On May 9 the update on the USCIS website said that our address was changed and we didn't request for a change. We called and was told that it was a system error nothing to worry about. However today May 13 we are seeing an update for a RFE.. Now I have to wait for at least another month.. I really hope it's not the system error regarding the address change caused this.. I'm so frustrated .. Is there anyone with the same issue.. Can anyone help me understand..

Got a RFE because a letter of intent was not submitted by the both of us.. I thought the petitioner sends a letter of intent with the I129F form and the benefactor at the interview. Can someone please clarify?

On the letter of Intent I made a mistake and said that I got engaged on July 11 instead of June 11.. Do you think this will be an issue and if so how do I correct it? That's the only error and I am worried it will be a major issue. That is the only thing we submitted that has the engagement date..

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)How long to get approved I-212

It depends where you are in the Visa process. Those who have had their interview and were told at the interview they needed a waiver take priority. My husband's solo I-212 took 45 days from the time it was sent to the day it was approved.

If you have not yet had your interview and have applied for the I-212 before the interview then you are looking at up to 6 months, with the average being 4-6.

Oh and ours went to Vermont.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)In AP from Montreal Consulate - anyone else?

I've been lurking here for a while - since October 2011 to be exact. My spouse, who was my boyfriend at the time, was banned from the US for 5 years. I'm American, he's Canadian.

Long story short, we're married now and he is on his way to Anjou to get his Visa.

It was a very gut wrenching, emotional, terrifying time that I think could have ripped the strongest couples apart, yet somehow we managed to see this through. Our US immigration process really needs improvement!!

I can tell you that while it took some time, nothing was as horrible as sitting in AP in Montreal.

My husband's I-212 waiver was approved in 45 days. Our attorney was pretty impressed and to be honest, we were too. I expected 90, but 45 from the time it was sent to the time we got the approval, was pretty impressive.

As soon as my attorney emailed me telling me the I-212 was approved, I used the public inquiry form and contacted Montreal right away. They confirmed receipt of the approval and I was told to have my husband send his passport through Loomis and the turn around time was approximately 1 week. We went from one week, to four. The stories changed. At first, we were told that once they had the passport, it would take one week to process. Then, we were told it would be 4 weeks from the time the passport was mailed, then we were told 4 weeks from the time they received the passport, (as a side note: when stuff is mailed to Montreal, there is about a 5 day delay. It goes to an offsite security screening first, then it is delivered), then to "it's in administrative processing and there is no time frame".

When I heard the words "administrative processing" I nearly died. I knew what that meant and that it wasn't good. What I've come to discover is there are two different types of processing. One, is the standard one which is taking Montreal about 4-6 weeks to go through. It takes them about 2-3 weeks just to look at your case and then another 2ish to finalize the Visa, print it, and send it. Then there is the AP that you get the slip for. We ended up being in the first type.

So, the people who told my attorney the case would be finished in 4 weeks from when they received the passport were correct. In fact, the case was finished 1 day before the deadline and the passport was available for pick up the day of the deadline.

I can't tell you if any of my actions made a difference. My attorney told me to be patient. Easy to say when it's not your spouse trapped behind an imaginary line. I inquired about the case weekly to Montreal and nearly daily to DOS. In fact, Montreal got so annoyed with me they sent me an email and literally hilighted the words "We will contact you when there is an update to your case". That didn't stop me, I emailed them once a week anyway. Response time varied from same day to about 5 days. We mailed his passport on May 8th with Loomis confirming May 9th as delivering, but Montreal saying the 14th is when it reached their office. The Visa was issued June 13th - so that was 30 days.

My heart breaks for you that are still going through this. I hope some of my information has been useful and if there are any questions, I will answer as best I can. My husband and I are due to fly to the US on June 25.
