Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Any Dutch/American couples??

So another quick question, before I go and spend 60 euros when I don't really have to.

For the social security number, the instructions say that I need 2 pieces of ID. But everyone says that they only needed their passport and an I-94 (not sure about the number?) that you get online since recently.

So should I get an ID kaart as well or will my passport + that paper be enough to apply for a SSN?

I was approved yesterday at my interview, happiness :D

Couple of questions for those that were also approved. How long did the CAEC website stay in the additional processing stage?
And how long did it take before you got your passport back? I see that AlissaCarly got his/her on a Saturday after he/she was approved Tuesday so after 4 days. Is this about the same for everyone else?

Congratulations!

I just got my interview date, Oct 21st. So hopefully if all goes well I can book my early November flight :D

For those who just had the interview, when you register your date on the website that the letter in packet 4 tells you to go to. When/how did you pay for the interview? I followed all the instructions on there and I never was prompted to pay anything, I have a confirmation page that says to print that page and take it with me.

Am I just blind or confused or just clueless on how/where to pay for the visa interview? :(

Hi there! I filled in the information of the Amsterdam consulate, except for the contact person, which I didn't know. Left that line blank. The gemeente said the accompanying letter from the USCIS that I printed and gave them was enough evidence that the consulate was really requesting my police certificate.

Good luck!

Thanks for the information :D

I don't have packet 3 yet, so I'm going to add a copy of my NOA2 and a print out of the embassy website where it says I'll need a VoG. Those 2 should be enough proof to get one, I hope.

So for the VoG, I'm a little bit confused. The form that I get off of my Gemeente's website has 2 parts. 1 that I fill in and the next part is "Invullen door Organisatie / Instelling die de VoG  verlangt."

Do I fill in the information of the embassy here or do I leave all of those blank?

We just got our Alien registration #. (Is that the same thing as NOA1?) and now we're just waiting. The only maddening thing about this is the fact that I know it could be 3 weeks or 5 months before we get a response. :(

Good luck to all of you and congratulations to those who have gotten their visas! :D

Getting a return flight is often cheaper, unless you really want to fly KLM it's also often cheaper with other airlines.
I would however cancel the return flight as soon as you get there.
There's been people that said they had run in to trouble because they bought a two-way ticket and never canceled and there's been some that said they had no trouble and never canceled.

But always better to play it on the safe side.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsQuestion about petitioner's birth certificate.

Hi,

We have just sent out our package and there's one thing that's been troubling me a little bit. We followed the guide that's provided here on this website and we did everything like it says except for one thing.

Her (petitioner's) birth certificate had writing on the back of it and it was scribbled out so we only mailed them a copy of the front of the birth certificate.

Now, here it says this:

11. Copy of the Birth certificate (front and back) for the US Citizen or a copy of ALL pages of the US Citizen's passport issued with a validity of at least 5 years or a copy of the US Citizen's naturalization certificate (front and back). This is used to establish citizenship.

Is it going to be a problem or a reason to get a RFE if only the front side is provided?

Any answer would be appreciated, maybe by anyone who has previously only sent in the front copy of their birth certificate?

Thanks in advance.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHave any March filers gotten NOA2 or your case even updated since NOA1?

I have one of the earliest NOA1 dates amongst the March filers and from what I've seen almost no one has had any update. My case hasn't even been touched since the alien # change.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMarch 2014 Filers

I appreciate your response... Thank you.

But, every petitioner on here filing for a K-1 visa whose fiancé lives in the Philippines and filed in March has gotten NOA2 or RFE, except 1 or 2 people who have not been active on visajourney.com for a while.  So, again, I am only referring to petitioners filing for beneficiary that lives in the Philippines.  Right now the avg. days from NOA1 to NOA2 thru TSC and Philippines is 31 days.  There are many petitioners that get the visa within 95 to 120 days from NOA1, at least right now... This may of course change in the future.

I'm simply reading the self-reported data here on visajourney.com.

Thanks.

Ah the Philippines had a state of emergency a while back. I believe a lot of people from the Philippines were able to request expedited service. But as far as I'm aware the state of emergency is no longer in effect.

I'm not sure if you had a time-frame where you should've had put in an expedite request or if it was done automatically. Maybe they really are stuck on your security issues and if that's the case it's just a matter of waiting, which sucks.

I hope you hear back from them soon though.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMarch 2014 Filers

Well it's been almost 98 days since NOA1, still no NOA2.  I submitted an inquiry over the phone, since everyone else on visajourney from March has either already gotten NOA2 or at least an RFE - talking about Philippines here, so please don't slam me on here about complaining that is taking a long time.

I received an email today from USCIS:

"We have placed your case on a processing hold because the required security checks remain pending. Until we receive the results of these security checks, we cannot move forward on your case. We require the results of security checks before we make a decision on any pending case.

We cannot predict when we will receive the results of these security checks. Please be assured that we will make every effort to make a decision in your case as soon as the security checks are complete."

I was afraid of this.  I knew their was someone with my name that uses Western Union, and is on the fraud alert list, so it doesn't surprise me that my name was flagged by USCIS, or at least that's what I believe has happened.

Does anyone have a comment/thought about the email I received?  Has anyone else received this type of email, and if so, how long did it take to get approved?

Thanks.

Security check is usually their go-to answer. However I'm not sure where you got your information from though. You're a March TSC filer and almost (if anyone at all) no one has gotten past their NOA1 as March TSC filers.
The March filers that have gotten an RFE or NOA2 are CSC filers. CSC is handling the i129-F's considerably faster than TCS so that should explain why you saw some March filers with an RFE or NOA2 already.

As for how long it takes for the security checks, no one knows. It's either the same automatic response they're feeding everyone to make them shut up or there really is something that needs more attention security wise. There's no real time-frame for security checks so all you can do is wait for an answer.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMarch 2014 Filers

All of this is a completly Joke!! So all of us we have to wait till Sep ? So why they say 4 or 5 month is this F.. process going to take more? Arrrggg all the cases are the same unless you have a disaster but I'm not agree that they say other cases are most important that I-129F or I-130 .. All of us want to be with our families Totally Unfair..

I know this is frustrating but you need to understand that in the end we are all just packages of papers to people doing their job. Most don't really care about each individual case, they don't particularly care if you're happy or sad, they're just doing their job.

And no, we don't have to wait for September. That was just his explanation as to why CSC is faster at the moment. In September they will prioritize different paperwork and therefore they might process them slower.

Keep in mind that the 5 months is an estimate, and even then the wording on the website is wrong. It's 5 months + 29 days, so basically it's 6 months before you are out of "normal processing times".

Early March filers will probably start seeing NOA2's somewhere near mid to end July or early August.

November was for me and its my birthday today... Not the same without her. Wish I could celebrate it with her.

Gefeliciteerd, not that a stranger congratulating you on a lonely birthday is any conselation :(

I haven't seen her since January. Both her and I were planning for me to fly over there around September, even if the NOA2 came early.

But now we are actually considering the fact that even September may not even be possible if the NOA takes it's full 2 month course.

What's even more annoying in the whole matter is we sent our paperwork somewhere around the midle of February. But with all the winter storms there was so much delay that it took an entire half month before we even got our NOA1. That just makes the wait a little bit more annoying.

Tip for all June TCS filers:

Make your own "June TSC filers topic" and DO NOT check back on this topic for the CSS filers. I don't say this to create a divide between people who are in the same boat. But to save a lot of you what can be a very depressing situation. Right now California is handing out NOA2's on average in 2 months or less while Texas is going beyond 5 months for more filers.

This is creating a lot of animosity between VJ members and it becomes a very frustrating situation, which is very sad.

Good luck to all of you and I hope a lot of you are directed to California so you can hopefully get a quick NOA2.

Yes. Kind of annoying. Btw I forgot to ask what do I have to bring again? Passport photos, vacc book and money right? Of course passport but cannot leave the house without it lol.

Good luck this week also! Let me know how it went :-)

Yes, that's all you need. I brought the letter that had the instructions and interview date in it as well. Just keep in mind that the passport photos have to be U.S size. Which is 2 inches by 2 inches or 51MM by 51MM. So regular passport photos you get made at most Dutch photo shops won't be accepted. You need 4 in total, 2 for the medical and 2 for the interview.

I just realized, it will be up to 4 months before you are able to work. This sucks. I have a job interview in an hour (via Skype) and probably have to tell them I won't be able to work for another 4 months or (this includes all the waiting time and processing times).

Yeah, one thing that really bothers me about the U.S is their timelines for paperwork and official business. We're used here in the Netherlands to be told 1 to 2 weeks and usually get it exactly in that time frame.

In the U.S you get told 1 week to 6 months on various things and most of the time it's on the later end of the estimation. It's something we'll have to get used to, I guess. :(

Which one are you missing? Most of them you can get at your own doctor. CZ covers all shots up to 100% (DTP).

What does the medical mean anyway? Just some blood work, xray and check on your vaccs?

I think I'm missing the DTP. I'll look into it if I can get it from my own doctor before I fly over, that would be nice.
And since you're going to the same doctor I assume you'll go through it the same way I did.

You'll have to fill out some forms, one of which you bring to the xray place. Then the doctor calls you in, takes your blood and you have to answer a bunch of medical questions. Most are pretty basic (have you had cancer? chickenpox? an STD?). Then you take off your shirt, he will measure your blood pressure and listen to your heart and lungs.

You pay the lady (145 euros + any vaccinations) and you're sent off to the xray place. Which is about a 10-15 minute almost straight walk. I barely spent any time there, I walked in and I was the only one there. You go in, take your shirt off and stand infront of the xray machine for 5 seconds and you're done. You pay the 50 euros fee and you can go back home.

You can only pay in cash, I just brought 300 euros and deposited the left over money back when I was done just to make sure I'd have enough for everything.

I want to fly out on the 3rd. But it is annoying when your future mother-in-law tells you to hold your ground at her convience. She probably doesn't get that I need to book a ticket before I can actually fly anywhere.

I will go through Detroit. It's a quieter airport than ATL so I have got that going for me. That is the only criteria for me, DTW, or no flight at all haha. Smaller layovers (especially the morning flight you only have to wait 2 hours which is plenty for that airport) the afternoon flights have 4 hour layover to my final destination.

I was going to fly out on the third as well because it was going to be a cheaper flight. But the prices changed somewhat and now I'll be leaving on the 1st of Nov if my interview goes well.
Only an hour and a half layover in Iceland, which is a nice quiet airport. But first, the medical in 11 hours from now. I hate needles :(

Also congratulations Fishandchips! :D

How did you pay for the interview? They didn't include a page or anything where it says please transfer funds to this address in packet 4.

Is there a website you have to use? On usvisa-info.com there is nothing. Just a way to register the appointment.

After I registered I realized I did it wrong. When you log in you can select "add applicant"  on the homepage and then from the drop down menu select the K visa option. Following the instructions for that should get you to a step where you have to pay the fee before you can proceed.

It is free and it works very well. It worked for me. Are you using your computer or phone to call? If you need help you can PM me and I can tell you exactly how I did it.

Because the wait times will easily exceed 30 minutes per call. And at perhaps 50 cents or more per minute that is going to be a hefty phone bill if you call more than once.

All you need is your USCIS number and information about you and your fiancee (Name, date of birth). The lady also asked me to confirm my fiancee's email and phone number and then gave me my case number after I asked.

I was very nervous about getting an RFE. When we send in the paperwork, the passport pictures of me weren't U.S size. I googled/looked up/asked about this and I had gotten mixed answers. Some people who had done the same thing got an RFE asking for U.S sized pictures, others did not.

So when we first got the email from USCIS I was slowly reading through it and once I saw the word "approved" I may very well have jumped through the roof. I was just expecting to get an RFE.
Now I sincerely hope I can get an interview within 1-1.5 months. But looking at timelines the average seems to be more 2 months. I just want to be there by October/November :(

1200 dollars? Are you planning to fly first class? :P

Use skyscanner.nl and you can search by entire month, I looked for Florida for the months October to December and the tickets go as low as 300 euros. They're all with 1 stop, the ones that are direct go over 1000 euros. So unless you are hellbent on not having a layover somewhere, then you shouldn't even come close to 12000 tickets from Amsterdam to Florida.
