Our consulate is the one in Rio de Janerio Brasil. According to the website, because I filed my paperwork for my fiance here in the USA, I will be receiving my packet from NVC rather than the consulate. I am confused by this. Does it mean that I will have to submit all of my fiances paperwork such as police certificates, etc.? Or will he submit them at the interview in Brasil? I know that I can wait for instructions from NVC, but I would like to have all of the paperwork ready so it can be submitted immediately. Has anyone been through this process? An interview date sometime in April would work for us, and then it's just waiting till the summer to see each other. This very well could be the best summer vacation I have ever had. As far as this, my plan is to compile the notebook and bring it over with me when I go April 9th. So technically I have about 5 weeks, but really the only thing lacking is getting the tax transcripts from the IRS, which should be here in about a week, and the letter from my boss. The embassy emailed Josue today and told him that the interview would probably be in May or June. Bummer, I'd really love for him to come back with me April 19th. Which is why I just wrote (with the help of Josue's native Spanish) an email BEGGING and PLEADING with them to schedule an appointment during the week of the 13-17, as the 9th and 10th they are closed for holiday. If not, it was worth a shot. But we emailed them Saturday and heard back today right around 4-ish, so hopefully they will get back with us soon. Who knows, maybe they'll surprise us with their "compassion." If not, like you said, ThaitoUSA, at least we'll be together for summer. This will definitely be the best summer vacation I've ever had...with a close second being last summer when I met him and fell head-over-heels in love! Do you know if I should notify the USCIS of my address in Brazil? I'm from Brazil and still stuck in here....hehehehe I liked to read this posts and see some very positive messages. We are all in the same boat!!! Sometimes I think about the situation I am in, but then I find people that don't see their apouse for months... and I have mine here with me. He moved to Brazil when we got married, and he travels for 15 days or so every 3 months... he has to buy his Chron's medicine in the US, and see family as well... According to our lawyer, NVC is receiving our documents this week. I know there are people here in all sort of status on your process... is there anyone that can tell me an avarage period of time that will take from now till we get the interview schedulled? We just realize that we will have to take some drastic decisions if we don't get it till may. My husband needs a surgery, and his health insurance expires in june... that means that if untill may I don't have my visa, he will have to back to US alone and take care of his health... and I will have to stay here.... and God knows when we will see each other again........ I called NVC today and my status is that they are waiting on this affidavit support bill, or affidavit form. Does anybody know what is it? I'd be really glad if I could get some answers on my topic, cause I am very anguish and sharing your experience would probably help me with this. last week when I called NVC, I found out that they were requesting from my husband, some proof of domicile. The exemples that they gave me are contract that he is renting a house, or, we are paying mortgage on a house... but when we got married, my husband move down to Brazil so we could stay together till I get my visa. Well, all of his mail goes to his parents, his health insurance is an american on, the income tax we pay for the American gv., he keeps working for an american company and his bank account is in an American back. So, he gathered all of this documents and papers, and had his parents mailing it to NVC. I would like to know, what types of documents you used for this proof of domicile, and if you think that the documents we sent were correct. Thanks for the help. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	VISA APPROVED!!!!	I FINALLY GOT MY INTERVIEW AT RIO DE JANEIRO'S CONSULATE! MY VISA WAS APPROVED AFTER MORE THAN A YEAR OF WAITING!!! PRAISE THE LORD FOR THIS GREAT VICTORY!!! FOR THOSE WHO ARE GETTING THE INTERVIEW AT THE SAME CONSULATE, BESIDES THE WAITING, EVERYTHING GOES SMOOTHLY...
