US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHave I sent the correct foms?
Hey all,

I recently finishing compiling my list of documents for the inteview. The next stage was for me to send the check list to the Embassy in London. Which I did two days ago. I was a little confused about what else needed to go back as well. The link I was given in my letter said that I had to mail other forms such as the DS-230 Form Part I, Form DS-156, Form DS-157 and DS-156-K. When I phoned to ask about something on one of the forms I was told I only needed to send back the check list and bring the other forms to the interview.

My question is, is this correct? I'm not to sure myself, so anyone who can help please do. I have the other forms filled out ready to go if I need to send them.

Cheers for now.

Good day all!

I got my visa today!!!!!!

Well done you!!! What a relief that must be for you!! I am just waiting on police certificate from Cyprus blink.gif so I can get packet three sent off... how long did it take you to get your interview after yours was sent? And did you have your medical same day as interview or beforehand??? Not sure which is the cheapest/best way to go about that? Your advise would be appreciated. M x

Hey, yeah it is a relief! Its taken 7 months from the first NOA. I had my 2nd NOA mid Feb but didnt send what I needed until the end of March as I was in the US. Then I didnt send all the correct forms. I did a few days later and felt very lucky to get a 1st May interview. Before I got the interview I booked my medical, which turned out to be a week beore th interview. I live in Reading so its pretty easy getting to London within 25mins. I do feel for those who have to travel a long way to get to london. Its not cheap doing what you need for the visa and was happy that I didnt need to pay for hotels etc.
When I booked the medical, the next one they could give me was in two weeks. So I dont know how easy/ hard it is to get the interview and medical on the same day. The two places are not very far apart at all so it does make sense. The only hing I would say is that the medical place sends your results to the embassy within a few days. I dont think this matters too much as the embassy will just simply hold off sending the visa for those over lapping days.

I have been meaning to post since I arrived in the states on the 23rd December. I have been very busy with all the holiday stuff.
Anyway, I was very worried about being turned away at the POE as I have only small ties to the UK (contract worker and now living back at mums while my K1 is going through) I filled out the ESTA before I left and got authorised. I still had to fill out the VW document on the plane as the ESTA isn’t coming in until Jan 12th.
The plane trip was excruciating, milling over all the different questions and scenarios I may face. By the time I got to my POE officer I was a wreck. But she was perfectly nice to me. Asking who I was staying with I just said "my girl" then she asked how we met and I said "while I was playing in the US with my band last year" and she said how many days are you staying and I replied "90 days". Then she stamped my passport and told me to have a fantastic time. She didn’t ask to see anything from me. Not even a return ticket! It was a pleasant experience in the end, well easier then I imagined at least! So here I am in New York until March with my girl and we had a fantastic first Christmas together.
To sum up, I think people can be their own worst enemy in this situation. Answer the questions honestly, don’t panic and bring what supporting evidence of home ties you can…. Oh and smile!

Peace and love.
