Yes I know about TV5 Monde, thanks for the fast reply.

I was thinking about the regular channels like TF1, France 2, France 3 ... is there a possibility to get them?

Hi,

Could someone explain what is the medical examination? Is it only like a regular visit to a doctor or do they ask more?

Thank you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNO2
Hi,

Don't worry, I filed the I129F petition on October 3 and still have no news either. I don't understand why some cases seems to have the priority compared to others but it is so.... there is nothing to do except being patient.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures90 days with tourist visa
Hi everybody,

Sorry for the confusion, I was indeed talking about VWP. I call it a tourist visa but it is probably not the correct name.

Do you know about a way to stay longer? What is the B2-visa? I take anything possible :-)

I almost found a job in the US with a J1-visa but when I discovered what it meant (go back to your home country after one year and not allowed to come back to the US for 2 years), of course I refused.

Thanks a lot for your advises! I am going to the US next month (I will stay almost 4 weeks wub.gif and I have an appointment with a lawyer for my future immigration. I will write down all the questions I have in mind and try to have clear answers before I do anything wrong. Again thank you for your help!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures90 days with tourist visa
Dear all,

I have heard about this website through a new friend who is almost in the same situation as mine (thanks Fran).

I have two citizenships: the Belgian one and the Swiss one. I am living in Belgium. My boyfriend lives in the US. We would like to start the K1 procedure but I am still waiting for my divorce here in Belgium [I always do things complicated].

We can only start the K1 procedure when I will be divorced, i.e. in October at the latest. In the meantime, I am travelling to the US every 2-3 months. At the end of this year (October), I would like to travel with my tourist visa, stay there something like 80-85 days, come back in Belgium for 2 weeks and go back with a new tourist visa. At the end of the second tourist visa, I assume I will have a K1-visa.

I asked the opinion of a lawyer in immigration and he said it should not be a problem if I only do it twice. But I really fear they notice I try to stay in the US and send me back to Belgium. That would be a drama crying.gif

With your experience, do you think I can do that, combine two long stays of 90 days while waiting for my K1 visa?

Thanks in advance for your help. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProcess faster with a lawyer or not?
I'm Swiss/Belgian, my fiancee is American. I need to wait for my divorce decree before we start the procedure. And I just read I need to make this decree translated by a certified translator :-s

This is why I think my case is probably a little bit different than other cases... otherwise, I read the instructions for form 1-129F and it seems easy to fill in.

Other comments/advises are very welcome.

Thanks to all of you and goodnight - time to sleep here.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProcess faster with a lawyer or not?
Thanks to you guys for your fast replies. Actually I have so much things to do before I leave, like selling my belongings, find someone to rent my house, leaving my job, prepare my new life in the US that I felt it would be good to know someone else - a professional - would take care of that stuff. Are there many forms to fill in or is it quite easy?

Dear all,

We will start the K1 procedure soon and would like to know about your experience about the timelines. Do you think the process goes faster if you hire a lawyer? What are the advantages of hiring a lawyer?

Thanks for your help.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNot Divorced from Ex when we met....
Hi Scott,

I am in the same situation. I was also married when I met my fiance and I am waiting for the divorce decree to start the procedure. I asked advise to an attorney, he said there should be no problem as far as you send the divorce decree AND its translation by a certified translator together with your K1- request. Don't forget the translation otherwise they will come back to you and you will lose time.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDivorce decree Belgium needed for K1
I found a way to go faster: bothering people and calling them every day until I get this paperwork devil.gif It works !!! I hope to have everything ready for October 1st and this will help us to save 1.5 months! So to those who are waiting for administration stuff: CALL CALL CALL even if they will hate you. At least they want to get rid of you and will handle your request.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDivorce decree Belgium needed for K1
OK... thanks for your help. It just makes me sick to wait 2.5 months for one sheet of paper which will very likely be exactly the same that the one I just received by mail... But if you think I could be REJECTED for that I will trust you. I thought that they could start to handle the file in the meantime and that I could send the very official divorce decree as soon as received if they need it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDivorce decree Belgium needed for K1
Dear all,

I was waiting for the divorce decree to start the K1 procedure.

I went to the court on August 4 and received a paperwork that really looks like the divorce decree but I was told I would receive the official paperwork later.

My question is: is the document I received sufficient as a divorce decree for an immigrant applying for a K-1 Visa?

It says:

The Court pronounced the divorce of:

xxx (name of ex-husband), born (date), living at (address)

and

xxx (me), born (date), living at (address)

who were married in (city) on (date)

+ signature of the judge and 2 people working at the court.

I want to translate this document (by an official translator) and send the package now to the Immigration (everything is ready, I was only waiting of the divorce decree) to start the procedure as soon as possible. Do you think it is a good idea to try, even if they come back with a question OR is it better to wait until the "official decree" which will probably be exactly the same document?

Thanks for your advice, always greatly appreciated!

Hi,

We have friends - she is a US citizen, he is French and working in the US with a H1B.

They plan to get married next year and would like to know what type of visa he should request.

Is/was anyone in the same situation?

Thank you!
