Are you sure you filed "single"? Or "married but filing separately"? Because that's cheaper than filing "married and jointly". That's what we've been filing - married filing separately. In this case each spouse has a separate 1040 but the name of the other spouse is also listed in the same form. That is definitely not illegal and wouldn't be a negative in the eyes of USCIS because you're still filing "married".

Mom2lilNoah, there are A LOT of cubicles there. It's a large office. And yes - I would agree with Rebelheart - why not ask for the same day oath? They're pretty understanding there, I think that should be able to help you!! biggrin.gif And your boy will have a lot of fun in that waiting area. Ha ha!! Hello people!
Well, here we are - done with the interview, and I'm finally an American citizen!! kicking.gif
The interview took place in Atlanta yesterday at 1:25 pm. They first were going to schedule me for the oath on December 1, but then the lady that was interviewing me asked me where we lived. When she found out that it's a 5-hour drive (and we came with the baby - she saw us in the waiting room), she asked her supervisor if my case could be finished today and they swore me in individually in the office!!! That was so extremely cool of them - very good experience of becoming an American citizen!
The questions were easy - very easy. I was not even asked to show any joint documents. She just asked me to verify my address, and mine and my hubby's DOBs.
So voila! Done!

Thank you very much!! Makes me feel much better - we are planning a trip to Russia to show our 5-month-old baby Liam off to my grandmothers and not having the Russian passport would really screw all the plans up!! Thanks once again!!!

Beats me! Maybe that's because we live in Georgia - Brunswick, GA - which is a little town 40 minutes away from the Florida border. I guess they are sending people to the closest center to get the fingerprints taken, but you have to stay within your state for the interview??? Just a guess... I asked a guy from work who got naturalized in 2007 - the same situation: fingerprints in Jacksonville, Fl, interview - Atlanta AND the same day oath. Let's hope it hasn't changed. Guys, please, does anybody know if the previous passport will be taken away????

Oh and one more thing! Are they going to take away my Russian passport? I'm more than sure that they are not, but the requirement to bring "all passports and travel documents, current and expired, issued by the previous government" seems a bit suspicious!!

Finally received the interview letter! The status changed on October 1, the letter didn't arrive till October 7th. The interview is on November 16th - for some reason in Atlanta!!! Has such a thing happened to anybody before? wacko.gif Biometrics in Jacksonville, interview in Atlanta!! Where will the oath be taking place - in Los Angeles? good.gif blink.gif ha ha!! Which leads me to another question: are there same day oaths in Atlanta or is there a way for me to find out which offices offer same day oaths? Thank you very much! Hubby and I are very excited - we just got back from U2 show in Atlanta yesterday and found the letter in th mailbox!! I guess it's time to plan the next trip to Atlanta!! Cheers everyone!

Hello everyone!!! Adding us to the list - it's been a while since CR-1, but I'll do my best to remember the main dates. I am Russian and my husband is a naturalized American citizen (originally from the UK).

September 15, 2004 - Got married!!! goofy.gif
October 20, 2004 - application for CR1
October 21, 2005 - interview at Moscow Embassy
November 1, 2005 - entry to the USA, became permanent resident
August 2007 - application for removal of conditions
December 2007 (right before Christmas crying.gif diablo.gif ) - RFE
February 14, 2008 (thank you very much, USCIS good.gif ) - Conditions removed, Green card production ordered
May 3, 2009 - Liam Ocean Markin-Harrison is born!!!

August 5, 2009 - N-400 package sent to Lewisville, TX
August 7, 2009 - N-400 delivered

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionStrange Situation
We also got the biomterics done on September 21. Since then, the information on the website stays the same: Case received and pending (California Center). And nothing at all!!! And we thought that California Center works fast. We are note sure whta to do - we are moving next week and have to notify INS about the change of address. crying.gif I'm afraid that one will slow the process down big time whistling.gif
