US Citizenship General Discussion	selective service system	i have sent a letter to Selective services for status check 3 month ago; however; N400 form says, if you are a male who lived in the US between 18th and 26th birthdays, in any status except lawful nonimmigrant status check box of yes or no. if you check yes it asks for registration info if no you just skip it. ? i was in the US after i turned 25 and my visa was still good after my 26th b.day. i would assume to check Box that indicates No. i know i need to register with the service but as far as n400 app. concerned where am i standing. any help would greatly appreciated. waiting Edited by waiting2008, 02 September 2009 - 01:02 PM.	waiting2008	Male	0	2009-09-02 13:01:00

Do i still need to register. i have asked the IO during the interview about that and he was not sure if registration needed to be done after getting the GC or after entering the US. Any idea? Sorry to hear though, that they had problems with your fingerprints. Hope you get that resolved soon and that you get your oath letter after that. As for what to do in your situation, if I were you, I would book an INFOPASS appointment, to get this further clarified with an immigration officer. In the meantime, you can go to your local police station and see what they say there too, as they would know more about what specific background checks they have and what are needed for immigration purposes. Try to get one that covers nation-wide federal FBI checks (not just local background checks), as those are the types of detailed background checks that the USCIS preforms. As well, you might want to re-post your post in a separate message post/thread, to see if more VJers can help you there.... Maryces21-Congratulations too, on having your oath ceremony recently. September 2009 Applicants	Doodles-Congrats on getting an oath date on January 21!...Wow, what a surprise that the USCIS would be calling to invite you to a special ceremony, and would leave a voicemail about it too. Hmm...I wonder what the "special" part of your ceremony is all about? Is it at a special place or location? Are there some special guests attending? Is it to mark a special occasion? September 2009 Applicants	waiting2008, I think its something to do with NC Field Offices cause when i was in for my inteview she asked me questions as to where does ur husband live, and she wanted to see him. When i told her he was in the waiting room she printed out the approval paper and asked me to call him to the door.... Thank God i dragged him with me to the interview just incase they pulll this stunt...and when he met him at the waiting room he was asked to see his Drivers licencse just to prove that we have been staying in the same houseand then i had towait to get my oath letter... goodluck karenros, I was asked the questions but never asked if my spouse was with me at the time of interview. Io asked for ID and showed him Passport , never asked me for additional paperwork that was asked from me to bring, I even asked him if he wanted to see them, he said dont worry about it. (btw..why did you have an interview for your 10yr green card...was it random thing, or something else?). And yeah, it doesn't seem right that they would call your marriage a fraud, even though it isn't based on the evidence and everything else. How insulting, indeed! Don't worry though, you're almost there.....Just this last interview to go... Good luck and hope you hear some good news soon. Ant Ant During the 10yr gc interview We were told that it was a random pick by the system. i was never told a reason for the allegation. i have talked to an immigration attorney regarding what happaned; attorney said it could be nothing too. US Citizenship General Discussion	N-400 ... September 2009 Applicants	Waiting2008-Congrats about passing the civics/history portion of your interview. I can't believe though, that they would say that your marriage is a fraud, even though you submitted evidence that proves otherwise, and that you were going to show them to the IO (even though they didn't want such). Are you sure that's what they said to you exactly? On the bright side, they did say that they were going to send something to you in the mail. So who knows, maybe you were actually approved and that will be your oath letter with the oath date instead. If it is not, then respond to whatever they send you, accordingly. Hope you hear from them soon. And yes, do keep us updated here about that too. Ant P.S. Your wife doesn't need to be there for the N-400 interview...so I don't think you should worry about that there....As long as you have the evidence, that is all that is required there... Ant, On the paper that was given at the end of the int. had 2 lines marked with 'x' ; one of them says i have passed the civic/history/english portion. other line says that a decision can not yet be made on my case. also an indication that i will receive mail regarding the outcome. And yes, i was told exact words. It is irritating to go thru 2 interviews ( keep in mind i have had my 10 yr GC int 4-5 mnts ago ) and now all this. Did your wife came with you at the interview? Cheers There was no shortage of paperwork, everything that was asked for on the checklist and more. Even included pics, car titles, insurance, bank accounts utility bills, etc. i was asked to bring last 3 years income tax return records. I had them with me, and asked IO if he wanted see them. US Citizenship General Discussion	N-400 ... September 2009 Applicants	Hello everyone, Just got back from my interview; it was not as i expected, I was questioned about every dot. IO went thru 3 large files, i've got drilled politely. asked me some basic questions about the civic, gov, and history. Who was the 1st president, What was the main concern during cold war, Where is statute of liberty, What is the name of US economy, Where is the White House, Who is the Governor of My state. At the end of the int. he said there is a suspicion of we have a fradulent marriage and told me that a decision can not yet be made, gave me a copy that has 'x' marked says: You passed the the test and will mail me something regarding the outcome. Me and my spouse are not in the greatest spirit now but we are just hoping there wont be any other road block. Any input would be greatly appreciated. The officer was very polite and jovial. He said he was running late on his appointments so he was really rushing through with my interview. He asked me about my job and marriage. Then he started going over my application line by line. I had one speeding ticket and i had indicated yes for "have you ever been cited". I told him it was paid and taken care of. He did not ask for any proof for it and he changed the answer to No. Next he made me read and write a sentance in English. Asked 6 civic quenstions. 1) Capital of California 2) Who signs the bill into law 3) What is the supreme law of the land 4) What is an amendment 5) Who did the US fight in WWII 6) Who is the speaker of the House All corrrect. He said I had passed the interviewe but cannot approve me today because I would complete 5 years of permanent residency only by 9th Dec. He said I should expect the Oath sometime in Dec/Jan. The document check list I received only listed passports, DL and IL. I am not sure how much more documents I should take with me. I dont think you should take anything else from what they asking for. My letter requests certified documents regarding a DWI-related arrest I had in 2000. Still waiting for the interview letter. By the way i was told something about my file not being found and them waiting for it to be brought to thier office from God knows where. On monday the 26th i got a letter from the USCIS saying am in queue for biometrics, i was like what??? a whole month after filling? and they also stated it might take up to 6o days from the date on the notice to notify me of any changes. I was angry, and went ahead and booked an infopass appointment for this Friday. This morning i woke up with a text from USCIS saying a notice was mailed on Monday 26th requesting additional evidence (which am assuming would be the biometrics appointment). I feel someone somewhere forgot my file somewhere and it took the service request to wake him or her from their slumber. Anyway, am waiting to see what the RFE is all about and hopefully its the biometrics ( which i intend to do via walk-in anyway). So for those who are awaiting one thing or the other, better not wait, just call and put in a service request and see what that does. Hanhan-Hope that the CRIS status change for you is the interview letter and hope you get that soon in the mail too. Keep us updated as to when you get that letter and when your interview date is too. My case was approved in November 2006, and it was touched again on 04/28/2007, which is oddly enough, the date of our first wedding anniversary. Since then, there have been no further touches on my I-485 case. Hmmm..... I think that the USCIS touches cases after they have been approved, so as to check up on things, and/or to update their files. Since you applied for N-400/citizenship recently, my guess is that they touched your I-485 case recently, to make sure that you are eligible for such, and/or they want to finally update and close that former I-485 case so that they can move on to the N-400 citizenship stage of the immigration game for you. Either that, or when they were updating your N-400 file, they looked at the I-485 file instead by mistake, which triggered a touch in the system. Regardless, a touch on a previous case is not a bad thing, especially since it has been approved already. It's more important though, to look at touches for current and pending cases, instead of previous cases. So keep updated with the N-400 touches instead. Then again...touches are kind of unrealiable anyways...As anything can trigger a touch, really (lol..spilt coffee, perhaps?)....So just wait for the updates in the mail, as that's the most reliable and up to date information that they have on your file and has what you need to respond to next. I never got one of those (I only got the white letter and the interview letter). Not sure if that's a good thing or not, but I think yellow letters are ok, so it at least show that they are working on your file and what to expect when you do get your interview letter. From what i have read in VJ some of those emails are blanket emails that sent out and people never recieved actual letter for additional evidence. Have you guys recieved any email like that ? Snj_immigrant-In answer to your question: The only way to get an NOA is by snail-mail, from what I know and from what I received. Lol...So yes, expect to "camp out at your mailbox" until you get such. Don't worry though, it shouldn't be long before you get such. My guess, based on your timeline, is that you should get it by this week or so. If they cashed your check/cheque in, I'm pretty sure that an NOA is on the way for you. Once you get your NOA, then you can sign up for e-mail updates on the USCIS website, and can check your case further from there and from your e-mail....If you don't get your NOA, call the mis-information/USCIS customer service line and they should be able to help you further there. Thanks, Ant Ant, I am not sure that my case will move faster since we just had an interview but if it would that would be great Actually, if you are picked for an interview usually the process takes longer; because I-751 interview will be done almost a year after filing the case with USCIS. If we were not picked for an interview i believe it takes around 6-8 months to get 10 yr GC. So we have waited longer than average approval time. As for Uscis people.
