That's where you went wrong--when it asks if your case is outside of the current processing time, answer yes and keep going like that until it tells you it's transferring you to a customer service representative. Maybe I am being too literal here . . . but the message says they will only help you if your application is 30 days past the processing time. The current processing time is 5 months. So 30 days past is 6 months, which for me will be Sept. 13th. If I call back and continue with the prompts and answer "yes" the person who answers will say "Gee it's not 30 days past 5 months yet" right? I've been in the car most of the day running around but following on my crackberry. Will you just call already??? They don't keep a record of you calling. I promise! You won't get punished. I'll tell you a secret.....I call all of the time. I am what they probably call a nuisance caller. I push the buttons until I get someone and they very patiently tell me exactly what they can, each time. What if you are already approved??? When I got divorced I sent in a request for a new social security card. After 4 months I still did not heard a word. I called the national number, and then they left a message at my local office. The result? The person who was processing my social security card name change paperwork quit! The paperwork was still on his desk because they hadn't hired a replacement or moved his work to someone else's desk! Let's hope that didn't happen to my I-129F! I am thinking it will be very complicated to file taxes with his income being out of country in 2009, and could delay my return. Also I am a single mom (head of household), so I think I get more of a refund as "head of household" than as married. . . On New Year's Eve last year we broke a chicken wishbone at midnight and we both made our wishes. I wished that we would get married in a year. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Can Canadian marry in US before application process?	Thanks for all the info everyone! I hate the idea of being apart for even longer (we have been long-distance for almost a year now) .. but it seems like the CR-1 saves some extra steps in the whole process and wouldn't require him to be here without a job for several months while waiting for work authorization if we go the K-1 route? Hi Bellas, I just wanted to add my 2 cents. We did the Visa thing the "proper" way, K1 Fiance Visa first. Even though it was hard being apart, it really gave us the time to make sure that we wanted to do this. It is a tough process, and after going through it, we both knew for sure what we were getting into. Sean was the one who had to give up everything to marry me, so I was glad that we didn't get married right away (we did think about getting married right away before we knew about the Visa process). It took us a total of 8 months to get the fiance Visa approved. I think that in many cases that is quicker than the time you spend apart if you get married first (CR-1). I would highly recommend doing the K1 Visa. I also went to Montreal with Sean for the interview at the Consulate. It was a great experience. Good luck in whatever you decide. EDIT: True, you can't work right away with a K-1 Visa. We got our EAD about 2 months after we filed for AOS. In our case, we could live on my income so we didn't feel rushed.
