I WILL TRY TO CALL VERMONT SERVICE CENTER LATER TODAY, CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW I CAN GET IN TOUCH WITH AN IMMIGRATION OFFICER OR ADJUDICATOR AT VERMONT VIA THE PHONE? I HATE TO SPEAK TO THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP. MOST OF THE TIME, THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GIVE YOU ANY INFO.

Please post the info that you will get from them. We do have the same timeline and hope we'll get our NOA2 soon. star_smile.gif

QUOTE (rebelheart @ Aug 24 2008, 09:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Me and my 4 yr old went to the interview with my husband now. It does a big advantages to the benefiaciary. It helps to in my end because my son whis so young being interviewed too and asked if he knows the guy, my son answer the immigration officer "that's my daddy and mention my husband name" =D , it shows sincerity on both parties that you give full support on this visajourney, and the officer open-eyes to the situation. Even my husband is being asked more than me.

They will allow the petitioner to be inside the interview premises, and they could asked him to be outside too if he wants to interview the beneficiary alone and they will asked him to go inside again for being interview together. More importantly to beneficiary like us, interviewer just wanna know if you know well your husband-to-be in terms of previous marriages or family background.

Goodluck! Go to the interview with your partner. rose.gif

Thanks a lot. You've answered my question well.

When I went for my interview (tourist visa --wich i got denied-- sad.gif ) the officers were really nice, trying to get us in the immigrant line, treating us really, really, really nice!!! Except for the denial the experience was pretty good (lol), they don't treat you the same if you are alone!

p.S: I was with my husband!

I guess the treatment will be a bit different when someone is with the foreign looking petitioner. yes.gif

I'm planning to have my fiance on the interview. Is this an advantage or disadvantage on our part? Somebody told me that it is not good to have the fiance appear on the interview because you will be interrogated separately and checked if your answers coincides. All I knew before was that the couple will be asked together. Anyone can help me answer this question? I get nervous thinking about it.

All I remember reading is that it can't hurt to have both of you present. At worst your fiance' will be asked to wait while you are questioned. There are LOTS of USCs who go to the interview, and I am going to my fiance's interview in Kiev. Don't worry.

A friend who recently had her interview said that she saw a foreign guy(she assumed that was the petitioner) was just outside the room while the CO interviewed the beneficiary inside. I get confused on what will really happen during interview. Still, I want my hunny to be with me to support me.

Hi guys! I will soon to have my interview and I don't know if it is okay to do handwriting on DS 157 and DS 156K forms. I have a problem filling them up online. I can't type any letters on the fields even I have my cursor on it. I have no idea what's the problem. So, I might just write on it than wasting my time figuring out how can I type. I was able to fill-up DS 156 form online and printed it with barcode. I had no problem with that except for DS 157 and DS 156K. Thanks for the help!

Hi, you don't need to bring any contraceptive if you don't wanna get preggy. THere's a new method that wud only cost you $250 but that is good for 5 yrs.You can go to the health dept. for free but they will base it on you hubby's income to avail it.

Five years is long. We just need 2-3 years of birth control. Two-fifty is cheap though for 5 years of birth control. That is very interesting!

Philippinesnursing books reprinted in PI
Hi! I am also a nurse.. passer of all nursing exams though. I heard from some of my nurse friends who went to Saipan (US territory) to take NCLEX exam, they have their books (printed in the Philippines) left in the airport when the custom personnel saw it. That's why when I took the exam in Hong Kong I did not bring any book anymore but just my notes. My advise is just to keep the books somewhere in your luggage and not to flaunt them. I guess they are strict to those who are not white. You may take the risk and the worst consequence is just they will confiscate the books, that's all I guess.

A denial will take the same time as an approval. Don't read anything into the length of time it is taking other than that they are backlogged.

So, denial can happen in USCIS as opposed to the other reply earlier???

Yes, denial can and does happen at USCIS. There have been posts here on VJ of petition denials. In the cases of denial, either they were not eligible to submit the petition or they did not supply some critical document or did not respond adequately to an RFE.

Some reasons for denial:

1. Not legally able to marry at the time the petition was submitted. There have been some to submit the application before a final decree of divorce or before a statutory waiting period has been satisfied.

2. Permanent resident filing petition only allowed for USCs

3. Filing a second K1 within 2 years or more than 2 without an IMBRA waiver request.

4. Not meeting in person within the past 2 years.

The reasons for denial are not arbitrary. If you meet the requirements, you will be approved. It's just a matter of waiting.

We don't belong to the 4 reasons mentioned above except that I was previously petitioned for K1 visa a year ago. My ex-fiance got married already and "petitioned"(term???) another girl who got an expired working visa in the US.

My question is will my present fiance's petition be denied because he is petitioning a girl who has been petitioned under K1 a year ago???

Two steps.

Petition can be approved or denied at the USCIS.

Visa can be approved or refused at the consulate.
