Asia: South	Indians: Your Experiences with Tourist Visas to the U.S.?	Very easy to get a tourist visa, atleast in my case, got a 10 year B1/B2 stamp. Reason has to be valid, i got a invite letter to attend a wedding in USA and that was it.....moreover if you can get I-134 affidavit signed by the person in USA adds additional value to your application. Yes you are correct, we have this lenghty procedure of choosing the right name for months when we are babies Hoping to get more replies, i am sure there would be somebody who went through this ??? Asia: South	Birth Certificate	Hello guys, I have decided to get the Birth certificate translated to English and my question is how can i include my name. We in India dont normally have a name at birth and my birth certificate does not have my name either, it just has my parents name, the time and the hospital i was born in with a official seal. Now if i have to include my name in the new translated English certificate, how do i do it, all my official documents, like my India Security number, Passport, my certificates, bank accounts all have my current name. Has anybody done this before, need advice After translation who needs to attest the certificate, i am going to a advocate to get the certificate notarized, what else needs to get stamped on the certificate to show its genuine... I am sorry if i framed my sentences incorrectly..... : ) or it led to confusion @ Carla Yes....after much discussions between us we decided to take the K1 route and i am aware that she needs to file a I-29 petition for me with the bio-graphical form et all, she has already begun gathering the required documents and is in the process of filing the petition. This post was posted purely to understand what documents i need to submitt from India as i am the beneficiary. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	K1 Document Questions	Hello Everybody , Have been visiting websites to collect information on the list of documents that i need to produce once my K1 Visa interview is scheduled, the vfs (Visa Facilitation Services) website for my town listed the below documents for any immigrant visa that is applied on their website www.vfs-usa.co.in, though this is basically for work visa, i have gone ahead and put my comments as Required/Not Required against each document requirement, please confirm if i am correct...also let me know if there are any documents that are missed out in the below list.... 1 Passport: photocopy of the biopages of the current passport and a copy of the observation (Required) 2 page or previous U.S visa pages (Required) 3 Photograph* (Required) 4 Biographic Data Forms: DS230 Part I and II (Required) 5 Birth Certificate: original and photocopy* (Required) 6 Marriage Certificate: original and photocopy (Never been married Before) 7 Divorce Decree for all previous marriages: original and photocopy (Never been divorced ) 8 Death Certificate: original and photocopy (Not Required) 9 Proof of Relationship (Required) 10 Police Reports: original (Required) 11 Foreign Police Certificates: original (Not sure what this is) 12 Deportation Records (Not Required by me as i have not been deported before) 13 Prison Records (Never been in prison before) 14 Military Records (Never been in Military) 15 Affidavit of Support (I-864 with attachments): original (Will this apply to me) 16 Affidavit of Support (I-864A with attachments, if applicable): original (Will this apply to me) 17 Copy of Affidavit of Support (I-864 / I-864A) (F category only, for each family member) (Will this apply to me) 18 DS-156 (Required) 19 DS-156K (Required) 20 Affidavit of Support (I-134 with attachments): original (Required) 21 Job Offer letter from Employer in the United States: original (Not Required by me) 22 Medical Report* (Required) Few other questions that i had was 1 I have met her and her parents in USA in the month of June'08, not been officially engaged, will this be a problem as the consulate requires me to produce engagment photos, i have many other pictures taken with her parents and family together, will this proof of relationship suffice. 2 My address on my passport is my old address, when enquired the passport office says they will issue me a new passport with the old one, i need to carry both with me (is a address change on my passport really required) because it takes close to 20+ days for me to get the new passport. 3 Is there a format that i need to use to get the PCC (Police Clearance Certificate) from my local police station, the cops in my town are bribe hungry maniacs and i am sure they will end up giving me a invalid PCC. My appologies that my post is this long, get very less time from work and i have to sneak out to make time on Internet. Will keep this thread and post futures questions... K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Photos	Hello there, i am working on gathering proof of relationship (pictures, emails, boarding passes) etc and i have read that a minimum of 5 photos is required but its always better to send many if you wish too, it just makes your case stronger. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Birth Certificate	Hello everybody, I have a copy of my birth certificate and a medical receipt that was given to my parents at the time i was born. The guides on VJ says that i need to translate the certificate if its in regional language but my questions is, My certificate or form is itself in regional language but all the details like my parents name, the time i was born, the office seal and address of the hospital is all documented in english on the certificate, is it necessary for me to again translate the entire form because i assume it quite understandable. Its like this " when the form says "Name and sex in reigonal language" the documentation has been done like "Ravindran and Male in English" Secondly, in India we dont name the baby at the time of birth and we have a custom of having a naming ceremony after like 6 months or something so my certificate does not have my name on it but it does have my DOB, time i was born and my parents name. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Confusion in Name	Hello Everybody, My fiancee in US is filing for K1 petition and i have a question My name is Ravindran Arumugam but my passport says Ravindran Arumugham, if you notice it has a additional letter "h". A typo when they issued my passport.. When i sent my G325A form to my fiance i filled in the name as on passport but now i realized that all my other documents have my name as Ravindran Arumugam without the "h", will this be a issue because it is rarely noticable...how will this effect me in future if i have to apply for SSN, AOS, EAD etc etc......... Also my passport has my old address in it (also has a 10 year B1/B2 Visa stamp in it), is it really necessary for me to get a change of address on my passport, because here in Bangalore, India we are issued a complete new passport for either a name change or address change (one of the reasons i did not bother to change my name or address because it takes over a month for me to get a new passport). K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	RFE - Is it Good or Bad	Hello folks, i am back after a while to post our present situation here.. My fiance filed for I129F in September 2008 and got her NOA1 during the first week of October 2008. Now after 5 months we receive a email on March 02, 2009 from the USCIS Requesting for more Evidence, the last time i met her in USA was in the month of June'2008. I visited her again this February 2009 for Valentines and stayed with her for a period of 10 days, this time around we did not take any pictures together but i do have my Immigration stamp on my passport and Air Tickets. Do you guys think this would serve the purpose of evidence. Is USCIS asking for RFE's a bad thing or should we both be happy that atleast they are looking into our case and its not lying there unnoticed.My fiance also mentioned to me that the email spoke about I797 form. What have you guys sent as RFE in your case.. P.S - The email that i received did not have attachments of any sort but my Fiance did, she is the petitioner so i am assuming that she would get the actual package with instructions in it. I personally believe that at the POE they are more keen to know if you have visited before, your occupation, your qualification..i think these are the key factors to determine his decision. All i would say is you need to have loads of confidence and look the officer straight in the eye when you answer, never give him/her a chance to think that you are either lying or searching for an answer in your mind.
