program. It is really depressing to think that our life and future are dependent on these people.

USCIS Service Centersnew letter-writing campaign to Ombudsman?
I wrote to the Ombudsman on Friday evening but haven't received a response either. The last two times I wrote to them at night, they responded to me early in the morning, but this time I haven't heard anything back from them yet. It is possible that they are actually contacting CSC to sort out the situation, or maybe they are just ignoring me because I have been complaining too much :(

USCIS Service CentersCSC way behind national goal. Please don't slow down now....

Hi, I am a September 17 filer. My NOA2 came two weeks ago, during the sudden acceleration of processing in CSC. You can check the Igor's List to see some better stats: http://www.visajourn...ilers.php?cfl=. Up until last month, there was about one NOA2 on VJ every 2 to 3 days, and <5% of petitions during and after August were processed. Then we had a campaign to email/send letter the Ombudsman and the CSC director. Not sure if it worked, but they suddenly picked up the pace, and we saw about 10-20 VJ members getting approved everyday, driving the stats up to what it is now (I was one of those people who got approved during this time). If you checked the past history, two days of work during the acceleration period processed more petitions than they did from November to March. It has slowed down recently though, probably because they are getting less pressure now since most of us who have waited 5+ months stopped complaining.

The next time CSC posts it current processing time, it wil be stats as of the end of March, which will probably put the processing date at July 18th again. The one that will be posted in June will look more optimistic. You can try contacting your local representative or Senator for help (mine definitely didn't help me, but it doesn't hurt to try). If enough people put pressure on them, they will probably prioritize it again. If they really put their effort into it, it will take them less than a week to process the remaining petitions in November and December.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI made a program to cope with my anxiety

I'd be very careful about doing this (the different proxies). It would look like a DOS attack (or at least as a test of a DOS attack) and next thing you know, the feds could be knocking at your door....

Given how incompetent they have proven to be, I doubt they actually know how to prevent DOS attack, or know how to track down the attacker. But I agree that we should not be sending them huge amount of web traffics. If we bring down their website, it would cause inconvenience to many people, and they may use that as an excuse to not work on any petition for months.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI made a program to cope with my anxiety
I did something similar a few months ago. I made about 50,000 requests before they blacklisted my IP due to unusual high number of attempts within a short period of time. I don't know the exact quota or exactly how they calculate it. If you really want, you can try using some proxies to increase the number of requests that you can make, or try spacing out your requests, etc. But I think it is illegal, so I gave up.

Thanks for the information!! I think Vietnam requires it too. Do you know if I can get it notarized in the U.S. (maybe at the City Hall or Clerk's office?), or do I need to go to the U.S. embassy in Vietnam? (I just came back from Vietnam a week ago and can't go back soon...)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of single status?
Hi, I am a September K1 filer. I am still waiting for NOA2 from CSC, but I thought I should start getting some documents ready. I read from some old posts that some people need an Affidavit of Single Status, but it is not mentioned in the K1 visa guide, so it is not clear to me whether it is needed for my case (I-129F K1 application, Vietnam). So my question is, do I need it? If so, where/how do I get one? (I read that I can type it up and get it notarized at the City Hall, but I don't know what to write without seeing a sample one...)

Thanks in advance!

CanadaMontreal interviews in August?

For me, a late October date would actually be a lot better than a Sept. date. By late October, my baby might be 4 weeks old and we could probably manage to get there. In Sept., I'll be too pregnant to travel. But, w/ a "case complete date" of May 12, I figure I probably will get a Sept. date.

If you get Oct. and I get Sept., we should trade! If only such a thing were possible...

Good luck!!!

C.

Thanks for the reply, C.

And Good Luck!! I really wish you all the best with everything . . . hope the the timing works out for you.

Is your husband planning on attending the interview with you? I think it is better to have the spouse there, but my husband doesn't think it is necessary . . . but I think it would look better . . . as proof of relationship . . . :(

CanadaIR1 / CR1 - Montreal Timeline to Interview

Had my CR1 interview in Montreal on Thursday, October 28. Visa was approved. But I am still waiting for my visa to show up!! It's already three business days since my interview. Meanwhile, everything is packed, and I am sitting here with all my boxes, and the movers are waiting to be given the go ahead to come pick up my things. But I have no idea when the visa would arrive. It is already three business days!! DHL can't tell me anything because I was never given a waybill or tracking number. Calling that CSC line was useless. They said keep checking the website, and I said, I was told the website takes a few days to update and usually people get the call from DHL even BEFORE they see the website update that their visa has arrived and is ready for pickup. This is TERRIBLE!!!! :bonk:

OK, just got my visa. DHL had it for three hours before they had time to call me. Yay!!!

Ugh! That's so frustrating! Is it too much to ask that, after putting us through everything we've been through that the system at least *work*?

I will say that for me phoning did work fine, but I did select option 1. Also, I think I actually called the 604 number. It was clear to the operator that the consulate in question was Montreal, but I at least think that we're allowed to call the number that's local for us to avoid incurring long-distance charges. I may be suffering form pregnancy brain here, but I am pretty sure I called 604. And I *know* my confirmation email specifies that my appointment is in Montreal (and it give the Mtl consulate address we all know, etc.)

C.

Hey, thanks, C . . . I did try the 604 number as well . . . same thing. Line went dead . . .
I just wanted to check to confirm that they got my DHL registration which I did online correct. Anyway, I can always try again later in the week.

Option 4 is just not working right now . . . take care. :)

I never came across exactly the same security warnings you got. However, I did get a notice about the site's security certificate. It did make me a little nervous. I would recommend that you all *call* and do your rescheduling or dhl registration over the phone. That's an option, and the operators are nice.

I sure do hope there's nothing malicious going on in connection with the site...but at best it's glitchy. So, CALL. Deal with the phone operators.

Just to clarify: I don't mean call NVC or DoS; I mean call the operators who work for this new system. I gave the link to the numbers yesterday.

C.

Hi C:

I am glad you had no trouble getting through to an operator at the 514 number. I tried calling this morning, had to listen to the long recording, then selected option 4 (for visa information and to schedule an appointment) . . . after selecting that option, the line went dead (disconnected) . . . this happened 6 separate times . . after selecting option 4, the line disconnected.

Note: I didn't want to select option 1 (to review or change an appointment I have scheduled through this service) because this required me to enter my passport number etc into the AVR system, and I didn't want to do that since I don't want to change my appointment. And neither did I schedule an appointment through this service . . . so, option 4 is the correct option.

Anyway, this attempt to talk to a live person has taken the past 30 minutes of my time, and to no avail . . . this is frustrating to say the least . . . and gives me no confidence in the system.

Thanks for suggesting that we call . . . it is a good idea. Maybe I can try again tomorrow.

Cheers,
Karen

I used the new CSC site to register my DHL location last night . . . with no problems at all.

But today, I tried a few times to login, using different computers, and even different browsers (Mozilla, Chrome) . . . because I keep getting a security warning!!

Something along the lines that: "You attempted to reach usvisa-info.com, but instead you actually reached a server identifying itself as www.usvisagroups.com. This may be caused by a misconfiguration on the server or by something more serious. An attacker on your network could be trying to get you to visit a fake (and potentially harmful) version of usvisa-info.com. You should not proceed."

Anyone else encountered this problem today??

Weird!

Im still confused as to whether we should still bring the envelope or go through the dhl site thingy. I mean we were scheduled the old way so I would think we would just continue with the usual way but now that there is the "new system" I am just not sure.

Hi Devon, from what I read, it seems that the ExpressPost envelope is no longer used. Instead, we are to register for the DHL location of our choice . . . in the NVC P4 letter we got, page 1, it does refer us to go to www.immigrantvisas.state.gov website and select the "Embassy/Consulate General-Specific Interview Guidelines" . . . anyway, I went to the CSC site, selected Courier Information, logged in, and registered for my DHL location.

Glad you are still doing the happy dance :)

Got news that jken (K1) got scheduled today - for an October 13th interview.

So, they scheduled shewolf and mtlgato (CR1) for October 8th, and now they are scheduling a K-1 for October 13 . . . perhaps this could mean that Montreal may have some spots left open for CR1/IR1's for the last two weeks of October . . . at least that's what I am hoping for.

Seems there is still hope anyway for those of us CR1/IR1's who completed just after shewolf and mtlgato did . . .

Honestly, if they don't speed up *significantly* soon, the backlog is just going to get so bad that it will be beyond ridiculous. It's ridiculous already.

Well, as of today, the "summer holidays" excuse is officially OVER.

C.

We were all so happy when shewolf and mtlgato were scheduled last Wednesday Sept 1st for their interviews in Montreal for October 8. I thought for sure we would hear of more interviews this week after Labor Day . . . but nothing so far . . . so very disappointing. I hope we will hear something next week, I really hope so . . . there's still three more weeks left in October after Oct 8 . . . surely they can slot some interviews in there for us during that time. It's already over 16 weeks since our completion dates . . . mine, Canadiandggal, CAN2US, Craig-n-Jacquie, Musi . . . how much longer are we supposed to wait?

I am still waiting for that elusive NVC email to pop up in my Inbox :)

Well, at least this theory helps me feel that it's not totally random who they bother to email and who they don't bother to email...

On another subject...
What are we all thinking re: the probability of a whole cluster of October interviews?

Who here thinks there will be a bunch of October interviews? Who thinks that, yet again, we'll get another month with no or very few interviews scheduled?

c.

Well, I am with my good friend Canadiandggal on this . . . LOL! I am hopeful that we will get a bunch of October interviews, but if we, the "May completes" don't hear anything by September 13-14, then it doesn't look too good for us that we would get an October date. Yeah, Devon, I agree, November would be rather ridiculous. November would be 6 months from our completion dates.

They have scheduled K-1's, then the DCF CR-1's, so I am hoping it would be our turn next . . . sometimes I feel like they have put us on the back burner or "forgotten" us . . . the whole bunch of us!! :bonk:

So, here's to hanging in there for another 2 weeks and hope for the best.

And when you get that email, let us all know ASAP . . . it would give the rest of us hope that things are finally moving for us CR-1's.

I've called them many, many times...and had the congresswoman and senator check on the case. They always confirm that I'm in line for an interview, etc. But I never did get that "case complete" email.

C.

I didn't get the email either. When I called the NVC, they said they don't send out an email when the case is completed. Maybe this is only for people who did electronic filing like zenaxe? I really don't know. All I know is that the AVR system says my case is complete, and all the NVC operators I have talked to over the past 2-3 months confirm (after looking at the screen) that my case is complete . . . and that "everything is set to go!"

Well, it has been 14 weeks since my case completed . . . hopefully all the "May" people will hear soon . . . perhaps the week after Labor Day? LOL! Ha ha . . . hope that would be so . . . we've waited far too long . . . :bonk:

Any suggestions and specially if someone tried this from INDIA ? have heard Indian consulates are not too helpful in this matter.
