Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 October 2011 Filers

I'm a November filer and still waiting for bio too. It's kind of upsetting when you see a lot of the VSC November filers have their bio appointment and it seems like you get skipped over. Maybe it's a Florida thing.

I hope you get yours real soon

Still no biometrics appt. to date. :(
I see your hubby is done with his bio. Congratulations!

Glad to know you had a great thanksgiving. We had an awesome one too.

Now back to the waiting game....... :clock:

Thanks :) Let's hope USCIS pumps out all the bio letters and appointments before the holidays for the rest of us!

We did Josue's biometrics appointment yesterday. What a waste of 5 hours in the car! His appointment was at 12, we got there at 11:20 and were out by 11:40. They made me sit in a separate room but let him come out to ask me a question about the form he had to fill out. Now we just wait, wait, wait. In the meantime, I'm nesting like crazy but I think I finally have the baby's room finished!

That is an annoying waste of time to drive 5 hours for a 20 min appointment

Congrats on your little one & the baby room though! :dancing:

Still don't have my biometrics appt. :(

Just thankful that we are doing this waiting together and not in separate countries.
Happy thanksgiving everyone!

I'm sorry :( I really hope you get it this week!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, we did! :)

Completed Phil's bio appt today. It was scheduled for 9, we arrived @ 8:15 in the Philadelphia office and were out by 9am! Not bad at all.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

Thanks Becca.
I am using my in law's addy for all my immigration process and I gave her a heads-up on how imp that notice is, so she told me as soon as she got the letter, she's gonna let me know.
I will def go for an early bio if I ever receive it this week.

Is it possible to receive an RFE if there is something wrong on our papers before the BIO appt?

I believe you can receive an RFE at any stage in the process.

Actually you will need the physical appointment letter to do early bio-metrics. They stamp & sign the letter to serve as your proof that you completed bio-metrics.

Based on your timeline you should be receiving your appointment letter any day now. How soon will you be travelling? Will there be someone who can check your mail while you're away?

Yeah if you get the bio appt this week and it's dated for a time you're away, just go in early and get it done before you leave!

Looking at our timeline for October, it looks like it's about a month between filing and getting an appointment. I know you're over a month now since your file date so I am hoping it comes this week for you!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 October 2011 Filers

That's the truth for sure :) All the same I find it a slow and cumbersome way to do things, and in much need of a revamp.

It all seems so unnecessarily repetitive to me. By the time we get as far as we have into the process of immigration it seems a bit silly to start back at the beginning. We have completed the K1 process, the NVC process (we were there in extra checks for nearly 8 weeks) the consulate interview process, the AOS process, so you would believe we had clearly established that we are not criminals for heavens sake. They must keep it all on file, so why ask for it all again?!? Having sent them a copy of our 2 year cards, with photo and fingerprint on it, could someone not please take it as read that we have already passed all this scrutiny? Does every man and his dog need to run this again?

It does seem repetitive. I understand why they need to check the validity of a relationship again for conditional GCs but it doesn't make it any less frustrating! After going through this whole process, I see why people take the "easy way out" and just stay in the US illegally. I would never and could never do that because I'd live in constant fear that my husband would be deported any day and I'll be glad we did it the right and legal way once we have his 10 year GC in hand! It's the waiting that gets to me..

Man it sure is ridiculous how far they're sending some of you for simple biometrics.

Just saw in another thread that the processing time now states 6 months, and does not say 24th February at least.

Yeah I think we are in for quite a wait :clock: After we complete Phil's biometrics, I'm gonna try not to expect any updates/news from USCIS until at least March... :innocent:

Fixing format to add DJnk's info. Yes, you can do an early walk-in. I know plenty of people who've done early walk-ins at various CIS locations. I'm not familiar with yours but if it's not far from you, why not give it a shot? Edit to add: just make sure you bring along your bio appt letter & photo ID!

Now its making me wonder what's taking so long for me to receive my Bio... Sent it same day as RebeccaandPhil... still haven't receive it..
I'm flying out on the 13th od Dec, I kinda want my Bio done before that. :(

Hopefully this week brings it! It's based on your local CIS office and their scheduling availability

I just got my Biometrics Schedule......12-07-2011:)

Woohoo! We aren't on the same schedule anymore :(

It about a 2.5 to a 3 hour trip, and the same back. I am hoping the roads won't be an issue by then. And I am more amazed than anything that I can't do this in the state I live in.

Oy! Why in the world would they send you so far away?! That can't possibly be your local office, is it?

Shouldn't there be a "touch" to your application within a few days of your bio appt? I had mine on Monday and it's been 3 days and still no touch, ugh. I remember there being a touch the same day for the AOS process.

They seem to be more sporadic with touches for the ROC process. I wouldn't worry too much.

I'm sending mine in this month...a quick question about the Biometrics....whats involved??...What do I need?

After the whole big wait for the GC we are here again going through this lol....Will it ever end?!!!

Hi there! Since you'll be filing in November, you may want to join the November filers' thread instead, found here:
http://www.visajourn...er-2011-filers/

You are of course still welcome to post here if you feel more comfortable, but your timeline would be added to the November filers list in the thread above

As for the biometrics, you will receive an appointment letter about a month after you file and you will need to bring that letter, along with picture I.D. The letter states everything you will need to bring which are those two items. Best of luck!

Had our bio appt yesterday. Got there 30 min early and only one group in front of us. The guy at the counter was a kick. Had a funny personality. Was out the door 5 min before our scheduled appt. time. All went well. No update to receipt yet. Hope to get a touch soon.

Congrats on getting one more step completed!

That seems really risky. You would think they wouldn't even allow separate mailings as they would have to then find the original papers...as strict as they are with everything else!

Yeah I'm sure it's not USCIS' first choice, but I'm guessing not everyone is as organized and prepared as those who go on VJ ;)

Hi all! Adding us on at the tail-end of October....

Just to clarify, the NOA will serve as proof of immigration status along with the GC once the GC expires, correct?

Also, why do they say "if you haven't already, please submit evidence....etc..." on the NOA...? Don't they open the package and notice all the evidence before sending a NOA? Huh. Beats me!

Good luck to all!!

Best wishes,

Claire (and Cristhian)

Welcome! Yes your NOA1 will serve as proof of legal status with your expired GC  Yeah all the NOA's say to submit evidence. I guess they put it as a "just in case" kind of thing. Maybe others send in the I-751 first and then wait to send in the evidence after? Who knows!

Congratulations Rebecca and Phil for the quick bio appointment. I am hoping to receive mine soon as I will be flying out of US by December. So I am hoping to do my bio this month.
If I don't receive my bio letter next week, I'm definitely callin to follow up for the bio appointment.

I have a friend who filed last May, and she hasn't gotten her GC yet. She is also a VSC filer. This is depressing... well, so long we don't receive RFE. It's always about waiting game dealing with immigration.

Thanks! I hope you get yours soon too
RebeccaAndPhilFemaleCanada2011-11-04 07:52:00
Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 October 2011 Filers

I was looking at some previous month filer's forums and it looks like VSC is kind of on a standstill since April (almost all CSC have been approved, only 2 from VSC). I guess I should stop worrying about it and just wait til May or June before we might hear anything (after biometrics).

That's what I am planning on doing. Once we get the biometrics letter and get that out of the way, I worked out from the other months it would be ages for us. We are at VSC too, and they are slow as at the moment.

I don't think I'll ever get used to all the waiting for this or that. Least now we get to wait together, and that is a large improvement over the K1 nightmare we had.

Exactly! I'm hoping I can put my worrying aside once we're done with the biometrics. I think it will be a long haul for us VSCers :( But yes, we'll be waiting together!

For those who have their bio letter and can check their case status online, what does it show for the Form Number? On ours it shows CRI89. I would have expected it to show I-751. The form title says "PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED" which seems right.

No touches so far. The last updated date is the day after the date on the NOA1.

Greg

Yeah it should say on your NOA notice that they'll be listing your case as CRI89 online with case status updates. Nothing wrong!

On the bright side, if the walk in works, we'll be ahead of the game.

I may be wrong but isn't it illegal not to allow employees to use their earned paid time off? Not sure if it's even something you'd want to fight but I hate when people are treated unfairly

You would think, but I know better than to believe that people who have been in a certain situation before but that "move on" every remember how it was - like working in a school system with principals & assistant principals who were once teachers, but they no longer remember how it was to be in the classroom day in and day out.

Fortunately for my husband, they are usually pretty understanding (we just try to not push the limits and ask for every little thing) and today they are letting him go at 3:45 to make it to the DMV by 4, so he is only losing 45 minutes. Also, since our appointment is the day after Thanksgiving, he is off anyway so didn't lose an extra day. The bad thing is, his company gives Thanksgiving day off paid but the Friday afterwards is unpaid unless you use a vacation day. There is not an option for him to work because the offices are closed that day, so since we like to save his limited vacation time to our trips to Guatemala, he has to take the day unpaid regardless. It's really kind of ridiculous, but c'est la vie!

Oy! Sounds very strict  Hope you get to do an early walk-in!

We can relate. My "manager" won't let me take time off of work to go and do biometrics with my wife so we might have to try a walk in. The classic part is that she is an immigrant too. Work can sure make things difficult.

Ugh that so so annoying! Don't they give you vacation or sick time you can use? You'd think she'd be a little more understanding of your situation...

Hope everyone is doing well! We're on vacation until tomorrow. I read about the duplicate NOAs some are getting, very odd . I wonder if we'll be going home to 5 more NOAs lol.

Anyway, I hope this upcoming week brings more NOAs to those waiting & Bio letters for the rest of us!

I'm Happy I got my NOA dated 10/20/11....:)

Congrats! I'd say we're still on the same timeline since they were both issues on the same day ;) Yours just took one day longer to arrive!

From reading other forums, I'm pretty sure only the case number on your biometrics notice will work for online case updates.

Edited to say that I read your next post and see that you noticed that on the bottom of the letter. Too bad I only knew it from reading forums and I didn't see it on our letter haha.

hehe, yeah I didn't read that whole letter at first, whoops! I wonder why they make you wait until your biometrics letter. Don't they know we're all sitting here on pins & needles and need updates 24/7?!

Is written in your NOA about the 1 year extention? or they will send another paper for the extention letter?

Yes it's written right in the NOA that you get a 1 year extension.

yay! Our check was cleared today. NOA1 is coming soon. I can feel it.

Hopefully soon! :)

Eep, I just read through the entire NOA letter (probably should've done that first lol) and it said at the bottom that the case is tracked from the number on the Biometrics letter, not the NOA. Woops! At least there's nothing wrong with my case

Too bad my NOA is not yet arrived .huhuhu hopefully tomorrow.

Yeah hopefully tomorrow or at least by Friday!

I just tried to check our case status online at USCIS.gov & I put in our Receipt Number from the NOA but it says:

"Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283"

:/ Should I be worried?

Alright guys, I need your honest opinion. Got home today and still no Biometrics appointment letter. At what point should I be really worried? I don't mind waiting, but my concern is that the letter got lost in the mail and we miss our appointment and then get into all sorts of problems. We don't live in a big city so there is not even an office nearby to make an Infopass appt.

Do you think I should go ahead and call or just wait another week or so? If so, who do I call?

Here's "my" part of the chart, just as a reminder:
VJName.............Date of I-751.....NOA1 Date......Biometrics......Approved....
CACEREZ..............09/28/11........10/03/11.......--/--/11........--/--/--....
JIMANDCHRISTY........09/29/11........10/04/11.......11/09/11........--/--/--....
IML3G3ND.............10/08/11........10/11/11.......--/--/11........--/--/--....
PAYS-BAS.............10/11/11........10/14/11.......11/18/11........--/--/--....

So 2 people who have NOA1 dates after me have already received their appt letters, maybe more that haven't updated. :help:

I totally understand your concern but it seems that VSC is slow in handing out bio appointment letters as only 2 have received them so far. I would wait until the beginning of next week which would bring you to a month since filed and then call the contact number listed on your NOA
