Philippinesproof of relationship concerns

Something that we experienced.  The fiance had pictures, and chat logs, and phone records.

She had MORE than enough stuff, and the examiner challenged her on it.
"You only have 2 pages of chat logs?"  "She calmly replied "I didn't want to print out the 5500+ pages, but I could!"  He moved on.

So, it sounds like you have MORE than enough proof.  Just be confident.

PhilippinesBuying flight from Manila? Hear this first.

I bought the fiance's ticket on Delta with about a week's notice.  MNL->NRT->PDX (Portland Oregon).  I e-mailed her the itinerary, she printed it out, and had NO problems whatsoever.  She paid the travel tax at the airport, and that was that.

I called Delta customer service, and asked them about this issue.  (Do I need to go to the airport, and show my ID?)  And the Delta rep said there ARE countries with fraud protections in place, but RP isn't one of them.

PhilippinesGot 221-g, need to send documents to embassy from the US.

OK, ANOTHER issue has come up.  Milane's medical could expire during the wait.  She's already had her interview, and we've supplied the required documentation to satisfy the 221g.  Does this matter?  Will she had to have another medical?

Thanks!

PhilippinesGot 221-g, need to send documents to embassy from the US.

Is there any such thing as a "typical processing time" for the 221g data once received by the USEM?   My situation is, they received it on July 25th, and there was some activity on the case.  (The date updated).  And then there was more activity on Monday the 28th, and nothing since.  YES, I know about the technical issue, and realize that this could COMPLETELY be the cause of the holdup.  But, I'm just curious if there is a "typical" time post 221g request satisfaction.

ANOTHER question since I have you all here.  Does the USEM usually ask for everything they think they'll need at once?  Or do they piece it out?  Meaning, if the provided documentation satisfies the cause of the 221g, are they LIKELY to ask for something else?  Or is this a case of "Everything else looks good, but you're missing this one thing"?

And lastly, is there any truth to the "They kept your passport when they gave you the 221g, that's a good sign!" claims?

Can I DO that?  or do I have to send to the fiance, and let HER send them via 2Go?

PhilippinesManila 221g processing times. (Anyone else waiting like me?)

Here's toasting to your climatic journey. It's been a tough row to hoe but you got it done. All the best to the two of you.

Thanks Greenbaum!

NEWS!  It's DONE!

She called the embassy yesterday, and they told her it would happen soon, but if she was in a hurry, she could come to the embassy, and wait.  Out the door like a flash, she was there, and camped out until they provided her what she needed, went to CFO and dealt with them.  Signed, sealed, delivered, and ready to leave in a couple of hours to come to America.

Guys and gals.  Words simply cannot describe the sincere gratitude that I must express for all the help, love, and guidance provided on these pages.  For most of us, we'll only ever take this journey once, so we have no idea what to do, what to expect, or even when something will happen.  The kindness, and support, and generosity with time here is quite a humbling experience for me looking back.

I feel that we accomplished a lot, but I realize that in order to reach the stars, I stood on the shoulders of giants.  From the early checklists, and example forms, to the words of encouragement, commiseration, and ultimately camaraderie.  I appreciate everything you guys and gals did for me, and I'll never forget you!

Now for printing/packaging/delivery!!!

Long haul but finally!   :joy:

Printing?  Yes.  Delivery?  Only to MOA.  That's all SUPPOSED to happen TODAY.  We'll see.

Somehow I don't see me sleeping tonight until the embassy closes, or I get word that she either DOES, or DOES NOT have it.

NOW, I'm nervous:

Visa Type is NONIMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION
Status is Ready
Last touch date is 08-Sep-2014

(I'm a nerd, I wrote a PERL program that hits the site once an hour, and e-mails me if things change, and I just got this in an e-mail).

if they blow the medical deadline, it won't move you to the bottom of the stack, just cost you the fee for the medical and the time to get the file to USEM.

I know of one other that had to redo the medical and it was not much of a delay.

But I am going to keep the vibes going for them to get it all done in time.

Thanks for the info, and the vibes Hank.  I was curious what happened if she had to had the medical again.

She called them last night to ask a question, at which point they backpedalled on the whole thing.  They're now only going to TRY to get it done in time, while making no guarantees that they WILL.

This is maddening.

I *HOPE* this is just ####### covering in the event that something happens, and they can't do it.  Otherwise, she has to have a new medical, and we go back to the bottom of the stack at the embassy, since there will no longer be any reason for them to expedite the case.

I bought the plane tickets anyway.  Who knows, it might still work out.

ChrisFurloughNot TellingPhilippines2014-09-04 18:04:00
PhilippinesManila 221g processing times. (Anyone else waiting like me?)

Well, progress!

My fiance got her medical back on March 12th.  The embassy contacted her to ask if they approved her visa quickly, could she travel before it expired on September 12th.  Of COURSE she said YES, YES, YES, 1000x YES.

So, then it gets weird.  If you think that the process at the embassy is infallible, then I have some news for you.  During her interview, they skipped a couple of steps that must be taken now.  For instance, they didn't collect her appointment letter, and they didn't have her do the oath.  So, they asked her to sign and date the appointment letter, and send it to them via 2Go, and to stop by the embassy to take the oath.

And, since it's us, we have problems.  She did as they asked, and ran to the local 2Go center to send it off to them.  Well, apparently, the 2Go central office in Tacloban is having a meltdown or something, and they are unable to process anything through there at this time.  So, the route for the package will have to be Abuyog->Ormoc->Cebu->Manila, and will take *5 business days*.  How about no?  Does no work for you?  *sigh*  So, I'm going to book her a ticket to Manila for Sunday, and she'll go to the embassy Monday morning, and do all the stuff that has to be done.  They told her that it would take them 2 days to print the visa, but she should be able to pick it up at MOA on the 10th.  (And get to the CFO for the sticker), and fly out on the 11th.  THAT makes me nervous, but what can you do?

So, it sounds like we're in the homestretch, but as always, nothing is ever easy.

how do i do that? i think I read in some posts that you can use the UID or case number to track the visa but so far it has not yielded any result.

Until they ship it, nothing will show up.  Once they DO ship it, you'll get a hit.

(Just to make sure)

Use the "Track Your Package" option in the top right, in the pink bar.

No touch yesterday.  I assume this means that Stanley Associates has finished their touching of the case, and it's now in transit to the proper desk at the embassy.  They'll have had it for 2 weeks as of tomorrow.

I don't know about you folks, but I would *LOVE* a documentary that follows a case file along, just to see what all is involved.

What does AP mean??

It stands for "Administrative Processing".  And it basically means all the stuff that's not involving your interview.  All the paperwork before, and after, and any processing related to any 221gs that you might get.

And, now I know the who's, and what's about that.

http://washingtontec...tate-visas.aspx

Stanley was bought by our friends CGI Federal.  So, now it makes sense as to why it takes 21 days for a package to make it from "received" to a conselor's desk.

My form is now in Manila.  But, studying the 2Go tracking info, I discovered something interesting!  You don't ship the forms STRAIGHT to the embassy.  You send them to an outside company, that is probably the mail handler for the embassy.

STANLEY ASSOCIATES, INC.
ECOPLAZA BLDG
2305 CHINO ROCES EXT

Which is 12km away from the embassy itself.  That explains SOME of the delay, but I don't think it should take 21 days to go 12km, unless they're contracting out to carrier turtles or something.

*sigh*  The 221g that the fiance received on March 26th asked for something specific.  (It took a while to obtain it, due to slow moving government bureaucracy.)  As I stated above, they received it on July 25th (so sayeth 2Go), and it took them 21 days to route it to the right person.  That person received it, and 3 days later proclaimed that the exact form that they requested was indeed provided, but they need ANOTHER form to go with it.  I scanned, and e-mailed this to the fiance last night, and she ran down to the local 2Go to send it to them.  So, here we go again.  Hopefully the mailroom(s) don't wait *3 farking weeks* to get it to the right person this time.

ChrisFurloughNot TellingPhilippines2014-08-18 16:21:00
PhilippinesManila 221g processing times. (Anyone else waiting like me?)

Senna, I believe that!  I had my congressman's "immigration liaison" contact them, and, this is what she had to say:

They received some documentation on 8/12/14 and began reviewing it yesterday, 8/13/14. Due to the volume of cases the embassy handles, it can sometimes take around 30 days for them to review documentation and make a final decision. The embassy could not give me an exact timeframe for when they will complete action on your fiancée's application but I would say that it would be appropriate to give them another couple of weeks to review the information.

They RECEIVED the package on 07/25.  So, all those previous touches, were just handling to get it to the right person.  (Who, presumably has it now).  We'll see.

I *HIGHLY* recommend google.com/flights.  Not only does it show you everyone's prices, it also lets you see the prices of the flights on surrounding days.  So, it might be that you can save A LOT of money by flying a day earlier, or later.  Or maybe even 4 days later.  Only flight search site that I know of that'll let you compare MONTHS at a time.
