Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionGoing on cruise after Conditional Green Card Expires
You might want to take a couple of photocopies of your NOA in addition to the original NOA. When I traveled through Tanzania and Qatar, I had to explain multiple times what the NOA meant to the local airline agents. They made copies just to be safe. If you carry an extra copy or two, it'll save you some time.

Joe Alien, A# 123-456-789

Dear USCIS examiner:

Enclosed please find a JOINT I-751 petition for removal of conditions of permanent resident status regarding my husband, Joe Alien. My husband’s Adjustment of Status Application was approved in 2008, prior to which he was on an H1-B visa. We have been happily married for three years and request that this petition be accepted for removal of conditions on the residence of my husband, Joe Alien.

Please find attached the following items:

1. A check for the amount of $545, the fee for this form and the biometric fee.
2. A completed form I-751.
3. A copy of my husband’s permanent resident card.
4. A list of documents to verify the status of our marriage and ongoing relationship, with attached copies of all said documents.

Please let us know if you need any additional information.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Jill Citizen & Mr. Joe Alien

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTravel with expired green card but NOA letter
I traveled with the NOA and expired green card while my RoC was in process. I had absolutely no problems with US Immigration at DIA on the way back.

Interestingly, the problem was with the airline agents at the departing airports. We flew back from Tanzania via Qatar, and I had to explain multiple times that the expired green card with the NOA meant I could still legally enter the US. Both times, the airline agents made copies of the NOA. I suggest you travel with photocopies of GC and NOA, and everything should be peachy.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion90 day window to lift conditional - can i do it much later? i need to travel + worry about biometrics
Just a quick note about postponement requests. I tried requesting postponement to a specific date (two months later than the biometrics data), but USCIS just kept postponing by a couple of weeks at a time. I had 6 postponements in all. I finally had my biometrics about two months later than the original date. There were no problems when I finally went in for FP. Your mileage may vary.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhoops... Totally forgot about the 90 days thing

Hi! I remember your name from before... and we have the same POE date for our spouses...

The only problem I see - assuming you get that NOA1 letter fine and get it to her before she is returning - is the biometrics appointment. Check the previous months filers threads for average time, but it seems that the appointment date averages 7-9 weeks after I-751 submission, so she might or might not get a date when she is back in the U.S. It seems like it is easy to change the date, but if only she can do it, she'll have to send it from Japan. I haven't gotten to that stage yet so I don't know if it's a letter you send back in with a signature or if it's a phone call or what... hopefully someone who knows will weigh in.

Good luck with everything!

If the OP is going to be around, it's not a problem to get the biometrics date pushed back, more than once if necessary. In my case, I asked for six postponements because of travel. To be more precise, I had a family member do it for me six times.

The process is pretty simple. You have to check a box on the appointment letter, mail the original back to the local USCIS office and a copy to CSC/VSC. Make sure you keep a copy for your records. I used certified mail so that I'd have proof that I asked for a postponement.

Good luck.
