K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThe RFE Master List
Someone may have said this already but...

We got a RFE because we took "passport OR birth certificate of USC" to mean "passport OR birth certificate of USC" LOL. We put birth certificate and not passport, and they RFE'd for the passport so my advice is read all OR's as AND's ;)

Good luck to you dear reader :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureshelp on our journey

30 pictures is too much, 6-10 pictures are enough I think.

I met my fiancé on Facebook as well, playing Uno, I got approved last July, 2010, didn't seem a problem at all. (The C.O was interested in hearing actually)

Philippines isn't a high fraud country, specially that both you and your fiancé are Filipinos.

Good luck on the rest of your journey!

I was recently in the Philippines with my American fiance and was casually told by an officer at the US Embassy in Manila that the Philippines is a high fraud country. Doesn't matter that your fiance is Filipino - he is still a US Citizen like everyone else who is petitioning someone.

Just thought I'd share :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresyour opinions.

theres plenty of work in the area im interested in. but getting the employment authoriseation could be tricky. what do they class as primary evidence?

To my understanding primary evidence are things such as passport stamps, boarding passes, receipts of purchases you have made for example of an engagement ring.

I will be including copies of my past visas to the U.S & stamps, itineraries and photos.

hope this helps :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhich passport to apply with?

Just be aware that Sydney consulate are quite strict on certain things. The police report has to be done from hwere you have lived in the last 5 years if i remember correctly. But hey 2 would not hurt. trust me the more info you have for them the better. Am not sure of the passport issue hopeing someone else can advise you on that one. Good luck

Thanks for your input :)

I decided to just apply using 'Australian' as my citizenship since I am applying here in Oz.

The last I lived in the UK was when I was a teen so I'm guessing I won't have a problem with the police check.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhich passport to apply with?
Hi! :)

I reside in Australia and am a citizen but was born in the UK. I have both Aussie and British passports. All my prior US VISA's which have included J-1's and my B1/B2 are in my British passport (because it was cheaper :). Would there be a problem with me using my British passport for my K1? I will attending my interview in Australia. If I use my British passport does that mean I will need police clearance from the UK also?

Or would you recommend I just apply on my Aussie passport?

Reading about this K1 stuff has made me super paranoid and super analytical about everything.

Thanks for the help :) VJ has been amazing!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEmail/letter correspondence evidence

Australia isn't a high-fraud country. You'll definitely be fine with what you've included. You don't need the emails and letters. You can bring them with you to the interview but in all likelihood you won't need them there either.

Best of luck!

Thanks :) Congrats on your engagement!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEmail/letter correspondence evidence
Just finishing off our packet but are wondering is it really important we include emails/letters as I've read this is only secondary evidence. I don't even think I've ever sent him a snail mail letter, after all it is 2010

We have included travel itineraries where our names are both included, passport stamps/visas of entering each others countries. Don't have boarding passes as they are almost always collected as I board my flights.

We also have included a bunch of photos which we printed as a word document with descriptions of who/when/where they were taken.

I cannot access skype records since they only go back 6 months and phone records would be useless as we used phone cards and mostly video skyped.

Can someone please reassure me that this is enough for the first stage of the application. I'm thinking less is more, but when it comes to USCIS I'm not so sure.

Thanks in advance! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresfor any UK beneficiaries out there...

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting, but I've read a bunch of really helpful info already and am very grateful for this site and for anybody's input! My fiance is English, and for the boxes labeled "Citizenship/Nationality", should he type in "British" or "United Kingdom"? Similarly, in the 129F application, under his "State/Country" box, do I just type in "England/UK"? Finally, when the form asks for "country of citizenship", do I type in "England", "United Kingdom", or "Great Britain"? Maybe it doesn't even matter too much how I format it exactly, but would just like to do everything to the letter. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would put

Citizenship/Nationality: British (says this in passport)
Country: England
Country of Citizenship: England

I am a Brit by birth :) so I'm not just a random Aussie trying to sabotage you ;) haha.

In all honesty, I don't think it matters a great deal :)
Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPlastic bag or photo sheet

I just came back from Japan and I am ready to send the 129F packet. For Documentary Proof of Having Met in Person in the Past Two Years and an Ongoing Relationship I have collection of photo sheets that contains 46 photos of us both in the US and Japan in various locations during the previous two years.

However, if they punch holes on top of the photo sheets it’s going to be somewhat cumbersome as the holes will go into the pictures and the pages. Now I'm just thinking of going with a plastic bag.

I know I probably should just send the application and not worry about pedantic stuff like this but I was just curious what the consensus here was. Thanks!

Since all our photos are digital, we pasted 2 photos per page in a word document with a descriptions underneath. We only put about 15 pictures and even then I thought that may be too many :) The advice I was given here was to use enough to get your point across ie, you have met/been together in the past 2 years - the rest can be bought to the interview.

Anyway, primary evidence such as passport stamps and boarding passes are more solid evidence :)

good luck :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresForm G325-a

Good morning, afternoon or evening wherever you may be. My fiance and I are filling out the G325-a form that is required for the I129-f form. We do not have a case number yet since this is the first thing we file. Should we just put none in the box? Also, for alien registration number, what do we put there? Just want to make sure everything is filled out perfectly.

Thanks for your help.

there is a sample form located under the 'example forms' tab here on this website that i found really useful :)

Hello my name is Amanda and I'm at the process of finishing up my I-129 packet. This is going to be a dumb question and more than likely I'm just over looking it, but does anybody know who you're supposed to make the moneyorder out to. It's driving me nuts and I've been looking for two hours. If anybody knows and could tell me that would be greatly appreciated thank you so much.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresApplication hasn't been "touched" in 3 months
I have read some people not being 'touched' at all and then receiving their NOA2. The general consensus is that being 'touched' doesn't really mean a whole lot.

According to 'Igor's list' some couples that filed at the beginning of June have received their NOA2 in the past couple of days, which means hopefully you won't be far off :)

All the best.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRecent college graduate and currently unemployed petitioner...issues?

Hi,

I'm just learning about the process of petitioning for a K-1 and I'm a little bit concerned about getting denied based on my current situation.

I have not held a full time job since early 2009 as I went into grad school full time in the interest of changing careers. My last two recent jobs have been as an intern. I recently finished the program and am actively looking for a job at the moment.

Unfortunately I can't predict when I will find a job, but I expect to find one eventually by some time next year. So, I don't have 12 months of recent pay stubs or a bank statement that shows I have steady income.

So my question is, should I go ahead and mail in the K-1 petition package right now or wait until I've found work? Also, does my current financial/employment situation play into the decision on whether the petition will get approved or denied?

Thanks.

Wayne

Hi Wayne,

My fiance and I were also in the same situation. He had just graduated college and was out of a job but we applied for the K1 anyway. The processing time is around 5 months to reach the NOA 2 stage so you will have plenty of time to find work. If not, when it comes to you filling out the affadavit you can always have a co-sponsor (check with your fiances consulate since some places do not allow this). There are also other factors to consider such as earning above the poverty line.

My fiance has now found a job but would have only been working for a month or so by the time our NOA 2 (hopefully) rolls around... so we will have a co-sponsor.

Hope this helps :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUSCIS vs California Service Center?
Actually, all petitions are now sent to a Lewisville Lockbox which accepts the payment - they are then forwarded to the service center which services the state the petitioner resides. These are either the service centers in California, Vermont or Dallas.

Can someone further confirm this??

Wow 2 years and one picture? That must be some kind of record!

However, what Penguin said is true. Primary evidence is much more important than photos! I remember reading somewhere that another VJ member only submitted 1 photo with their petition - and theirs was fine. However when you are together next time make it a point to take some pics 'just incase'.

All the best!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresaffidavit of support situation
I think that current income is what is most important - I would have a co sponsor. At this stage the affadavit is not legally binding so maybe you can explain that to whoever will sponsor and they may be more eager to help.

My fiance has just started working since he recently graduated college. We won't have enough pay stubs/evidence by the time we get around to the interview so will use his father as a co-sponsor. By the time AOS rolls around we will have enough proof of income. :)

Good luck.

It is one page.

http://www.uscis.gov...form/g-325a.pdf

You need to submit one each for petitioner and beneficiary.

Make sure you are using the correct and current version as linked from the official USCIS.GOV webpage.

Can anyone confirm this? x

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAustralians without vaccination records

The shots I had were BASIC requirements for Australians, Regardless if its for a visa or not you should of had these particular vaccinations. I would rather get the shots that are so called "MAY" required over and done with just incase who ever does your medical gives them to you at the full price. In Australia were luckly enough to have Medicare which takes care of most of these vaccination costs. Hense the reason I got MMR for free, even chicken pox which is actually $120, not including the boosters.

Id rather be safe than sorry, not sure about anyone else.

Agreed..... except the flu vacc. haha.

I've read that it is only required for flu season. When I had my medical the doctor ticked 'not required/not in season'... if my interview is in flu season which I don't even think it is then what's the go???

Confused!? :hehe:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAustralians without vaccination records

Hey guys,

So I've read other Australian and NZ posts about missing vaccination records and everyone has jus got a immunity test done. Well heres my story on what my crazy doctor did.

Alright well I went to the doctor told him the reason I wanted to be checked out and he thought it was pretty cool, Gave him the list of vaccinations that are required for the K1 visa and he gave me a test for just a few first.

So a week later I went to go get my results back thinking everything was going to be fine... I thought wrong!
I had nothing! not even chicken pox! I was really suprised and upset aboutt his! I remember getting some things through H.S but seriously.. not even chicken pox.
So I bit my tongue because I was about to swear and ask the doctor if I can get ALL the vaccinations all over again.

So he gave me a few scripts to pick up

$90 for Hep A and Hep B
$80 for diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis and poliomyelitis (OUCH!)
FREE! for measles, mumps and rubella

Gotta go back for boosters and chicken pox in 6 weeks, I'm also getting chicken pox for free too! yay me!

So anyone else that has sore arm/s?

Wow! That's a double ouch... to your arm and pockets!

Had you never been immunised for tdap? if so, my booster was only $35 or something.

At least you are having it all sorted now :) I'm pretty sure having them done with the panel physician will cost even more - not to mention how much they would cost having them done at a later date once you reach the US.

Good luck friend, bring your mum with you - helped me to be extra brave on the day. haha

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVaccination questions
When I got mine done, I brought in the list of required immunisations - I'm pretty sure my doctor understood it better than I had

My GP was the one who took my blood then I just went back to get the results. Either way, you'll need a referral to go a pathology place so see your GP :)

Also, tetanus hurts. haha
curvebellFemaleAustralia2011-04-13 05:52:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVaccination questions
I don't think the doc will be able to answer that for you over email. It depends on you. I had also had a booster in the past couple of years for MMR and tdap - therefore I thought I would be ok. Found I needed further boosters for both.

It is honestly easier to have a serology test done. Costs you nothing, can get it on medicare. You get a neat A4 sized record that is much easier than bringing baby record/etc.

I had also had chicken pox but had no proof so serology also confirmed this.

I'd wait though for a couple of months to get it done - I think the med results are valid for a year so between waiting for NOA 2, entering the country, getting married, then finally getting to AOS may take a while.

Good luck with it all! xxxx
