Howdy everyone from Aussie-Land! I just wanted to formally introduce myself......I'm Ren, I'm 28, have 2 awesome kitty's and an even more awesome US citizen hubby named Tom. I packed up my life and moved from Australia to Ames, Iowa last August! I'm currently going through the whole AOS process.......hopefully I will get my EAD soon since I'm definitely itching to get back out into the workforce! Things seem to be moving along ok for now cos just the other day my case was transferred to the CSC, so YIPPEEE!! Anywho, I have been lurking around this message board for way too long now, so I can't wait to chat with you all soon! :)

p.s. I also brought my GHD over........they definitely market it as being dual-voltage, so that was a selling point for me! I also brought over a table lamp that I love, but it uses those pin type light bulbs, and all I've been able to find here are screw-in bulbs! Bummer!

I would definitely recommend Dr Waks in Sydney, he was so lovely and his office was easy to get to and find!

K1 Visa approved!!!!!!!!! Yay!

I was in and out within an hour! Most of the questions I was asked were leading questions, i.e. "So your fiance lives in Iowa?" hehe nice detective work there Mr Consular Officer!

I am flying out August 10th and the wedding is September 13th! Now I just have to get the invites out and pack, pack, pack! smile.gif

I recently got a will and power of attorney drawn up and the solicitor said my Super will stay here in Oz locked in until I hit retirement age....there are some special circumstances where you can draw it out early, but apparently moving overseas and getting married to a USC isn't one of them! sad.gif

I have my K1 interview tomorrow morning in Sydney!!!!! Eeeek! Soooo excited! And this time in 5 weeks I should be in the air mid-flight to LAX! Double Eeeeeeeeek!!! smile.gif

Hi All!

The doc who did my medical in Sydney (Dr Waks) said I could pick up my medical results the morning of my interview to save me travelling all the way to Sydney again to pick them up..............is he right, can I send in Packet 3 without the medical results??

I realllllly don't want to take a day off work and fly to Sydney just to pick them up!

I had the immunity blood tests done and found out the only thing I was immune to was Measles! Apparently all the others (mumps, rubella, chicken pox etc) had worn off over the years! It was not fun getting a jab in my arm and one in each butt cheek in one afternoon to make sure I had all my shots haha!

Did anyone else have their medical done by Dr Waks in Sydney? I just thought he was the nicest little old man Dr ever! smile.gif

One more questions, I was planning to pick up my medical results from Dr Waks the morning of my interview but the checklist for Packet 3 lists medical results......is it ok for me to just take them in on the day or do they need them beforehand?

Hiya Aussies!

Can someone please help me out and let me know what the NOA2 looks like?? I received an email on Feb 25th telling me I'd been approved.....but now I'm trying to organise all my paperwork and my US fiance swears black and blue that he never received the NOA2 in the mail. He for sure has the NOA1 and a letter from the NVC but no NOA2 (or is the letter the NOA2??) Arrrgh I'm so confused! I know I'll need it for AOS later but do I need it for the interview?

Hi myperfectflaw! Was just wondering how you went about getting an extension? Did you just email the Consulate or is there a form involved?? Thinking I maybe might need one

Thanks all! smile.gif

Hi everyone!

Just a quick question for those Aussie's that have moved to the States..............was just wondering how you all moved your belongings over there? I'm not planning on taking any furniture with me, but I hope to take my books, dvd's, cd's and alot of my picture frames, vases, knick-knacky stuff to make the place feel like home!

Thanks in advance!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPrevious Social security number obtained with J-1 query
QUOTE (bigticket77 @ Sep 6 2008, 07:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
This had completely slipped my mind. I am filling out the G325a ( as beneficiary for the K-1) and It dawned upon me, when it asks for if you have a Social Security number that when I use to work in Summer camps in the U.S, I was given a Social Security Number when issued with the J-1. I just found the card in an old wallet ( which says valid for work only with INS authorization). I would have thought it would be defunct by now..but I ran a check online to see if it was still active ( whatever that means) and it said it was. Does this mean I have to put this on my form as my SSN? despite being a UK national?
Once your issued an SSN is that your number for life?

thanks a lot.

J

Wow! This is so odd since I was just coming to VJ to ask this exact same question!!! Great minds......lol!

I was also wondering about what to put as my Employment from May to October 2007 as during that time I was working as a camp counselor and then travelling in the U.S. Should I put down my work in the U.S. or just put "Travelling in the U.S."?

Also, for my Residence during that time should I just put down "Travelling in the U.S." again?

Cheers everyone!
