I want to thank everyone out there who has sent us their prayers and good wishes. You don't know how much it has meant to us to have your support.

As for the interview, Inusah it went well, but they want him to come back in June (#######?!!?!?!?!?!?!) with more pictures from 2006 (hello, we only knew each other for ONE DAY) and letters (#######???). They scheduled him for June 2nd.

I know it is not bad news, it could be worse. We are not in AP/AR (I called DOS, they said just bring more pictures and letters). Inusah explained the reason why we had no pictures from 2006 and the CO was satisfied witht he answer but said to bring letters. I have THREE letters that he has sent me in the 1 year and 7 months we have been together. 3. I have sent him some care packages and I have the receipts for those and he has some letters and cards that I sent him (when they got to him) so I guess they are going to have to be happy with that.

The CO also asked him when we were planning to get married. Inusah replied July/August and the CO said to be on the safe side, it would be better to have the visa issued in June. #######?????? The visa is valid for SIX MONTHS!!!! That would put us in SEPTEMBER if it was issued today.

I just don't understand it. Inusah said the CO was convinced we had a real relationship. So, why all this about coming back with more pictures and letters? I just don't get it.

Inusah sounded optimistic about everything. I will not be happy until we have that visa in hand. I thought the waiting was over...I guess I was wrong. Now I have another f'ing interview to look forward to. I am just so tired of all the waiting.

I will post a more complete rev

Sorry for the delay....My heart breaks for you!!!

Traveller attacks 'worrying'
25/03/2008 19:01 - (SA)

Johannesburg - Attacks on visitors leaving O R Tambo International airport remain a point of concern, and should be thoroughly investigated, the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) said on Tuesday.

The council's chief executive officer, Mmatsatsi Marobe, said a crime fighting unit such as the Scorpions should take a leading role in dealing with this matter.

"The tourism industry is not doubting the ability of the police in dealing with this matter. However we think a specialised unit would perhaps look at this problem with a different view and approach."

Marobe said the situation should be investigated, more especially now that there were countries warning their citizens travelling to South Africa to be vigilant of gangs who may follow them and rob them.

Countries that have issued travel warnings are the United States, Kenya, Australia and New Zealand - with the US issuing its alert for the second time in six months.

Marobe said this was a point of concern for the industry as effects of a downturn in tourism due to these incidents could be devastating.

"The country attracted more than nine million international visitors last year. We want to build on this increase in an effort to reach the ten million mark before 2010.

"Therefore, fighting the scourge of these attacks has become even more important."

On average, for every eight tourists to the country one job was created, therefore any negative event would most likely affect the livelihood of a huge percentage of ordinary citizens, she said.

Lagos airport issues NEWS ALERT!!Staff reporters | Johannesburg, South Africa22 March 2008 10:51DisplayDCAd('220x240','1','');Spare a thought for travellers from Murtala Muhammed airport Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria.

Travellers were greeted this month with A4 photostated notices stapled to the walls of the arrivals and departures halls.

The problem concerns the ramp, a set of miscreants and don't forget the farmers.

A passenger arriving at OR Tambo International airport this week showed the Mail & Guardian Online one of the notices that he had torn off the wall at the airport.

The notice, from the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, reads:

NEWS ALERT!! NEWS ALERT!! NEWS ALERT!!!
This brings to your notice the operations of a SET OF MISCREANTS on our RAMP. These UNWANTED ELEMENTS whose mission is to mastermind chaos leading to ACCIDENTS and incidents can be with their dress code which is not usually in conformity with RAMP SAFETY. They do wear appropriate reflective jackets on the RAMP and they display nonchalant attitudes towards all RAMP SAFETY PROCEDURES.

Their weapons of operation in include the creation of FODS [Foreign Object Debris], SILTS, SANDS, RUBBER DEPOSITS on the RAMP, facilitation of CRACKED SURFACES, OPENING OF JOINTS, GREASE on the APRON etc. They usually operate DEFECTIVE/DYSFUNTIONING VEHICLES on the RAMP. These MISCREANTS who also include FARMERS, LUNATICS, SCAVENGERS, REFUSE COLLECTORS on the AIRSIDE are very DANGEROUS and their operations are RISKY for the SAFETY of business at MURTALA MUHAMMED AIRPORT.

The INSPECTOR GENERAL OF SAFETY at MURTALA MUHAMMED AIRPORT while commenting on the activities of these MISCREANTS emphasized that ALL hands must be on deck to COMBAT/DEFEAT the MISCREANTS. She noted thatSAFETY IS OUR COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY at MURTALA MUHAMMED AIRPORT and ALL should endevour to report anyone found perpetuating such acts.

The airport -- modelled after Amsterdam's Schiphol -- was named after former Nigerian military head of state Murtala Muhammed.

I need advice on getting a Delta flight from Atlanta to Lagos, Nigeria. I do not like stop over in Europe. I need the CHEAPEST website/agency/etc... that can atleast give me the delta flight from Atlanta to Lagos that can be under $1000 including taxes. I know if I was going to purchase it directly through the airline for November, I would get it around $1300 plus tax which will end up around $1400.

I have not taken Delta to Nigeria before, any advice on how the airline is like. I just love the direct flight from America to Nigeria, even being a few hundred dollars more than a few other airlines but with less tax.

Africa: Sub-SaharanI 864 A HELP!!!!!
I found this info in this site

Description:
Form I-864A may be filed by a sponsor and a non-U.S. citizen immigrant. Form I-864A is an optional form and sets forward a contract in which the immigrant agrees to make assets and/or income available to the sponsor to help support the immigrant for which the affidavit of support has been filed. Form I-864A sets forward obligations of the household member in this contract which will terminate when the obligation under the Affidavit of Support of the sponsor terminates. A separate Form I-864A must be used for each household member whose income and/or assets are being used by a sponsor to qualify. Form I-864A may be submitted simultaneously with Form I-864. Form I-864A (Affidavit of Support Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member) may also be known as USCIS Form I-864A, I 864A, Form I864A or immigration form I-864A.

Does anyone know can I as the sponsor who is about $3000.00 short have my husbanh/non us citizen, whom I am sponsoring, aid in my income or do we have to get a co-sponsor.......I am soooooo very confused!!!!!!!

Hi I found this in this site

Sponsor's Income Requirement

As a sponsor, your household income must equal or exceed 125 percent of the Federal poverty line for your household size. For the purpose of the affidavit of support, household size includes yourself, all persons related to you by birth, marriage, or adoption living in your residence, your dependents, any immigrants you have previously sponsored using INS Form I-864 if that obligation has not terminated, and the intending immigrant(s) in Part 3 of this affidavit of support. The poverty guidelines are calculated and published annually by the Department of Health and Human Services. Sponsors who are on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces other than for training need only demonstrate income at 100 percent of the poverty line if they are submitting this affidavit for the purpose of sponsoring their spouse or child.

If you are currently employed and have an individual income which meets or exceeds 125 percent of the Federal poverty line, (or 100 percent, if applicable) for your household size, you do not need to list the income of any other person. When determining your income, you may include the income generated by individuals related to you by birth, marriage, or adoption who are living in your residence, if they have lived in your residence for the previous 6 months, or who are listed as dependents on your most recent Federal income tax return whether or not they live in your residence. For their income to be considered, these household members or dependents must be willing to make their income available for the support of the sponsored immigrant(s) if necessary, and to complete and sign Form I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member.

However, a household member who is the immigrant you are sponsoring only need complete Form I-864A if his or her income will be used to determine your ability to support a spouse and/or children immigrating with him or her.

Can Stuart fill out a I-864A and then we can use his income along with mine....my income comes up short because I only worked part time the last 5 years while in college......

No. The petitioner or the petitioner and a co sponsor have to complete it. The idea is if you don't have income, who will take care of you and prevent you from becoming a public charge. You can't use your own income for that.

GREAT NEWS<<WELCOME HOME!!!

QUOTE (Asante Maroon @ Apr 14 2008, 06:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
SO sorry guys for my long long long sabbatical!

Things have been kind of crazy with full time work and school! Please forgive me. Here is the update!

My fiance's interview went well. He was approved!!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif And he is here now. He Arrived on the 4th of this month...10 days ago!!!

He told me that the interview went smoothly and that it's best to go with everything and let the embassy pick and choose what documents they want. He saw a lot of people with too little documentation or none at all practically. He said many of those who had their documents were not organized and that caused a lot of impatience with the the interviewers.

The interviewer was polite enough and did not ask many questions, but instead relied on the documentation provided.

They asked the following three questions:
-Tell me about your fiance.
-Where did you meet?
-How did you meet?

The person who first took his packet (the person who initially reviews the packet and tells you to pay your fee), was very nice. She made a lot of jokes with my fiance and pointed out some of our most intimate pictures and asked my fiance what church he went to and that she was going to tell his pastor. My fiance later saw this person speak to the woman who interviewed him. He has a feeling that the impression he left on the first woman was conveyed to the interviewer, so it's best to be pleasant to EVERYONE and smile.

If you are a student or a professional, look the part. Every one should go to the interview dressed nicely, but not over done.

As for the visa.....That was a different story.

When my fiance went to pick up his visa, on the day they told him to be there. An embassy personnel told everyone who inquired about their visa that their visa would not be issued that day and that they should come back a week later. They were back logged and would not possibly get to them that day. There were people waiting a long as 3 weeks for their visas already and they were not ready!!!!

My fiance was told by someone prior to that announcement that his visa might be ready, so he hung around despite the odds of him getting his visa that day. As the number of people dwindled down (and after about 5 hours), an officer told my fiance that she was sorry and that it did not look like his visa would be ready that day. They gave him a slip to come back a week later and as he was about to leave he heard his name being called from another window (which wasn't even the correct window) asking him to come and collect his visa.

Divine intervention? I believe so. My fiance said that he was praying the whole 5 hours he sat there.

So that's about it in a nutshell.

His stubbornness paid off and saved him a week or maybe even a month....who knows!

All I know is...GOD is GOOD!!!!

If you have any questions, I promise I will be good about getting back to you! Ask away!!!

We had so much fun. We did a traditional ceremony (my hometown) and then we had a reception (his hometown).

At the traditional ceremony there is this part before the bride comes out where sisters/cousins/etc will make the groom pay in order for the bride to come out for the ceremony. So, I was locked in my room with one of my bridesmaids and we were waiting. All of a sudden I hear shouting and yelling and different amounts of money being yelled out. Inusah's friends were negotiating on his behalf and it was hilarious to hear all of it.

I still have no idea what they paid dry.gif

So, pictures:

For many continents and countries, the bigest obstacle is getting the visa to enter America. and exit whatever continent, or country they r coming from. If your friend was granted a student visa, that says that she was able to satisfy the requirements for her to enter America on a student visa, but why she would want to marry someone that's illegal is beyond me. It's no secret that America has millions of illegals here but they are not obliged to the same priviliges as a permanent residence.

Actually there are some sponsors that are gettng involved in a fraudelent marriage and don't even know it, such as the girl from Long Island. More and more I'm hearing of these kinds of situations, just today a women from Benin was telling me that young men in Africa don't marry older women in Africa. But a man or women will marry an older person if it's to their advantage because they understand that marriage doesen't have to be
permanent.

I agree that it would make anyone a little upset knowing that others are beating the system and that your doing things the right way, when you and your fiance could of taken the short cut had you all of known, but maybe it's a good thing that you didn't know, because now you have more time to get to know each other better.

then it does work but if the INTENT was there and it is lied about then it does become visa fraud.

Hang in there, it takes a long time but you are doing what is right and can sleep at night knowing you did it the right way.

Thanks

I'm not really sure how the uscis will view the marriage since he was out of statis when he married her, however I have heard of worse situations with the ending story being the alien was allowed to stay and adjust statis.

I believe overstay and other things are pardoned through marriage to a USC and adjustment of status. I second what Paula&Minya said: there does not seem to be anything illegal here.

So why did we just waste 5 months of our lives waiting for a K1 Visa if we could have just stayed in the US and it is legal and there would be no problem...Why is everyone getting K1 visa's if we do not need too helpsmilie.gif

Hey, it's not my fault terryn, no need to be rude. I feel your pain.

I'm sorry, I did mean to be rude...I just can not stand this waiting anymore.....we have been just waiting for an interview date with Johannesburg for over a month now...and they still do not have any April dates.....and March was full......I did realize that we could have just got married before my fiancee's work visa expired and then just get a AOS....he prbably would have had it by now!

Hi everyone!!!

So, I have been seeing these kinds of lists on other forums and I thought we didn't have one so I made one biggrin.gif I just thought it would be a nice way for us to keep track of where everyone is at in the process. Plus, I was bored whistling.gif

As meticulous as I am, I am sure I am missing someone or something is wrong. All the info I got was what I got off the VJ timelines. I only included people who have logged onto VJ since September and have timelines (no timeline, no place on the list). As updates get made I will add/change the list as appropriate.

If something is wrong please PM me and I will make the changes.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDoctors in Cape Town, South Africa
QUOTE (NicolaVO @ Feb 10 2008, 02:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all
I was hoping there were some more South Africans out there also applying for the K1 visa as this questions pertains directly to you
How long after the NVC sends my stuff to the Consulate in Johannesburg, do I actually get told who the doctors are that I have to see for the medical. I heard there are only a handful on the lsit and none are in my home town, Port Elizabeth.
I'm heading to Cape Town in 2 weeks and even if I haven't heard from the embassy, I'd like to get the medical done.
Do you think this would be possible?

Hi we are waiting for our pk#3....if I hear anything about the doctors I will sent you a message...We are both in Cape Town since 11/11/07 just waiting this whole process out

David and I are in the hotel lobby on their computer waiting to take a cab to the Vancouver US Consulate. We were going to walk there but it's raining so hard we decided to come back in, wait a few minutes, and take a cab laughing.gif. After going over all the paperwork twice yesterday and twice this morning, I think we're ready to go! unsure.gif We walked around looking for the consulate for about an hour yesterday before finally asking a passerby where it was blush.gif. I think they try to hide it becaue it's tucked away in a little corner of a building. Anyway, review will follow sometime soon, if not today or tomorrow, we have a 17 hour busride back and will be home on Wednesday. Wish us luck guys! Getting pretty nervous!

We had our interview March 3rd. I was allowed to be in the interview with her as long as we didn't answer for eachother. We planned to pay the DS-157 on the friday before, and were unable to. it was so scary, we had to go to Manila and pray that we could pay our application fee the day of our interview. We were scheduled for 6:30, and we got there around 4:30 AM and spoke to a guard. He said to go to the bank at 9:00 and just come back after we get it paid. We got back to the embassy around 9:20 and were able to get in for ur interview. We had a male CO in room #27. He was very nice and asked us maybe 2 questions each.. we loaded the pre-screener with evidence. she seemed to want all we could give. letters, emails, call logs, and anything else we told her we had. We got out of there around 12:00. It was so amazing. we were scared they would re-schedule us since we had to pay the visa application fee the same day as interview. We asked if we could get visa pickup and he said it was up to us, and that the computer system in washington dc is acting up a whole lot, and he said it would most likely be friday or later with no guarantees. We decided to just pay delbros and have it delivered because we didnt feel like staying in manila. I'm gonna be in RP for 2 more weeks anyways so we just hope it gets delivered soon.

oh yeah..
