When i did my AOS i sent in a copy of the medical records .I had made copies of everything before i handed them in at K1 interview for my own records.
On my cover page listing what was in the package i put copies of medical records ( originals handed in at customs on entry to usa ) I did not receive a ref and got approved rather quicky. Thats not to say it works all the time. I figured as you dont have alot of time to get married and everything organised i would risk the chance of a ref, then if need be get it re done by a doctor in USA. I think you have about 6 weeks to return a REF but am not sure on the one.
some people get approved without redoing the medical some dont it just come down to who is reviewing you case i think.

angela

Just a note for others doing K1 when you have your medical done ask the doctor if they can provide you with a copy of all the paper work for your records, even if they send the original to the consulate ( some doctors do some dont ) they just might give you a copy. it could save you some time later on doing AOS

Hi everyone hope you are all settling in and adjusting over here

Kath how you doing mate cong on the licence and job your just zooming ahead

SHARYNA i think this was you hope this helps
Someone asked about california drivers licenses I got mine last year basically once you have your social security numb and your green card you take all that and you passport, marriage cert to dmv and sit your written test. well thats once you get the handbook from your local polic station and read it lol. I didnt have any problems at all I went for my driving test about 1 month after i got my learners and it was easy.

JUST A NOTE TO REMEMBER

ALL STATES HAVE DIFFERENT RULES WHEN IT COMES TO DRIVING ON YOUR AUSSIE LICENSE.
IN CALIFORNIA IT STATES IN THE HAND BOOK FOR NEW RESIDENTS WHEN YOU MAKE YOUR HOME IN CALIFORNIA YOU MUST APPLLY FOR YOUR CALIFORNIA DRIVERS LICENSE WITHIN 10 DAYS. ( thats if you want to drive )

That means once you have your green card you can no longer legally drive with your aussie license. now if you happen to get pulled over by CHP and they ask for id you show your green card you must be driving with a calif license. they will want to see it. and on a nother note some dmv offices will take your aussie license from you if it is still valid as you are not allowed to have both once your a resdient. so i didnt tell them and i now still have it as a long lost memory

hope that helps if you need anythink just let me know

yes you can get the fingerprints and police check done anytime you dont have to wait for the packet for that Just go to your police station and take photo id and tell them you need them done for a visa for usa. it is valid for 12 months.
also to help with the medical if you go to your normal doctor you can get a blood test done to see what immunisations you need. i did this and i got a print out from my doctor saying that everything was up to date i only need a tetnus booster which i got from mt doc ( on medicare ) so when i went to the consulate doc i had the print outs from my gp and he used them as proof. i also made a copy of them before i went to for my own records.

hey everyone

congratulations to all those who have got visas and are waiting interviews

Jodee i lost your email address

Ive had some hassles of my own i got my cal drivers licence but the dam legal department of the dmv put a hold on it. When i rang them to find out why apparently in there ins department i am still listed in my maiden name that i entered the states with and my green card is in my married name as is my drivers licence they said they cant connect the 2 names so we went back to the dmv took my passport marriage certificate and green card and after an hour and half of argueing and them ringing there legal dep i think they have finaly released it apparently the ins can take alot of time to update all there different data bases mind you i got my green card in june last year.

Kath well mate all i can say is go Carlton the mighty blues

also i found this site that sells four n twenty pies in usa it says they are made with traditional aussie products

Well i went for my California drivers license yesterday and passed with flying colours. I got 100% and the drive only took about 10 mins. So now after the new year i will start job hunting. The cold here in the desert is unreall. It has been down to -10 and -11 ( aust temp ) most mornings but the worst part unlike in aust there is no frost But dam it has been cold. hey AussieDude.

on your medical forms that you get from sydney in packet 3 on the front of, i think it is the first form right down the bottom there is a place that has to be signed by the doctor performing your medical, blood test, and xray. So if you go and get the blood test for hiv and syphilis done at your regular doc make sure you take this form and your passport with you. who ever takes your blood for these test has to sign it to say that yes this is the person whos name appear on the blood test and that they have sighted your passport. You also have to have this done for your xray as well. when i had my medical in Tassie the consular doctor that i rang said those test had to be done by him or someone authorised by him but others have had no problem geting them done before hand, so maybe just ring the consular doctor office and find out. cant hurt to ask the question. If done with cons doc it will cost you cash no medicare. On your blood test for immunisation your normal gp can do a blood test for those and you can just get a print out to take with you.... Make sure you photo copy those print outs if you get them and keep them for your records. you might need them for adjusting your status once in the usa. hope this helps.. if you need anything else feel free to pm me

Im not sure if it still applys but as far as i know you must have a letter from your doctor for any
prescription drugs that you bring into america. The chances of you being searched on arrival are slim to none but just in case get that letter otherwise they will take your medication. When i came over for my first visit it was my doctor that told me about the letter. so she did it on doctors letter head and stated the name of medication and that it was required, my name etc.....
