US Embassy and Consulate Discussion	How to send documents to Philippine fiance	Remember the old Fedex slogan? "When it absolutely, positively has to get there overnight..." Well, from the US, overnight is impossible. But the following is true: "When is absolutely, positively has to just get there..." hehehe Fedex is a little expensive, but they get it there. Not tried UPS yet. I just can't risk a delay just because documents did not get to where they are going in a timely manner. 3-4 days to get there. 4-6 days back. Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 MARCH 2012 FILERS	Hi, I have a quick question and was wondering if anyone knew the answer since I am still not clear on it. When can you apply for citizenship? By that I mean, when can you send off the papers? AFTER the "resident since" date on your greencard or is it 90days prior to that window like it was for the ROC? For example, I have been a LPR since May 20, 2010. When can I send off my N400 papers? Will it be only on/after May 20, 2013 or can I mail the package out sometime in February (90 days before)? Thanks ! 90 days before your 3 yr residency aniversary. So, if the residency date on your 1st green card (2yr conditional green card) is, let's say, July 1, 2010, then you are eligible to file for citizenship 90 days prior to July 1, 2013. However, I still haven't heard anything so far - I noticed they've started to approve Apr. cases!! I don't know what's going on with my case, really hope to hear something before the holidays...sigh....am I alone? are there someone else (March filers) here still waiting for their approval? Philippines	need help	I smoked for 18 years. I tried to quit with nicoderm patches. It worked for a little while, but you are just replacing nicotine for nicotine. I used chantix and i quit after my first 4 week prescription. About the effects, well it did tend to make me "zone out" after about 1 hour after taking it. Nothing serious. It sometimes will give you crazy dreams until your body gets used to it, usually good dreams though. hehehe. My sister, who smoked for over 30 years, quit using chantix. It did tend to make her sick to her stomach. So she cut the pills in half and spread the dosage out during the day. I won't sugar coat it. It has some side effects. But it did help me quit. You still need discipline, but the chantix takes the edge off. Plus, it makes cigarettes taste aweful. Give it a shot, it worked for me. I didn't think my sister would EVER quit. Philippines	One way ticket!	If I am not mistaken, Philippines immigration will not grant you an entry visa unless you show proof on an ongoing or departure plane ticket. I think if you purchase a "cheap" plane ticket to a neighboring country within the 21 day visa window, you should be golden. Philippines	At&t Cell Phones connection	I have had the same problem. However, it seems for me that the problem has improved somewhat. I can confirm that there are connection issues in Asia right now. My SO has Smart cell service in Phil. I usually go online to buy her load sometimes. But The last day or thwo there has been significant problems adding load. The website also says that there are internet and connection problems in Asia right now. BTW, If you are using AT&T here in the us and calling philippines, I use +63 then the number. not 01163. Philippines	Question about medical and previous records	My fiancee had an operation previously, SLMEC asked her for the records of it. However, she does not have them. She has requested the documents from the previous hospital but they are having a hard time locating them. They still told her to return on day two for immunization even if she does not have the records. Can this hold up the medical release? We stil have nearly a month before our interview. Philippines	Sending documents neede by fiance	I send by fedex all the time. I have not encountered any duties or fees. On the declaration section of the waybill, I put "documents" for the description and a declared value of $1. Unless you put money or objects of greater value in the envelope, $1 declared is ok. If you put say jewelry or mone in with you documents, then you should probably declare it's value in case your pacage is opened by customs. Philippines	We get pink!!!!!	We were near the end of the day apparently, so the CO was very short with us. He asked names and dates of birth. Then asked if ever married before. Asked when and how we meet. Then asked if we know this particular person. We did not. Come to find out that they mixed photos and fingerscans in the computer with another applicant. After that scarry moment, he quickly sifcted through the evidence and than said, "I'm going to approve your application." Everything was orderly. Our appointment was at 7am. we were done by 11:30. Philippines	Need some HELP!	I would call AA and check if her seat is occcupied. And if she had a cellphone, unless it is 5 band 3g gsm, it won't work in Narita. My Globe prepaid didn't work in Narita, my US 3g phone did. I would call the airline and rest easy. Narita is a VERY good airport and the staff there always seemed to me to be very helpful and friendly. I would venture a guess that she made it to her connection just fine. Philippines	Question about interview in usem manila	I think it is beneficial for the petitioner to be there. Just in case they decide to ask you any questions. I saw a few beneficiaries that did not have successful interviews. In those cases, the petitioner usually was not there. They mostly asked my fiancee questions, but they did ask me a few quick questions to clarify some things. I would go if you could. Philippines	k1 denied	If you got the 221g, and can appeal, I would suggest to go over your photographs and the proof from your in-person meeting. When we filed for our K1, we had photos from our first greeting and backed up the photos with proof. I had photos from where my wife (fiancee at the time) got her hair done and also included a copy of the receipt where I paid for it with my credit card. Boarding passes that placed me in the Philippines at the time the photos were taken and receipts of purchases that backed everyting up. I also included receipts of remittances. I was also there at the interview (this might have helped more than anything). I guess I'm trying to say to put yourself in the shoes of the CO and answer the questions you would ask in their place. Philippines	If petitioner goes to the interview, does he get questioned too?	I went to my fiancee's visa interview. The CO did ask both of us questions, but it was only confirming what was in the information packet that was submitted with the application. Just make sure you and your fiancee know everything that is in the application. We actually rehersed a little before the interview day. If your relationship is legit, you have nothing to worry about. It really does depend on the CO. We actually had a harder time with the pre-screener. I personally think it helps that both are there. I'm not sure if it really matters, but, making a special trip half way around the world to support your fiancee with her interview would demonstrate legitimacy to me if I was the CO. Just sayin'. Philippines	Fastest Method to send Documents	Mayby I could shed some light. I had to send documents to my fiance at the time (now my wife btw) that included our final papers for her embassy interview. This package had esentially "ME" in it. Copies of birth certificates, copies of passports, bank documents, etc. Everything she needed for her interview. You can emagine if it fell into the wrong hands. Due to unforseen circumstances, my wife had to relocate to a different province and move in with her mom. This happened while the package was "out for delivery". So, I was like, "HOLY COW" my whole identity is floating around somewhere in the Philippines. Fedex managed to re-route my package from Northern Luzon to Manila, two diffenent times to get it to the correct person. In the end, they called her and they met and she signed for the package. Fedex was incredible in handling the situation and my papers got to my wife safely. And...the reroutes were at no charge. Yes, Fedex is a bit expensive, but they earned my business. Philippines	7 days to go	For future reference..... If you are a US Green Card holder, they will waive most of Philippine Travel Tax. I think it is only P200 or something like that, if you show your green card. If you only have a Visa...then you still pay the travel tax and the terminal fee when you leave.
