National Visa Center (Dept of State)Anyone With This Experience?

We got our NOA2 Oct 15th and had been calling NVC for case number at least twic a week but they told us that they have not received our file yet from USCIS so the supervisor adviced my fiancée to call USCIS she called them today and spoke to a supervisor who told her that our file has been sent to the consulate directly without going through NVC. Is that normal? Had anybody experienced this before? Is almost 2 months since we got approved and I heard the petition is only valid for 4 months from the date of approval. Please I will like to know if anyone had experience this in the past. Thanks every one.

We got our NOA2 on August 1st, but it wasn't processed in NVC unti September 24, which is the date we got our case number mailed to us. It's obnoxiously slow!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDo I need medical results before sending in packet 3?

You don't need the medical until after Packet 3. Some places won't let you have the medical until you have Packet 4 to make sure you're ready to interview. From what I've heard, doing the medical as close to the interview as possible is ideal because then you can use the same medical results for your AOS (if it's within a year).

CanadaPackage 3: So lost!

Thank you all! We're going to start filling everything out and hopefully send it in by next Monday. He works the night shift full time, so it'll take us some time.

CanadaPackage 3: So lost!

No, I have not recieved anything from MTL at all. The online portal mentioned filing for courier services, which the documents will be sent by.

Should we be sending in the packet 3 forms now or waiting for further notice? I feel like it wouldn't hurt to send in the forms now, but I also don't want to risk them getting lost. At the very least, we plan on filling them all out ASAP.

CanadaPackage 3: So lost!

My fiance and I are in the middle of filing for his K-1 visa (He's Canadian, I'm Californian), and he finally recieved the letter saying our case would be forwarded to the Montreal Consulate at the end of September. They sent him a letter in the beginning of October telling him to register online. He didn't mention the need to do anything else, but it's sounding like we should be sending in our Package 3 forms, judging by what I'm reading from everybody else. Is this correct? Do I need to send him my I-134, or does he just bring that to the interview? I plan on attending his interview, so I was just going to bring it with me then, but I don't want our case to be put even further behind by not sending it. If I am correct, he just needs to send in DS-130, DS-156, DS-156K, a confirmation copy of DS-160, two photographs, and a photocopy of his passport. Do we need to wait for further instructions from the consulate, or should we already be sending everything?

I apologize for the wall of text, but we're both a little stressed about all this. Thank you for the possible help!

CanadaHas packet 3 changed?

This is the most updated Packet 3 on the Montreal/US consulate website. They haven't updated their guide, but it's the most recent Packet 3 on the website.

CanadaNOA-2 expiration

We're sending in his packet as soon as the police certificate comes in, so it should be this week. But, with the time it takes to process, we won't be ready to schedule an interview until right when our application expires/after it expires, so I suppose I'll email Montreal to be safe.

CanadaNOA-2 expiration

Our NOA-2 expires November 30th. We got our packet 3 information at the beginning of the month, but it has taken us a while to 1, realize what it was, and 2, get all of the information put together. It'll all be sent in within the next week or so, but obviously we won't have an interview in time.

Do I have to contact the consulate to have everything extended? If so, how do I/we go about doing that?

Thank you!

CanadaNew passport

My fiance accidentally sent his passport through the wash, which means he needs a new one. When he gets the new one, we just need to email the Montreal consulate, correct? I told him to save the old one just in case, but I just want to make sure we're on the right track haha. We're currently waiting for packet 4 to be sent so we can schedule his interview.

Thanks!

CanadaConfused about sending Packet 3

My fiance sent it in by email to the Montreal consulate a couple weeks ago. The instructions were just updated last month, so I think everybody on VJ is used to the old way. I plan on posting a thread with updates, but we hope to have Packet 4 soon.

How intense is said drug test? I know basic job interviews have drug tests that go back a month or whatever, but do they do ones that can find traces from years ago?

We're just trying to figure out our best course of action :)

Thanks for the info! Neither of us were aware haha. We don't even have Packet 4 yet, and he has no record of being linked to marijuana, so it looks like it's time for him to be clean. Do they do a drug test at the medical?

ShelbymNot Telling02013-12-03 17:15:00
CanadaMairjuana Use

I saw a post earlier about a person who has been denied their visa because they mentioned that they had used marijuana in the past. According to the posts, all tests came back negative, but he was still denied based on his admission of use. Is this something to be concerned about in Canada, specifically Montreal? I know my fiance has occasionally smoked, but it's been years since anything routine.

CanadaPacket 3 Checklist - Montreal

It's been two weeks so I just called the DOS and asked if Montreal has logged my packet 3 and they said NO :-( The operator thinks Thanksgiving may have gotten in the way. I'll try back next week I suppose. Has ANYONE who emailed in packet 3 heard back from the consulate yet about packet 4?

That's a negative, ghost rider :( I saw another post saying it takes 3-6 weeks, so I'm trying to hold hope :P

If you just sent it in on the 19th, you're right there with FloridaCanuck, myself, and a few others who are still waiting for a stupid packet 4. It's been a painful waiting process, but supposedly, we're all still on track, so we just gotta hold faith :)

CanadaNew Packet 3 Montreal ?

^^ You got that response a few days after? Are you sure about that? It's just an auto-response to anything sent to that address. You should have gotten that 2 seconds after you hit the send button.

My bad haha, I'm pretty sure he got it right afterwards. I didn't send the email, so I wasn't fully paying attention :P

CanadaFor those of us who are waiting for P4 from Montreal:

I got this email from the consulate today after emailing them last Monday. I asked if they had received our packet, which was sent on November 13, and what the time frame was for processing. Here's the email:

Good day,

Thank you for your email.

We are pleased to acknowledge receipt of the documents.

We regret to inform you that the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal is currently experiencing a huge volume of documents to process. We are doing our best to process it as fast as possible.

Your case will be reviewed shortly and the Consular Officer will advise you of the results.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I hope that this information is useful.

There's hope on the (eventual) horizon! :)

CanadaGetting aggravated with U.S. Consulate in Montreal

How did you book it? I went on the csc site and it says no available appointments? I clicked on immigrant visa - ready to schedule. Is this correct?

It's correct, there just isn't any available interviews. I've heard that they usually put out more dates every couple of weeks, but I don't know for sure. I've been checking daily to see if any random appointments have appeared.

CanadaGetting aggravated with U.S. Consulate in Montreal

I've officially called enough that they're starting to recognize me, but there's still no record of it even being logged :( I'm starting to wonder if we should just resort to mailing it in. Seems like that way was a lot faster. At this rate, we won't have an interview until April, which is almost a year from originally mailing in the K-1 packet.

CanadaNew interview dates.

Your not alone... I finally received my P-4 on Wednesday. I went on the CSC site to create an account and book my appointment it said the the next available appointment was 105 days (approx, Mar 27th). After completing my payment the site crashed. ARRRG! I called and they said No appointments are available...

Brian accidentally washed his passport, and the new one came in the mail the same day as we got P4 -____- So we had to make sure the new passport number wouldn't affect anything before signing up, and all of them were gone by then. Hopefully we can get an appointment before May! May 1 will mark a year since we started this process

The nurse was taking appointments for when he comes back. The trick is to make sure he has all the updates shots that are required for his age. If not, they will make him come back and pay all over again presumably and you'll be behind and have to re-schedule your interview - so make sure no mistakes ;-)

Yeah, we'll make sure he's on top of it :) I just want my fiance here already!
