K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBIRTH CERTIFICATE QUESTION
hey sudhi,

You will have to go the authority where your Birth Certificate (BC) was issued ... so if it was in your town you will have to go there.... sorry but thats how it goes..... I dont think the local municipality in banglore issue you one in english..... i hope your town is not far.... another thing.... my parents name was not written in my original birth certiifcate. so while applying for the english version , i had written behind the form my fathers name and moms name in block letters and repeated 2 times to the clerk about it to write in the english version.

I hope this helps.

hi,

My birth certificate was also in local language. I went to the Local Municipality office in the Dept of Birth/Death and asked them a English version of my Birth Certificate. They took a copy of my birth certificate and charged me Rs.5 per copy in English.

Please do get it ASAP as all documents required by US embassy are in English only. Your birth certificate in English should have your fathers and mothers name written on it .....its ESSENTIAL.I hope this helps

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresObtaining Police Certificates - India
hi,

1. You will have to get the PCC from current place from the police commisioners's office.. if i am not wrong you in Hyderabad now.

2. Your passport is from Jaipur so you will have to get the Passport Office Police clearance certificate ( passport PCC). You can carry any proof such as college leaving certificate , if u have a copy of Leaving certificae of the rajasthan undergrad college... u can submit that too.... with that u can give photo identity proof such as PAN card or Driving license, Election card... Ration card copy... etc.

3. For Banglore... try to apply the PCC , i doubt if u get it... If u dont get tell the Consulate about it that urs was a hostel residence

4. When we say Commissioner's office... it means every commissioner's office has a department for proving PCC, character certificates and dept for foreigners... there you have to go and apply the PCC as the small local police station dont have the right to issue PCC. You have to apply at the commsiioner's office... tht offfice send ur report for a verification to the loacl police station of ur residence and then report goes back to commissioners office... and then you get the PCC from police.

In short you have to get PCC from:-

>>>>>>> police from Guntur, Rajasthan, Banglore (if u get it) & Hyderabad ( ur current residence)

>>>>>>> Passport office of Jaipur.

I hope this helps

hey ,

Just dont worry... they want to see in person who is applying for the PCC, I also had to go .... and you know what... the funny thing is... i applied at the commissioners office with all the docs u mentioned... they gave me a Govt treasury receipt.. stood in line for 4 hours to pay it.. the sum was Rs.300 .... went to police station.. showed them the receiptt.... i was callled next day.. was handed out a letter saying... if u want this to go fast u .. urself take ur report copy to the local police station.... otherwise it will take 4 days for our constable to deliver there.... for tht service i payed 100 Rs.... I took the report myself.... with me.. got it stamped from local police station.... again paid 200 Rs to the locail police station guy..... toook copy with me in an hour went back to commisioners office... and gave to the man.. I requested for English PCC ... so i was said it will be extra feeee... I understoood and was callled the next day in evening.. waited for 1 hour.. got a PCC on a xerox paper with ready made proforma.. where just my details were written with pen by hand, photo pasted... stamped.... and again paid 300Rs.. to the Commisioners office guy who made PCC.... in alll expenses around 1000Rs.

When i was leaving he said.... For your people its 20$ as you are going to AMERICA and you can afford this ... I smiled and LEFT................

hi,

You are in the same situation as I was.... I was asked about my wife and our relationsship how it happpend. SO your BF would or might be asked why were you living with your Ex for the period you were... Your husband has to convince the CO officer that your relationship is of good faith. YES...... your bank statements are enough. You can also take a statement from the compamny which u working for.... mentioning your monthly statements on their Letter Head.

We are currently in the waiting stage for the NOA2.
Good luck to ya'll and hopefully we do not have to wait very long to be with our loved ones.

QUOTE (JohnAnwesha @ Dec 20 2009, 12:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi everyone,
I know some of these questions might have been discussed a lot,and I have also done some home-work but I actually got confused after reading too many posts on the same questions.Hence decided to ask mine anyway.

1) From what I have gathered is,the first major hurdle to clear is getting the NOA2 right? After that your file is sent to the NVC?Now will this be reflected against your case number on the website where you check for updates, that it has reached the NVC and also left it for your consulate?

2) Once it reaches the consulate(in my case Mumbai) will that also be reflected on that site?Or am I going to get the tracking number of the courier service they used to send it to Mumbai?

3)After all the packet 3 papers have been sent back and forth, they have my final documents with the checklist, once I track that that has been delivered, I can either wait for the consulate to send me an interview appointment date or can I call myself?

4)For the medical part,in India we do not have all records of all the shots I took as an infant, this is like 26 years back,I have taken all the necessary shots of course, but might not have proof for all.So what is the general process for such cases?

5)Once I get a interview date,I read in a couple of posts about how even your US fiancee should be present with you in person that day.Is this true?I thought all along,it is just me,and all his required docs?

I know it is a bother to answer probably the same questions all over, but I would appreciate the help a lot.

Thanks again!

I would really ,really appreciate some help!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPossible that a case can skip Interview to Post-Decision Activity?

We have checked our status on the USCIS website and it shows that our case went from Initial Review to Post-Decision Activity, skipping Request for Evidence, and Testing and Interview. Does that mean there will be no need for an interview? What is the time line in this case?
Thank you to all responders!

Hi,
That means that your initial petition got approved. It is no good to get to anything else in between these two steps hehe!
So congrats on your RFE-free approval.

And now you still have some steps left before the foreign beneficiary gets the K-1 Visa
Do read the guides if you have more question and fill in your time-line so that everyone can help you when you are stuck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat if co-sponsor has not yet filed 2009 taxes?

Sorry we didn't drop everything and come to answer your question.

Submit what you have and a copy of his extension form for 2009. If you will read the instructions it suggests presenting the most recent year's tax return or an explanation of why it wasn't filed. An automatic extension is a reason it wasn't filed and you presented the most recent year available, 2008. Plus 2007 and 2006 for some reason.

Hopefully he has also included his documentation of CURRENT income (what he made in the past three years, or four years, means nothing if he doesn't have adequate CURRENT income) and proof that he is a US citizen or Permanent Resident. Nothing else matters without that.

Incidentally this topic is covered several times a week in the Consulate forum and thousands of similar answers can be found with a search in less time than it takes to scold us for not answering sooner.

Good luck.

Okay first of thanks,
and secondly I was not scolding anyone. Not you for sure.
I wanted an answer sooner, since our co-sponsor was going to send me documents ,and I did not want the old man to run to the post-office several times.

But thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat if co-sponsor has not yet filed 2009 taxes?

Hi everyone,
Yet again! hehe
So okay,my co-sponsor has not yet filed his taxes for 2009,and he has sent me his tax returns for 2006,2007 and 2008.He wants some clarifications on certain matters, and he thinks that he might have to file for an extension. And so the bottom-line is,he might be able to send me his tax returns for 2009 by the time I have my interview, which might be early May.
So what should I do in such a case?Could he send me a copy of his request for extension? Is that original also required or could a copy be fine?I am not even sure what it looks like,so excuse me if this sounds stupid.

Thanks and I would really appreciate some suggestions!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTouched?

I've seen on members timeline the word "touched" next to a date. What exactley does "touched" mean?

3-30-08 Met on Cherry Blossom
4-09-08 Decided to meet in person
5-11-08 1st meeting, 4 days
4-08-09 2nd meeting, 16 days
7-01-09 Engaged
12-16-09 3rd meeting, 15 days
3-18-10 Mailed I-129F to CSC
3-22-10 Received confirmed
3-22-10 NAO1
3-23-10 Check Cashed
3-29-10 NAO1 Hard copy received

Hi there,
'Touched' means someone handled your application package physically. Most probably to check details and then do a background check or as simple as just moving it from one desk to another.
So what you do is set up an account with USCIS,with email and phone alert on,and fill in other details,so whenever you want to check the status of your application a month or two from now,you could log in and check the last-updated field date.If that has changed to something more recent, that means they were 'working' on your application.
Hope this helps somewhat

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs it notorized I-134?

I got letter from embassy wich says notarized I-134 form, but i read that notarized is not required anymore? is it true? Just please- dont tell me to check at regional forum for it, because in Lithuania there is only 3 million people and in this site i found 3 person whos doing this visa and they didnt answer me yet, so please if somebody could help me i really apreaciate

Hi Krili,
I would think that it does not need to be notarized, from what I have read here mostly. But if your embassy wants it,then could you not get it clarified with them.?That would clear the confusion.

wow, this is complete BS here. Both of you here are going through sh*t for no fault of your's and you think they would atleast act like they committed a mistake or something.

I do know of one member who faced something similar.Their case got approved, got sent to NVC and from there to the consulate. They even had an interview and then got placed in AP and finally their case was sent back to USCIS for further review.(k.loveh is the name I think)
They went through India.I do not know the reasons,so I will not misguide you.

But good luck to both of you and really hope you guys get out of this mess and soon.

HELLO,

SORRY :ot: I DONT KNOW IF THIS IS REALLY VISA RELATED, BUT IM JUST CURIOUS, WANTED TO SEE DIFFERENT IDEAS...

HOW ARE YOU GUYS PLANNING YOUR WEDDING BEING SO FAR FROM EACH OTHER? :innocent:

THANKS!!!!

Hi there,
I think many people are doing it their own unique ways.It is so cool though to talk to them and find out,cos we too get new ideas.Me and my fiance have not decided on anything firmly.Besides he is not employed now,so that is a major sour point. But we are right now thinking of doing a simple ceremony on a date we both seem to have decided on,and seems like everything will be over by that date,so I will have moved to the US by then.
And we are hesitant about actually booking any place or other services now, since it will be a gamble.Esp in our situation.

What are you guys doing?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresim nervous and worried help please

I just recivied my NOA2 for my k1 and im happy it got approved and all but now im overwhelmed yet again i dont know what i need to start doin or what to send my fiance can any one help me and will they send her the packet or will they send it to me im confused thanks

Hi there,
First of all congratulations!! :) You could now call the NVC (6033340700) and ONLY talk to an operator(not an automated response).Keep your NOA2 case number(starting with EAC or WAC ),your fiance's name, date of birth, your name ,date of birth ready. Then they will let you know whether they have your file with them and if they have assigned you a consulate specific case number.

The next step involves them sending your case to the consulate in your fiance's country. If you are the foreign beneficiary then you will soon be getting a packet 3(or packet 4 directly!) from them. But once the case reaches your consulate,it would be advisable to seek for asnwers in your country's regional forums.

But the more important part is getting all the paper-work ready.Like the I-134 (affidavit of support),and all supporting evidences proving income level, tax returns, employment letters etc. Then get ready all supporting evidence to establish a relationship between both of you(like emails, chats, photos, baording passes etc).

All the rest of the forms to fill up and what not will be clearly mentioned on your consulate's site or in the packets they send you.

You can always ask your questions here as and when you progress and people will help you out.

Good Luck :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShould I Call USCIS?
Hi there,
Our approval took 116 days! Which seemed a lot while we were waiting, but on hindsight,it seems that is their average processing trend right now.Anything under their 5 month time-frame will seem like a normal wait to them(not so much for us hehe!).

But you have to wait it out,and hopefully, you get to hear something soon. This would be one of the toughest parts ,but after this it will be relatively easier.Make lists and plans, that was what I would do and what sustained me a lot :)

All the very best to you :)

Has it been 5 months since your NOA1? Have you exceeded the Immigration Timelines averages? You are just impatient. WE all had to wait and you will too.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWho suppose to fill form I-134 if you are using a co-sponsor

We got approved of our spouse petition this month and currently doing the paper work at the NVC. My wife's annual income cant sponsor so we are using a co-sponsor and they just send their I-864 to the NVC. I want to know which of them is suppose to fill the I-134 form when I am going for my interview, its my wife or the co-sponsor?

I will really appreciate your help very much. Thank you

Hi ibee4qb,
Both your wife and your co-sponsor need to fill out separate I-134 forms. And now the onus of providing all financial evidence to support all that he/she fills out also lies on your co-sponsor.But I think that your wife might also need to send supporting evidence.Well to be on the safer side,I made my fiancé send his.But I thinking at the interview, they would like to check our co-sponsor's I-134 and supporting documents more.
Hope this helps ,and you can always look for more co-sponsor specific answers by simply searching for co-sponsor I-134.

Good Luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNeed help
Hi,
I am afraid that the consulate might not extend the validity of an approved K-1 visa unless it is for very extreme circumstances(death of a family member,or something of a very serious nature) and that too with proof.I cannot go into further depth without running the risk of giving you false information. Some of the experienced members will definitely give you a clear idea. But I have read some similar posts a while back and that was what I gathered.

Hope you guys can work something out and not have to go through all of this again .!
